Format: With 42 teams, we will have seven groups of six. The top two per group will make the playoffs, as well as the next best two teams. Group winners will be seeded 1-7; 2nd place teams will be seeded 8-14; and third place teams will be seeded 15 and 16.

Tiebreakers: H2H Record, H2H Point Differential, Overall Point Differential, Tiebreaker game.

Here are the steps that are recommended for participation:
First: Create a roster. This will get you a roster bonus. Not all rosters get the same bonus, though, as some are made to be real fancy and look like a ton of time and effort was spent in preparing it. They will get the higher roster bonus. But, if all you want to do is list a bunch of names, you will still get something.

Here is a look at some rosters that were posted in the last IBC: Example 1; Example 2; Example 3

Then: Roleplay, roleplay, roleplay. You can have success here as a first time nation, but you have to work for it, too. There are many different ways to RP, find something that works for you, and have fun!

Within the roster, many people also provide descriptive information about their home stadiums. Half of your qualifying games will be played within your country, and this a great chance to showcase your venues to the world.

Be advised that there is a roster penalty that will be assessed for nations that do not provide one. More on that can be found in our bid.

IMPORTANT: When creating a roster, you should include the following information and the specific corresponding answer for your nation. This is important, because the person who roleplays the game first is the one who determines how a score is arrived at (assuming they have roleplayed a game summary). The answers to these questions are whether or not they are able to do the following things concerning your nation.

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Yes/No
Assign other stats (e.g. rebounds, assists): Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Eject my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No

What this means:
Choose my scorers- In basketball, you really really should. But technically, you don't have to. Most will answer yes and grumble inside when they see a no.
Assign other stats (e.g. rebounds, assists): Should be self-explanatory, but feel free to ask for clarity if needed.
RP injuries to my players: This allows an opponent to say a player (or more) of yours got hurt. A common answer to this can be: "Yes, but only say they were hurt".
Godmod injuries to my players: Takes the above to an extreme.
Eject my players: Should be self-explanatory, but feel free to ask for clarity if needed.
Godmod other events: Saying yes allows for crazy things to happen, such as the opponent suddenly became 60 feet tall and could not be stopped. Or something else like, fans ran onto the court and torched down one of the baskets. You don't have to do this type of thing, but if it interests you, selecting yes allows for the opportunity.

CASSADAIGUA TRAVEL GUIDE

The Cassadaigua Board of Tourism would like to welcome you to our great nation for the 39th International Basketball Championships

Many of you are here to support your nation that will be playing their games here in Cassadaigua, but there will additionally be many that come here as a neutral fan, simply to enjoy this great competition. You may be here to enjoy basketball, but there is so much more that you can do in Cassadaigua. This guide will provide information that will help you get the most of your visit, so that you can leave happy no matter what the ending result of your nation’s fate becomes in the tournament.

Part I: About Cassadaigua

1)Firstly, where is Cassadaigua and what is the best way to get here?

Cassadaigua is located in the region of Rushmore, and more specifically south-central Rushmore.

The best recommendation to get here is to fly in, unless you are from nearby in Rushmore, you may just want to drive or take a train. All Cassadagan cities have a major airport, and the nation has an advanced rail system as well. If you insisted on traveling by sea, there are some easily attainable port cities to make it very convenient, but we suggest flying in.

2) Will I be safe? What is crime like?

Cassadaigua is no more or no less safe than any other nation. During any sporting competition, you can confidently expect and enjoy world class security to ensure your utmost enjoyment at the games and the communities in which they are taking part. The security presence will be noticeable throughout, but also have been highly trained in these situations, so they will not bear an overwhelming or intimidating presence. If one is intimidated by it, then they were probably planning on doing something wrong in the first place.

In recent years, the Matriarchy has seen improvements in gender equality. Organizations such as MEN (Male Equality Now) have peacefully been successful in narrowing the gap. At this time, therefore, protests are not occurring.

3) Tell me more about your female-dominated society. Are male tourists safe?

Cassadaigua’s society is different than what is seen throughout most of the world. In our nation, the female is the dominant gender and is superior to the male. This should not be surprising if you have followed our own national sport teams in even the slightest of ways. There are some groups who feel that men are greatly oppressed in our nation, but that is not really the case. If you are a man, and you are visiting Cassadaigua, as long as you are aware of our somewhat different culture, you should not have a tough time fitting in. After all, Cassadagan men that play by the rules here and respect their role can be very successful themselves. As long as you respect our culture, you should be fine while you are here. If you act disrespectful, then don’t be surprised if you are soon put in your place. You are expected to follow all Cassadagan laws, even if it is not a law in your own country.

