In light of Moderation's decision, over Gensec's objection, to remove Wallenburg, we currently have 5 members. As Moderation requires us to appoint and maintain 6 members, we are opening this thread for nominations to fill Wallenburg's seat. We will certainly miss his legal and argumentative skills, which are rivalled by few in the General Assembly.

It would be helpful if those nominated could publicly accept or decline their nomination in this thread. It is encouraged for nominators to explain why they have nominated a particular person or persons.

In the absence of any statement of the reasoning as to why he was dismissed, and I am utterly unaware of what changed since August 2022 when he was appointed and moderator vetted at that time, I fail to see why it's inappropriate for him to continue in the role.

As GenSec have noted, Wallenburg was stood down from the team this week following a decision by the Moderator, Administrator and Director team. While Wallenburg has been an effective member of the GenSec team, his conduct has failed to meet the standards we expect from staff, and our efforts to resolve this with him were not met with the assurances we need that he understood that he had erred and would make a good faith effort to comply with the required conduct standards going forwards. This made his position on the site staff untenable, and left us with no option but to remove him.

Out of curiosity, is this the full extent of the information we are going to receive on this situation? Or are more details forthcoming?

Putting aside my personal differences with Wallenburg, I can easily acknowledge their dedication and significant contributions to the WA for as long as I can remember. To have such a player be removed from their staff role over vague items such as 'conduct' and 'unmet assurances' makes it seem as if there is a significant amount of context being left out here.

Any additional information would be appreciated.

Obviously I am no longer privy to any behind the scenes discussions but literally everyone knew when Wally was appointed to GenSec that he has rather robust debating style. On the public side we can all see that he has led the GA community's less than enthusiastic response to the idea of having it subject to the Sec Gen position. One would hope that his criticism of the idea, and his specific direct criticism of your own broken promise in regards to the idea, are not the root cause of his dismissal. Anything he said in that thread was what we were all thinking.

Just to be clear I nominate all three of these fine gentlemen, all of whom have dedicated decades of their lives to making NationStates a safe and enjoyable place for children and small animals. I am certain that the addition of any one of them will cause God's favor to shine down upon this institution and ensure its continued success for years to come.

Terribly sorry that my efforts to make that blindingly obvious to you still weren't clear enough. Since you feel the need to drag this drama into the nominations thread, however, I'd like to know: was the whole process involved in threatening me just window dressing on a predetermined decision to eject no matter what I did or said? Or did you only just now decide you didn't care that I agreed to comply with your onerous standards in the future?

I think the public M/A conduct in the Sec-Gen Technical thread shows such hope is quite the reach.

Yes, previous nominations will be considered.

Personally, I think it would be best for discourse regarding Wallenburg's removal to take place in a separate thread, rather than being shoehorned into an only tangentially related thread. I agree that the removal was frivolous at best, but this thread is for nominations. (This request was also made by D&B on Discord.)

I nominate Sanctaria. They may not be the most active here anymore, but I think GenSec just needs someone with a thorough knowledge of the rules (the mentorship mantle being largely taken up by Kenmoria and Ice, to their credits). Sanct fits that bill and then some.
