GCF Twenty20 World Cup 17 – RP, rosters, results thread
OOC thread

Welcome to Liventia for the 17th GCF World Twenty20 Championship. A total of 28 teams have entered the competition, which will be held over 14 matchdays (and 25 calendar days).

This is a T20 cricket tournament, a bat-and-ball game with a few similarities to and many differences from baseball. It is played between national teams. All games will take place in Liventia.

This is the roleplay thread and with the exception of hosting announcements, all out of character (OOC) chatter should take place in the OOC thread. Please post here only rosters and roleplays. Please ensure your RPs reflect the posted final results*, the only acceptable changes are the number of wickets that fell (except in the case of all-out innings).

Rosters
Please post a roster if at all possible. It is a basic courtesy to your opponents to do so given that cricket RP is, more so than for some other sports, very dependent on knowing the details of both teams. Teams that fail to post a roster by the time of the first scorination will receive a scorination rank penalty if they are ranked.

At bare minimum, your roster should include:
  • 11 players.
  • Your RP permissions (see below).
Preferably, your roster should also include:
  • One of your players as captain.
  • One of your players as wicket-keeper.
  • At least five of your players who are bowlers (including bowling all-rounders or batsmen who can bowl).
  • A basic indication of your likely batting order.
  • The colour of your kit (one-day cricket is played using a white ball and thus all teams must play in non-white kits such that the ball is visible against them).
You might additionally wish to include:
  • Reserve players; or instead of naming a starting 11, you might just list a larger squad for your opponent to choose from.
  • Player details, bios, tendencies, stats, etc.
  • Coaching staff.
  • History, tactics, stats.
  • Information about your touring fans.
  • Any other relevant information. This does not include home ground details, as all matches will take place in Liventia.

RP permissions
RP permissions work a little differently in cricket as it is almost impossible for one player to RP only about their own players. Therefore for the purposes of this tournament it is generally assumed that all players consent to having their opponents determine basic outcomes such as player scores and wicket incidences. You may clarify permissions relating to specific events or requesting certain focuses e.g. specifying that your players would never engage in Mankading, describing your team’s tactics.

You may (and are encouraged to!) clarify any other RP permissions e.g. whether your opponent may injure your players or godmod events (which means create bizarre and unusual circumstances that would never happen in real life like all 10 wickets falling to pace, all 10 wickets falling to spin, the ball landing in a pot of white paint… wait…).

Two tournament-wide permissions apply.
  • No violence towards the host country or destruction of the host country’s infrastructure.
  • No introduction of pandemics to the host country or to opposing teams.

You may wish to include the following RP permissions box with your roster/squad list to advise your opponents on their rights should they RP before you:
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Godmod match events: Y/N
RP injuries to my players: Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players: Y/N
*Godmod how my players were dismissed: Y/N
Create a full scorecard for my team: Y/N
Change the number of wickets that fell: Y/N
*It is assumed whoever RPs first has the right to select the method of dismissal, but not whether
there were godmod circumstances behind them (e.g. a ball hitting a bird before being caught fairly).

Please note all undeclared use of AI that is detected will be treated as plagiarism and result in a severe penalty. If you use AI in your RPs, you must declare it.

Style modifiers and result changes
There will be no style modifiers, for either teams or group-wide.
Results will be posted with their original scorinated result, but users may (upon agreement with their opponent, or based on permissions) change the number of wickets that fell for a more realistic result – except if they were all out.

Match information
The Decision Review System (third umpire TV review) will be in use. Each team will receive one unsuccessful challenge per innings.

Format and tiebreaker rules
The competition will take place with a Modified Casaran format, with the 28 teams split into four pots of seven. Each team will be drawn to play two teams from each pot for a total of eight matches in the League Phase. The top six teams advance to the Super Eight, while the next four teams advance to the knockout Eliminator.

Matches between teams in the Super Eight will carry over. The Super Eight will consist of two groups: Group A (1st, Eliminator 2 winner, 4th, 5th) and Group B (2nd, 3rd, 6th, Eliminator 1 winner). Therefore, it is possible that teams play fewer than three Super Eight matches.

The top two teams per group advance to the semi-finals.

In the League Phase and Super Eight, ties will not be broken by Super Over and will remain as ties.

In all knockout games, Super Over(s) will be played until there is a winner.

If any number of teams are tied on points in the League Phase, overall net run rate will be the tiebreaker. If any number of teams are tied on points in the Super Eight, head-to-head net run rate will be the tiebreaker.