4) I’ve been to nations that have talking ponies, or banned cars, or taxes on every little thing. Should I expect anything like this?

Cassadagans love horses, but there are no talking ponies here. At least not that we know of. If we have any sentient immigrants from nations like Equestrian States, they keep a very low profile. Cars are very much a way of life, and our taxes aren’t anything out of the ordinary, and if anything are a little lower than average. Cassadaigua is a modern, economic powerhouse. There are no unusual factors associated with the country, other than the gender differences.

Socially, Cassadaigua is open to members of all faiths, and we respect your right to worship your respective deity in the way you see fit; or to not worship one at all. Homosexuality is accepted in the country, though we can’t promise that some random drunk in the stands or on the streets won’t make offensive comments.

As far as drinking is concerned, the legal age is 18, though many get away with underage drinking as it is not as aggressively policed as it may be in other lands. However, do not drink and drive. If you are caught, you will have a greater jail sentence then you might be expecting, and if you kill anyone by drunk driving, you will receive the death penalty.

Smoking anywhere in public is banned, but legal in your own home. This applies to both cigarettes and marijuana. All other recreational drugs are banned.

Part II: Host Cities

CONCORD HEIGHTS

Concord Heights is the capital of Cassadaigua and hosted many international championships in the past. The city, which is also the most populous in the country, has a lot that one can do, whether sports themed, or not. Chances are, you are coming here for sports, so feel free to visit the Cassadaigua National Sports Hall of Fame. Here you will learn the stories of the legends of Cassadagan sport, including those who have their numbers retired from the soccer team on monument wall in the north end zone of the stadium (the concept here is like Monument Park at Yankee Stadium). While at the Hall of Fame, you can also learn about other Cassadagan legends and earn new or greater appreciation for those who helped us become the first nation to win a title in the five greatest sports in the World.

Those wishing to do something non-sports themed can find additional museums across the city, including the national museum which pays homage to the past leaders of the nation. You can also take a guided tour of the grounds of the Palace itself where the Queen resides, though access to the Palace itself is not open to the public. The city is also home to prestigious learning institutions, such as the University of Concord Heights.

Venue: Dagan Airways Arena, Capacity 22,027

BRATTLEBORO

Brattleboro was not always a large city, became that way with the rise of the technological age. The prestigious Brattleboro Technical Insitute played a big part of that, and graduates remained committed to the area. People from Brattleboro are affectionately referred to as, “Brats”. For volleyball, however, you will be at the Brattleboro Regional Transit Arena in the city and utilize the public transit system that was modernized by the entity from Banija.

The city these days has something for everyone, but it does not try to hide the fact that it caters more to the younger demographics then it does older citizens.

Venue- RTC Arena, Capacity 18,550

GRANDE MOUNTAIN

Grande Mountain is a big city and a deserving one, but it also does not have a great reputation throughout the matriarchy due to some disturbing gender rights issues that took place here in the past. In fairness to the city, a lot of that is so long ago that it should not even be mentioned anymore, but it may have made bigger Cassadagan entities hesitant on sponsoring the facility.

The city gets its name due to the fact that it is in the north-central mountainous portion of the nation. It might not be the season right now, but feel free to come back during the wintertime to enjoy the fantastic skiing opportunities here! This is the city where Male Equality Now keeps its headquarters, so you could always pay them a visit if you want to learn more about their recent accomplishments and future initiatives.

Venue- Seth Johnson Arena, Capacity 19,426

NEW LAKELAND

The city of New Lakeland was annexed by Cassadaigua a while ago, so it did not initially hold Cassadagan values. Because of that, there was always gender equality in the city. However, as it has become assimilated into our culture, that has changed slightly. Regardless, if you wanted to go somewhere in Cassadaigua that did not really feel like Cassadaigua, this was the place for you. It can be a difficult city to describe, because those that live here and the overall northwestern part of the country take pride in their heritage, but at the same time will bleed pink just like anyone else here does in terms of supporting the national team. Recently, teams from the city have been very successful.

Venue- Stephanie H. Wiseman Arena, Capacity 20,580

Kronbia men's national basketball team

Overview

Baseball is the most popular sport in the Republic of Kronbia today. Republic of Kronbia has competitions for basketball, the league (Liga de Kronbia de Baloncesto-LKB) and the cup (Copa Kronbia), There are many young players playing basketball in a competition dedicated to universities. Competitions are also organized for students in secondary schools at every the city.

