Contraception in YN

Postby Vonum » Sun Jan 28, 2024 3:45 pm

Sex: A topic that is taken up very rarely. Perhaps because it's a PG-13 Site. But, while related on the topic, but not completely, we are going to talk about your Nation's views on Contraception.

Is it allowed? Are some allowed, but others aren't? Or is there a main factor as to why they are banned?

For example, Female condoms and other feminine contraception that goes inside the woman are banned because the religious teaching of 'A woman is impure if anything but a trustworthy man enters her' makes it immoral, not necessarily impure though. This was for infection. Vonum is secular nowadays, and this is one of the rules they are revisiting.

In my country there is sex ed in school and anticonceptives as condoms are easy to buy in chemistries and supermarkets. For pills you can buy them in chemistries an ask them to a ginecologist for prescription.
The day after pill can be obtained in medical centres as urgency
On the other hand abortion is not considered an anticonceptive. Is restricted but offered by the ICS our public Health Agency. But is only free in certain cases as if the mother life is at risk, the phoetus has malformations or rape.

Considering that most (I.E ones that allow childbirth) sex is banned outside specific breeding programs, they are technically not banned, but rarely used.

Please note: Races that are allied with the Hivemind but are not directly inside (I.E Scaercoins and Skrelaxians), are allowed sex outside said breeding programs, contraceptives are much more used.

When considering Arembolia, contraceptives are encouraged. Lady Hunter wishes to keep the population within a reasonable level, though with a slight hike. Men are more advertised to with contraceptives, as per the matriarchal structure.

The Tsardom of Jugoslavia has been described as having a government policy of "Active pro-natalism," desiring a high birth rate as the means of continuing population growth and thus continuing economic growth as well as a number of benefits to both economic and cultural health. It thus is rather bearish on contraception, but understands that the political realities of the day require more nuanced and limited incentives rather than prohibition.

Barrier Contraception is legal for mass sale, but subject to a 50% Special Consumption Tax. Non-abortive emergency contraceptive pills (Plan B) are likewise legal but subject to a whopping 600% Special Consumption Tax. Longer term contraception in the form of injections, IUDs and Sterilization tend to require the detected likelihood of an enhanced medical risk in a future pregnancy.

The pharmaceutical regulations around the daily contraceptive pill have fluctuated over the years. It is currently legal, but not covered by public option pharmaceutical insurance, and subject to a 200% Special Consumption tax.

Abortion for contraceptive motives is illegal, with only a "life of mother" exception existing in the law.

In contrast to the extra taxes on contraception, considerable and exponentially stacking child tax credits exist within the law to encourage and support parenthood, as well as a variety of other social programs for children in low or even middle-income families.

Despite all this, there are some notable exceptions. The military has consistently issued a free "condom ration" to active duty personnel since 1908 for anti-disease reasons. By law, the packaging for these military condoms is required to list the criminal penalties under military, civil and international law for sexual warcrimes, and to state that all soldiers are mandated reporters for incidences thereof. Some of the Secular Universities also have programs, but these must eat the tax cost for themselves, rather than having an exception from it as the military does.

Most contraceptives are either free or heavily subsidised and people are encouraged to use them.

Abortion laws are much stricter: Unless you were raped, or there is a proven risk to the health of the mother, or the child is likely to have severe genetic defects, then abortion is not legal.

The Free City encourages the use of contraception amongst its residents. Procedures, devices and implants are provided by hospitals. Hormones and barriers are sold by drugstores and supermarkets. Medical professionals are required to impart advice, do procedures and prescribe items upon request. Pharmacists and retailers are obliged to dispense advice and items upon request.

The Countesian The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency groups contraception into four categories

1. Hormonal Contraception (Contraceptive pill, patches, injection, hormonal implant, morning after pill)
2. Barrier Contraception (Condoms, diaphragms, and cervical caps)
3. Intrauterine Contraception ( Both hormonal and non-hormonal IUDs)
3. Medical Contraception (Sterilization)

Any product approved by the MHRA is legal.

Abortion is not considered a contraceptive method. However abortions are illegal on fetuses aged 10 weeks and older with exceptions made on the grounds of rape, incest, quality of life or when the pregnancy poses a risk to the mothers survival.

In Hispaniola, contraception has been banned in the country since 1951, to combat the population losses suffered in the Fifth Hispano-Lusitanian War where a significant portion of the countries young male population had been conscripted and killed in battle. When the first birth control pill is invented in 1960 it sparks a debate over contraception in the country.

As a nation that has existed for millennia, we have noticed that the amount of contraception a nation allows is directly correlative to the speed of which that nation is either absorbed from without or within. While we support every other nation in existence using contraception...the more, the better for us...the Most Serene Republic of Kaiserholt shall never legalize contraception for citizens.