Stadium information
The first listed match at a ground any given day begins play at 11:00, with the second listed match beginning at 18:00.

The Bastion Dover Cricket Ground, Dover
The Bastion is traditionally considered the spinners' paradise in Liventia, although the limited-over pitches at the Bastion, in addition to the ropes being pulled in, have levelled the playing field slightly. However, spin bowlers should still find plenty of joy at this ground. Capacity: 28,225. End names: Town End, Clock End.

Lewes Park, Neverend
Lewes Park first hosted international cricket in the sixth GCF World T20. Since then, the ground has been developed with funding from the Liventian Cricketing Board of Authority and has even served as one of Liventia's six home Test grounds. Situated about 40 minutes from Neverend city centre, shuttle buses will be provided to all ticketholders for matches at Lewes Park from the city's main train station. For the players, the cool air of the mountainous city will provide a different setting for cricket, and it is not unheard of for snow to stop early-season games here. Bowler-friendly. Capacity: 11,000 + 4,000 temporary. End names: Town End, Pavilion End.

Racecourse Ground, Talbott
Home to club team Talbott Downs, this ground hosted international cricket in the 6th and 7th World Twenty20 Championships as well as the 1st and 4th World Trophy tournaments. Located adjacent to the horse racetrack on the outskirts of Talbott, which provides the ground its name. The Liventian Cricketing Board of Authority has been investing in improving this ground to bring it up to Test match standards, and for this Championships the ground will have a permanent capacity of 9,500 with a temporary stand of 1,500. Capacity: 9,500 + 1,500 temporary. End names: Racecourse End, Grandstand End.

Folenisa Cricket Ground, Folenisa
The FCG is referred to in Liventia as "HQ" and is one of the country's most beloved grounds among players, with both bat and ball able to dominate at times during long-form games. The "HQ" nickname is derived as the headquarters of the Cricketing Board of Authority of Liventia are based on site. Capacity: 25,600. End names: Desert End, Walton Road End.

Island Cricket Arena, Schimpol
The only Liventian ground located off the mainland. Friendly to the fast bowlers, thanks to the ground being located just inland from the coast. The sea breeze often picks up, and aids seam and swing – not to mention makes catching high balls slightly tricky. Equally true in T20 cricket as in one-dayers and first-class games. Recently used for the 18th Summer Olympics, causing concerns over the pitches and outfield. Capacity: 27,500. End names: City End, Mainland End.

National Centre of Excellence Oval, City Centre
The second-largest ground in the country and home to Liventia's national youth academy, the pitches at the NCE Oval are friendly to batsmen. Bowlers will be tested if it's hot, although temperatures during the tournament are expected to be bearable in the low 20s. Capacity: 37,000. End names: Pavilion End, Academy End.

Park Central Oval, Orean
The 'home of Liventian cricket'. A batsman's dream, usually flat as a road in Test cricket. No different in the short-form stuff. It's about limiting the score when you bowl here, rather than trying for wickets. Capacity: 37,500. End names: Lothian End, Poplar End.

If your team does not represent a full strength international team of adult professional standard cricketers, then I will probably not RP about our game, but you are obviously free to.

AI declaration: The logo on the shirt was generated with AI; the shirt itself was bashed together in an online kit designer. Tried to use AI to create squad names and details, it was absolute gash. I kept some of the names and for the rest, I made like a confused visitor to the camel pen at a Barkhastani hospitality yurt and cranked it out by hand.

MURREN'S ROSTER FOR THE 17th GCF T20 WORLD CUP

Team info:
Full name: the Constitutional Monarchy of Murren
Nicknames: [size=114]the Rosepickers
Trigram: MRR
T20 World ranking: Unranked
Capital city: Fernwick
Captain: Helen Estigarribia
White ball head coach: Leonard Queen (47)

Articles:
A very brief overview of modern Murrenian history, as well as Murrenian cricket.
History of T20 cricket in Murren (and the national league)

The recent World Test Challenge campaign has seen plenty of hope for cricket in Murren for the future. Just so you could get a brief visualisation of their performance: a solid series defeat of Lisander & Alice Bay, followed by a heartbreaking loss and then a big win versus TJUN-ia, and afterwards ending with a tour of Darmen where the Rosepickers ended up being used as training fodder for the All Greens in preparation for the GCF All-Star match. Though the Murrenian specialty is the five-day format, the Murrenian Cricket Board (MCB) have decided to send a T20 team to the World Cup in Liventia, albeit mostly consisting of the same starting players from the WTC.