History

The sport of basketball arrived in the island in 1935, where a group of young people from the rich sons returning from Europe founded a team called El Caballeros Blancos (current Atletico San Rimo) in San Rimo, and then founded a group of young people in the capital A team called El Halcones (the current Deportivo de Halcon), the teams played friendly exhibition matches to spread the game in the cities, after their match in Costa de Palmeras, a group of sons of fishermen (as the Costa de Palmeras was a small fishermen’s city) thought of establishing their own team, and the same thing happened with the railway workers (Locomotora de Kronbia) They decided to establish their own team, in 1936 the four team captains met and decided to start a tournament under the name Copa Kronbia.
In 1938, the government established the Kronbian basketball Federation (Federacion de baloncesto de Kronbia) to organize basketball competitions and team matters.

The tournament continued with the change of the names of the teams and the details of the tournament until 1982, when it was decided to establish a professional league (Liga de Kronbia de Baloncesto-LKB) with a different system, and the cup championship (Copa Kronbia) continues also. To this day, the championship continues to entertain the basketball fans in the island and the world.

Part 0 / Roster – Second Nature to everything else, and that includes basketball as well! Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton will look over us all, once again.

Image

IBC 38 was a fantastic season for Gwen's Angels, by all accounts. They won all of the matches in their group, went on to the playoffs and brackets, utterly dominating and winning against the teams left, right, and centre. The Angels were sensational, a force to be reckoned with, and it seems like – perhaps in part thanks to their heights or just their really, really offensive plays (while trying their best not to foul anyone in the process, unintentionally let alone intentionally) – basketball is Gwen's Angels domain now, much to the cheers, jubilations, and massive celebrations all over Valentine Z as the IBC viewership climbed up to all-time highs, along with ratings nearing a perfect 10. Of course, with any serviceable story of a basketball team, there is bound to be an elephant-sized cat in the room. For Gwen's Angels, it would be none other than Quebec and Shingoryeo's Grim Reapers. The first match, for all intents and purposes, went rather well, with 81–89 and the win going to Gwen's Angels. It was cutting it close, but considering the founded reputation and skill of the Grim Reapers, the Valentians were lucky to get that victory.

And that was perhaps the only one that they have gotten against them. The next match saw the Angels losing out ever so slightly with 84–78, and for all intents and purposes, it was not that big of a deal and a gap. After all, they still have another round to go for. The finals, however, saw the Angels falling out of the sky with such an impact, unrecoverable to the point of no return. With a 29 point difference, the Valentians lost the game, but they took it all in stride, perhaps due to the fact that for one, they went all the way through and have won against every other team, and even against the likes of The Grim Reapers, they managed a 1–2 instead of a 0–3. On top of that, getting to be second and getting the silver medals (or trophy) in the international event was something to behold, and the Valentians have been joyous over it all things considered. For this season, of course, they are coming back with a much more renewed energy, one that Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton would see them to it. While NSSCRA 15 would only come to them the following year, time is irrelevant to someone such as Gwen herself, promising to be together with the team and help them out – while also involving in interdimensional and multiversal shenanigans (which will NOT affect the sporting nations). This time, the Angels have a mix of ladies and gentlemen as the main players.

* The heights shall not negatively impact the venues, and the general OOC issues and concerns. They are mostly to show off the heights of the Valentians, and they have the tech-magic to shrink themselves down accordingly to make it a fair play. Outside of matches, use 2.66x values. Inside matches, use 1.00x value.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Yes
Assign other stats (e.g. rebounds, assists): Yes
RP injuries to my players: No career-ending ones.
Godmod injuries to my players: No career-ending ones.
Eject my players: No
Godmod other events: Yes, but please do ask me first beforehand though!

Style modifier: +5.00 (Max Offensive).

Me, a fascist?! They think so; in their words: "Far-left neo-Valentinist party “Democratic” finally banned after investigations find that it sponsored anti-Selanese movements overseas."

THE RALSALIEN ORDER BASKETBALL TEAM

The Ralsalien Order (or simply Ralsalin) sends a delegation to it's first international sports competition in the NS world. There are almost no causes for pride and happiness in the not so prosperous country that is also a puppet of the Kanmer Empire, so Grandmaster Dheidhein I Gunfi is hoping that at least participation in the international competition would give the Order at least a little joy.

