Today marks the anniversary of World War One, one of the deadliest wars in history killing around 20 million million people.
It will go down in the history books for the death and destruction, aswell as essentially leaving Europe a clean slate for new nations to rise. Setting up the later World war 2 and Cold War.

This would all begin when one man was shot in Sarajevo. The Germans nearly won but ultimately failed to capture Paris and ultimately surrendered 106 years ago.

In WW2 It is clear that the Axis were the bad guys, in this war it’s not as sure. The Austrians wanted revenge for their dead archduke, and everyone else was defending allies. But the central powers ultimately started the war, commuted horrors in Belgium and Armenia and sunk innocent ships.

Were the Central powers just retaliating to Serbian aggression. Or is history written by the victors and they were misunderstood?

My great great grandpa was a Russian solider in Battle of Osowiec Fortres or more commonly know as the Attack of the dead men. He sadly died at 40 years old a long time ago.

I had an ancestor who was in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, as part of the U.S Army's 82nd Division (today the 82nd Airborne Division).

I'd like to take a step back and imagine how crazy it is that one man's death altered the entire course of history post-20th century. Not much things you see on the geopolitical scale would be the same if Archduke Ferdinand wasn't in Sarajevo that day.

the causes of WW1 vs WW2 always makes me laugh.
ww1 was the result of a bunch of gunpowder being lit (double entendre because ferdinand was shot and europe at that point wasnt very stable)
ww2 was because a racist got power and did terrible things.