With their League Stage schedule opening up against none other than the Darmenis, there is a harsh margin of error ahead if they wish to qualify to the Super Eight. So in these circumstances (i.e. with the Murrenian team playing in their debut T20 cycle here) you can't hope for a lot to happen. (Or maybe yes if Margaret wishes to?)

THE VIELFALTIG NATIONAL CRICKET TEAM
17th GCF T20 World Cup
The Veiled Knights

Roster
Batting Line-up
#01 Richard Hafner (LHB, WK, 27) - Richard is a talented attacking batsman who provides the team with the dynamism required in T20 games. A crucial part of this is his ability to immediately go after bowlers in the powerplay itself helping the team put up a high total.

#02 Claire Gonzalez (RHB, 32) - Claire is an experienced member of the side having represented Vielfaltig in various formats and levels of international cricket. Her role in the side is one of contrast to Richard's as she provides a more measured approach to the batting lineup.

#03 Marcel Baumann (RHB, OB, 25) - Marcel, coming in at one down, is a player whose versatility is crucial to the team's composition. He adjusts his batting style to the position of the team, possessing the ability to play the role of the anchor as well as the aggressive run scorer.

#04 Graham Bellamy (RHB, 37) (C) - Captain Bellamy is the cornerstone of this batting lineup. He is the highest run-scorer across all formats in the history of Vielfaltig. Most recently he secured the award for the highest runs scored in the latest editions of the Quanta VT20 Slam and the Jerry Shuart Cup.

#05 Conway Wilmer (LHB, LFM, 24) - Wilmer is a talented all-rounder who has burst onto the cricketing scene of Vielfaltig quite shockingly. His growth has largely been a result of his player of the tournament performance in the Jerry Shuart Cup grabbing numerous wickets and scoring lots of runs with his batting.

#06 Flavie Fierro (LHB, 31) (VC) - Fierro is a lower-order power-hitter who is also perfectly capable of stepping in and holding the batting line-up together in case of a collapse. She holds the record for the quickest century by a Vielfaltigian batsman in T20s and will be one to watch out for opposition bowlers.

#07 Doris Ventura (RHB, LB, 34) - Ventura is an all-rounder who holds her position at a crucial juncture of the batting lineup. She is the last player who holds significant batting proficiency and thus must always be careful with her style of batting as it only gets weaker after her.

#08 Juliane Schottmer (RHB, RFM, 26) - Schottmer is a bowling all-rounder who plays an important role in the middle overs especially when the team needs a breakthrough. She is also useful in grabbing a few runs for the team and can provide that last stretch for the batting lineup.

#09 Marius Adam (RHB, RF, 29) - Adam is a great bowler who is greatly threatening with the new ball. He opens the bowling for Vielfaltig being particularly effective in the powerplay. He however is also known to go for significant runs in his search for wickets, his line and length often vary.

#10 Kristopher Stringer (LHB, LF, 26) - Stringer is the apex bowler of the side who is utilised whenever the side needs wickets. Opening the bowling with the new ball, he is then more often than not reserved for the death overs to conserve runs in the last stretch.

#11 Paul Anderson (RHB, CH, 33) - Paul Anderson comes into this tournament following a great domestic campaign especially picking up the most wickets in the Quanta VT20 Slam. He is a huge asset to the team as the best spinner in the side and the primary threat for the opposition in terms of wickets in the middle overs.

Reserves
#12 Martha Feldt (RHB, WK, 21) - A young keeper-batter, Feldt, will be looking to embrace the experience of such a tournament even if he does not get an opportunity to feature. A middle-order batsman he is symbolic of the new era batting style which is aggressive showing no restraint.

#13 David Dohman (LHB, 24) - Dohman similarly to Feldt is a young talent of great promise. His inclusion in the side is mostly to provide him with exposure to the standard and level of competition internationally. He is also a greatly aggressive batsman and may be played if the team requires aggression.

#14 Fermin Masi (RHB, OB, 27) - Fermin is an all-rounder who bats in the top order and thus can provide an additional bowling option in case the team needs one. He is a competent batter at the top of the order and can comfortably bowl four overs at a good economy even picking up some wickets.

#15 Romane Trapani (LHB, LFM, 23) - Romane is a young left-arm pacer who is one of the best swing bowlers on the side. He however does not cut the side due to his poor economy and struggling form. In case he gets an opportunity to feature, he will be hoping to make the most of it.