After a long time in the shadows, the Unity Centre in Riverside is back and ready to host #6 Hoops-Jags. The Unity Centre is an icon of TJUN-ian basketball, especially after the upset over Valanora a long time ago. While it isn't the solo host of TJUN-ian Basketball anymore, it is still a legendary arena and to see it return to prominence again will make a lot of people happy.

It has been a long time coming but finally, International Basketball finds itself in the NAU Zone for the very first time. Located within The Gardens, where other major sports call home in the NAU, Liberty Arena is the main indoor arena of New Washington and the NAU and with the capacity to boot. It was built ready for hosting games at IBC35, but has waited 10 years to finally welcome the Hoops-Jags home. Expect a passionate crowd, as the Amerikans usually are...just don't throw drinks at the players, would ya?

Arenas
Aminey Court Central (2500)
Ciudad Miradela (3150)

Centre
Juvi Tanamula (30, M, left, 204 cm, 108 kg) Gehrenna Lions C
Regan yGorllaenarsan (28, M, right, 197 cm, 99 kg) Llandy Locals C
Muzasahuth Slunakidhen (24, M, right, 195 cm, 96 kg) Aubury Dynamos C

Tanamula returns as the key centre, great at the playmaking and visionary side of things - even if a centre is mostly constrained to a certain part of the court. yGorllaenarsan also returns, as a brawling workhorse, and Slunakidhen is the new option, much more of a one-on-one player less tied down to the team-vs-team battle. Tanamula will play as much as possible, the Lions' C being one of the two or three best players in Ko-oren.

Power Forward
Buford Oldlin (20, M, right, 219 cm, 130 kg) Ansonville City Athletic PF
Uvafena Uhpisohthen (24, F, right, 173 cm, 67 kg) Greencaster Central PF
Guendolina Canton (30, F, right, 176 cm, 71 kg) Ferrovente Tazers PF

Arguably the weakest position, saved by newbie Oldlin, representing a team from outside the 'old 12' as well as the 'new 12' - namely a team from the 'other 24'. Oldlin and Uhpisohthen are both great teammates, a side of the game often ignored by Ko-orenites, motivating and rallying their squads to greater heights. Canton is the 'old guard' now, the 30-year old no longer looked at as a starting option but as a tenacious, annoying player still very much in the mix.

Small Forward
Fidel Varon (28, M, right, 191 cm, 91 kg) Ferrovente Tazers SF
Alegonu Sarmazenindhen (26, F, right, 178 cm, 69 kg) Mayara Blues SF
Nicolaas Valkenvlier (26, M, right, 183 cm, 85 kg) Sterrenwolde Eagles SF
Amaury Bouthillier (29, M, right, 196 cm, 97 kg) Etouille Energie SF

Four utility options, with Varon clearly a step above the rest. Varon is fast and physical, Sarmazenindhen is simply consistent - highly valued - while Valkenvlier and Bouthillier are playmakers looking for a mismatch to exploit and go on weird solo adventures. Valkenvlier is the only one from a non-top 24 club (in fact, the only one from a non 'old-12' team) and might have a bit of a chip on his shoulder. All are decent defensive options but there can be a height mismatch with their direct opponents.

Shooting Guard
Willie Manisle (25, M, right, 175 cm, 80 kg) Idyllwild Circle SG
Ignace Raymon (27, M, right, 198 cm, 106 kg) Anarcourt Railways SG
Tsheumai Bwaudhen (21, F, right, 176 cm, 76 kg) Etouille Energie SG

More utility options here - Manisle is only marginally ahead of the rest and we're probably not looking for the most insane clutch stuff from these three, but they're valuable members of the team, with Manisle a stable factor, Raymon a tough defender, and Bwaudhen a mostly creative player looking to pass where possible.

Point Guard
Emuk Arzhendin (28, M, right, 176 cm, 96 kg) Senoren Diamonds PG
Aimuci Avobea (20, M, right, 198 cm, 95 kg) Launott Winter PG
Xiana Lazo (26, F, right, 182 cm, 79 kg) Montelo Snipers PG

Arzhendin is easily the most talented player in the archipelago, and we almost had to go without him in the basketball arena. The Diamonds' star has a mean streak and something to prove on top of his capable leadership, with Avobea and Lazo selected for depth and Avobea's unpredictability and Lazo's technique.

