Journey to the Heart of Progress: Nobilis Ashevilla Unveiled

Nobilis Ashevilla, North Carolina, United States

The sun glistened on the horizon as the plane descended towards the International Asheville Airport. Once a modest national hub, it now stood as a testament to the transformative power of vision and innovation. Under the auspices of WonderTech Industries and the indomitable leadership of Chairman Nexus Ravenworth, this airport had metamorphosed into arguably the world's grandest aviation gateway.

Its design was breathtaking. A perfect, permanent replica of the White City from the Chicago World Fair, it was as if history had been plucked from the annals of time and placed right in the heart of modernity. The gleaming white structures, ornate fountains, and meticulously manicured gardens offered travelers a glimpse into a bygone era, while the state-of-the-art facilities whispered of the future.

No sooner had one disembarked from the plane than they were ushered onto one of the high-speed passenger trains. These trains, known for their punctuality and comfort, were the quickest way to reach the heart of Nobilis Ashevilla. The interiors of the train were plush, with seats that adjusted to one's posture and large windows that offered panoramic views of the evolving landscape.

As the train picked up speed, the iconic Majestic Getaway Bridge loomed in the distance. An engineering marvel, it spanned the vast expanse of the expanded French Board River. The bridge, with its intricate design and towering pillars, was a symbol of the city's resurgence and ambition. As the train glided over the bridge, passengers could see the shimmering waters below and the city's skyline in the distance.

At the heart of Nobilis Ashevilla, the Majestic Getaway Bridge takes center stage. Rising gracefully above the majestic French Broad River, this architectural masterpiece is supported by three awe-inspiring micro-hive city towers, each soaring to a staggering height of 20,000 feet. These towers, reaching towards the heavens, not only serve as integral components of the bridge's structure but also house a variety of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, creating a dynamic urban ecosystem.

The Majestic Getaway Bridge spans across the vast expanse of the French Broad River, connecting the eastern and western banks. Composed of three stacked lanes, it facilitates seamless transportation within the city. The lower two lanes cater to motor traffic, providing swift access to different districts, while the uppermost lane accommodates rail traffic, allowing for efficient and eco-friendly commuting options.

The micro-hive city towers, which anchor the Majestic Getaway Bridge, are architectural marvels in their own right. Rising majestically towards the sky, they embody the city's commitment to both luxury and inclusivity. The design philosophy ensures that residents of all backgrounds and social strata can enjoy a high-quality lifestyle, fostering a strong sense of community and solidarity among the city's diverse population.

Starting from the base of the towers, the lower levels are dedicated to the working class, offering affordable yet luxurious residences, vibrant commercial spaces, and recreational facilities. Here, the bustling streetscapes bustle with activity as residents and visitors indulge in a variety of retail outlets, cafes, and entertainment venues. Parks and open spaces provide tranquil retreats, allowing residents to connect with nature amidst the urban environment.

As one ascends through the micro-hive city towers, the middle levels cater to the aspirations of the city's burgeoning middle class. Spacious apartments, adorned with modern aesthetics, provide comfortable living spaces while maintaining a strong sense of style and elegance. Residents of these levels have access to state-of-the-art recreational facilities, educational institutions, and world-class healthcare services, ensuring a well-rounded and fulfilling lifestyle.

Moving higher still, the upper levels of the towers accommodate the city's wealthier citizens. Exclusive private communities, with their luxurious residences and panoramic vistas, cater to those seeking an elevated living experience. Opulent interiors, adorned with the finest materials and cutting-edge technologies, epitomize the pinnacle of sophistication and elegance. The topmost levels of the towers boast lavish penthouses and expansive terraces, offering breathtaking views of the cityscape below.

The approach to Nobilis Ashevilla was nothing short of spectacular. The city's skyline, dominated by the towering WonderTower, stood as a beacon of architectural brilliance and ambition. At 8,000 feet, it symbolized the city's grandeur and the limitless possibilities that lay within. The tower, with its sleek design and glass facade, reflected the city's ethos of blending tradition with innovation.

Nobilis Ashevilla was a city where the past and future coalesced. The streets buzzed with activity - cyberware-enhanced individuals discussing the latest innovations, while traditional artisans showcased their crafts in quaint shops. The influence of WonderTech Industries was palpable, with bio-enhancements becoming an integral part of daily life, influencing everything from fashion to cuisine.