Formerly the jewel in the crown of the Empire, the Socialist Republic of Aryavarna is now free and independent, and doing what all good new countries should do as their first priority: getting their cricket team in order. 15 brave souls,1 led by captain Rohan Deshmukh, and coached by former great Abhinav Kapoor, departed from Ravipura on an Air Aryavarna flight to Rushmore, where they will touch down in Liventia and begin a campaign that, for hundreds of millions of Aryavarnans, will mean as much if not more than the campaign for independence – the T20 World Cup.

T20 cricket arrived in Aryavarna a few years ago, but it’s not been the smoothest of landings. As of yet foreign players have not exactly flocked to the country, beyond a few White Libesians who’ve felt the winds of change blowing through their own nation and a handful of Barkhastani seam bowlers trying to escape domestic bans for match-fixing, ball-tampering, or both; some Caribbean players are expected to be exciting additions once we get around to making a generic Caribbean puppet I mean uh once the NOC issues are worked out.

As well as quality, the style of play in Aryavarna may not also be the most conducive preparation. T20 having been taken less seriously than first-class and List A games, matches have been relegated to poor quality secondary stadiums, with games played on turgid pitches. As such most Aryavarna players arrive with experience of nudging around totals of 120 and defending on pitches helpful to wobbly medium pace and any kind of spin: the truer surfaces of top international wickets may expose the Aryavarna bowling, while the batting may struggle to keep up with the meaty power hitting of more seasoned teams.

Many in Aryavarna hope the launch of the new Aryavarna Cricket League, with big investment money behind it, will change all that. Adopting a city based franchise model, with conglomerates2 and Vollywood stars as owners, the ACL will inject major cash into the sport, bring the games to the country’s biggest and best stadiums, and, according to its mission statement, “incentivise modern attacking cricket” in other words be completely one-sided in favour of batsmen. The ACL has not yet played its first season, but the auction has already taken place, with players at the World Cup listed according to the franchise for whom they will play in the forthcoming season.

The big cheques floating around in the wake of the auction mean a few of Aryavarna’s most established players have not risked the trip to Liventia; however, the feeling is many of them may have been temperamentally unsuited to T20 anyway having never grown up playing it, and the selection of a relatively young squad has actually strengthened Deshmukh’s hand.3 Particularly exciting among the explosive young batting talents in the squad are Aarav Singh, Yashveer Pandey, and Harshid Patil. But there are worries that the bowling looks thin, with the country’s premier pace bowler Naveen Mehta out with a groin injury.

“The bowling does look a problem, and the big issue is the lack of an outstanding quick,” says commentator Sandeep Kapoor [no relation to Abhinav]. The pace attack is expected to be spearheaded by the two Muslim players in the team, Imran Ansari and Zahid Khan, but neither are classed as express pace; while Prabhu Bhat’s classical swing action has found considerable success in Aryavarnan domestic cricket, his lack of pace – little more than gentle medium-fast – may not suit international cricket. Nor, despite Aryavarna’s reputation as a haven of spin bowling, are the spin options particularly rich. Sandeep Kapoor criticised the decision not to bring left-arm wrist-spinner4 Rohit Anand. “He would have added a lot to the squad,” says Sandeep Kapoor. Leg-spinner Aakash Malhotra will carry much of the responsibility, supported by allrounders Mehul Kapoor [also no relation] and Aarav Singh, and a range of part-time options to fill in overs.

The team’s most experienced player, wicketkeeper-batsman Arjun Thakur, says the team are excited to begin their international story. “We know we have millions of fans waiting for us back home and we obviously don’t want to disappoint them, but we also need to be realistic about what we can accomplish against much more experienced teams from much richer nations,” says Thakur.

Aryavarna’s first match will be against South Newlandia at the Racecourse Ground in Talbott, and will be broadcast live on BSN and RCA, with ball-by-ball updates on the Sports Tribune website.

1 4 additional players, bravery of respective souls unknown at time of print, accompanied them as stand-by players, available to be added to the 15-man squad in the event of withdrawal through injury or illness.
2 Aryavarna’s full national pretitle is the Socialist Republic But It’s Just Vibes.
3 In other words don’t worry, this is a full strength team.
4 I haven’t made a Chinese puppet yet either.

