Schedule

Daily cutoff will be at 1800 UTC.

MD1: 3 Mar
MD2: 5 Mar
MD3: 7 Mar
MD4: 9 Mar
MD5: 11 Mar

Ro12: 13 Mar
QF: 15 Mar
SF: 17 Mar
Final: 19 Mar

Rosters

Please consider posting a roster (even if you don't plan on RPing!). It will help your opponents. It does not need to be complex. For a tournament like this, you would typically choose about 23-26 players (including 3 goalkeepers), though OOCly you can bring as many (or few) players as you like. Please consider some basic RP permissions along these lines:
Code: Select all
If my opponent RPs first they may...
Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Give out yellow cards to my players Y/N
Give out red cards to my players Y/N
Injure my players Y/N
Godmode scoring events Y/N
Godmode other events Y/N

Godmoding refers to wacky or unusual incidents outside the realm of normal football. An own goal is probably not a godmode. An own goal that bounces off a passing goose into the net is probably a godmode. If in doubt, message your opponent and ask. Final decision rests with the host.

Roleplaying

You may begin roleplaying. Roleplaying will give your team more points and (theoretically) more chance of winning, though the random number generator basis of the scorinator means there's no guarantee! There will be optional RP prompts posted with each cutoff; you do not have to respond to them and can earn full RP bonus without doing so, but they're there for inspiration in case you want them. Please do not use AI text generators.

Eligibility

In IC terms, this competition is open to any player below the age of 18 or below at the end of the calendar year in which it is being held. Given the fluidity of NS time and different ageing rates across competitions (not to mention species) there is no OOC enforcement here, but if your roster contains players marked over the age of 18 then unless some clever IC explanation is offered it will be assumed to be a lazy copy and paste and earn a poor bonus!

Tactical Set-Up

The young Starsian side is a very skilled team with a very high team chemistry and morale combining it with their quick paced game they are an opponent for all teams to watch out for.
They play in a 4-3-3 which through the match can be changed to various other formations suiting the game that they play however they are an offensive team loving to have possesion of the ball.
This Starsian side is known to play great but very fair soccer respecting every opponent and with their disciplined training they are most likely to make the game rather then reacting to their opponents.

Left Corner Taker: Rubin Caesar
Right Corner Taker: Rubin Caesar
Penalties: Geoffrey Richter
Direct FK Taker: Geoffrey Richter
Indirect FK Taker: Geoffrey Richter
Most likely to foul/be booked: Robert Wallace
Most likely to shoot: Lukas Lauritzen
Most likely to score from close-range: Lukas Lauritzen
Most likely to score from long-range: Lukas Lauritzen
Most likely to be fouled: Kaylee Maywell
Most likely to attempt the spectacular: Kaylee Maywell

Star players

Kieran Elliott
Kieran is the tall big goalkeeper that intimidates you alot, he is fearsome and catches everything coming his way despite his young age and many pro teams want to sign him.
He was trained by Keenan Fortuna a once similarly legendary goalkeeper who trained all great goalkeepers after him such as Dave Carlsson, Calvin Princeton and Tom Feeney.
Kieran is his newest project and also most likely his last as he gets older and Kieran is determined to achieve the same heights as his mentor and already is a loyal pillar of support for his team and the defense.

Jason Moon
He is the son of former NT player Nicolay Moon and also a defender just like his father, many people expect great progress and it is certain that Jason has the speed and accuracy of his dad.
He does not miss opportunities and has a good sense of game aswell as an ability to view the offensive patterns of his opponents to immediately shut down their attacks.
Jason hopes to become a NT player and a strong defender that his team can rely on and he is well on his way to achieve this with already potential to debut in the first team not too far away from now.

Geoffrey Richter
Geoffrey is ur typical CM strategic, a game maker and also someone who really can command the players around him and its usually Geoffrey who calls the shots in the midfield.
He is strong but also a clean player, he rarely makes a foul and has a sense of honor making him a fan favourite and one of the leading players of this team that now goes for the U18 world cup.
He will make his debut on the highest level soon most likely, however when is not exactly sure.

Lukas Lauritzen
Blizzard had a history of good strikers, with Holly Moonlight and Astrid Lindgren but after those two it seemed there was no new light on the horizon until Lukas Lauritzen transferred to Blizzard.
He originally played for their rivals the Storm Wolves but he was not as appreciated there having little chance to break into the main team anytime soon which is why he went to Blizzard.
They accepted him with open arms and now hes a soon to be starter and U18 NT main striker waiting for his international debut like many more of these players.

Commonwealth of Baker Park Under 18 National Team

5th & 9th Under-18 World Champions

Image

Baker Park's Modern Era in soccer can be definitively said to have began not in Valanora at the 42nd DiBradini Cup, nor at the 67th Baptism of Fire in Banija & Qasden, but in Abanhfleft at the 5th Under-18 World Championships.

It was at that tournament that the FAC sent its representative squad that included for the first time both young men and women, playing next to one another in the same starting XI, training side by side daily, competing against the best youth teams in the multiverse together.

Winning that tournament was an added bonus to what was a bold experiment for the governing body, as nothing like it had been tested outside of the composition of local recreational leagues for 5-8 year-olds where, especially at the youngest age level, co-ed teams were the norm. Even before the final whistle sounded in the title match, the experiment had been declared a unquestioned success, and the Commonwealth have never looked back since.

