[DESCRIPTION] As the last election comes to a close with you barely scathing by with a 52% majority, you begin to wonder what you should do to remain not only @@NAME’S@@ leader, but also how to remain @@NAME’S@@ God. You have scheduled a meeting with your cabinet to discuss the matter.
[VALIDITY] picked 243.5 or 363.1, democratic elections, low patriotism, low political apathy

[OPTION 1] “Why, it’s quite simple. All You have to do is force the people to vote for You.” your Secretary of State says, delighted to be near the great and venerable @@LEADER@@ once again. “I mean, for @@LEADER’S@@ sake, You’re @@LEADER@@! You don’t need to partake in silly elections.”
[EFFECT] God no longer needs to win an election to remain God

[OPTION 2] “Sorry to interrupt you brother, but that’s going way too far.” says the Minister of Education, “We don’t need to get rid of our democracy for You to remain leader; we just need to get rid of secularism. Your Great Divineness could simply start some missionary work in secular areas to convince the people.”
[EFFECT] touring @@DEMONYM@@ are flummoxed when they enter other countries and are told that missionaries aren’t normally used to generate political propaganda

[OPTION 3] “Who cares if you win the election or not? You can just have whoever does win act as a figurehead while You pull the strings from behind the scenes.” says one of your top advisors. “It’s quite simple, actually.”
[EFFECT] @@LEADER@@ is the leader of the leader

Okay, yes, now that I think about it, this is indeed something that NationStates lets you do. #243 5 does seem to often (but not always?) make you an Autocracy, but #363 1/3/5 don't.

I have no idea what this means. Is it just you, or does anyone who wins an election automatically get deified? Can you remain a god-emeritus after leaving office?

it’s just @@LEADER@@ who has been deified but they are losing favor and need to figure out what to do

one of the options argues the fact that @@LEADER@@ will still remain God even if they aren’t officially leader anymore

all issues will still be be brought to @@LEADER@@ tho bc they’re literally worshipped as God

- “Leader worshipped as a god” isn’t a policy flag we have. Is there some circumstance or defined set of policies or stats you have in mind?

- Be careful of player autonomy issues. We can’t tell players what they’re thinking, and have to be careful how we phrase descriptions of what they’ve done. Check out the Player Autonomy spoiler in the Description section of our “How to Write an Issue” thread.

- There currently seem to be two different topics at play – one is Leader being worshipped (or not) by the people, and one is Leader being elected (or not) by the voters. Pick one and focus on it.

- Leader always remains Leader – there is no system to have the player not rule @@NAME@@, not have power, or for there not to be a state. Those options are not feasible to include.

- The player can never be voted out of office, so fear of that doesn’t work well as a motivator in issues. It’s a topic we can dance around (for example, issue 862 is about forming a coalition government), but there isn’t really a threat, and the topic generally works best when presented as a matter of convenience rather than necessity.

What you can do is chain this issue onto those others. So if someone chooses option X of issue #XXXX, they can then get this issue as a follow-up. If you can find said options from said issues, you can specify them in the issue validity here--at least, that's my understanding!

you have a cult of personality that believes you to be divine yet you have decided to not end the nation's democracy
in this issue you can decide to either end democracy or give your divineness to the next person who is in office creating a sort of divine democracy opposed to a divine mandate or convince the people to follow your religion more so that the elections won't really matter because everyone will be following you anyway and always vote for you or ect, ect.