THE KYTLERIAN NATIONAL CRICKET TEAM SQUAD FOR THE GCF WORLD TWENTY20 CHAMPIONSHIP XVII

1. Dominic RANDOLPH (RHB)
2. Luuk BOSCH (VC) (RHB, right-arm fast-medium)
3. Stan PARKINSON (C) (RHB, right-arm off-spin)
4. Kevin WILLIS (RHB, wicketkeeper)
5. Joshua WALTON (LHB)
6. Brian MOLE (RHB, right-arm medium)
7. Wecoisus TAKLIK (LHB, left-arm orthodox)
8. Ed GARNETT (RHB, right-arm fast-medium)
9. Timothy THIRLWALL (RHB, right-arm fast-medium)
10. Robert RIVERS (RHB, right-arm fast-medium)
11. Alex BURNIDGE (LHB, left-arm fast)
12. Matthew BARKER-FORTUNE (RHB, right-arm leg-spin)
14. Daniel HILL (RHB)
15. Ben THOMPSON (LHB, left-arm fast-medium)
16. Angufams CLIRIPUTED (RHB, wicketkeeper)

The most common starting XI will be the 1-11 batting in that order, but this is subject to change based on injury and also pitch conditions; Barker-Fortune will be called upon on spin-friendly tracks, likely at the expense of Rivers. (Taklik is an all-rounder and Parkinson a part-timer, so the Kytlerians don't have an out-and-out frontline spinner in their basic starting XI.)

Uniforms are dark green with a yellow swirl on the shirt and blue sleeves/collar.

RP permissions: no godmodding, TG first for injuries, otherwise whatever.

IC background for this team: The Kytler Peninsulae is a nation of around 22m people, much of it concentrated not on the titular two peninsulae jutting westward from the Pavolan part of Rushmore but along the "Eastern Corridor" connecting them and bordering (the land formerly known as?) Græntfjall. (There are also about a million in the exclave of Bitternea, on the eastern Xandrian Sea shore between Tikariot and Nyowani Kitara, whose sportspeople can compete for Kytlerian teams - including a couple in this team.) That said, when it comes to summer sports, the north/south peninsular divide is relevant; the northern peninsula is more rural, with much of its population of English origin, and this is where cricket is the main summer sport. The southern peninsula, with a large Vephra population amongst other groups, historically prefers baseball, and the Eastern Corridor has non-mutually-exclusive fanbases for both in its populous, diverse cities. (Some Eastern Corridor baseball pitchers have become cricketers in recent years, lured by the prospect of maybe, possibly being able to complete their entire career with two working elbow joints. This includes Mole and Taklik on this national team.)

After an unexpectedly successful run in the World T20, the Kytlerians bought most of that squad over for the ODI World Trophy, and they did pretty well there too, at least to start; they won their initial group but were bottom of the top-stream second-phase group in that particular format and then lost a repechage match to Darmen (no shame in that) to miss out on a quarter-final berth. After a Test return went less well, here comes the short-form fun again!

Useful information for those writing scorecards: Bosch will score quick runs; he's gone from middle-order masher to tone-setting opener after a series of impressive performances at the last World T20. Along with Mole and Taklik, he's a genuine all-rounder; this team can and will definitely spread the bowling load across more than five, though Burnidge and Thirlwall are probably the pick of the bunch (at least on the latter's recent breakout form) and are the likeliest to get key overs at either end of the match. The batting is also deep, just not exactly starry after the inherently volatile Bosch and the more Test-oriented Parkinson; expect runs to be spread around as often as not.

KATZEBURGIAN NATIONAL CRICKET TEAM

Cricket in Katzeburg is very much a western delicacy - the sport, brought over to the island of Katzeburg from sailors visiting the cities of Konigpool and Harmouth, has not had a huge history to it in terms of competitive sport. Mostly played as a way to pass the time between boats needing unloading, it wasn’t until a few years ago that a higher class of Katzeburgians started to pick up on the sport.

With a little more interest and funding behind it, the sport quickly took off in the region, with Katzeburg’s three most western states - Sheptonshire, Konigstadt, and Wesleighshire - forming teams and playing competitive matches on an irregular basis.

It is with a view of expanding the reach of the sport further in Katzeburg that the national federation was formed in Konigpool with a view of promoting the sport. With their first entry in the GCF T20 World Cup, Katzeburg are aiming to make their mark on international cricket and hopefully spark wider interest in the game.

Schedule

MD1 - Lisander and Alice Bay (16) vs Katzeburg (UR)
MD2 - StrayaRoos (28) vs Katzeburg (UR)

Squad

Katzeburg's first ever national side is made up of a number of players across the three existing state teams, with players from Sheptonshire making up just over half of the 15-person squad. Captain Wally Crouch from Konigstadt will lead the side into their first ever international competition, hoping to act as the core anchor of the side from his number four batting position.