It is considered at the FAC Charter Development Training Complex to be the most important competition behind the World Cup and the AOCAF Cup, evidenced by the trophy case in the lobby where both trophies (SWC 5 & 9) are the centerpiece of the display that features both of its AOCAF Cups and the DiBradini 53 Cup as well as the Cup of Champions from Eagles Cup 13. For the 16th edition in Graintfjall the team for the first time wore proof of that importance on their shirts, as two stars now are placed above the crest for this tournament only (without the two stars that signify the senior team regional titles).

All-time record: 59 wins, 20 defeats, 13 draws (2 Championships, 1 Runner-up, 1 Third Place, 5 Quarterfinal & 6 Round of 16 appearances)

Formation: 3-4-1-2
Style: +2.2

THE TUMBRAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM (U18 side)
The Black Egrets

Image

IMPORTANT OOC NOTE: For all intents and purposes, this Tumbra that began contesting in WCQ87 is an entirely new nation. They have no recollection of their earlier exploits from WC70-80, because that simply didn't exist for this Tumbra. Any and all similarities to the nation of the similar name can and should be construed as glitches in the Multiverse. You may, however, make muted references to "having done this before" or something. For a detailed explanation of how this came to be, read these RPs.

The Tumbran National Football Team is Tumbra's main representative in all association football competitions for national associations. Making its debut at the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, the team currently ranks 5th in the world. The team is controlled by the Tumbran Football Federation, which is also the governing body of football in Tumbra. Also known as the Black Eagles, or affectionately the Eagles, the team competes in the World Cup and its related competitions. The team also participates in the Campionato Esportiva, also sends teams to the Di Bradini Cup for Under-21s, and the Under-18 World Cup. The team have won the 51st edition of the former tournament and the 13th edition of the latter tournament; which has led to a keen emphasis on bleeding youth into the national team set-up early. The senior national team's best performance, meanwhile, has been with a Final appearance at the 95th edition of the World Cup, but the finer details of that match will not be dwelt overly long on. With a loyal travelling contingent of supporters known as the Black Army, the Tumbran national team's support will be on display throughout this tournament, with lots of tifos and loud cheers expected throughout matches.

Players from 1-11 can safely be assumed to be starters, but pre-match XIs will be posted before every cutoff. Please check my RPs for pre-match lineups. If none are posted, feel free to pick and choose from this side.

Tumbra will name eleven starters and fifteen names on the bench, with up to five substitutes taken in three events not including half or full time. In the unlikely event that they make it to extra time, a sixth substitute will be taken. Tumbra will not play for penalties and will try as often as possible to finish a match in ninety or a hundred and twenty minutes.

Tactical Set-Up
Tumbra will usually set up in a 4-3-3 formation. The alternate formation is a 4-2-3-1. The team's general strategy is to sit back, soak up attacks, then break on the counter. Four-defender formations are seen as the gospel and orthodoxy in Tumbra; three or five-defender formations haven't really picked up steam in the country, only being resorted to in the midst of play.

In defence, Tumbran orthodoxy is to have a four-player defence; wingbacks in this system are expected to start attacks after the central defenders dispossess marauding attackers. The ideal Tumbran wingback is fast, able to pass, and float into midfield when out of possession to help regain possession; in practical terms, one wingback stays back while one floats into midfield. The central defenders are usually split into two; clean-shorts and dirty-shorts, with one focusing on distribution and the other on dispossession.

The midfield is the crux of Tumbran footballing philosophy, with the defensive midfielder being the most important position on the team. The midfield traditionally has three roles; destroyer, pacesetter and creator. In any case, the more advanced midfielder typically serves as the creator. On very rare occasions where Tumbra seeks to take control of the game for themselves do they play with an outright attacking midfielder; this shift away from the 4-2-3-1 has been the major innovation of the Michael Campbell era so far, and signals a declining reliance on the status of the purely attacking midfielder.

In attack, creative freedom is granted; though history has usually shined its brightest lights on goalscoring wingers. This usually privileges players who cut in on the wing to overload the box, with crosses a secondary option. Crosses may be delivered by either the wingback or the winger; the wingback is preferred. The ideal Tumbran forward is lithe and agile regardless of which side they play on; finishing ability is respected far more than individual flashes of brilliance, though unsurprisingly players with flair are remembered far better than those who aren't.

On a sliding scale between workhorses and technical finesse, Tumbrans as a whole lean towards the former, though obviously with exceptions. Gamesmanship, time-wasting and riling up the opposition are par for the course; but Tumbrans will never directly break any rules. Tumbrans are pretty naff at set-pieces; they prefer scoring from open play.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jack Hammilton -NK ČELIK RADUČ - 17 year old prodigy playing in football club Čelik Raduč. Fantastic young player with amazing football skills. Very fast player with amazing understeanding of football game! He is way up better then rest of the team. Jack is student of middle scool . He studdy at " Techinc & Technology Middle Scool " in Raduč. Also the youngster is great in painting.

Nataša Poznanović - ŽNK Mladost Melarit- 17 year old playing for women's football club Mladost Melarit ( ženski nogometni klub Mladost Melarit) . She is born in city Plava Laguna, near to Melarit. Hers first football steps she made in ŽNK Plava Laguna but her father move with familly to Melarit. So Nataša changed a club. Nataša was the best scorer in national junior football league . She is the best striking player in our team and one of the best all time ! She is 180 cm tall but her agility and feel for the goal are incredible.

