IC:
Welcome, welcome to Jaktoo, and the Winter Ball. Current temperature outside is hovering around 27 degrees Celsius. Sunny, clear day. No rain.

As you arrive at Jaktoo international airport, by any means, you will be moved through the large airport as a VIP to your motorcade of armored cars, which will then take you to the ballroom itself. A grand, vast building in a grand city decorated with flags and statues of former leaders, along with a few of the current leader, renowned for it's glory as a gem in paradise. Of course, the streets are rather festive this time of year, with wreaths set up as well as lights, trees, and the odd mall Santa on the corner done up and handing out treats to kids who ask kindly. A welcome celebration of the times, even if the world beyond here seems dark, cold, uncaring and scary.

Within the ballroom, one will find a vast welcoming party of staff and heaps of food, drink, and smaller gifts for the guests to enjoy like cigars and other smaller luxuries, along with a chance to meet Gonswanza's diplomat of love, Juanita Del Rey, performing live on stage! Though, currently, she can be found wandering about, as the main stage has yet to see her perform, allowing one to snatch an autograph, a photo, maybe even some merch on her own dime!

Elsewhere, various diplomats, representatives, and even commanders have afforded the trip to join the festivities, done up in their best, for you!

Please, enjoy this celebration, my friends, a celebration not just of the Christmas spirit, but of the leader herself!

And, next to arrive was the former Minister of Defence for BA - Mari Makelä. This wasn’t the first celebration she had attended involving Gonswanza, but it failed to detract from her sense of excitement for today’s events. All in all, a much nicer way to celebrate Christmas than hiding out in Berlin as she did the year prior. She herself was thoroughly enjoying the festivities and had been looking forward to Christmas all year, so was understandably delighted to be celebrating it with friends.

Mari was, for once, dressed up in an outfit beyond a military uniform, and was rather proud of her fine dress as she walked briskly towards the ballroom. The silken navy blue dress she wore was simple yet elegant, with embroidered golden lace around the shoulders and neck, twirling and swirling in ornate designs. The dress rustled quietly as she walked, being a little too tall for her although she did well to hide it by wearing a pair of lifted shoes, which she hoped would help disguise that fact.. to some extent, at least. A grin adorned her pale features, framed by her medium length black, glossy hair styled similarly to a Korean bob cut.

She was excited to be seeing Laura at a party again, and carried a considerably large box with her, filled to the brim with chocolates, new clothes, wine and various other gifts for her friend. It was a nice opportunity to meet new people, mingle with other partygoers, and of course spend time with Ortiz, and she wasted no time in making her way quickly to the entrance of the building, the same gleeful smile remaining plastered across her face.
Too authoritarian? Yeah I get that a lot.

Showing up promptly to the ballroom, the grand facade glistening in her eyes, Margaret arrived offering a vast cache of items. Transport from the airport to here was hardly eventful, though moving the gigantic mass of gifts was difficult, as they were various boxed gifts, and gems offered on parade, cloaked beings holding them upon pillows, encased under glass, along with a custom dagger for Ortiz.

Yet, even with the vast gifts offered, and a massive pearl being walked off to the gift gathering area in a sealed chest, Margaret was amazed by the vastness before her. Staff were dancing about in their waltz, as she moved with them, noting food and drinks being offered, though she opted to taste Gonswanzan sparkling water, as the scents of various food attacked her nose.

She was probably going to enjoy this party, perhaps.

The next arrival would be arguably the greatest power couple in Eusan history- or really, ever. Overseer Enya and Chairwoman Thalia- the two most powerful people in the whole Federation. And they were truly a match made in heaven- having been some of the first to begin conspiring against the Eusan People’s Nation that came before the Federation. As such, the two of them were very, very close- and Thalia’s loyalty to Enya quickly morphed into something more. Aaaand only a few months later, they were unofficially married- and even if it was sudden, it proved to be the right choice. After all, they were coming up on their 207th anniversary in a few months.

As far as the present moment goes, Enya was dressed in a slightly metallic off-white gown, its hem floating mere millimeters off of the ground. It fit her perfectly. On the other hand, Thalia was less used to wearing conventional clothes- she typically just preferred the standard ARAR medium armor, or just to not wear anything- which was fairly common among Replikas, considering they didn’t have anything “naughty” to really expose, per se. Still, she wore a long, double-breasted light gray wool coat over a basic button-up and some slacks. Style wasn’t her strong spot, but it was… alright.

