I've seen several times in the past where site staff have explicitly said slurs do not automatically constitute rule breaking, including multiple instances this week.
Under what circumstances does using a slur not inherently constitute flaming, trolling, or, at a minimum, flamebaiting of the target marginalized group?
Because I struggle to understand when they wouldn't, beyond discussions of their negative impact or disavowal of their use (i.e. clear instances of neither using nor endorsing a slur), constitute one or more instances of rule breaking under the current OSRS.
And if they can slip under the wire when they are deemed edge cases, why do we not update the OSRS to include a rule explicitly against instances of hate speech if the rules against flaming, trolling, and flamebaiting don't adequately collectively cover it?
