The Valanora Footballing Association proudly presents the fifty-ninth edition of the Di Bradini Cup, the twenty-seventh edition of which to be held in the Valanora. Recognized as direct successor to the original Under-21 World Cup run by Total n Utter Insanity, this is also the 80th Under-21 World Cup.

This tournament is named after Starblaydia's most-famous player, the first person to score for Starblaydia's own Under-21s, currently the fifth-highest goalscorer in Starblaydia's history, World Cup Winner, member of the World Cup Hall of Fame and one-time President of the World Cup Committee: Simeone Di Bradini. We present, for your participation: The 59th Di Bradini Cup, a.k.a. The 80th Under-21 World Cup!

To sign up for the tournament, a roster must be posted as your entry. Reserve posts or pure signup posts will be ignored. A maximum of two entrants from a single user is allowed, with any puppet needing to be declared upon their signing up for the tournament.

The darkest and heaviest (musically, not physically) team of the DBC is back. The Snowy Owlets' last outings at the DBC have been less than spectacular, so the Tikariotian Premier League once more is sending its best youngsters, including some dual nationals.

The fans of the Snowy Owls/Owlets also deserve particular mention. Not only are they renowned for their chants, but they are also bringing the Thunder Clap (Click here for example) to the stadium, something that the players join in as a pre-game ritual that has left an impression on the opponents and opposing fans more than once (OOC: similar to the Haka of the New Zealand All Blacks). The players will form a triangle near the kick-off circle and lift their arms, which the fans do as well. Then a lone drum will start to signal the rhythm and both players and fans alike will move in unison, each clap accompanied by a loud cry, the claps (and cries) speeding up, creating an overwhelming sense of impending doom.

Kanzlia, formally recognised as Gracious Kanzlian State, is an island kingdom on the far north of Esportiva. The country is divided into 7 provinces. Its main island, Kalta, consists of nearly 85% of the country's population whilst the smaller island of Farioli makes up the rest. The seat of power in Kanzlia lies on its southernmost and largest port city of Szbedansk. It’s followed by the cities of Kotr, Tergtheim, and Ibsia. The country is well known for the cold.

The Kanzlian National Football Team (Also known as Voetbalvereniging Kanzlia) was founded in 1900 but Kanzlian Football, in its current pyramid, was only finalised in the 1990s. Prior to this, a double league system was utilised. Anyhow, football is by far the most popular sport in Kanzlia with stadiums jam-packed full in every match of the season. Kanzlia with its history of hardships and prolonged periods of misery has resulted in a deep connection between the sport and Kanzlian society. The culture of the sport is one of fiery passion but also with a noticeable aspect of humbleness. A pundit said that Kanzlians are the sorest of losers during the 90 minutes, but once the game ends they switch back to normal often with an optimistic mood regardless of the result.

Located in the Philippine archipelago, Panay Islands and Guimaras has been a touristic hotbed because of its beaches and nature conserving tourist attractions which the government funded. The Panay Islands and Guimaras dominion is consisted of 5 autonomous provinces and 1 federal canton.

Sports has been so popular amongst Panayenses and is heavily funded by the government. The main sports were football, basketball, volleyball, boxing, rugby, and Australian rules football, or as we call it "balonpié".

Burnham-on-Stove

Burnham-on-Stove is a city state of 54 square kilometers located in Anaia. It used to be a district whitin Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and it's named after William Robert Burnham, a pirate and friend of Jean-Jacques Le Boucannier. In september 1923, several communist districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, mostly of English origin, declared their independence and formed the new nation of Burnham-on-Stove. The Burnhamese Communist Party is the only authorized party in Burnham-on-Stove. The national animal is also the Tapir.

500: The first documented permanent Aztec settlements in Nova Calania dates from around 500 AD.

1748: Explorers of Polish origins came to the area just south of Krytenia and southwest of Ibixa and founded the town of Ostrow Krolewski on the shores of the Ocean of Ayes. They named the area Odlegla Ziemia (Distant Land).

1760-1820: Odlegla Ziemia expanded southwest and further inland on the east.