Jerry Vaughn will be the side's first-choice wicket keeper, with the controversial man from Wesleighshire known in Katzeburgian cricket circles as a player who will try anything to rile up the opposition batters mid-game - this has resulted in a handful of Wesleighshire games called off due to fist-fights which have broken out on field, often when Vaughn's side find themselves very far behind.

Star of Katzeburg's bowling line-up is young spinner Dax Lehmann, with the 17-year-old the youngest player in the squad and a potential long-term star for the national side, often causing opponents headaches with his looping efforts which are known to spin with a devilish turn.

The below squad is listed in batting order from 1-11, with 12-15 regarded as reserves.

T20 Sucks but Cricket is Fun So We're In Anyways

Milchama has again entered a team in by far the worst and least popular format of the game in the country. Due to admitted laziness on the part of the MBC, they submitted the exact same roster of last cup with no changes as the president said, "Nobody really cares and they seemed to have fun last time so we'll give them another shot. Isn't that nice?"

It is nice! We hope they have fun! They might even win a game! Wouldn't that be great! Anyway, we expect nothing and hope for the best because winning is fun.

Here's the roster:
Milchama play in red with black as a secondary color. The uniforms kinda look like Zimbabwe IRL with black replacing the yellow.
Milchama is coached by George R. Finch, 38 from Quebec. No Milchamian wanted the job and nobody understands why he took this dead end job but good for him!

1. Roy Roverson - RHB Top Order Batter
2. Gilat Margaret(c) - LHB Top Order Batter
3. Larry Garakick - RHB Top Order Batter
4. Lauren Rabitz - RHB Top Order Batter
5. Dell Tzefard (wk) - RHB Middle Order Batter
6. Josh HaChol - RHB Middle Order Batter
7. Eddie Raboniwitz - LHB Batting All Rounder (Leg Spin)
8. Solomon Garrison - RHB Bowling All Rounder (Fast)
9. Gary Arieh - RHB Off Spin
10. Jamie Havern - RHB Fast Bowler
11. Jordy Baker - LHB Fast Bowler

Others in the Squad:
Benny Huant RHB Double bowler. Generally bowls medium pace but will occasionally bowl off spin.
Davie Davis RHB Batter
Eleora Chen LHB Bowling All rounder (Off spin)
Dawn Pualson RHB Fast Bowler
Gavy Lemalah - RHB Batter
Jan Hallopt - LHB Top Order Batter
Marion Wimples - All Rounder (Medium Fast)

Permissions: Do whatever. If you make a scorecard please do my team as well. Remember that Milchama is a baseball playing nation first and foremost so a lot of these players will look kinda like baseballers. Also this means we are ridiculously pro Mankad as pickoffs exist.
Milchama Sports achievements:
World Baseball Classic 23 Champion! Arrosia Regional Championship 2 Champion!
Note: The demonym is Milchamian. There are two of the letter "I(i)" and not one.

3x CoH winner (29, 46, 50) 3x WBC winner (4,5,23), 1x World Cup host (32), 1x ARC Champion, Various other minor trophies there's a football club trophy, a kleptochase trophy, Other minor international football trophies.

The Crpostranian Cricket Council
presents
The Men in Blue
for
the T20 World Cup - 17

Cricket is the most popular bat-and-ball sport in the country, brought into the nation by traders from Veridonia in the 1600s. What started off as a sport for the elite Veridonians (the people who had colonised the Crpostranian islands before), quickly spread through the country, as many Crpostranians attempted to get in touch with Veridonian culture. Fast-forward a few hundred years, and cricket remains as the second most popular team sport in the country after football. The Crpostranian Cricket Council (CCC) was established in 1961, and the first major domestic league, the Crpostranian Cricket League (CCL) was established soon after. The CCC was quick to invest into the shortened formats, the ODI & T20s as people were more interested in shorter plays. On the international level however, Crpostran are minnows compared to others, having played only in friendly tournaments within Karma, and the T20 WC is the first major international cricket tournament where the nation plays in. The Men in Blue will be playing in....you guessed it. BLUE! The home kit of the team is of dark blue, with the away kit being a mixed, kaledioscopic pattern of yellow & red. Team roster & other important nation info. below!