After the implosion of the Ko-orenite Basketball League, the sport (barely) survived on small courts in big cities. Twelve clubs have emerged in a new national league, representing three urban areas. The Capital Cities (Maethoru, Mayara, Gehrenna, Senoren), Aminey (Lunay, Ouleux, Couziers/Linieux, Étouille - but Étouille and Linieux are not within Aminey by a bit), and Santa Teresa (Miradela, Montelo, Serramonte - and nearby Ferrovente). While they might not be underdogs in literally every game, the rankings pretend like this team has a lot more individual skill than it actually has. The strength of the positions is something like PG > SF/PF > (gap) > C > SG, factoring in the backups more than the starters, as we've got one class player at each position at least. Even then, the skill of the PG(s) is far more than C and SG. This is mostly solved by having players play at different positions - because how rigid are basketball positions anyway - and depending on the configuration there might be one extra PG leading to a more technical team shooting from distance or an extra forward leading to a bit more physical play, closer to the basket, relying on a high FG% and grabbing rebounds.

The league has since expanded to 48 teams - by far the largest in Ko-oren - with the new players on the new teams slowly breaking through into the NT. The original twelve outmuscle the rest by a mile - usually - so the good players gravitate towards that group of teams. Non-original teams with good programs are Idyllwild Circle, Greencaster Central, Arakura Tower, Schemerdrecht South, Straudum Power, the Vurusen Floramancers, and two Willowbourne teams: Centrals, and Circle. One original team clearly lags behind the rest: the Ouleux Sapphires don't seem to have the same attraction as the other Cote Austral teams.

Chromatika National Basketball Team
World Rank: 13
Nickname: The Penguins
Coach: Jaudin Negore (Age: 55)
Assistant Coach: Milek Killik (Age: 52)
Home Venue: FRIArena, Felswyr, Mountain District (Cap. 35,000)

Basketball in Chromatika has been going through some growing pains. An inability to agree upon a Collective Bargaining Agreement has put a hold on the sport professionally for two years, leading to the owners walking away from the CBA altogether. There is some talk about a reboot of the league in the time to come, but this change has led to more of the established names in the sport calling it quits. This results in a very greenhorn roster, and Jaudin Negore will have his hands full in trying to get this team to play together for the first time.

STARTERS
PG Kristie Shaddon-Ysenov, CAPTAIN

The days of Shaddon-Ysenov hiding behind Park and Lia are over. This team now needs her to lead from the front, and she seems ready to step up. Great off the offensive glass, a mean midrange jumper, and possessing ever-prowling eyes, she's electric. She's added pinpoint assists to her game, and though there hasn't been professional ball for a while, all the signs point to her being ready to start taking over the leadership of this team. They will need her to do well, as there are three first-time starters in this lineup.

SG Kim Hae-Ri

It's not easy to take over for a legend like Lia Xiu, but with the veteran suffering a forearm injury to her shooting hand just three months ago, Kim steps into this role. She's more of a pure shooter, lacking on the defensive side of the game, but has the capability to take over on the scoreboard. Quick, unafraid of drawing contact, and great at the free throw line, she also possesses a great corner three from the left hand side. A bit of an uncut gem, but a work in progress, for certain.

SF Ishani Hauntzer

An assist-first player whose calling card is defense, Hauntzer's ideal night is having double digits in rebounds, assists, and steals or blocks. With solid hops, the ability to read the opposition, get in lanes, and contest the ball at the net without drawing fouls, Hauntzer just needs to get better at being a solid enough outlet on the offensive side of the ball to become an actual star.

PF Anton Vatnav

A season veteran by this point, Vatnav is the best three-point shooter in Chromatika. His sweet spot is from the left side, but when he gets hot, he can single-handedly change the tempo of a game. His consistency in how often he hits the big shots is what sets him apart from the rest. Now, he'll need to have the hot hand to help Shaddon-Ysenov run the team.

C Annelise Friar

The best Center to graduate from the Chromatik Collegiate System in years, Friar is a player built in Maude Zwaheil's mold. A solid rebounder and good at shot-blocking as well, Friar also has a sweet midrange jumper that led to scoring in the high teens per game. Her weakness is her inexperience in big games, but there is no denying the potential that she has at a young age of twenty-two.

BENCH
PG Zachary Chesevsky

An all-rounder who is a threat for a triple-double every time he is on the court, Chesevsky's rise has been overshadowed by Shaddon-Ysenov's potential and brilliance. If she falters, or if the team needs a different kind of presence, he's available. The best part? He knows how to remain unnoticed and play for the team.

SG Maïté Blaise

The fastest player on the team who can blow past the opposition for easy buckets, she's good at using the same speed to get back on defense, too. Has great hand skills, the ability to use her body to get in the way, and can surprise with bunches of points in stretches.