The city was a cultural haven. Theaters echoed with applause, music venues were alive with melodies from around the world, and museums showcased a rich tapestry of creativity. The French Board River added to the city's charm, its banks dotted with parks and recreational areas. The river, once a natural barrier, had now become a unifying force, with bridges and ferries connecting different parts of the city.

Yet, amidst this bustling metropolis, the legacy of Chairman Nexus Ravenworth was evident. His vision had transformed a struggling town into a global powerhouse, a city that was a beacon of progress, innovation, and culture. Streets named after him, statues in his honor, and institutions bearing his name were scattered throughout the city, a constant reminder of his indelible impact.

Chairman Nexus Ravenworth's aesthetic vision was evident in the city's architectural choices. Modernist architecture was banned, as he valued beauty over function, aiming to infuse "art" into "architecture." This decision led to the restoration of classic electric streetcars, which now gracefully glided through the city streets, offering both residents and visitors a nostalgic yet efficient mode of transportation.

The city's districts each had their unique charm. The tech district, with its futuristic buildings and labs, was a hub of innovation. The cultural district, with its theaters and galleries, celebrated the city's artistic heritage. The financial district, with its skyscrapers and bustling markets, showcased the city's economic prowess.

As the train pulled into the central station, passengers were greeted with a sight that encapsulated the spirit of Nobilis Ashevilla. A large plaza, with fountains and sculptures, was surrounded by buildings that represented the city's diverse architectural styles. From neo-classical to baroque, each building told a story of the city's evolution.

Visitors to the city often remarked on its unique energy. It was a place where dreams were realised, where the impossible became possible. It was a city that embraced its past while boldly charting its future. And as one stepped out of the train and into the heart of Nobilis Ashevilla, they couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement, eager to explore all that the city had to offer.

Majestic Getaway Bridge - Hive Tower

In the sprawling metropolis of Nobilis Ashevilla, where the future is now and innovation breathes life into every corner, the Micro-Hive City Towers stand as beacons of human achievement and architectural wonder. These towers, integral to the structure and spirit of the Majestic Getaway Bridge, do more than just connect the city's disparate parts; they symbolize the unity and ambition of a society that dares to dream beyond the stars.

On a day marked by clear skies and the promise of progress, Nexus Ravenworth, the visionary chairman of WonderTech Industries, embarks on a journey through one of these iconic towers. Nexus is no ordinary figure; his presence alone is a testament to the city's diversity and its embrace of the extraordinary. A shark demonoid of striking appearance, with two cybernetic limbs that gleam under the artificial and natural light alike, Nexus embodies the fusion of organic and technological that Nobilis Ashevilla champions. His large, expressive shark tail sways with a grace that belies its power, and his attire—a bold mix of metal and punk aesthetics, adorned with chains and patches—speaks to a personal rebellion against conformity. Atop his head, a pair of horned gaming headsets rests, not merely a tool for entertainment but a symbol of his connection to technology and the digital realms that he has helped to pioneer.

As Nexus makes his way from the bustling commercial heart of the tower, where businesses thrive and innovation is the currency of success, to the serene recreational areas designed for relaxation and community, he carries with him a golden-wrapped cigar. This cigar, its smoke curling into intricate patterns before fading into the air, is more than a luxury; it is a symbol of Nexus's belief in the importance of beauty, quality, and the finer things in life amidst the relentless pursuit of progress.

The commercial zones of the tower are alive with activity, a testament to the economic vitality of Nobilis Ashevilla. Here, entrepreneurs pitch their latest inventions to eager investors, shops display goods that blend art and functionality, and holographic advertisements promise experiences that blur the line between reality and fantasy. Nexus navigates this space with an ease born of familiarity, his cybernetic limbs moving with a precision that is both human and beyond. His presence commands attention, yet he acknowledges the silent tributes of respect and admiration from those he passes with a nod or a smile, his demeanour a blend of authority and approachability.

As he ascends to the recreational areas, the ambience shifts. The air grows fresher, the sounds of commerce fade into a tranquil hum, and the light softens, filtered through the lush greenery that adorns these spaces. Here, in the heart of the tower yet seemingly a world away from the city below, Nexus finds a moment of peace. Families enjoy leisurely afternoons together, individuals lose themselves in books or the virtual landscapes offered by their personal devices, and friends share laughter and conversation. The recreational area, with its gardens, water features, and open spaces, offers a respite from the pace of city life, a place where the community can come together and individuals can find solitude.