Starting XI
Reginald Twaddle (32) Opener R/R fast for Burnet Rubies
Stanley Langhorne (36) Opener R/R med for Redberry Meadows Aldermen
Dominique Bercier (23) Batsman L/L med for Greencaster Heralds
Theophilus Armfellow (24) Batsman R/R med for Norille Chevron Vert
Cofan ySalw (27) Batsman R/R med for Willowbourne Zenith
Francis Barklas (23) All-rounder L/L orth for Mawrystwyth Mustangs
Adelmoed Wolslager (26) Wicketkeeper L/L fast for Greencaster Heralds
Algernon Renbeck (22) All-rounder L/L fast for Eastern Miners
Mitchell Enright (28) Spin Bowler R/R leg for Norille Chevron Vert
Borllog yLellmedd (31) Spin Bowler R/R off for Norille Chevron Vert
Harrison Gledhwiladen (22) Pace Bowler R/R fast for Burnet Rubies

A ruthless attacking team for the nth successive World T20s. Only three full-time bowlers named, which means that Barklas might not play in favour of a second pace bowler at 11 (likely Thugalihadhen) if Burress wants those four bowlers in there. Anyway, a team with three bowlers and two all-rounders might actually be what we roll with by default if no outside forces impart a change on us.

That's not to say that the players themselves are the same. The core is back, but the opening duo is completely different: Twaddle was a backup previously but like in Tests, we bank on him to start with his trademark risky opening gambits. With him is Langhorne, called on for the first time in the format, at age 36.

Behind them are three familiar faces: Bercier, Armfellow, and ySalw. Bercier is up first as the most grounded of the three: if either opener goes out fast, Bercier is better able to see out powerplay and get a rhythm from there, while Armfellow is a more technical hitter - who will go for his tricky shots no matter the situation - and ySalw as a powerful slugger no matter what.

Barklas, Wolslager, and Renbeck are a capable pivot point in the lineup, where Barklas, as one of the best T20 players in Ko-oren, needs little direction to do what he must. Renbeck is a better option for both innings combined, but tends to get more involved in how the team should operate, which has led to some discord at the Miners. He's one for the captain to manage.

The back three: Enright, masterful, technical, and can do it all. yLellmedd, a complement to Enright, but not as likeable and malleable. Gledhwiladen, new to the squad, but with promising talent we haven't seen since, well, Enright.

Extras
Alois Lyness (29) Opener L/L med for Aubury Maroons

Mary Igawuthen (18) Batsman L/L med for Aubury Maroons
Idhuhdhane Buhvithen (20) Batsman R/R med for Idyllwild Antlers
Lucius Letchford (31) Batsman L/L orth for Mayara Marauders

Emory Wakin (22) All-rounder L/L orth for Aubury Maroons

Valentine Butler (27) Wicketkeeper L/L fast for Penstead Pirates

Seymour Hastworth (20) Spin Bowler R/R off for Eastern Miners
Ferdinand Shoretree (21) Spin Bowler L/L orth for Mayara Marauders

Iris Thugalihadhen (18) Pace Bowler L/L fast for Penstead Pirates
Augustus Smith (30) Pace Bowler R/R fast for Idyllwild Antlers

Not all are equally likely to pop up. As mentioned, Thugalihadhen has a decent chance at appearing given the pace shortage on the standard XI. Lyness could be useful if a leftie is required in the opening duo. Igawuthen might not get her shot just yet, given her age, but is one to watch as a long-term engine behind the Ko-orenite run machine. Wakin has been the third all-rounder for a while but can't seem to improve his numbers enough to get a shout, and the same goes for Butler, in all honesty. Hastworth and Shoretree might not see any overs at all.

RP Permissions: no deaths or career-ending events.

Background
Cricket very much occupies the place of the Eastfield Lodge's second most popular sport, although it's not played to a generally high level. There is a professional setup spanning across the Imperial Commonwealth, with a relatively unique league system where all the teams in effect play multi-format tours against each other, with the aggregate across all formats determining national champions. To this end, even the best players in the country tend to be generalists, with few fast limited over hitters but also few ponderous test players as well. Whilst it makes for interesting dynamics domestically, on the international stage Eastfield Lodge have rarely performed well in any format, indeed being known as one of the worst performing Test teams whilst the ICCB was a Full Member in the GCF.

