[Repeal Request] - F7 Thread

Postby Orcuo » Sun Nov 10, 2024 5:40 pm

viewtopic.php?t=558194

This F7 thread I created as a joke was locked for spam, however I fail to see how that’s the case. This thread was created as:

1) A joke scenario, not meant to be taken seriously (hence "[SILLY STRINGS]" being in the name)

2) A F7 joke debate thread, where it was intended users would "debate" if ripple flags should be kept or removed. (i.e, my original post stating "I ask the F7 Council to list why they support or condemn ripple flags")

Given that this thread was clearly design for being playful (as is the nature of F7), I fail to see how this "wastes admins time" as it had nothing to do with any of the admin staff. Once again reiterating that this was NOT a serious thread.

I formally request that mod team reviews this and issues a response.

Second opinion / Appeal:

I uphold the original decision.

There are two factors in here that determine the lock: intent and effect. Intent can be subjective to judge. Yet you do, indeed, have a history of involved questions that fixate on minutiae and lobbying for inane changes. This thread is consistent with that, so its intent to waste time, troll, or spam, is moreso presumed than if someone else had posted it.

In its effect, we have a discrepancy in your defence between the nature of the topic (A petition to remove a feature, even if it has joke elements) and the posting game board that it's in. Discussion about the ripple effect isn't exactly banned. After all, you can have a thread where you debate whether people like or dislike the flag ripple effect. I think I've seen that a few times in the General board. You can have a serious proposal lodged to Technical about whether the feature should exit. But F7 isn't here for you to pick random parts of the site you don't like and campaign for their removal under the guise of irony or "joke scenarios".

It's just the wrong forum.

Understood.
