Alabama Politics thread

Postby Jim Folsom » Mon Nov 11, 2024 4:03 pm

This thread is about Alabama politics only.We hope this thread gives NS users a better platform to discuss politics in the state of Alabama. We would appreciate for you to refrain from stereotyping as it is unproductive.

Alabama is one of the most unique places in the United States. It controls the port of Mobile and is a huge base to NASA.It is also one of the most corrupt places in America. We allow any type of conversation about Alabama politics whether it is : State, county, or city politics. If you are not from the state of Alabama you are welcome to ask questions but be respectful and like I said do not stereotype.

It would be nice if we didn’t latch on to a party and then just stick to it like a leech. We’re almost like Japan in a way.

Seriously, not even third parties will front a candidate here. The race is basically decided in the primary for a lot of places - I believe there were only two races with more than one candidate on the ballot this year in my area, one of which was of course the Presidential election.

I had a bit of a similar experience. With some races I just wrote in Doug Jones, Nick Saban, even my boss. Others I just kind of just bubbled in the one running because I didn’t feel like repeating the same three things.

That’s why I like him too. A Southern Democrat who isn’t a virulent segregationist in the 1940s is such a breath of fresh air. Although his personal conduct was very bad.

I would like to see that.
I would like to see the Constitution party nationally suck up conservative Republicans and Libertarians and leave the Rinos behind like the Republicans originally did the Whigs.

What is the sticking point?
They have been able to organize around an office and candidates enough to get on a ballot.
It is the low bar of most states that entertain grassroots party attempts that routinely come and go throughout local politics.

No thanks, your constitution already rivals that famous Loud House fanfic in terms of size, we don't need someone advocating for more of it. Yes, I know what the Constitution Party actually is.

About the constitution or the party? If it's the party, I know they're that small Christian Dominionist outfit. If the Constitution, it really is the largest governing document of any kind in the world.