The two of them had procured quite the gift for Ortiz- a extremely premium but still functional folding knife- with beautiful diamond handle scales, and a blade made out of the finest Eusan steel- polished to a mirror finish. The entire assembly was secured by some skeletonized liners that were visible through the diamond handles, and a button-actuated plunge lock. As they walked in, they took in the sights- and looked around for anyone who could lead them to somewhere to deposit their gift. Or anyone willing to talk. Either worked.

Tech level: Borderline MT/PMT in the Frontier Territories, late PMT with FT elements in the “home system.” Semi-isolationist. Based on Signalis’ Eusan Nation and Eusan Empire, controlling both of their former territories plus territories in the NS world, which are the base of operations for RP scenarios. Demographics of NS territories leans strongly towards more Replikas than humans. (the term Gestalt has been abolished in this timeline) Most NS stats are non-canon, though they generally paint an ok picture of how things are. Partially based on my IRL views.

Canon population in the Frontier Territories: ~180M
Canon population in the home system: ~40B (roughly, spread out over 6 planets) NOTE: the home system is rarely used for RP.

Next to arrive is the beautiful couple of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Bartolomé Palomar and his wife, Anastasia Choo-Palomar, alongside his two kids.

Then the two kids gave a present to Laura Ortiz, a talibong from Aklan. A sword given from the Panayense ancestors in Aklan, and it symbolizes the strength and resilience of the Aklanons and all over Panay.

As the guests trickle in, Ortiz would soon appear from the masses of scrambling staff, aides working to keep order as gifts were guided (or taken gently with utmost care) to a growing gallery of presents, the dictator herself soon joining with a dolled up madam who wore a stellar white dress with gold highlights, in mild contrast to the dictator who donned her own military gala suit as she had many times before. Crisp, clean, well made and designed, the two were almost inseperable as the rest of the government began to throw their suits into the arena of celebration with some delay. Characters from the MoD, MoTI, MoFE... And others from GEL all trickling in, as well as Centurion herself wearing a unique suit, one that was made from alligator skin, complete with snakeskin boots, and enough gold to probably bury a homeless person out back in the yard.

While the others wandered, Juanita can be found in a rather tame trenchcoat, shades, and what looks like combat boots, though she was not revealing her true attire... Yet. That was a surprise for later, with Ortiz soon snatching an autograph from her, the odd lady in a dress in hand, before the trio split rather conveniently.

Thus, it has begun, in some regard, with a slow waltz beginning to set the mood as idle background music. Combined with the smells of LatAm food, a varied menu for many to explore, not only was this a celebration of the season, but a celebration of culture.
Praise our glorious leader Laura Ortiz!

And like a silent shadow, Angelica soon arrives, donning her cloak, as her transport arrived to the airport. From there, she rode in an armored car to the event, with a large box wrapped up in what looks to be jute, soon being added to the heaping mound of gifts laid across several tables.

Still, she was excited to be here, as shown by her glowing eyes being quite merry and full of child-like wonder. If only she were human... Granted, she just looks like a tall human in a hooded cloak.

Mari slung her bags over her shoulder as she kicked open the door, entering the room with a swaggering confidence and grinning broadly at the sight of Ortiz. “Laura!” She squeaked gleefully, and began to quickly make her way across the room to greet her, but not without colliding rather harshly into the Eusan Overseer, wobbling on her feet for a few moments before slamming to the ground, dropping her box of gifts for Ortiz. Despite the collision being Mari’s own fault from her distraction, she was quick to blame it on the other woman with an angry scowl. “Hey! Watch where you’re going!”

Stuffing one of the dropped dresses - a sequinned green one, still bundled up in twine - back into the box, Mari shakily grabbed onto the table and hoisted herself to her feet, shaking her head with a little growl of annoyance but remaining determined to see Laura. Finally, after what felt like hours, she made her way to the Gonswanzan leader, pushing the box of gifts towards her awkwardly. “Merry Christmas Laura!” Mari grinned eagerly. “Look, presents!!”

The door to the Winter Ball was opened for the Meresdian delegation. The two Secretaries stepped into the room taking it all in. Secretary of State Arturo Carvajal stood proudly, grabbing a flute of champagne from the tray of a nearby server. The Secretary, a tall man of Hispanic descent had a fresh haircut and immaculately trimmed beard. His hair had started going grey in places, he was one of the older members of the current cabinet at 57. He wore a double-breasted navy suit with a black tie and oxblood double monk-strap shoes. His pocket square of white and gold accented the outfit while symbolizing the major colors of the Meresedian flag. He smiled at the partygoers and made sure to coordinate the delivery of the gift the Meresedians brought: A hand-carved wooden chest with the Meresdian crest that was filled with a variety of quintessential Meresedian items, aged cheeses, olives, three bottles of aged wine, also a small sculpture of the Jewel Spider, national animal of Gonswanza.

