I lost a card bid because I got a invalid check or something

Postby Nerasian Empire » Wed Dec 04, 2024 7:16 pm

Basically I was on bidding war and as we all know a common strategy is to wait for the last seconds, but when I was going to bid (I already gave several successful bids for the card) I got a red warning saying invalid check and when returned to normal (in seconds but vital seconds), I had a loss as I sold my card to myself and the card I wanted to buy was taken by someone else.

Why this happened exactly?

Were you bidding on other cards? Sometimes, if your bid exceeds your balance, you can't do more bids.

The warning wasn't the one I telling I didn't had enough money, it was an invalid check, it lasted just seconds, but yes, I was actually removing bids in other cards, then I waited for the last seconds but when I placed my bid, I got the warning.

That can be avoided by refreshing your tab before you want to bid. And the last second bid is cool and all but it adds a minute to the timer so you shouldn't wait until a point that you would no longer be able to re-put in your bid.

This is a system that is working as intended.

In the simplest of terms, when you load a page, your tab is given a code allowing it to perform a significant NationStates action. If you load two pages at the same time that call on that code, and try to do a significant action in each, the second one will fail because it is using an old code. There is a similar disclaimer on the verify login page.

When it comes to cards, we consider setting bids and asks as significant actions. You either need to operate within one tab when buying and selling cards so that the code gets regenerated when used, or reload the page before sending a bid or ask so that the browser receives the most up to date code.

Now I get what I did wrong, I was with two tabs open, one on the card I want, and the other removing my bids so I could have more bank. Thanks for your time, you can close the topic if you wish.
