1055 HOURS, SATURDAY 30TH MARCH, 2024 | PORTO DO CABO, KHOIKHOIA
Sitting at his desk was Prime Minister of Khoikhoia, Rudolf Bradley. He had only been in office since January, and was now already being bothered by the Central Intelligence Control (CIC), the nation's intelligence agency, about something of apparent "high importance". Bradley had paid it little attention, as a nation's leader it was to be expected that the intelligence agencies would contact him and overstate current investigations. That was until the CIC's actual chief, not the poster boy they claimed led it, but the actual man pulling the strings, known only to Bradley and the government as "Agent Cobras" had been sent to see him.
Cobras was a man who stroked fear into the hearts of the bravest, especially a scrawny, non-military man such as Bradley. He was named so, Bradley speculated, because of the large tattoo of a snake on his shaved head. More specifically the frightening black mamba, one of the deadliest snakes on the planet, and thankfully not found in Khoikhoia, only elsewhere on the African continent. He wore dark sunglasses, so dark his eyes were impossible to see, which could well have some other purpose. Cobras listened to his installed earpiece and spoke into his microphone at all times, even when talking to others.
Bradley knew Cobras from a brief encounter shortly after his inauguration, as protocol dictated. But he was unprepared for his appearance in his office around two weeks ago - Cobras's location is something that cannot be disclosed to anyone. He had come into Bradley's office after knocking three times, not waiting for a response, greeting the Prime Minister, and then handing him the documents. They were titled "Operation F".
Operation F
Bradley was intrigued, but it was also his job to read through the documents. Cobras, with little time, instructed him to read them, informing him a CIC agent would later come to discuss its contents with him, and then hastily departed. Bradley had been horrified as he read through the findings. His life was in danger, back then in another role, as well as those of countless others. Not only that, but the very democracy of Khoikhoia was at stake too. When he later conversed with the CIC agent sent, both clearly knew what had to be done.
Now, back in the present, his reminiscing over, Bradley thought of the sheer mass of what he was about to do, what he had to do. There were big names involved, so naturally the operation would unfold gradually, to assure everyone of their safety and the government's unawareness. One year, he thought, one year had the CIC been investigating this, linking people to people in this massive plot. And now, as the Prime Minister, Bradley was tasked with delivering the people the news, the grave news, that their nation had been attacked from within - how he did not know. And he had to do it on Holy Friday too!
STATEMENT FROM THE PRIME MINISTER OF KHOIKHOIA - 1100, 30/03/2024
"Dear fellow citizens and residents of Khoikhoia alike, I bring you a message of grave importance from the government and intelligence agencies of Khoikhoia.
"We have substantiated intelligence gathered to suggest our nation has been under attack from outside forces, intending to overthrow our government and rule of law based on our three founding principles - Liberty, Equality, and Union. This was not the work of governments, but rather by entities of other states collaborating with organisations in our country. For security reasons, I am not allowed to disclose many details at this current moment.
"At this moment, I urge calm from all. Our nation is no longer under threat, and swift action will be taken against the conspirators.
"This was no blunder on the part of our intelligence agencies, who have been investigating the cooperation, and preparing themselves and the military for any attack on the Khoikhois Republic. Our republic will not tolerate this, and we, the government, military, and national intelligence, will begin to execute the physical actions of the investigation. This has been codenamed "Operation F" for reasons that may later become apparent.
"Thank you."
With the press now aware, it was a matter of time before this became national news.
The plot unfolds...
BREAKING!: Foreign foes plotted to overthrow government but nation safe, states Prime Minister
The Prime Minister
Written by Bob Couro, active correspondent, Cabo
PORTO DO CABO, SAT 30 MAR, | Today, at 11:00, the government announced in a very unexpected statement from the Prime Minister, Rudolf Bradley, that "substantiated intelligence" pointed to a cooperation of undisclosed foreign entities with Khoikhois ones in a plot to overthrow the Khoikhois government. For reasons relating to national security, few details were divulged to the public. Furthermore, the statement claims this follows an investigation, and that its "physical actions" will be carried out now.
Assuring the nation is under no threat at his point, the short statement comes on behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic, Rudolf Bradley. Calling this a matter of "grave importance", it states that the nation has been "under attack", an attack which sought to "overthrow the government and rule of law based on the three founding principles", but that this comes from the collaboration of foreign entities and not "the work" of foreign governments. The statement also reveals that Khoikhoia's intelligence agencies have been investigating this already, which they have codenamed "Operation F". The statement concludes that this attack is not tolerable, and vows to begin the "swift" "physical actions" of the investigation.
Very few details were disclosed in the short statement, which to many comes out of the blue. Nevertheless, it is reasonable to expect that Khoikhoia's intelligence agencies, likely including the Central Intelligence Control (CIC) at home, military, and government are aware of more details than have been shared with the public, and that swift action will likely be taken soon, as it is usual to make a quick reaction to any such event in Khoikhoia. Khoikhoia has no major enemies, and it is unlikely a mainstream group was the foreign collaborator. Rather, terrorist or extremist groups are likely to have worked with like-minded individuals in Khoikhoia.
However, nothing like this has ever happened in the nation's history. Khoikhois democracy and rule of law have been assured throughout our nation's history, only subverted during the Soares premiership from 1973 to 1991. A conspiracy to kill the government is treason under Khoikhois law and the laws of most other nations, and would be met in Khoikhoia with the execution by firing squad (the national method) of all citizens implicated. Cooperation with other governments to track the "foreign entities" involved is probable, especially with allies such as Botswana and Brazil.
The nation appears united behind the government in such times. President of the Republic, Cristoph Martins, has exercised his role as a uniting, ceremonial force to urge unity, calm, and trust via a statement on Y (formerly Cancaner). He also stated these actions "cannot be underestimated". Further details are expected from the government, as many are anxious, despite the Prime Minister stating there is no threat any longer, and the President's words. This may have disturbed the Saturday of many, but with Holy Friday gone, and Easter Sunday in the future when this might not be as much of a pressing worry, this largely will not impact the average Khoikhois's life for now.