Secretary of Culture Mei Tsao stood next to Arturo in a flowing gold dress fitted at the top with elegant black heels. Her dark shoulder-length hair was in a wolfcut looking effortlessly put together. She wondered to herself how the party would go. The country of Gonswanza was much larger than the island nation of Meresed and had drastically different politics. She decided to remain optimistic and split off from Arturo to find someone to talk to towards one of the tables with food on it.

Young, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Empress Euphyllia arrived at the party at long last, attending solo on this outing, not even her close loyal bodyguard was in her wake as the invitations were quite clear, all security should be left directly to the host nation, and who was she to insult a gracious host? She held in her arms a necklace, a gift for the hostess and birthday girl, Laura Ortiz. A necklace seems kind of boring but upon closer inspection, one would find it's made up of precious rubies and amethyst stones, forged in the great mountains of Fa by dragon's fire. Surely to guard against evil spirits, wicked magic of necromancers and regulate body temperature, assuming the magic of the stones could work outside the Elviwtand world, well at least they are quite pretty. She gingerly placed the wrapped box upon the guest table, signed her name on the card. "There, perfect." Euphyllia said to herself, "I do hope she likes it." And really this was the Empress's first trip beyond her empire so it had to be very special which is why she specially commissioned this gift to the gracious host. Sure, many others were here too, not as though she was a VIP but still, since being crowned Empress and coorinated, she hadn't had the pleasure of going beyond The Unknown Sea that surrounded their massive lands so let's make the most of it she figured. For now that was that. This would be a good time to meet some others and make new aquaitances, this cute short statured elf girl now free to roam the floor.

Who might this lovely lady be she did wonder? Compared to young Euphie she looked dazzling and mature and well why not strike conversation with her, always nice to have other women to talk too, as she understood those outside Elviwtand weren't as female oriented in the political realms as Elviwtand. "How do you do?" Grabbing the hem of her dress she gave a curtsy to this woman. For now forget the fact she's an Empress she can be another member of the party guests.

Ortiz could only smile and offer an embrace for Mari, as she rushed over to grant her gifts, with aides scrambling to fetch them for the growing heap. Indeed, it was a welcome occasion, with the dictator soon accepting the gift, and an aide getting it handed off to them, as Ortiz soon offered to speak up rather than embrace her... A mildly awkward moment, but one that was easily brushed aside.

"Mari, my dearest fan. How has life treated you? Are you well? We have plenty of drinks, cake, food, and drugs for your every desire, with live music on the way for your pleasure. Have you perhaps been sleeping well? Since... This is a celebration not just of the season, but of myself as well. And I'd be a fool not to care for my guests, too."

Yet, she seemed awfully relaxed rather than concerned, standing proudly as staff continued to move about, offering drinks to passing guests.

Prior to Mari's... Rush... Staff had kneeled to accept the gift, treating it respectfully, and adding it to the heap. A heap was not a proper way to describe it, however, it was more of a gallery of gifts, wrapped up or stored away, for something greater. There were a few guards soon posted around the gifts, mostly to keep people from peeking and ward off Ortiz should her patience run thin. At the very least, they were dressed to match the festivities. Tuxedos, guns, shades, clean shaven faces and a black bowtie to match the black suits.
Praise our glorious leader Laura Ortiz!

Mari nodded enthusiastically, practically brimming with excitement to see Laura. She did see herself as her biggest fan, and saw the opportunity to join her at a party as simply wonderful. A grin spread across Mari’s face, and if it weren’t for Ortiz retracting the offer at the last moment, she likely would’ve embraced the dictator in a heartbeat. Although she likely wouldn’t admit it, she was somewhat disappointed she had missed the chance to hug her, but similarly brushed the thought off and focused on the moment.

“I’m well, thank you. As for sleep, I get about 6 hours every night; could be better, but, I find ways to cope nevertheless. How about you, are you doing well? Are you enjoying Christmas so far? I’ve gotten plenty of gifts for you, dresses, wine, cigars, sweet treats, that sort of thing. Took me ages to pick out, but I hope you like them.” She beamed proudly.

Mei smiled at the woman who walked up to her, she made the sign of the dove (hands on your chest with thumbs interlinked) and bowed to her as was tradition for all Meresedians. "Hello Emperess, how were your travels? I hope all is well?” Arturo had briefed Mei on all the known parties that would be in attendance. She admired the nation’s strong economy and high emphasis on culture. “How has the holiday season been for you this year?”

Arrival

Krell hated social events.