Aryavarna come sikheningly close to pulling off amazing run chase

South Newlandia 181-6 (Gayakwad 55, Saha 43; Aarav Singh 2-18) beat Aryavarna 178-6 (Naranjan Singh 32, Thakur 30; Gayakwad 2-21) by 3 runs

Aryavarna came within 3 runs of an unforgettable heist in their opening match of the T20 World Cup, battling back after a middle order slide to come within touching distance of overhauling an imposing total of 181 set by South Newlandia. When Krish Parekh’s slog found a safe pair of hands at long-off at 136-5, the game looked long gone for an Aryavarna reply that had fallen well behind the required rate. But the two young Singhs [unrelated], Naranjan and Aarav, nearly wrested something improbable from the hands of fate, combining to smash 33 runs off 12 balls and drag the team to within a chance of victory. Needing 20 off the final over, Aarav Singh whacked the first ball of Vedant Conroy’s over into the midwicket stands, but two balls later when Naranjan Singh tried to repeat the shot, he was robbed by a fine diving catch at deep square leg, leaving Mehul Kapoor with too much to do off the final deliveries. Having been 65-1 and in control of the chase, it was a disappointing slump from Aryavarna, though afterwards captain Rohan Deshmukh conceded that the team had allowed too many runs in the field.

That there were runs in the pitch was obvious after the day game, as Vielfaltig chased down 156 within 18 overs against Quebec & Shingoryeo, and Deshmukh may have got the balance of his team wrong, omitting a third seamer in preference for an extra all-rounder. But with Aryavarna’s 12 overs of spin ended up going for 88 compared to 85 off just 8 overs of pace, it’s difficult to argue that Imran Ansari would really have made the difference between the teams. Across both innings spinners fared better: Aarav Singh, with 2-18 off his 4 overs, and Gayakwad (2-21), were the respective picks of the litter, while South Newlandia’s seamers similarly struggled, going at more than 10 an over. In Aryavarna, day/night games are frequently heavily affected by dew, but that didn’t appear to be such a strong factor in Talbott and South Newlandia had no fear in batting first after winning the toss.

Zahid Khan made a little history with the first international wicket for an Aryavarna bowler, though unfortunately it wasn’t so much a memorable dismissal as a half-tracker lazily whacked straight to deep square leg for the simplest of catches, but then South Newlandia settled in and made good use of the powerplay as they built a 50 partnership for the 2nd wicket. Gayakwad, the best of the South Newlandian batters, batted sublimely, and while the introduction of Aarav Singh led to two quick wickets falling, to a sharp stumping by Arjun Thakur and a marginal LBW call upheld on review, Gayakwad kept the innings flowing. Aarav Singh, bowling a tight wicket-to-wicket line, was by far the best of the three Aryavarna spinners, and showed up the more experienced specialists, Kapoor and Aakash Malhotra. Malhotra was disappointing, dragging his length short too often; his best contribution came in the field, with a diving catch at deep square leg that took interminable third umpire reviews to confirm. Khan eventually bounced out Gayakwad, who top-edged a simple catch to Deshmukh in the covers, but by then the damage had been done, and a punchy unbeaten 29 off 14 balls from Panyin Banerjee speeded South Newlandia to a staggering 181 off their 20.

Aryavarna made a strong start to their reply and raced to 47-0 off their first 5 overs, but Manan Chauhan fell to a groan-inducing strangle off his pads, and Deshmukh, who had started brightly but then batted out a frustrating series of dot balls, could only find long-off with a swipe as he attempted to regain momentum. Yashveer Pandey was the least convincing of the young debutants, prodding a nervy run-a-ball 13 before misreading a Gakaywad arm-ball, and when Thakur guided one back into Banerjee’s hands for a sharp return chance, the innings was beginning to crumble. But Naranjan Singh applied himself with vigour, striking only three boundaries but running hard and making good use of the crease with deft ramps and scoops, and then Aarav Singh started swinging hard, cudgeling 23 off 12. But there was too much left to do in the back end of the innings and Aryavarna fell agonisingly short.

Aryavarna’s next game is against another experienced international side, The Kytler Peninsulae, on the notoriously flat Orean surface, which saw both chasing teams wins in the first round of matches. It is expected that Ansari will be brought into the side, either in place of the disappointing Prabhu Bhat, who failed to find much swing in his opening spell from the Grandstand End and lacks the pace to be effective in its absence, or as an additional bowling option. With Aarav Singh looking a little wasted down at 6 there is room to shorten the batting lineup. Despite an ineffective showing Malhotra will certainly be retained as the frontline spinner. Shivam Rathi, a surprise omission from the opening game, will probably replace Yashveer Pandey in the batting lineup. Khris Parekh, whose medium pace bowling went unused and who managed just 6 runs, failed as an impact allrounder and is another possible omission.

I have reused the South Newlandia player names from their roster at the last World Cup. In the event they post a different roster I will edit this report to fit.
Edit: which I have now done as best as I can, any lingering mistakes can be explained as scorer errors