Valeriy Rozhakov - NK ČELIK RADUČ - with only 16 years on hiis back, Valeriy showing outstanding goal keeping skills! Together with Jack Hamilton, he is most deserving of the fact that NK Čelik Raduč played in the final of the junior play off in boys competition. Valeriy is incredibly agile and that is why he is called "the panther". Also he is 187 cm tall, weighs barely 70 kg, but that's why he is incredibly agile and has great reflexes
.

Nina Kutleša - ŽNK MLADOST MELARIT - Nina is our pillar of defense. Great in duels, a very intelligent girl who has an amazing view of the game. This is why she is very successful in play at defence lines. She led her club ŽNK Mladost Melarit to national champion in the junior girls' competition. Nina was also the team captain. However, during the preparations for this competition, Nina injured her right thigh muscle. Because of this, she will be on the bench and will be replaced by Ozren Jurković from Dinamo Katanija.

Lisander Under-18 National Team
The Future Eleven
Style Modifier: +4

With the reestablishment of the Premiership U18, now with sixteen teams, Future Eleven is once again participating in international competitions. The team is made up entirely of players who competed in the competition, following criteria established by coach Cassio Mendl, approved by the FLF. In the call-up, Mendl lamented the lack of more support and cited having great underutilized potential in non-league High Schools and academies: "As much as I know about the potential of non-League High Schools and Academies, as much as I'm leaving some really talented boys from outside, I need to filter a number of players. Football is about talent, and the boys in school football does not fall below the Academy boys in talent. It's dedication, and for a kid that loves football seriously, no matter if it's playing School League or Premiership. But it's also results, and with the Premiership U18 boys, I have all of that with a great structure to boot. School championships don't always have the same technical level. Our educational system is developed to train doctors, teachers, engineers, librarians, lawyers, not necessarily football players. My suggestion to the entities that would like to have young players reaching the Future Eleven is that they form partnerships with teams, or apply to join the Premiership if possible. It is a good thing that you will do to your kids, put them in the spotlight, help them build a career if that's their dream."

Of the 23 selected, 14 come from three teams: AFC Rovers, the U18 Premiership champions; Union Castell, who showed extraordinary chemistry, clinching the "regular season" with a bang, with five wins in seven games; and Club Sparta, the biggest club and biggest academy in the country, with an enviable structure, and which scouts young players from all parts of Lisander and neighboring nations. Standout names include Thomas Navarro, a very strong defender, chosen to be captain for his leadership on the field at AFC Rovers, and the right-handed attacking duo formed by Lucas Amandier and Marian Alfort, responsible for 13 of the 18 goals of Union Castell (at that time, Highcastle United) in the recently concluded U18 Premiership season.

Uniforms
Image

Lisander National Teams retains its contract with a famous feline sports apparel manufacturer. For the second year of the current cycle, a "fluo update" in the uniforms reaches the National Elevens. With a new white jersey being released, with a striking fluo-green sash, the second uniform changes from White/Green/White to All White, while the primary uniform replaces its white shorts for green ones, playing entirely in the main national colour as the first option. The first jersey, in two shades of green, was only slightly updated from the look used since World Cup 93, with new fluo green applications in the sleeve cuffs and in the collar.

Youth national teams present a slightly altered jersey, with the words "CHALLENGE" of "FUTURE" printed below the FLF crest.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: Yes, but if possible, spare my defenders from being ridiculed or looking completely useless.
RP injuries to my players: Yes, TG or DM me just in case.
Godmod injuries to my players: No.
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes, TG or DM me just in case
Godmod other events: As long as it doesn't disrupt the tournament, yes.

Other than that, go wild.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL UNDER-18 ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MEN'S

There are only two outcomes in a football tournament: win or lose. And only one of those outcomes is acceptable to the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft, but the team has been doing a lot more of the unacceptable outcome for literally anyone's liking. Also, somehow, despite the debacle in the 20th Under-18 World Cup, Akhmet Ustinov managed to keep his job as manager of the Fleftic under-18 team, but it's clear that this is his last chance.

U18's arrive in Rushmore ahead of tourney opener
by Travis Mosely
The Post Soccer Correspondent

Háttmark, Graintfjall—The flight carrying the Commonwealth of Baker Park Under-18 National Team touched down at the airport here in the White Winter Queendom--which will host the RTC Under-18 World Cup for the second time in six years--having transported a squad of 16, 17 and 18 year olds along with their adult overseers and the coaching and training staff that bring a confidence to this tournament that perhaps no other nation can approach ahead of the opening kickoff.

Only Abanhfleft have appeared in the U18WC more times than Baker Park (they are the only nation to have entered all 21 editions) and this current crop of teenaged soccer talent have the experience of consecutive semi-final berths--a Third Place and Runner-Up finish for the nine members of the present 18 year old cohort--that they would like to make into a clean sweep as their legacy, with the added motivation of earning a third star above the Old English 'C' on the shirts they wear.

The squad will spend three days here training at the club facilities of Gunzlach, where senior BPNT boss Will Barnard made his name prior to succeeding Jen Prescott; the club extended the invitation as a personal favor to their former manager to provide a stopgap for the youth side before they move on to their tournament training base.

