De Mayne County, Louisiana

De Mayne County, a fairly quiet place in the South of the United States, is facing a period of conflict: in Marlette, the county seat, tension has grown dramatically after the discovery of a body in the countryside near Marlette.

The De Mayne County Sheriff Department ( DMSD ) activated itself to investigate about the murder, in a race against the time to resolve the case, while fears and mistrust grow in Marlette and surrounding areas

Hello ! I'm here with this new RP about a murder Investigation in the fictional town of Marlette, in the fictional De Mayne County.

Marlette is a small town with 2 000 people, with an high school, a small medical clinic, various shops and bars, a gas station and a church. Here people know eachother pretty well, while, regarding the law enforcement, the Sheriff Department, the maximum done by deputies was brawls, arresting teens trepassing private property and similar.

-2 : You are conducting an Investigation : be sensate, respectul and professional

Biography: Joel Baker started his career in Law Enforcement not here in De Mayne County, but in Baton Rouge, where he was born in 1975 from two middle class parents: his dad worked as an high School sports coach and his mom worked as a nurse. During his childhood he played for the local baseball team and at school he was an average student.

After graduation, Joel was determined to enter in Law Enforcement and, after enrolling in the local police accademy, passed and became a Patrolman in the BRPD in 1992, Baker's career went very well, with his promotion to Detective in 2004, after about 12 years in the patrol division, first as a private officer, until reaching the rank of Lieutenant, and during those years, he fell in love and married Emily Brooks, an office worker. It was going all well, until Katrina : not only the Hurricane destroyed the city, but also killed the love of his life. This knocked down Joel, who spiraled in a life of depression, heavy drinking and self-destruction. He asked to be transferred elsewhere, and in 2013 he was satisfied, when he was sent as a deputy sheriff to De Mayne County, here he recovered from depression, but remained an alcoholic and pessimist, while fighting his internal battles, he made sure that his colleagues couldn't acknowledge that. When the old sheriff retired in 2016, he took the role to these days

Myers, despite him not being the sharpest tool in the shed, always tried its best when he engaged in something, whenether it was school, sports, or other activities. His parents were very divided on how Wes would turn up and would he do after graduation : his mother thought that maybe he could switch growing and maybe even go to university, while his father was much more realistic : despite Wes being his own blood and flesh, he couldn't deny the fact that his son lacked that intelligence needed. During HS he became interested in serving the country, but he could not decide which branch of the military should end, after he talked about it with his parents, they decided to make the most of their son's passion, so that he could find a job.

After graduation, Wes enlisted in the Florida National Guard as a private in 2020, and he seemed to have found an excellent job that he was passionate about, unfortunately, a combination of his honesty, lack of common sense and anger management issues lead to him being being dishonorably discharged, after he almost killed another private who took advantage of him and got him in trouble. Not to disappoint his parents, who probably already received the news, Wes did not return home, but left Florida, crossed Alabama, ending up in Louisiana in 2023, where he found his chance for redemption in the De Mayne County Sheriff's Department, in which he became a deputy

Biography: Catherine Johnston was born as Katharina Milden, in the year 1975 in Potsdam, East germany. Her mother was a public school teacher and her father was a high ranking officer in the Stasi. She was a bright young child, who loved to learn everything she could. In her teenage years, Katharina grew to despise the regime and her father. She was against the strict authoritarianism ofn the regime and against the Stasi. So she distanced herself from her family and hung out with likeminded people her age. Katharina was 17, when the Berlin wall fell and just a few months after she got her school diploma, Germany was reunified. Katharinas father was arrested and thrown into jail, for his position in the Stasi. After he was locked up, she decided that she wanted to leave. She wanted to get away from her father, away from her past. So at the age of 19, she immigrated to New orleans.

Here she studied Criminal justice, because she had decided that she wanted to become a police officer. At the university, she met Mary Johnston, who was studying there to become a high school teacher in her home town Marlette. And so after Catherine finished the police academy, she asked to work in the DMSD and her request was granted. She and Mary moved in together. Semi-blackout neck tattoos, abstract arm tattoos(Will hide them the best he can if required) and various piercings(Also removable while on duty if required). When not in uniform, has a bit of a strange fashion sense, either wearing rebel 'bad boy' type clothes, or ranch fashion....or sometimes both together at the same time. Often wears eyeliner

Biography: Born in Marlette, Killian was born to a couple of ranchers. Growing up, he always loved the horses and working with them, but had a bit of a hard time with small town life. He often longed for more than just being a 'rancher's son', born to inherit the ranch. That isn't to say he was against the idea, he just wanted more, and as he got older, he became a bit of a rebel and a little bit of a troublemaker. The kind of trouble he'd get in to was never the kind to leave a permanent record, more of a call home to his parents sort of trouble.

When he was old enough, he began helping with riding lessons on the ranch, and gained a bit of a reputation as the tatted up, eyeliner wearing 'bad boy' of a teacher. Some people didn't like that, feeling unsafe leaving their kids with him, but others saw it as a safe place for their kids who stood out or were different. The ranch was more than happy to embrace this shift in clients, and life continued like this for another year or so. Killian still got himself into the occasional trouble, but mellowed a bit as he got older and gained a larger role in the ranch operation.

Then one day, he was out late, while attempting to sneak into a bar just to see if he could, and maybe play some pool, he came across a couple who were fighting. At first, he brushed it off, not really thinking too much of it. Until it got loud, and much more aggressive. When it became a full-on domestic violence situation, he sort of reacted before he thought about what he was doing, and stepped in. This ended with him in the hospital, but ultimately he'd defended the victim long enough for the police to get there. It was through this that he realized that maybe protecting people was something he could do with his life...if he could learn to do it better. So, he signed up for police academy, and after passing that, joined the DMSD.

And then there was a murder. What a time to join the department.