Nexus's journey through the tower, reflective of his journey in shaping Nobilis Ashevilla, culminates in a moment of quiet reflection as he overlooks the city from this elevated vantage point. The panoramic view before him—a city alive with the energy of its people, the architectural splendour of its buildings, and the natural beauty that has been preserved and integrated into its design—is a testament to what can be achieved when vision meets determination. The Majestic Getaway Bridge, visible in the distance, spans the French Broad River, a symbol of connection and unity that Nexus has helped to forge.

In this moment, Nexus Ravenworth, with his unique blend of demonoid heritage and technological augmentation, his personal style that defies norms, and his vision that has transformed a city, embodies the spirit of Nobilis Ashevilla. It is a spirit of innovation, diversity, and a relentless pursuit of a future where technology enhances humanity, where the community thrives on the strength of its diversity, and where the challenges of today are met with the solutions of tomorrow.

As the scent of his cigar mingles with the fresh air, Nexus allows himself a rare moment of satisfaction. Nobilis Ashevilla, with all its complexities, its challenges, and its triumphs, continues to evolve, driven by the dreams and efforts of its people. And at the heart of it all stands Nexus Ravenworth, a beacon of progress, a champion of diversity, and a visionary leader who has dared to imagine a better world and has taken the steps to make it a reality.

While it would be strange for others aboard the train, the appearance of a slick, sickly mass of black goo opening up into an inky portal was quite normal for the one slipping through, crossing time and space, as the inky void pulled back from around her figure, before retreating into the portal which collapses into a puddle that later vanished from sight by flowing back into the rather tall Shroom who was summoned. She was rather happy to be here, far better than being in containment, only because she was freed after the researchers ran out of things to do with her, determining that she was not a threat despite the horrific metamorphosis she had undergone in the past. The voices had calmed themselves, of course. However, she still got plenty of looks from the others around her, as the train pulled into the station to allow the disgusted, shocked or mildly terrified audience to depart in a vain attempt to forget about the sudden intrusion.

Indeed, today was a good day to live, as she stood pourdly in the train, ignoring some distant whispers in her own head.

A mysterious figure sat on the train. He wore a broad brimmed hat and a blue coat. His eyes were covered by dark glasses. He is Egil the traveler and he has already traveled far this day, having arrived from foreign parts. Weary, he sits silently and still in his seat, almost nodding off. Only when he raises his head, is his face fully visible to his fellow passengers, who notice his greyish blue skin and his fairly formed features. A small girl stares at him, as small children do, she sucks the ear of stuffed animal of indeterminate species.

The traveler smiles an elfish grin at the girl, who returns it. The train has stopped, and the fey rises to disembark. The station brings with it new smells, it is mostly clean, but Egil smells something moldy with his nose so keen. He moves towards the exit, and hopefully fresh air. The smell, although still faint is still there. Outside, he feels more free, it is less crowded and he can see farther. In this distance he notices a dark cloud of smoke, no it is like black spores covered in goo. Still his eyes see farther and he sees beyond the blackness. The goop is an opening to another place. Curious he moves towards it.

This place...It's truly overwhelming and unimaginable! When I compare it to where I'm from....My name is Haizelita Aldridge I'm from a pretty wealthy and prominent family from Fa, a large domain in the Empire of Elivwitand. I'm 119, that might seem old, and it is in HUMAN years, but I might as well be a spring chick for all other intents and purposes. Even in Elf years, I'm still very young. Adult of age, mind you, but a young woman, ready to face the world. I've wondered what lies beyond the Great Unknown Sea, besides the lands of Borealis off to the far east. Anyway, here I am in Nobilis Ashevilla, a place that truly is unlike my home in Fa. This place is teeming with large buildings that reach to the sky, sleak silver and metals used for said buildings. It honestly seems like it'd be fun to run, jump and fly from rooftops to rooftops, but is that even allowed here? I can do it at home, sure but when the tallest buildings are usually castles and stone forts on large mounds, this truly is something more marvelous! Mechanical transports that can carry large groups of people to and fro! Amazing how this thing operates, I wonder what sorts of magic makes it work? We have nothing like this in Elviwtand. Well not sure I truly care that much that we don't beyond the novelty of it. it's nice and all, but so many people. Guess I'm a little too pampered and used to a private coach with any one of my servants. On this train, a lot of other people were around me of all kinds. I guess a fair amount were locals but some seemed like tourists like me. A strange mass of goo appeared, I wondered what that was about? It could be some other kind of traveler materializing from another plane, another realm of existence. Strange it was. It was not of my concern however, I have no interest in chasing portal shadows, I wished to see more of the city.