Matt Villareal takes on the leadership as manager and brings 10 first timers to Rushmore for the tenth edition of tournament held under the FAC's organizational control; one returning player will also have extra motivation due to the selection of Graintfjall as host.
Maria Lanórsdóttir came into the squad as a 16 year old in the last competition in Tumbra following the Graintfjall born defender becoming a Baker Park citizen along with her parents and two brothers; she will want to perform at the highest possible level in her native country in front friends and family that she left.

Newcomers to Watch for:
Lindsay Carter—the only new Academy prospect in the squad, the keeper earned her way into consideration with a strong debut performance in the FAC Academy Second Division, keeping seven clean sheets in her 12 starts along with a pair of shutouts in the FAC Academy Cup.
Anna Kitakawa—the first ever player of Japanese descent called into the National Team program, she earned All-Star honors at league (1st Team), County (1st Team) and State (Honorable Mention) levels as a sophomore at left fullback for her two-way performances.
April Stephens—daughter of former star NT defender Terrence Stephens, she brings her dad's technical skill and physical presence combined with pace and creativity to a midfield group that will be the most experienced line in the returning squad.
Ray Lulaka—has the build (6'2”, 205) and the nose for goal (14 in 22 games) that has attracted attention from clubs home and abroad. If he and Bellingham can find chemistry the sky's the limit.

Team Cassadaigua- RTC World Cup 21 (U18)

The Brattleboro division of RTC would like to remind everyone that RTC has established a fine transportation network within the Brattleboro area and any ticket holder from this competition can use their ticket stubs for a 50% off monthly pass voucher until the end of the year. The team will wear an additional RTC- Brattleboro Division patch on their kits.

Coach- Chen Huikang (60)

Chen Huikang began with the national team from Yuezhou in Copa Rushmori 43, and led the team to the title. Next up was RTC 19, two editions ago in this tournament, where the team also went all the way. Then, it was advancing to the finals in the Eagles Cup and a qualification for World Cup 94. Since then, there has been ups and downs, but after a runner up performance in Copa Rushmori 45, Chen seems to be safe for now.

Assistant- Kimberly Carson (49) (Winchester City)

It may not have been easy for CASE to find an assistant to Chen, as some of the top domestic candidates for the position may have felt a little slighted that they did not get the head coaching job. Hannah Shanley, the longtime assistant to Brittany Byers, took her name out of the running right away, saying that she would only want the head job. Also, Jessica Tolson, another top candidate did similar. This leaves Carson, who was successful with the national team for multiple Cups and has since moved on and made Winchester City more of a title threat within the CSL. The defender will focus on that aspect of play to coincide with Chen's attacking mindset. Carson has been the assistant for Chen ever since, and it seems as though as long as one is here, the other will be as well.

Federal election 2037: Parliament dissolved as country gears up for extended eight-week campaign

By Zachary Armstrong
TBC News

STRATON: Tumbra will go to the polls on June 26, a Friday, as outgoing Prime Minister Lawrence Newell today announced the dissolution of Tumbra's 51st House of Representatives. Speaking outside of the official presidential residence, Mr. Newell confirmed the polling date and said in a brief statement, that he hoped the election campaign would be "fair and even-handed," while asking Tumbrans to consider "the strong and stable leadership this government has provided, and will continue to provide with the re-election of a United government, in delivering economic prosperity and opportunities to everyone in Tumbra." Mr. Newell, who has served as Prime Minister since 2035 after an internal party-room vote in which he ousted former Prime Minister Stephen Williams, will not be serving as Prime Minister after the election even if the United Party wins the vote on June 26th; in a tightly-contested vote in May, party members chose former Georgia premier, one-time presidential candidate, and the former head of the Federalist Party Max Young to be the first official leader of the unified right-wing United Party.

The timing of the election, while expected, still took some political analysts by surprise. The announcement comes just two weeks after the United Party leadership election, amd an election was not due until September. Assoc. Professor Prakash K. Jeyaretnam says that the possible early election call was to "give the United Party time to capitalise on the bounce in the polls presented by its new leader," as well as to give Young, a relative novice in federal politics, "enough time to get his name out there and properly get himself considered as the man able to succeed Lawrence Newell as Prime Minister." A long campaign, however, might lead to voter fatigue, and gives politicians "more chances to commit unforced mistakes which may or may not swing the vote in one or the other party's direction," says Professor Jeyaretnam. The longest Tumbran election campaign since the war-afflicted election of 1864, which utilised the maximum 120-day campaign period specified in the Constitution, was in 1996; where an eye-watering seventy-five day campaign saw Labour Prime Minister Edward North win an unexpected overall majority. Most modern election campaigns have been around forty days long; the Constitution specifies a minimum of thirty days between dissolution and voting day.

A brief guide to the election

Tumbrans will go to polls on June 26 to elect six hundred and fifty Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Representatives, the lower house of Tumbra's two-chambered federal Parliament. The House of Representatives is considered the more powerful of the two houses of Parliament, and has several powers that the upper house, the Senate, does not have. The most important of these powers is the ability to draw up the Budget each year. The Prime Minister, Tumbra's head of government and the most powerful politician in Tumbra, also comes from this chamber of Parliament.

