Please keep all off-topic chatter to a minimum, however, as our main focus is RP in this and the adjacent subforums.

If you do have questions, it might help greatly to review our New RolePlayer Orientation Thread in the II forum. It's more tailored to II, but in the absence of an equivalent thread for this subforum, it will do. It does have good information in it still.

NOTE: II, GE&T, and F&NI RPing questions only, please. NSSports and Gameplay-based RPing questions are not within the purview of this thread, as they have generally distinct communities with their own cultures and approaches to roleplay. They also have their own systems to help orient and welcome newcomers.

Strictly speaking, any NS nation-based RP can be done here. Originally, the distinction between here and International Incidents is that this forum is more focused on domestic affairs. This distinction has largely been done away with as players tend to gravitate toward using one forum or the other. This board generally has more closed or semi-RP RP - or at least, fewer opportunities for open RP - and so can be a lot harder to break into for new players than International Incidents. Both boards do have their own subcultures, though, and you can freely move back and forth between the two.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. During sign-up you do have a little survey to fill out for determine the type of nation you have and its base stats, so do you mean that? Anything from that can be changed through answering Issues, and some of the custom fields (currency, motto) can always be changed in your nation's settings. Not really an RP question, though.

If I want to "reset" the history and all RP actions of my nation, could I do it freely or would moderation get involved in this?

Roleplay on the forums and gameplay (answering issues, etc.) are completely separate. So, if you wish to reset your nation roleplay-wise, you wouldn't need to do anything other than tell the people you are roleplaying with of the changes. If you are referring to the stats you receive from answering issues, then you would need to create a new nation, or just continue answering issues until you have the new stats you want. Hope this helps!

My region is considering starting a News Thread. Hitherto, we have been an exclusively RMB and Discord based community. Do you guys have any advice for (relative) beginners in this genre?

News threads an be a ton of fun to read through an participate in! Some beginning helpful tips are:

1. Make sure to designate it as your region only, or invite only. You would not know the number of news threads which players had wanted to be private, but forgot to include some sort of note saying as much.
2. Including an image or newspaper name at the top of each post often helps the posts to look more 'legit' and nicer. A caveat to this is to keep the image and/or title small enough so that the posts don't start looking like a picture thread.
3. News threads can be done in multiple ways. Just like real news, they can include local, national and international news. IN a roleplay sense, this can result in personalized worldbuilding snippets (often local), worldbuilding or roleplay regarding the running of your nation (often national), or roleplay with other nations regarding issues between each other and/or nations working together (often international). Of course, each local, national, and international news can do everything from worldbuilding to roleplaying, but this is just what I tend to see as most common.
4. Make sure to talk with each other! Every news thread is different, just like each roleplay. See what you all would like to do in your news threads. Will it be purely for discussing international incidences? Will it be a purely worldbuilding thread? Will it be a discussion thread for you to discuss your citizens' thoughts on other roleplays? All of the above? Something else? Make sure everyone knows what the news thread is for.
5. Have fun! Like any roleplay, you get out of it what you put in, and if you and everyone else is enjoying it, there will be more posts and more fun stuff going on.

As a Tl:dr; news threads are a type of roleplay thread that can be used in infinite ways with infinite possibilities. Just like there seems to be a near infinite numbers of newspapers and news stations, all with their own unique ways of expressing the news. Good luck and hopefully some of this helps.

It would feature more hands-on interactions than those seen in F&NI election threads, and it seems like it wouldn't be diplomatically-oriented enough for II.

If the focus is on the foreign interference, a lot of governments (via their intelligence agencies) get involved and at the very least, there would be a contest of subterfuge happening. If that's your intent, that is more on II theme. An NSRP version of the same thing would have more local scope and pertain more to, let's say, an individual foreign operative's everyday life or something.