Contraception for non-citizens or slaves? Well, that's another matter.

Contraception is lawful in TurtleShroom because it prevents abortions.

In most fiefs, Parishes, and realms, the law prohibits the sale of contraception to anyone who is not married. Four realms, the Ecumenical Prince-Bishopric, the Parish of Axebundle, the Parish of Haizsylvania, and the former Parish of the Wall (which has since been dissolved), banned contraception outright. One Parish, the Neo-Tsao Dominion, allows contraceptives to be sold without proof of marriage. On the national level, deference is made to the Parishional level, and the Crown does not interfere in interstate trafficking of contraceptives. In both cases, non-humans capable of sexual reproduction are, for the purposes of contraceptives designed for their use, regulated the same way.

Abortion cannot be used as contraception in TS law: elective abortion is considered an act of murder. Medicines which deliberately and intentionally cause a miscarriage or kill a conceived embryo that has implanted into the mother. In oviporous animals, the egg, once laid, is given the same protections as the infants of creatures that give live birth.

Contraception is completely illegal, as having sex is seen as exclusively for reproduction. Having pleasure during sex is fine, but having sex for pleasure is illegal. The only time contraceptives are legal are:
-Rape
-Fetal deformations (e.g. Down Syndrome)
-If the mother’s life is threatened

As Siluvia is a confederacy, state laws vary, even on topics where the entire Confederacy is in agreement.

All eleven Siluvian states prohibit contraception, but the penalty varies widely. Some states only take action against illegal importation or production, while others have a possession charge, where the penalty may be fines or corporal punishment.

Abortion is considered murder in all eleven states, and is therefore punishable by death. Some states have limited exceptions, e. g. where the mother’s life is in danger.

In Vendellamoore, although we are a Lutheran nation, we hold to the Roman Catholic stance, which forbids all use of contraception, including condoms, pills, and spermicides. The government has a department called The Department of Natural Family and Sexual Relations. It promotes and educates the populace on Natural Family Planning, as well as educating them about sexual and family matters.

Because of the contraception and abortion ban, casual sex and promiscuity have been in rapid decline. Although the government does not take any action against those caught in sexual relationships outside of marriage, possession and distribution of contraceptives is a Þ500 fine, and possession or distribution of aborticides is a years imprisonment.

Further, those within marriage may not use contraceptives or aborticides, under the same penalties above. Natural Family Planning is the only acceptable way of preventing pregnancy.

Contraception is legal in the Democratic States of Toin on paper, but doctors frequently see themselves as on the moral higher ground and there have been stories of doctors refusing to carry out tubal ligation procedures, "encouraging" female patients to re-consider whether or not they want to have kids in the future, as the procedure, while theoretically it can be reversed, is generally regarded as being a permanent procedure. The Government has tried to address the issue by allowing doctors to refuse to carry out vasectomies, tubal ligations, or abortions, but they are required to give out the contact information of a doctor who will do those procedures. The issue still continues to persist.

Abortion is also legal on the federal level at all stages in pregnancy, but before 13 March 2023, it was legal at any stage only in the states of Goldpines and Anchorton, with all other states and the three federally administered territories permitting abortion only if the life of the mother was endangered or there was a risk of physical or anticipated severe mental or severe developmental fetal impairments. Due to their status as semi-independent entities with the ability to pass laws in violation of even the Constitution, indigenous tribes frequently passed laws allowing abortions and a few went so far as to establish clinics for non-indigenous women. The right to abortion is not presently a constitutionally protected right, however, nor is it protected by the Supreme Court like Roe v. Wade in the United States was, meaning Parliament can, at any time, repeal the law and remove access to abortion to all women on the federal level. Norther, a Constitution Party state, already passed a trigger law early this year that would immediately ban abortion if the Abortion Act was revoked.

In essence, while access to contraception as well as abortion is legal in Toin and widely available, women have been known to encounter problems with getting access to abortion or contraceptives.

Contraception is somewhat contentious in the Commonwealth. While it is commonly agreed upon that condoms are necessary for health reasons as well as contraceptive ones, other forms range in acceptance. While no form of contraception is illegal at the highest level in the Commonwealth, things like female birth control pills and Plan-B pills are somewhat more controversial, with some Provinces attempting to render them unable for purchase and there is a push among more conservative members of the Commonwealth to make these pills uncovered by the National Health Service and force women to buy these items out of pocket with more extreme elements endeavoring to make these contraceptives completely illegal.

At the most extreme end is the debate around abortion, which mirrors the debate around pill contraceptives while also being a more seriously charged topic.