Instead of electing the Prime Minister directly, however, 98 million Tumbrans — the highest on record — will elect MPs in individual constituencies delineated by area. Each MP will be representing an average of 150,000 people. Most candidates in this election represent a political party; a single political party requires 326 MPs to form a government. It is widely expected that most of the seats in the election will go either to the incumbent centre-right United Party, which forms the government, or the centre-left Labour Party, which forms the Official Opposition. At the last election, the United Party's primary predecessor, the Liberal Party, won 327 seats, while Labour won 285. Other parties, like the left-wing, environmentalist Alliance, the centrist Moderate Party, and the socialist Social Democratic Party, are also expected to win a substantial number of seats, which might be crucial if neither the United nor Labour parties are able to reach the 'magic number' of 326.

Tumbra elects its Members of Parliament through a voting system called the instant runoff vote (IRV). Instead of choosing one candidate, voters are asked to rank all the candidates from one onwards, with candidates steadily eliminated during vote counting until only two remain. First implemented in 1906, the system remains popular as it ensures that the elected Member of Parliament is at least preferred by over half of those voting. Everyone above the age of 18 is eligible to vote, and voting is compulsory.

Opinion polls are expected to be released throughout the campaign, and are an attempt to measure political sentiment throughout the country. Most political opinion polls which attempt to measure party support can be split into two categories. The first, the primary vote, measures the voters' first preferences, i.e. who a specific voter wants to vote for. The other, the two-party preferred vote, measures the margin of final preferences between the two biggest parties in Tumbra. These preferences from minor parties are often key to the results of any given federal election, as a candidate that may have been trailing after the first round could potentially leapfrog an opponent with preferences. It is important to note, however, that opinion polls don't necessarily translate to the number of seats a party may win — as that depends on the results in all 650 individual races up and down the country.

Speaking an hour after the dissolution of Parliament, at an unofficial campaign launch, Leader of the Opposition Bertram Andrews, 61, welcomed the start of the campaign, saying that Labour were 'well-prepared' for the election campaign and for government. "This election represents an opportunity for the people of Tumbra to deliver their verdict on the path they want our great country to take," he said. "Under the United Party, Tumbra will become more atomised, more individualistic, much less compassionate as people chase their own; a vote for Labour represents care for the common person, the protection of our health system, and support for our community." This election will be the former Deputy Prime Minister's second tilt at leading Labour back to government; identified as being part of the party's soft left, questions remain over whether Mr. Andrews will serve out a full term as Prime Minister if elected.

Labour's campaign is expected to focus on winning seats in the outer suburbs, which were a key part of Labour's political coalition from 2017 until 2029, when the party last formed government. There is also expected to be a focus on seats in the western part of the country, which departed Labour en masse in the late-2020s and were a key reason why the party failed to dislodge the Liberal Party in the 2033 election. "Our campaign will focus on the everyday, what people care about, and how we can support Tumbrans as they look to become the best they can be," said Mr. Andrews later in his speech.

The United Party's prime ministerial candidate, Max Young, chose to begin his campaign in Kingsbury, the largest city in the state which he used to be premier of. "This campaign will be long, but serves as a chance for us to properly get our message out to the people of Tumbra," said Mr. Young in a fiery speech. "We can continue down the path of free enterprise, a free society, and a government that doesn't overreach, or we can reverse all the progress we've made over the past eight years and elect a Labour government." The United party will be looking to defend their marginal seats in the middle of the country, while possibly attempting to increase their majority in Parliament by making inroads into suburban seats in the south-east and middle of the country.

The Alliance and Moderate parties held smaller-scale unofficial campaign launches after the dissolution of Parliament; both parties are expected to hold peripheral roles in this election unless a hung parliament ensues. The environmentalist Alliance will be looking to shore up its support in inner-city seats, where its traditional opponents are Labour; but also in socially liberal urban seats with higher incomes which may care more about the environment and climate change. "Once again we go to the country to ask them to trust in alternatives to the traditional duopoly," said Alliance leader Michael Berkeley. "Politics can be different, and it will be different with the Alliance."

The centrist Moderates, meanwhile, have been described as being in the fight for their political life, with eleven of their fourteen MPs being elected in 2033 with less than 55% of preference votes. Moderate leader Johanna Browne, who became leader after the party left the country's governing coalition in 2035, said in their campaign launch that the aim of the Moderates was to "remind Tumbra that neither hardcore conservatism nor full-throated socialism is good for the country, and that centrism, while often derided as boring, offers sensible, straight-forward solutions to the problems we face today."

The economy is expected to be the key issue in this campaign, with regional inequality set to be a large talking point out in the key seats out west. The state of the country's healthcare and welfare system, which has come under criticism under the Newell government, is also expected to become a key talking point in the election. Opinion polls all point to a close election; most pollsters have Labour and United neck-and-neck in both the primary vote and preference vote, with Labour eking out a small majority in swing seats currently held by the United Party.

HADRIAN - BAÏE-VERTE

This U-18 squad features many that are still in the process of cutting their teeth on the pitch, but show promise. Jin Jingonhsasee is a Quebecois-Chromatik that's turned heads by appearing out of nowhere, but won the U-18 WC with a good blend of height and instincts; Claudia Lethbridge-Antonio at the center of a defense alongside Raoul Gappon is solid, while Dean Crankshaw steps in at Left Back, excelling at sniping from range.