2025: On may 15th 2025, leaders from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, Burnham-on-stove, Odlegla Ziemia, Shanzhou and the Nova Calanian Aztec Confederacy united together to form the United States of Nova Calania. Uniforms

Lisander National Teams retains its contract with a famous feline sports apparel manufacturer. For the second year of the current cycle, a "fluo update" in the uniforms reaches the National Elevens. With a new white jersey being released, with a striking fluo-green sash, the second uniform changes from White/Green/White to All White, while the primary uniform replaces its white shorts for green ones, playing entirely in the main national colour as the first option. The first jersey, in two shades of green, was only slightly updated from the look used since World Cup 93, with new fluo green applications in the sleeve cuffs and in the collar.

After a one-cycle absence, the Kytlerians are back in the DBC, and once again it's with a different managerial team. This time it's the Aardswood United crew of Thomas Hooker and Aaron Blair - both of whom came from the Ranford & Willsbrook organisation that broke strikingly into the IFCF spots a couple of seasons ago with the help of a clear tactical identity. Hooker, with Blair in tow, bought that philosophy on the short ferry hop to Aardswood and incorporated multiple academy products into a startlingly youthful side that surged back out of the second tier in his first season and stayed comfortably enough in the NSL after that.

So what is that philosophy? A 4-1-4-1 where the holding midfielder sits deep to free up the full-backs to charge forward, while the front five are fluid and all expected to have defensive responsibility; R&W have incorporated a more explicit false 9/false 10 combination to account for the skills of Benjamin Zbogar-Zolnir (and, latterly, Zahid Tahirovic) as a pressing forward and Katrina Frisk as an (extremely) undersized poacher, but this team doesn't have the former to the same extent - Goings might fit that, but the more conventional Packard is an obvious first choice. It does, however, have Sigurdsdóttir as a natural fit in the Frisk role, while both Rirvymoles and Sylvia Villa carry "next Vincent" tags on some level (the former based on his teenage hype and the latter because of literally making appearances in Vincent's old position at RSM).

Whatever else this team is, it's one that's strikingly light on the BFGs that have traditionally been the counterweight to the Kytlerian tradition of small-bodied, big-lunged athletes who wear you down - in fact none of the outfielders could truly be described as fitting that (though reserve goalie Odinsson certainly does). This may not be quite the same tactical look as the senior side's 4-2-3-1 under Andrew Patterson, but even more than that team, it leans into that Kytlerian tradition of stamina and speed over strength and size when it comes to physical attributes. Most teams will find it far, far easier to outmuscle this team than to outplay or (especially) outrun them, and they will very much benefit from strict refereeing.

Tactics:
Manager has been instructed to retain the slightly aggressive 3-5-2 formation the senior squad uses in order to build familiarity and consistency from the U-21 squad to the senior squad. This formation is intended to maximize the wingbacks' strengths without neutralizing the rest of the team's impact. The young wingbacks' stamina allows them to go forward and cautiously assist in attack to create goal-scoring chances while still being able to get back and provide numbers to stop opposition scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, the Centerbacks, Central Midfielders and Forwards create a solid pillar through the heart of the pitch that is intended to both be an alternative route to goal scoring and a multi layered obstruction to the opponents.

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

The experience of dealing with youth teams, even if it was only as just an assistant manager, paid off quite well for Volheim as he is now a key fixture in the national team program and likely to stay so long as the success at both the youth level and the senior level sustains itself. Shifting his ability to communicate with the young players under his command from the assistant position to the manager position will be a huge question, but he will look to capitalize on his experience with the senior team and his time as Faeron's assistant to try and take the Young Marauders forward. Surviving the change in management in the national team staff, thanks in large part to carrying the team to a win in the previous DBC, Volheim looks to continue a budding youth tradition for the Empire.

A former national team level goal keeper, Julius has been brought on to replace Thor who held the role during the last tournament and has been working around the Raynor City United youth teams the last few years. With no formal role in management until this appointment, it will be interesting to see how the once frantic goalkeeper can translate his playing time experience into a managerial role and be a bridge between the manager and the players.