Even in his days as an organic he was never one for the hustle and bustle of a party, he would much rather be playing something like Infinite Dynasty 6 with a few of his online colleagues as a brief respite from his revolutionary efforts. Why then was he on this shuttle? Well the Gonzwanzans had been one of the Imperium's few allies during the Ascension War and for that effort The Paramount had declared them "Synthetic-in-Spirit", a classification which the Imperium still respected. For that reason Krell decided that it might be prudent to return the kindness of their organic allies even if his partners on this quest made him reconsider his decision...

“...so then I said I thought that was her husband!" Laughter erupted from the other side of shuttle from Talen and Na as they shared more inane stories about the debauchery the Imperium's social elites were wont to get into. Krell wished he had taken the opportunity to purge that scum from the Imperium when the revolution had concluded on Octavius all those years ago but he had allowed himself into being fooled that they were proper revolutionaries. Once he became the undisputed leader of the Imperium he would be sure to correct that error.

"Hey, Krell, what do you think you're doing moping over there? Just seeing you in the room is bringing down the vibe..." Talen said with barely contained contempt. Krell wanted to simply ignore her but he could tell that if he were to try that ghoul would simply become more agitated and try some other means of getting at him and so he turned to face Talen looking at the 6ft Octavian to the other side of him. She looked the same as she always did with the sharp, pointed claws on her hands and a variety of gems and jewels located all over her metal body with rubies and emeralds covering the shell. Krell knew that each and every one had been artificially created but this wasn't exactly something that concerned Krell all too much, what was more concerning were the metal tentacles attached to the back of her head. Octavian females had shared that feature back when they were organic and that was exactly where Krell took issue with it! That Talen would cling onto her old organic form was the sort of thing that should've gotten her assimilated long ago but alas Krell hadn't been that fortunate yet.

"Allow me to sit in peace Talen. We are only a few minutes from landing and then we can be free of each other! I do not want to waste my time with you so go back to your gossip with Na!" said Krell. His voice was filled with distain as he spoke his lighting glowing a deep pink to signify his annoyance with the Imperial Hand. Talen started to rise but was stopped by a hand from Na leading her back to her seat.

"Come now darling, there's no need for that. Leave Krell to his brooding and we'll have ourselves a good time on the surface...or at least as good of a time as we can considering this is a human party..." Na said as she tried to prevent the two from ripping each other apart. Krell gave her a look as he rose in opposition to Talen, Na at least wasn't as horribly tacky as Talen was sporting a plain black shell adorned with screens located on her head and chest. The chest mounted one was currently blank but the screen located on her face had two white dots which served as eyes currently looking at Talen in the hopes she'd back down. With a look to Na and then one back to Krell it seemed that Talen was content to end this confrontation here as she sat back down with a loud metallic thunk.

"Ugh, fine...but only because you asked so nicely..." Talen bared her teeth to Krell as she said this, the movement of her mouth not bound to her actual speech as she did both at the same time. "Are we landing yet?"

Krell immediately went back to ignoring Talen as he sat back down, a little disappointed that he had missed the opportunity to knock Talen around. It turned out that she would receive her answer soon as the shuttle began to slow and the sensor array outside of it began to indicate that the three Mechanators were approaching solid ground. As the shuttle landed in sunny Jaktoo International Airport the three Imperial leaders disembarked and moved to their motorcade in utter silence. Krell knew that Talen and Na were likely conversing via the Aether where he couldn't listen into their conversation, a mercy that he amazed that the two decided to extend to him. Krell's red robes creased under him as he sat in the car - a form of transport he found curious in its backwardness - and took in the festive sights that the city had to offer him. It was nothing that wasn't utterly dwarfed by what he could find in the Imperium but for what it was Krell did find it somewhat impressive.

As the car stopped outside the ball itself Krell split himself from the other two wordlessly on a path directly to Laura Ortiz hoping to avoid any more of their yammering and casually reactionary rhetoric. Ortiz had been respected by The Paramount and so Krell reciprocated that same respect even if Laura was still lamentably organic. He strode towards her, ignoring any odd looks that a robotic alien with tentacles budding from his back may receive from the otherwise terrestrial participants of this party, and opened a panel on his chest containing some kind of black metallic pad.

"Hello there Mrs. Ortiz, it is a pleasure to meet you once more." Krell said as a mechanical tentacle extended from his back and stretched in front of him in what could be assumed to be a handshake, "I fear to tell you that The Paramount couldn't attend due to his...passing." His voice lowered as he spoke the words before he quickly pivoted, "However let's not ruin the mood of this party with such things! If you reach inside the panel you should find our gift for you. It is a holographic projector containing a connection to Octavian media allowing you to watch our productions whenever you please. Don't worry about the language barrier, I've had it modified so that it will translate to English automatically." he finished as another tentacle fished out the pad and extended it to Laura.