At the center of the field, the Young Anomalies are led by Maddie Prenn, alongside Jayla Lethbridge-Antonio, Claudia's twin sister. Prenn is a sniper who is willing to shoot from anywhere on the field, while Jayla is the more level-headed Lethbridge-Antonio perfect for the ball-winning mold. They'll have Edith Chance, a crossing merchant, on the left side, and Carlisle Watford, more of an all-around player, to the right.

Harriet Baïe-Verte remains up front - as Jean-Baptiste has graduated - but Phil Hadrian steps in as a promising substitute, being more of a middle-distance shooting merchant.

FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH
For Immediate Release

The FAC are open to accepting bids from any corporate entity in any nation to assume the title sponsorship of the Under-18 World Championship commencing with the 22nd edition

RTC Transit of Banija have been the major financial partner of the FAC during the 10 editions since the collapse of Sporting World Magazine and the relationship between the Banijan company and Baker Park's governing body has been an unqualified success.

As the competition moves into its' third decade the opportunity to open primary sponsorship (and potential secondary sponsorship) to other nations in the major sporting regions and the IAC; as alluded to in the signups thread:

The FAC will be seeking bids (ICly) for Title Sponsorship for the next 3 Year period as part of the Everything thread when that occurs. Nations should present a summary of a corporation that will be willing to potentially put up substantial funding to have their name on the marquee, cover the running costs of the tourney itself plus a tidy "sponsorship fee" that would get the attention of the folks at 333 State Street, 11th Floor, Belle Haven, Baker Park B8701 A0303.

That is the address of HQ of the FAC; please note that while advertising standards in Baker Park are not restrictive, many other nations that participate regularly have stricter laws/policies regarding the promotion or sale of various items and/or services.

Monetarily, consider what title sponsorship entails when bidding--prominent exposure with in-stadium signage, multiversal TV and print/online media coverage, promotional considerations--as anything in the mid eight figure range would be considered desultory.
we need to make up a shortfall in revenue from missing out on the World Cup Finals!

Looking forward to the bidding.

Origins: Malvina

Part 1

This post mentions war, death, and drug addiction.

The year was 2049, the date 25th of February. Dr Kang Seungjae screamed and reached out to the young woman trapped under a debris as he was dragged towards a VTOL waiting for him by an imperial warrior with urgency, eager to get him into it as fast as possible and evacuate him, knowing there was little time with invaders from Drecha almost capturing the city. The woman, wearing a tattered school uniform with a deep blue blazer over a white shirt, all stained by dust and dirt, called out for her father, who could do nothing but watch as more Drechan fighters continued to bombard the area, until one managed to hit a nearby building and send it crashing down between Dr Kang and his beloved daughter.

"Jieun! Nooo!"

It was the last thing he managed to say before breaking down into tears, unable to even speak coherently. He had lost his wife when Jieun was little, and now he had lost his precious daughter too. The sadness, the horror, the guilt...all of it was too much for him to bear. He no longer struggled. His limbs went limp as his screams turned into quiet sobs, barely audible among the sounds of explosions.

The young soldier dragging him too had a heavy heart, understanding his orders were to save as many civilians as he could, as saving them all would be impossible. "Better to save a father than lose both a father and his daughter," he thought to himself as he and his partner took the crying scientist to the VTOL.

Present Day

Kang Seungjae stood before the graves of his wife and daughter after paying his respects, staring into the carvings that spelled Jieun's name, then into the small object in his hand. It had been two years, and yet he still remembered the grim incident as if it was yesterday. No matter how much he tried to drown himself in work, or how much he wished his grief would evaporate like the copious amounts of vape liquid he inhaled every day, he would wake up in cold sweat, in ungodly hours of the night, from nightmares of her death in the Interdimensional Incident. As he snapped back to reality he took another glance at her grave, then back at what he was holding. "The Lionheart", as he heard it was called, a mostly golden chip with deep blue components, shimmering as if it were sea water under the moonlight. Another notable feature on it was a symbol; a six-pointed star and a crescent moon inside a sun. An artefact he managed to get his hands on through unscrupulous means, made from materials unfamiliar to even the Prism Foundation or the Ministry of Spirituality and Supernatural Occurences...but none of it mattered. His resolve was firm and immovable. He nodded to himself. "Don't worry, dear. I'll bring you back soon."

Starting the next day, Dr Kang would be very busy. He would send his three weeks notice to his superior, and in the meantime used his connections and savings to buy the best parts made of the finest materials on and even off the market. When he wasn't doing that, he would draw up plans, write code, and do everything else to make sure that he was ready.

Ready to build the perfect vessel for his precious daughter to return to.

The Snowy U18 Owlets' return to the U18 World Cup with hopes to avoid an early exit like last time around.

Image
The fans of the Snowy Owls/Owlets also deserve particular mention. Not only are they renowned for their chants, but they are also bringing the Thunder Clap (Click here for example) to the stadium, something that the players join in as a pre-game ritual that has left an impression on the opponents and opposing fans more than once (OOC: similar to the Haka of the New Zealand All Blacks). The players will form a triangle near the kick-off circle and lift their arms, which the fans do as well. Then a lone drum will start to signal the rhythm and both players and fans alike will move in unison, each clap accompanied by a loud cry, the claps (and cries) speeding up, creating an overwhelming sense of impending doom.

