Who is "actually" the worst President of the US ever

It's election season and we are seeing both parties comically claim that their candidate was the "worst President in US history".

A quite ridiculous claim when compared to say, Andrew Johnson who practically ruined the post war reconstructions (thank Goodness for Grant) or Franklin Pierce who signed the Kansas Nebraska act. Or heck if we want to talk about 20th century presidents a lot of people's logic seems to be "Oh yea the President is responsible for the bad things that happen in their term". So, what about Herbert Hoover? (Not that I agree with this reasoning).

Who in your opinion is "actually" the worst US president ever? Because I have a hard time believing it is DJT or JB.

Buchanan is the worst president, he did nothing regarding the South, let them secede and bring that issue up to one of the best presidents we had, Abraham Lincoln.

I second the ones already mentioned, though an honorable mention would be Herbert Hoover.

When looking at presidents I look at them in 2 aspects.

1. How they actually preformed as a president

2. How they were as an actual person


LBJ for example, was a good president performance wise, but as a person he was an asshole and kinda pervy



Worst President Performance wise I would say James Buchanan by a long shot

Worst president as a person I would say either Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, or Woodrow Wilson


On the other hand the best president performance wise I would say be FDR or Teddy Rosevelt

Best president as a person would definitely be Jimmy Carter

I extremely dislike Woodrow Wilson, the Klan sympathizer, Andrew Jackson, the man who sent Cherokee on a death march that I could say was comparable to the Nazi death marches, and so on.

Hoover has some more respect because he was alright before he was president and if the circumstances were different, things may have been better.

Other commonly chosen ones like Jackson and Wilson have complicated legacies and were generally bad people but that's different from their presidency and where it should be ranked, Woodrow Wilson as an example genuinely did a lot of good things internationally despite being a turboracist.