A nice looking tall guy sat in the train, waiting for it to arrive. A veteran of many battles, both expected and unexpected, his body beared it's share of scars from bullets, blades and shrapnel. Right now though, he is enjoying a peaceful vacation, weating just his jeans and t-shirt without a bulletproof vest and helmet. Vadim's bag and pouches, that used to hold ammo and grenades now hold only beer cans, a small bottle of whiskey and stashed cannabis. Only three magazines sticked out of one of his pockets. He sat, relaxed, drinking beer out of his can, savoring the moment of peace. He fell asleep during the ride for a while, and his freshest memories resurfaced... Of him and comrades yelling battlecries and shooting at nazi soldiers, and looting the defeated enemies. His most recent wounds were healed by a stimpack, but a slight phantom pain still was felt. After these adventures in a time-space portal, that has appeared on Sky Reaver territory and led to WW2 world, he will enjoy a rest well deserved.

Suddenly, he saw a strange mass of black goop appearing near him. He caught himself instinctively preparing to grab his trusty VOX-21 assualt rifle, that rested by his side on a belt. A rather old gun, invented during the revolution in 1982, it was so ingeniously made, that even decades after it's still one of the prime guns, used by Syndicalist major faction thanks to it's reliability and ease of maintenance. At first, he prepared for something, after all, during his past vacation, he ended up having to hold his line agaisnt a demigod on the arena, using only a bayonet on his trusty old VOX-21. He was turned into courrupted mosntrosity and then back into his original form... But then, he felt calm, as his gut feeling told him, that there will be no battles to fight.

He looked around, other passangers were also surprised by the sudden appearence of this weird portal, but for a second, Vadim thought, that one of them, a humanoid dragon was also looking at him too. Vadim also looked at her and the strange guest, after all, non-humans are very rare sight in Sky Reaver commonwealth. Either way, this promises to be an interesting trip for a battle weary warrior.

"Boo!" Viktor cried from beneath Vadim, laughing maniacally as he knocked the human's shoulder as he exited the locomotive, and with his eight yellow eyes, looking briefly one of the many hanging banners of WonderTech Industries, and eyeing back at Vadim, and then picking up the scent of a dragonborn, Heizelita Aldridge. "Welcome to the "Empire" portion of Xylvannia. Our grasp is far and wide." He smiled wickedly as he intentionally walked past a pole draped with the national flag of the United States; he disrespectfully flicked it and then disappeared into the crowd. The Crown Prince was here for something, but given that little presentation, he was likely coming to speak with the Chairman, a fellow Xylvannian, who heads not only this county but the largest megacorporation to have ever been built. Though, with a member of the Imperial House of Xylvannia showing their face, there was evidence it wasn't built so rapidly without getting a piece of the Eternal Empire's immersive treasury for a price.

Amidst the bustling vibrancy of Broadway Street in Nobilis Ashevilla, the sudden vanishing of the Eternal Crown Prince had barely ceased to be the center of attention when the air filled with the resolute sounds of trumpets and the rhythmic march of Sentinel Troopers. These elite protectors of the city, identifiable by their sleek armor and rifles carried with precision, paraded with a purpose that resonated through the heart of the city. Alongside them, a local school band added a layer of communal spirit to the spectacle, their rendition of "Wealth for the Many, None for the Deceptive Few," the national anthem of WonderTech Industries, weaving through the air. This anthem, a symbol of the city's guiding principles, played to a backdrop of architectural marvels and the diverse throngs of Nobilis Ashevilla, encapsulated a moment where tradition and progress marched hand in hand, showcasing the unity and strength of a society under the vigilant watch of the Sentinel Vanguard.