This is Crawford's first tournament with the U18s. Coming from the youth system of Port Tacassam FC, he is seen as one of the best coaches working with young players and he also has adopted the traditional flexible 4-3-3 as tactical formation for the youngsters.

Fromagerie de l'abbaye de Breteuil

Breteuil Abbey Cheese Factory

Fromagerie de l'abbaye de Breteuil (Breteuil Abbey Cheese Factory) is the oldest cheese factory in Nova Calania, a sub-continent in Anaia. The Breteuil Abbey was founded in 1836 by monks from the older continent and they started producing cheese as a hobby. The cheese factory fastly became the largest one, not only in Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove but also in Nova Calania. It produces two types of cheese: The Bleu Jean-Jacquois (Jean-Jacquois Blue Cheese) and the Rivière Stove, a soft cheese named after the Stove River that may look like a camembert.

Today, monks of the Breteuil Abbey are still making these two kind of cheese, with bigger and modern equipment, and under the leadership of Pierre-Antoine Pinette, abbott of the Breteuil Abbey. The annual revenue of the cheese factory is 15 billions Jean-Jacquois dollars.

Manager: Walter Garrison, 53
Associate Manager: Janice Camarillo, 41
Assistant Managers: Peter Bridger, 44; Hux Bancroft, 50; Tiny Carroll, 49; Chris Garrison (Walter's brother), 51

SQUAD LIST Starters in BOLD)

GOALKEEPERS

1 Dalton Collier (6-foot-4, 215 pounds, 17), [b]Alternate captain
Son of a manager at the amateur level; great instincts for positioning the defence. Leadership abilities led the team to vote him as alternate captain. Uses size and agility to his advantage.
22 Jared Gonzalez (5-foot-11, 190 pounds, 18)
He speaks several languages, partly because of his background and partly to be able to converse with teammates.
30 Scott Conway (5-foot-8, 175 pounds, 16)
Has great reflexes and uses them to overcome his lack of size.

DEFENDERS
2 Max Wilcox (5-foot-11, 150 pounds, 16)
Captain
Doesn't like to garner attention, but is super intelligent and has an extremely high IQ, both within and outside of football. Also has blinding speed.
3 Julian Gomez (6-foot, 195 pounds, 17)
He uses size to his advantage in positioning against the opponent's central midfielder or centre forward.
5 Carlos Ramriez (6-foot, 205 pounds, 16
Another big, bulky defender in central defence; if anyone's going to draw bookings, it's gonna be him because of his aggressive style of play.
6 Danny Haley (6-foot-2, 190 pounds, 17)
He's not nearly as fast as Wilcox, but he has some speed. He also has the ability to join the attack and has played defensive midfielder on occasion.
15 Steve Perine (5-foot-11, 185 pounds, 18)
Perine is often the player who substitutes for Ramirez, starts in favour of him if he's sitting out a suspension. When he plays, Haley often shifts to central defence and he takes over the wing.
16 Carter WIlliams (5-foot-7, 165 pounds, 17)
Has a penchant for getting into scrapes when he feels his team needs a spark or he needs to defend himself or his teammates. He also links well with the offensive midfielders.
18 Javier Hernandez (6-foot-2, 200 pounds, 16)
Can be used on either wing. Typically only plays fullback in either a four-man or three-man backline.

MIDFIELDERS
12 Matt Bailey (6-foot-3, 200 pounds, 16}
He plays defensive midfielder. Has strong passing skills, but is often responsible for shutting down the opposition's best striker or playmaking midfielder.
13 Tanner Knight (5-foot-11, 175 pounds, 17)
He brings speed on the wings and a knack for slotting the ball in the right place for passes. He's a bit uncertain with his shot, so he rarely scores goals.
14 João Gomes (5-foot-10, 165 pounds, 15
The youngest member of the starting 11, he has a lot of on-ball gifts, but still has growing up to do, both on and off the pitch, even when compared to his teammates.
10 Marco Amato (5-foot-9, 170 pounds, 17
He's the unquestioned playmaker on the team, with an uncanny ability to find the open player on the offensive side of the pitch.
17 Tom McDaniels (5-foot-5, 152 pounds, 15
He usually substitutes for Bailey and has the ability to get under an opponent's skin and draw fouls and bookings.
19 Maeve Callahan (5-foot-8, 145 pounds, 17
She appears when the team needs an offensive spark.
20 Kyle Ordoño (6-foot-3, 210 pounds, 17)
He has the size to play defensive midfielder and the skill to play offensive midfielder. He hasn't yet learned the tricks of the former, so he handles the latter. He can play as a third forward.

FORWARDS
11 Jorge Acosta (5-foot-10, 175 pounds, 16)
He's skilled with the ball and can either draw defenders to him and slip the ball to an open teammate or he can shoot it himself.
21 Emil Moreau (6-foot-5, 230 pounds, 17)
He's a big bruiser on the front line and uses his size for positioning and pure intimidation. If you're a Stars supporter, you don't want him trying to play the ball with his feet other than trying to shoot it.
23 Gregg Anderson (6-foot-1, 185 pounds, 18
He brings a similar skill set as Acosta's to the pitch, but he hasn't played in several months, so conditioning is a question.
24 David Masters (6-foot, 190 pounds, 16)
He plays with more precision than Moreau, but doesn't have as much physicality as he does.