The time has come for the Rinaldi twins and the female half of the pair is a stellar reflexive keeper who has over the past two years put in a lot of training on being able to handle one on one opportunities as well as other counter attacking moves, which had previously been a major weakness for her. She has clearly won the number one shirt, a lot of that thanks to playing in the Silver Cup for Club ESF over the last few seasons, giving her first team experience that her peers lack. Larsen has a bit more size to him than Rinaldi, standing a few inches taller than her, but lacks the same instinctive reflexes that give Tanya the edge in those dangerous opportunities for the opponents. Wangberg really only is on the team because the team needed a third keeper and there was few enough other eligible players of the right age for the position, though his coaches at Mar Sara do say that he has promise, but it has yet to be seen.

There is quite a few question marks in defense and while that does not mean that the players lack the talent to be playing on this level, it shows really how shallow the current national pool is especially for the youth team. That being said, Berggren and Achen are two solid choices to be anchoring the center of defense with the latter being quite the vocal leader at the back and that sort of communication skills could shore up the defense as they look to grow into the games and the tournament as a whole. Waage is a bit of wildcard, having recently been promoted form the Blades reserve team to their first team and so gets a nod at fullback on sheer upside of talent than proven ability, which Nyman behind him as shown with the Spurs in the limited minutes the fullback has gotten. The right back spot is definitely the weakest as Linnea Øygarden is a similar sort of player to Waage on the left, both getting bumped up to Soldarian's first team in the last year, though she is known to have a good amount of pace and in the modern age pace is dominant, while Kielland is a bit too untested on any level to be trusted to start right now.

Two years after there was a wealth of proven talent driving the Marauders midfield, it will be a competition for the understudies as well as a few unknown quantities and a few late bloomers. One of those later bloomers was Sander Vestbø who over the course of the last twelve months went from a rotational player in United's reserve team to playing on occasion for the senior team, such has been their growth to see the game and be a disruptive force for opposition attacks. Also in the middle will be Melwin Öberg, a decent playmaker from Capri but has seen little actual time with the first team of the Typhoons and could perhaps be the weak link but the pool is a bit shallow at central midfield right now. That's because most central midfielders prefer to play in a more advance role and that's where Meadows will look to absolutely shine after learning from Jaeger both at international and club level, looking to pick up where he left off as the Mar Sara lineage continues in the U21 national team. On the flanks both Forsberg and Foss are solid enough options with a touch of pace and both offer a lot of the same when it comes to crossing the ball in or making driving runs into the box.

Forwards

In attack is the other Rinaldi twin who will look to use his combination of size and pace to be able to bully opposition defenders with either hold up play or running at them. A good nose for goal and an aggressive attitude, he is a fine choice at striker but Holm off the bench offers even more pace than he being a bit more lithe than Rinaldi is. Holm also has a nose for a goal and with both of the players having played quite a bit for their club teams at this point, it really is only Drake's unique set of gifts that set these two apart. The third option is young Bastian Østby, who plays over in Kelssek, and is on the team to add a bit of depth but is not expected to see any action on the field unless the team is blowing an opponent out.

Tactics

With a new manager on the senior level, Volheim has had to adopt a new formation so that the team is playing in a way that is similar to the senior team for those who do end up making the grade and getting called up to the senior national team at some point in their career. Adopting a back four for the time being, the team will look to suffocate their opposition out with a crowding out in the middle and looking for the wingers to cut inside on the attack with the fullbacks staying wide and forward to provide width. It places a lot of responsibility on the lone striker to convert the chances that are made for them but with three players in the box and another two lurking outside it in the attack, there should be plenty of support apart from when the team breaks on the counter. Defensively the additional defender as well as a screening midfielder should keep the unit strong enough that the attacking talent should usually get enough goals to win most games.

Kieran Elliott

Elliott is still an up and coming goalkeeper but hes already tipped as one of the best of his generation, he is the last goalie to ever train under the watchful eye of the best keeper ever Keenan Fortuna.
Kieran is the 2nd goalkeeper behind Taylor at Cascade but his skill is exceptional and experts say that it would be safe to assume that Elliott eventually is to replace Taylor as 1st goalkeeper of Cascade, right now Elliott does focus on his youth career and after being part of the legendary U18 team that gained 3rd place in the last U18 world cup he is one to watch.

