So, which stage of that development do you reckon the forums are in as of now?

With NSG is hard to say. Definitely past its zenith but not dead. I’d say we’re at a high volume participation time. It’s afternoon in the US and there are a lot of US posters active atm.

Ah, I see. For me in the UK it’s 8 o’clock in the evening so considerably quieter with the British players here, but not dead silent. In the long term (looking beyond one day) do you reckon NSG is past its zenith, or still within that period?

Past, but this place is peculiar. I’ve been here since early 2008 and there has always been some kind of activity. So, despite its zenith being long past, and an obvious decline has happened, the site isn’t falling entirely inactive. Or slowing down.

That’s comforting to know, I appreciate the insight. I haven’t been here for nearly as long (joined on this account in ‘23) so I find it difficult to tell sometimes.

Each subforum has different purposes. Some are more RP-oriented, like International Incidents. Posts are often longer than what you see on NSG, Arts & Fiction, or Forum 7. Whereas, the before mentioned forums are often filled with one-liners and discussions on various migraine-inducing topics. The forums were more active back in the day, but a lot of activity is done off-site one apps like Discord for communicating between friends, especially for RPing communities like Gholgoth, Esvanovia, or through International Incidents alliance like the KTO. There is less posting in these forums as a result.
The forums, yes, have seen a decline overall. It's well past its prime. For now, anyway. Gameside appears to be as active as ever. I could, of course, be wrong. And besides, not a lot of us care about post count anymore either. It's a trivial thing.British Arzelentaxmacone wrote:I don’t know, honestly. Low-quality RPing is definitely a factor. There are still those high quality RPs as well - but these take awhile to post in when the average post exceeds in excess of 1-2k words per post. The recent influx of war RPs all contain one-line and are rather laughable at best in their design.

You are such a crybaby [...] all you do is lock threads and be a bitch to people, nobody likes you, you aren’t cool, you lock every thread for stupid reasons, often times not giving a reason, [...] all you do is sit on your computer all day on NationStates, locking threads at a rate 5x higher than any other mod [...] stop trying so hard to impress people, literally nobody like you.
Have a good day