Walter Garrison stood out under the overhang as his Sarzonian UNder-18 national team finished their training session and jogged toward the showers. He clutched the plastic water bottle he'd just filled from the cooler kept for him and the managerial staff.

He saw signs of improvement in his team. They seemed to be developing their chemistry and familiarity with the aggressive passing-based system he was implementing. It wasn't his system, specifically; rather, it was the system Sarzonian football managers were being directed to implement.

"Haters are gonna call it antiquated," he said of the system, one which requires the forwards to help out on defence and defensive players to join the attack, something once called Total Football on Steroids for how all 10 field players had to be all over the place on the pitch. "But I don't give a sh-, er, rip." Garrison shook his head as he caught himself. One more change from the old ways, the emphasis on avoiding profanity. "I think we've gotten too far away from our identity as a football programme. I'm pretty glad we're getting back to what made Sarzonia football uniquely Sarzonian."

One more thing changed about this Under 21 national team from the previous time Sarzonia entered this competition. Namely, the team's nickname. With the previous editions being the tournament hosting the youngest teams, it made sense to refer to those units as the Baby Stars, but the Incorporated Football Federation had different ideas. He knew what their plans were, but he couldn't go public with their intent. What he could do was assess how his team was going.

"I hope Max grows into his role," Garrison said of defender Max Wilcox, voted in by the team as captain despite his efforts to decline the nomination. It was a vote the coaches had hoped would go that way, and each member of the Sarzonia managerial staff smiled when it went Wilcox's way. In fact, the only reaction Wilcox had was to blush uncontrollably. "He hates attention, even when it's deserved. He'd rather just do his thing in the shadows if he could help it. But these players like him, they respect him, and they listen to him." Garrison didn't deny or admit reports that one player who didn't listen was kicked off the team when he cursed Wilcox out.

"That's an internal matter. We don't discuss that," he said. "Right now, my focus is getting this team ready for the opener and the rest of Group B. Whenever the hell that is." Garrison's voice trailed off and he grimaced slightly before shaking his head. "Your guess is as good as mine," he said, fuming slightly, when asked when the Toddler Stars would actually kick off the Under 21 World Cup.

Besides the Toddler Stars, Group B includes the likes of The United States of Devonta, Abanhfleft, Crpostran, HUElavia, and the Commonwealth of Baker Park. Except for Crpostran, Sarzonia has at least some history with the other countries in the group. "We may not have played these specific teams as often, but everyone in that room in there knows about the other teams in the group, how they play, and what we're up against."

Garrison stood up, said, "thank you, then walked toward the adjacent building where the managerial staff had their shower facilities.

Five males named to RTC team,
by Caitlyn Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

With the 21st edition of the RTC Cup set to get underway, some of the greatest young players are set to showcase their ability, and after a Cassadagan team (Starksville Coastal Academy) surprised international competition by winning the Rising Stars Cup within the IFCF. We have seen Cassadagan clubs have somewhat more success overall in the IFCF, but clearly there is still a long way to go there. That is why the Rising Stars Cup championship surprised as many people in Cassadaigua as it may have around the world.

That’s one reason for us to be excited about this team, and there are five players (three starters) from that academy on the IFCF team. However, another story with this team is the amount of male players selected: five in total. We have certainly seen young men be named to this team, but not in this quantity. Now, we can hold the applause thoroughly, because only Jamie McKenna was named a starter, but I think this is still noteworthy as it shows the value of Zack Pierce’s program to develop male talent. For those non-Cassadagans who don’t immediately recognize that name, Pierce was a long time midfielder for the senior team, and after retirement he took on a role to head efforts to make our soccer teal all gender inclusive. Things like that take time, but Pierce is certainly thrilled with the make up of this team. “Cassadagan soccer has developed to the point where no one is surprised to see men on our team, but that still does not change the fact that as a gender, we are in the minority here. The programs that are in place throughout the country have allowed boys to see that they are no different then the males from other nations,” Pierce said in an interview. He did go one to say that he would be feeling it was more of a success if there were more male starters, but realizes how much of an accomplishment it is for those on the team.

Jamie McKenna is a center-back, and the 17-year old physical player competes with Concord Heights Central Academy. He told me that he thought he would be named to the team, mostly because of communication that his parents and coaches have had, but he still couldn’t believe it came true when he was named to the team. He was also excited to be named as a starter. There are rumors that McKenna will hit the transfer window next year, when he is eligible to sign with any of the Concord Heights area CSL teams (both Concord Heights City and Suburban, as well as Sterling Heights), although Jamie has denied that. “That’s all because people thing I either expect to start or get major minutes right away,” McKenna said, “but I got here by hard work and nothing being given to me, and therefore, I will put in that work to show that I deserve more minutes when I given any kind of minutes. Am I thinking about foreign options? A little. I mean, who wouldn’t? The CSL is just one of many great leagues out there, and I will work hard for anyone!”

When the competition begins, the Fillies will be in a group with the hosts from Graintfjall, as well as Tikariot, a nation that whenever we play them in anything, it never fails to be a highly entertaining game. Juvencus and The 14 Stars are also in the group, along with the lesser known Conania.

Remember, the RTC Cup is indeed sponsored by the Regional Transit Corporation, who has established a beautiful transpotation network within Brattleboro. Any ticket holder from this competition can use their ticket stubs for a 50% off monthly pass voucher until the end of the year.