Ezra kenseth

As a regular at his team Star Unicorn its no surprise that Ezra Kenseth will fulfill a leading role in the current team, he may not be a strong leader but he is skilled and has experience on the highest level.
It is expected that he will be the leader of the defense and bring a sense of stability for the players in the back, he can make decisions under pressure and has domestic and international experience.
There is a chance for him to break through and reach the main team but with heavy competition for those limited spots on the senior team this will be his chance to prove himself on the tournament.

Geoffrey Richter

Geoffrey or Geoff Richter is a leader and motivator in ever sense, he is the heart of the team and is able to communicate with his players and help them grow to new heights despite his young age.
He is also a genius playmaker, he knows where to give the pass, where the spaces will open up no matter what the opponent does he is gonna be able to read their plays like a book.
As Captain of the team it his duty to create a new solid team out of a squad with many new faces, off the field he has the coach to help him but on the field its up to him to make sure that this generation becomes a success.
Geoffrey was also a leading player in the legendary U18 squad that got 3rd place in the last U18 world cup and he is seen as a leading player in a new potential ''Golden Generation'' for our country.

Lukas Lauritzen

Lukas Lauritzen after his brilliant preformannces in the U18 world cup in the legendary 3rd placing squad and also already making appearances for the senior team as a substitute in the World Cup 97 campaign he is a big name.
Hes tall, hes good at position and his shots are hard and unbeatable if you let him run free, he is a great player but never wants a leading role he wants to focus on the goal and nothing else.
Also is Lauritzen the starting striker for Blizzard Academy after replacing the retired Holly Moonlight a few years ago and he has done so very decently even if the big prizes in the league havent come to him just yet.
While he is not immediately a leader, he is certainly a player to watch out for because he'll put the ball behind you into the back of the net before you even realized what happened.

Eastfield Lodge Roster for 80th U21 World Cup

The Imperial Commonwealth of Eastfield Lodge is a vast conglomerate of nations and states that resides almost entirely in a separate dimension to the reality you all know and love - a bubble universe would be an apt description (the why is a long story, involving the Dreamed Realm and a threat to the existence of the entire universe). The one bit of the country that lies in the regular dimension is a tiny island in the northern seas of the famous sporting region Rushmore, which serves as a transport hub for travel across the region by conventional transport, and for travel to the Imperial Commonwealth via something called a Void Ship (think of it like travelling through a well controlled wormhole).

The history of the country is long and complex, but the key overview is that it is a very socialist Muslim constitutional monarchy, with a noted reputation as being one of the nicest places to visit in the entirety of the known multiverse - the most recent WA census puts the Imperial Commonwealth in the top 100 nations in several measures such as Safety, Compliance/freedom from crime, Tourism, Weather, Compassion, Niceness and Environmental Beauty, amongst several others; most of which are also ranked as the best in the Rushmore region. Because of the initial portal, the nation advanced forwards in leaps and bounds technologically due to intermingling with denizens of another dimension, various alien races from the universe in which the popular RLStates TV show Doctor Who is situated. Whilst these aliens used to take part in life in the Imperial Commonwealth, even forming the Eastfielder National Team for a number of tournaments, they no longer exist in this bubble universe, due to a dimensional shift no longer aligning the two dimensions - for now, Eastfield Lodge only contains those beings that you find elsewhere in the NS multiverse.

Whilst we are a fairly chill nation, we are still fairly socially conservative, and there are plenty of special rules visitors need to be aware of:

No Alcohol. At all.
No smoking or recreational drugs at all. Visiting team members/fans will be given replacement/cessation therapy if struggling to cope.
No public displays of affection. What you get up to in the privacy of your own hotel room is up to you, as long as it stays there.
There isn't a legally enforced dress code, but at least dress respectfully, the locals will appreciate you.
Cities are by and large car-free zones; make use of the extensive public transport system.
Don't worry about a language barrier, there is an inbuilt telepathic translation circuit within the visas that you will be issued - it translates all speech and text into a language you understand instantaneously.
No unhealthy junk food will be available, the country is too healthy for that. Also, the food will all be halal, but there is an extensive range of vegetarian/vegan options for those who insist.
Ignore all the cameras and the police presence. They're for the safety of everyone.
High-level technology pervades every aspect of society and life here, get used to it.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).