Sha'Na and Tal'Talen weren't nearly so impressed by the party in front of them. Ortiz for all her potential usefulness was still just an organic at the end of the day and neither of the Imperials thought that those forms of life could provide much in the way of fun for those like them.

<You see anyone interesting? I'm already bored...> Talen said as she leaned against a nearby pillar, <If you can't find shit to do here maybe we can just run automatically and do something cool in the Aether. Sure we can find something worth doing there.>

<Ooh wait just a moment Talen I think I've got something for us...> Na said as her scanners picked up on two anomalies in a room full of fully organic life, <I believe there may be some others like us here, they might be halfers but they're definitely partially Synthetic. Either way I'm sure they won't be such a bore compared to these pink apes walking around.> Na did not wait for a response from Talen to begin her path towards Enya and Thalia knowing that her plus one wouldn't be long behind her.

"Why hello there! My name is Sha'Na, the Economic Liaison of the Octavian Imperium and this here-" Na gestured her hands to Talen who stood next to her, "-is Tal'Talen, the Imperial Hand. I just wanted to ask you two how the party was treating you so far, we've just arrived and we were curious about what we should expect." She said as Talen crept up behind her and wrapped her metal arm around Na's shoulder.

"Ugh, why do you always have to use talk all fancy all the time! I almost wish Krell did ban all that rich talk like he said he would, damn!" Talen said to Na before looking towards the two Replikas, "She's asking whether or not the party's boring. With organics running it I'd imagine that it is but maybe they've managed something interesting." she said as Na's digital eyes bored into the side of her head.

"...I suppose that was what I was getting at, yes." said Na as she waited for the two to answer the question.

Enya seemed… a bit perplexed by this. She was… well, was she the more socially awkward one? Enya always babbled on and on and on, while Thalia was more adept with her words- but could also be more hesitant to use them. It was a complicated synergy, but they covered each other’s weaknesses fairly well as a duo. This often served them well at events- and it was why they tended to stick together. And of course, it was why they worked so well together in general. And it was probably a piece of the puzzle that was the success of their relationship, frankly. The two of them really seemed to bring out the best in each other, and anyone who was close to them would corroborate that. In any case, Thalia quickly picked up on Enya’s confusion. Sigh… this happened sometimes. Enya could really be like a kid sometimes in a couple of ways… although the innocent joy that her wife had somehow managed to hang on to even after… well, killing people… anyways, it brought her no small amount of happiness. As long as her wife was happy, she was. But enough of that- it was time to do the talking, because Enya wasn’t going to. Not initially, at least.

“In all honesty, we haven’t found much to do here. Nobody even approached us to take the gift we brought off of our hands, so we’ve more or less just been standing around. But I’ve always been the insufferable shut-in, so maybe I know nothing about what makes a party boring.” With the initiative taken, Enya internally felt like she actually had a turn to take in this conversation. After all, she was mostly only confused by being suddenly approached. She had been… expecting their first interaction to be with a Gonswanzan of some sort, frankly, and when it wasn’t… well, she no longer knew what to expect. Thankfully, the ever-dutiful Thalia had relieved her of the need to take initiative, which allowed her to actually wrap her silly little head around what was going on.

“Agreed. We’ve been doing… well, nothing, honestly… anyways uh… introductions…” Enya straightened her posture a bit, and cleared her throat purely ornamentally. “I’m Enya- Overseer of the Federation, and this is Thalia- my wife, and C-2 on the Panel of Chairpeople within the Federal government. It’s a pleasure to meet you both.” Truth be told, Enya was still a bit confused- mostly at why they hadn’t been approached by any Gonswanzans yet at a Gonswanzan party, but oh well. Such was life for the little one, apparently- being confused about Gonswanzans wouldn’t do her any good in this interaction.

Speak of the devil, and they shall come... With Ortiz's seeming aide, perhaps, approaxhing in her dress, whistling over a few aides, though upon realizing that the Replika and the other synthetucs were locked in conversation, she simply backed off out of respect.

The others who still had gifts would hace aides approach to take them and add them to the gallery, the delay thanks to mild confusion and delay in orders, though reps from MoTI were quick to step in where the event organizers failed.

Elsewhere, Juanita seems to vanish backstage, with some new faces slipping in as it seems something was being prepared...
Praise our glorious leader Laura Ortiz!
