How are there 21,000 nations with more population than me?

Postby Foroclok » Tue Nov 05, 2024 4:56 am

My nation is nearly twenty years old. It was founded in 2005, and has been active most of that time.

Are there really TWENTY-ONE THOUSAND people who have been playing this game for a comparably long period of time to me?

Well, because of how population growth works in NS, they don’t necessarily have to be older, just lucky: population growth day-to-day is randomized between 6-11 million.

if growth is random between close measures it means that in the long term the growth rate is constant, because the numbers will overlap until equal amounts have come out

There's something else going on here. This nation I'm posting from was founded in 2016, and though it hasn't CTE'd since then that I can recall, it still has more population than your nation. I think you're underplaying how much time your nation has spent not existing.

I'm going to parrot what Koth said here - furthermore, if we look at your population chart, you were at 2.290 billion in mid-2016, which means in the first 11 years since you founded this nation, it was alive for roughly 1-1.5 of them.

Noting also how you only have one card, I assume you have CTE multiple times, meaning every time you did your population stopped growing, so as you kept doing so you slowly fell behind even if your nation was founded a while ago.

Not true - the real range is 5-7mil

I founded this nation, my first nation, December 14, 2016. In nearly eight years of consistent activity (save for about a year and a half combined where I answered no issues but kept logging in) I have nearly reached your pop levels. Actual nations your age have populations in the order of 47 billion, and infinitely more developed stats than your nation. I have individual puppets as old as this nation with more golds than all of your colored trophies combined.

The informal rule with population is that you tend to have about two billion population for every year of being alive. So if you were founded in 2005, I would ballpark that you should have had around 38 billion by now, +/- 1-3 for random variance. So you've probably been alive slightly over half of the time since you founded.

I founded this nation in December 2007 and I've got almost double your current population--and there are some 2800 nations ahead of me (that I'll likely never overtake unless they all pause for a while :p )...

Is logging in required for the population to grow?

Tinhampton wrote:the real range is 5-7mil

Is this the case regardless of whether or not you have vat-produced children?

Only to the extent that it stops your nation from CTEing: 60 days on vacation mode, 28 days otherwise.

Yes. The population system was last tinkered with before vat-produced infants first appeared in issues.

Ugh! I shouldn't have removed the vat-produced children--that sharply reduced my 'scientific advancement' stat... There was a possibility of getting the 'sex education' policy but I didn't... Ruined, I tell ya! Ruined!

Did they change this recently? It used to be 5-7.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see Tinhampton says it's still 5-7.

Logging in? Sort of. It's not like influence where you stop getting it after 7 days of inactivity. If your nation exists, you'll get it. But if it ceases to exist then you won't continue to gain population while it doesn't exist.

You must've been CTE'd for a total of ten years or so. I can say this because I was gone from 2014-2024, and your population is roughly equal to mine. Indeed, compare us to the likes of Rhanukhan or Godular.

I do regret being gone for so long, but I just couldn't stand General anymore...
