If you could live anywhere, where would you live?

Postby Turenia » Sat Apr 13, 2024 3:16 am

I live somewhere in Western Europe. I won't go into exactly where, but I'm sure you could work it out. I just view it as a punishment, quite honestly. I hate living here. Summer doesn't really get real hot, winter never really gets real cold and we hardly get snow. The roads are tiny, the houses are tiny (unless you have a lot of money), the cars largely consist of silver hatchbacks or silver crossover-types, people are miserable and it can all be summed up with the word "dreary". I can't wait to leave, and I hopefully will be, in the next few years.

My ideal location would be the United States. Specifically, somewhere in Northern or Central Florida, like Jacksonville or Orlando. I had a friend emigrate to Orlando recently, and everything looks amazing. In an ideal world, I'd have a house in the suburbs with a decently-sized driveway (I don't even have one where I live now), a modest front yard and a decently-sized backyard. That's all I'd need, and I wouldn't want anything else. That is my goal in life, and I've promised myself that I will achieve it.

As for why I like it; I just believe that everything is better. It's sunny and warm for most of the year (snowy winters are cool, but I don't need them), the roads are huge, the cars are cool (seeing Police driving around in Chargers and kids younger than me driving Mustangs never gets old), the trucks (18-wheeler types) are cool and unlike anything we see in Europe. The supermarkets are huge and have everything. People are always so friendly and happy to see you - the first time I visited, i was pumping gas at a gas station, and some dude just pulled up next to me and started talking about my rental car to me. The neighborhoods look nice and homely, even the places that my American friends consider "run down".

Where would you guys go if you could?

This is a question I’ve thought about quite a lot. While I’ve considered such places as France/Belgiums and the Pacific Morthwest of the US/Canada (which is still my second or maybe third choice), currently, I’ve for some reason decided that Russia’s far eastern coast, specifically somewhere around Vladivostok, would be my choice for now. It seems like a beautiful, but not overwhelmingly so, place, and I’d really like to learn more about and immerse myself in Russian culture. It just seems like a really interesting place overall. A another top, maybe second choice would be Tasmania or somewhere in eastern Victoria-or even northern NSW. Maybe even where I am now. All of Australia’s east coast is beautiful, but Tasmania seems especially so because of its rainforest. And I think it might have a close-knit community, because it’s so small compared to the other Australian states. Yet there wouldn’t be any cultural adjustment, like learning a new language, I’d have to do.

Then there’s also Tully…(I love the rain)

Somewhere I can be comfortable living in, a place where I can even afford a house, if anything, for free, as long as it has all of the essentials, I could work on the decorations myself. That is, if that place ever exists. (ADD: Climate where I am experienced with and the peacefulness of the area/not going to be destroyed by a global war)

That's a diverse set of choices right there.

I picked West Europe. Me, personally, I live in Singapore but when I do occasionally go out of the country, I always, most of the time go to West Europe. To me, there is such a stunning landscape to explore, as an English speaker, I usually go to London, United Kingdom to learn more about the interesting history of the UK. There is just so much story in between the lines of when humans first explored Europe to the Present Day, with more things and hopefully good events that will help West Europe to a better and brighter future!

And that, my friends, is why I chose West Europe.

I've lived my whole life in the UK and can't really imagine myself living anywhere else, except maybe Canada, New Zealand, or Australia?

If I knew Japanese, I'd love to live somewhere in Hokkaido.

Otherwise, I think I'd be content in Canada or southern Alaska.

I live in the US, and where i would live if i could live anywhere, for the weather, would be Alaska (Kentucky has hot and humid summers), and for just living there, i would say maybe France, there is plenty of stuff to see over there.

I would say somewhere in the Southwestern U.S. or maybe along the East Coast, generally somewhere close to a university. Because lately, I've been thinking that living in a quaint part of the U.S. is what I want to do sometime in the foreseeable future. (That is if I can go to college and hell, even move into the good ol' US of A in the decade of our lord, the 2020s.)

Wales, no question. Beautiful landscape, a few major cities I can go into when I need to, a climate I agree with, and rolling hills where I don't need to see a single fucking soul for weeks on end. Heaven on Earth.

As a proud Canadian citizen, I'd head off to a nice little area just outside of a major city, in an area with gorgeous forest and mountain scenery with a beautiful lake.. a perfect place to call home.

If I couldn't move to America, Canada would be the next place down on the list, followed by Australia (Adelaide or Sydney, to be specific).
