The People's Republic of China has recently deployed 90+ of their warships and aircraft around Taiwan in the largest maneuvers in decades. The big prize on Taiwan is the TSMC plant, which makes most of the world's computer chips.

Just more military drills unless the U.S. response is weak. If Biden ignores it, it could be an invasion. I imagine it wouldn’t be an invasion for at least several weeks though, as they would wait for a reaction first.

Probably an attempt to scare the US or a show of power which they will "excuse" as a military drill. I doubt they would do anything to start a war but after what happened with SK then Syria in a span of days I'm not holding my breath. Holy shit 2024 is one of the most craziest years ever.

PLA activities：
53 PLA aircraft, 11 PLAN vessels, and 8 official ships operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 23 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s northern, southwestern, and eastern ADIZ. ROC Armed Forces have monitored the situation and employed CAP aircraft, Navy vessels, and coastal missile systems in response to the detected activities.

Time will tell. I love to call Taiwan, Taiwan China, the one and only true China. I have the real world nations of NS Taiwan China and NS Greater Taiwan China.

In my opinion, it's unlikely they would invade unless the US or Taiwan's response is uncharacteristically weak. But just remember that most people didn't think Putin would invade Ukraine so both Taiwan and the US should operate on the assumption that China would invade (regardless of their true intentions).

I visited Taiwan last year. While I was in Tainan, I heard lots of planes flying overhead. Probably Taiwanese jets scrambling to intercept Chinese jets in the Strait. War is imminent.

I've been to Macau, China, Taiwan and Japan so far, plus I grew up in HK. That leaves South Korea. Can't wait to visit that place one day, preferably before the entire region goes to shit in WWIII.
