Should the US ask for International Aid for Oil Spill?

Postby Tsa-la-gi Nation » Thu Jun 03, 2010 4:33 pm

It's day 45 of the worst enviromental disaster in US history. It's estimated that over 500,000 gallons of oil are entering the gulf a day & over 22,500,000 gallons of oil is already in the gulf thus far. It has also been forcasted that this year's hurricane season might be above average. The US averages 11 named storms, 6 of that average hurricanes, and 2 if the 6 major hurricanes. Needless to say if a hurricane crosses the oil spill & comes ashore, the american wetlands will suffer much worse than they already are. The US is almost always involved with international aid to other countrys durring disasters all around the world. Is it time that we ask for the world's help in cleaning up the gulf, before it's too late? What do you think?

Note. you may have to search a little on these sights for the specific artical mentioned, but it shouldn't be hard at all.

No. It would be extremely embarrassing too.
The most 'powerful' and 'richest' country asking for aid would mean that the world is really in a terrible state.

Nah, we don't need it, and whatever funds other nations have can be better spent in disaster areas of less fortunate nations, or their own people.

No, we don't need international aid...We need domestic aid, we need Obama to grow a pair and tell BP where they can stick it.

No. We have more than enough resources to handle this problem on our own.

Absolutely, as we are evidently incapable of fixing this problem currently.

It's simple really, you wait for the deposit to run out then it's no longer leaking!

We should get aid from one country only, Russia, reason? They've had huge leaks like this before they know how to handle them. Nuclear Weapons. It worked for their Natural Gas wells it should work fo our oil well.

But it's not just about the ability to get the oil out, it's also becoming an issue of getting the oil out before a hurricane makes things alot worse on the shores. There is also worry that it will enter the atlanic gulf stream, which brings a whole new set of enviromental issues.

When did they detonate nukes for that?

Yeah, but, somehow "Vintage USSR Propaganda" isn't all that convincing to me, especially considering Russia's track record with Nuclear devices, :?

I'm not talking about help in plugging the well as much as help cleaning up all the oil already in the gulf. Do you think we need more manpower? The gallons per day estimates & how it will spread are mind blowing.

Well how it works is you detonate the device and the blast pushes the rock together at the leak.

They have an excellent record with nuclear devices, they have a miserble record of keeping track of them.

The well was pretty far out in the gulf, I don't think any radiation would really reach you.

Yeah, you say that now, then we have kids with webbed feet and all that. If we really have to do something like that, let's just use a big conventional bomb instead.