Mary was a little too excited for the fanfare and goings-on, hardly noting the dragonkin taking interest in her, though she also a chance at freedom she had never experienced before... Given her underground home and the various ruins about the surface. This was another realm, beyond the domes of the moon, the many caverns of Mars, and the locked corridors of Foggycap. Hence, just as the parade began, she had taken to using a brief incantation to summon up her tools of choice for tagging spires, giving a mock salute to any onlookers, smiling ear to ear, before falling back into an inky puddle that had seemingly spilled from under her. Of course, it was a staged fall, though the puddle soon collapsed into itself as she did a flip onto a nearby rooftop, only to walk off the roof itself onto a wall, painting a little cross upon it with a triangle in the upper left corner, then jumping off into yet another portal to vanish from sight temporarily.

She'd come back later, popping up from yet another inky void in the crowd, doing a half-dance to shake off her adrenaline rush, as she seemed to be enjoying herself, though now would be the perfect time to ambush her with any requests or interactions before something else grabs her attention unceremoniously like an overgrown and overstimulated child.

The inky cloud disappeared as well as Egil's view into the other realm. The fey then moved onto other things, as he'd heard a commotion coming up the street. The majority of those on the plaza seemed to move towards it, forming a crowd. Egil decided to join the crowd and casually walked in the same direction. He strained to see what was going on, it appeared to be some sort of procession. Suddenly it flashed dark in front of him and the smell of fungus was intense. There wobbled in front of him a dark inky figure. "What are you a dancing mushroom?" he unashamedly blurted out.

"Holy hell!"- The last person Vadim expected to see was Viktor, that bored demigod, who decided to enter that arena fight on the faithful day, and Vadim had to hold the line, fighitng tooth and nail for his life agaist the overwhelming odds. Thankfully, this time, this being didn't try to pick a fight with a weathered man-at-arms. Maybe, because it appeared, that he was in a hurry. Either way, battle weary Vadim was just glad, that he didn't have to fight a powerful being once again... He still remembers this battle with pride though.

The vibrant cityscape, Vadim saw, was impressive by itself... Even after looking at all this from the train window, it still never failed to impress. A city, which was much more technologically developed, than any other place, Vadim has ever visited in his life. Even Junction City, Neon City or New Sodom were mere towns compared to this. A tower, of more than two kilometers height?! It would surely dwarf all and any building, Sky Reavers ever built. Vadim just whishered -"Nihuya sebe...", as he walked slowly, enjoying the sights and wondering, when Sky Reavers could build something like this.

Loud music and excited crowd made Vadim curious, after all, where the crowd and music are, there is a festival, and where is the festival, there can be booze. Rarely for free! He went on, and saw his colleagues in arms parading through the street. Sentinel Troopers, an elite army of Nobilis Ashevilla, which is known for it's combination of skill, tradition and technology. They wore a high-tech sleek armor, that Vadim belived, exceeded even the armor of Neon Suns, the most high-tech force in Sky Reaver Commonwealth. And they also had rifles, that he imagined, would be extremely ergonomic and accurate even on high distances... He looked at his own old VOX-21 rifle. It may be primitive, compared to these rifles, but... he felt, that he wouldn't part with it easily... This was a heirloom rifle, with which, his grandfather has fought during the Revolution in 1982.

Being a trooper and a veteran, Vadim felt pride and solidarity for these military men, but also lamentation when he imagined, how easier the things would have been if a few of such guys were by his side during the hardest of the battles he has ever been to. He saluted the Sentinel Vanguard troopers, as they passed by, feeling solidarity with them.

Suddenly, an inky void has appeared near Vadim. The same, he saw in the train. He now got curious and decided to strike up a conversation. -"Oh, hey there! Did ya' just... Teleport through that black portal?! Oh, hell I wish, I could do something like that, when a grenade landed near me during that battle at the pass... My left arm wouldn't have been all slashed with shrapnel! Still got the scars, still proudly bear them! Wanna see closer?"

Badeat wrote:"What are you a dancing mushroom?" he unashamedly blurted out.

"A what? Maybe! But then again, what's it to ya? I'm-"

And she would be interrupted by the fellow anarchist, though obviously calling them such wasn't doing them any favors, so let's just call them what they are instead: a veteran, given nobody else here (besides him, perhaps) was an actual anarchist, and only Mary and our fellow Vadim were truly rambunctious party animals.

Sky Reavers wrote:"Oh, hey there! Did ya' just... Teleport through that black portal?! Oh, hell I wish, I could do something like that, when a grenade landed near me during that battle at the pass... "Ghk!"

Obviously she choked up on her own branching tongue, but she manages to get by, before collecting herself in her giddy state, practically bobbing in place like a choppy lake.

"Yea! I did! I mean, it's void magic, but clearly not something you could easily gain, much less master. Haha! It's freedom incarnate! Even if the voices sometimes get loud. But! There's nothing to it after plenty of practice, really!"

She'd then offer her hands to the duo, crossing them, perhaps intentionally with mild malice, or perhaps as a playful tease, offering a goofy smile upon her face as the inky goop from her cap hung before her head like a slimy curtain, roped up into thick string and globs, but never really disconnecting from her. Those were obviously spores, perhaps, though it was clear to anyone who had taken up a mycology course that her spores would be, or should be, black like ink. Yet, the call of the void lingered in the back of her head, as she looks off to the side with a quick glance, before returning her hyperactive gaze upon the two.

"So, I'm Mary Hoss! I suppose you two must be familiar friends, right?"

Oh, she's such a goof. I almost forgot.

Egil still wasn't sure what the creature was, but it was clearly insane, but also capable of great magic. "What it is to me, is novelty. I am a traveler and new to this realm." The inky being turned towards another strange creature, a dragonic woman, with such speed, that Egil doubted that she heard his answer. Why she finally paused after introducing herself, the fey also answered: "I am a stranger here and know no one. I am Egil from Badeatia."

Amid Broadway Street's celebratory ambiance, enhanced by WonderTech's Sentinel Vanguard's disciplined march and patriotic melodies from a local school band, Julius Verneer, a white anthropomorphic feline dressed in the height of fashion, observes the unfolding parade with a discerning eye. His attention shifts as the Crown Prince of Xylvannia makes a fleeting appearance, engaging briefly with a human in a moment of apparent familiarity before blending back into the crowd.

Julius, his golden glasses momentarily removed for a polish, watches this interaction with a mix of smugness and irritation, his expression a complex tapestry of emotions. Turning to Heizelita Aldridge, the dragonborn nearby, he comments succinctly yet pointedly, encapsulating the gravity of the political undercurrents with a few well-chosen words.

"House Revanworth and House Stormkav, not seeing eye to eye, it seems," Julius remarks, his voice laced with a hint of intrigue. "And with the whispers of a Kilamora on the horizon, we might just see the skies over the Fatherland shadowed by nuclear clouds once more, reminiscent of the Great Unification War's darkest days."

His brief statement, laden with historical and political weight, offers a glimpse into the potential upheaval hinted at by the prince's transient presence, setting a stark contrast against the backdrop of the parade's festivity and the city's architectural grandeur.

"Egil! Surely I've probably met an Egil before... But from Badeatia? Ha! How swell! Very, very nice to meet you sir! Indeed! Though, I do wonder, perhaps you have heard of Foggycap, no? A strange land of magic, of mushrooms, of spires that reach to the sky like antennas to the heavens, reaching out as the last remnants of humanity in a post-flash society. But then again, it's equally likely you've never heard of any of that stuff, too. It's perfectly fine if you don't know, of course. We're all new here! Or should be. So, Egil, I suppose you probably know nothing of Gaia, too, which is fine! Even if I'm more of a free spirit in her eyes, embracing my nature fully rather than sticking to more rigid little boxes. How boring!"

She seemed to ramble on with her newfound energy, clearly excited, given her eyes had lit up with a gentle sparkle, even if she was a bit childish. Yet, she seems to hold her hands out, for the obvious customary handshake that was taught to her by some foreigners from another land, beyond Foggycap. A gentle and kind gesture, that was best taken with a kind hand.

Egil took her hand and gave a firm handshake, although it was not the custom of his homeland, he hand learned it in his travels. "Pleased to meet you" he said the perfunctory words. "Oh a mushroom kingdoms
, rumours, I have heard. Of a land beyond the border of Dreams, where the chairs of toads walk among men. For a fantasy of idle minds I took it, but here I see that it must be true. Tell me, what brings you here, so far from your homeland?"