SF Annick LaRue

A shooting specialist, LaRue can add another pure sniper to the court who can let it fly from almost any range. She's also decent at getting the ball to the open man in case she doesn't have the clearest of shots, but if you need a barrage of three pointers, she's the one to do it.

PF Michaelangelo Chouster

A more defensive option, Chouster doesn't score much, but excels in removing the biggest threat from the opposition.

C Ghyslaine De Guignes

More of an offensive Center who's good off the glass, shooting from range, and looking for the assist. Still decent in defense, but Friar is far better at that.

RESERVES

G Marina Niedenthal

A solid defender who gets in the way of the opposition. A purely defensive substitution.

F Julius Schwertfeger

Solid dribbling skills, decent passing skills, and can shoot from anywhere on the court. A liability on defense.

Strategy:
The Chromatik Team focuses on solid ball-handling and clean transition play, with an emphasis on always running the clock down whenever possible. This means that there aren't as many fast breaks, instead focusing on time of possession and making every possession count. They play a zone on defense, and are rather good at deflecting shots but not very good at causing turnovers. This team's tentative goal is to make the Quarterfinals.

Basketball is the 2nd most popular sport in VonHoolia behind Gridball. The international basketball team is made up of VBA players and players chosen in tryouts.

The International Basketball Championships Tournament 39 will be held at Emperor's Arean located in Coronasburg, VonHoolia. Coronasburg is the royal capital of VonHoolia. Many cities bid for the chance to host the tournament with the final 2 being Coronasburg and Christos, the federal capital. Coronasburg was chosen because of the lighter traffic.

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

All in all team take part in the ten World Cups, won 48 game and lost 47.

Team played in all-green (first kit) and all-white (second one).

National leader Vladimir Finn was again voted as coach of the team. Forthcoming IBC will be his seventh in row, Trolleborg basketball team under his guidance won 31 games and lost 28.

He announced following lineup:

Point Guards
Per Hagelstrom (29)
Karsten Sverdrup (28)

Shooting Guards
Torstein Hakken (30)
Kendall Torp (29)

Center
Morten Pesoglavec (28)
Hjelm Bratbakk (27)
Peter Helvig (26)

Power Forwards
Skovdal Henning (28)
Jesper Trond (27)

Small Forwards
Ruud Semper (28)
Roar Arnholm (27)
Jorgen Kroldrup (26)

Style –5

Team usually played fast-moving basketball while at the same time tended to avoid too much of tough fights and collisions. Head coaches in Trolleborg right now always try to find balance between beauty of the game and pragmatism, Vladimir Finn continue this line.

Home Arena
After extensive debate and vote by fans and specialists it was decided to play home games at a Torfinn Arena in Murnau, with a capacity of 17000 spectators.

Image

Arena known for it’s brilliant acustics, and has unofficial nickname connected with this, which was approximately translated as something like “roaring bowl”. In addition, stands are multi-tiered and planned with aim of put as much fans as possible as near to the action as practicable. Some people found close-to-field, almost overhanging, stands rather unpleasant, but builders of arena decide, that their design provides total immersion of game for spectators.

Arena located near the sea in a place with a rather spectacular view, and have good connection historical center, transport hubs and resort area futher to the south. Murnau is a second biggest town in the country, with lively fan scene, locals always fill their stadiums to the brim on all games of international level, and every team that put effort to play at all can count on their support.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Yes
Assign other stats (e.g. rebounds, assists): Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but I will decide how severe they are
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Eject my players: Yes, but after consultations with me
Godmod other events: No

Make changes at 3th December: find that my permission list does not match recommended one for this tournament and adjusted it accordingly

International Basketball Championship 39
Delaclava Phoenixes

General Information

About Delaclava: The United Republic of Delaclava is a massive democratic republic located in Sonnel, and consisting of a large mainland, numerous nearby island provinces and overseas territories, and the brand new mainframe. Delaclava is particularly notable for education and scientific development, advancement of culture and music, active lifestyles which see citizens frequently outdoors in public parks and natural forest and mountain areas, and a well-established public transportation system which connects all the diverse major cities and regions of the mainland. Isolation policies have been lifted completely only in the past several years, so modern Delaclava has a larger emphasis on national and regional cultures rather than international and global influences. Citizens have a large degree of personal freedom and expression, but within the framework of traditional social values which reinforce the structures of family and community.

About the program: The Delaclav national team was traditionally a consistent yet unimpressive presence in the early editions of the IBC, recording top-eight finishes at IBC5, IBC7, and IBC9. The Phoenixes also hosted the 7th edition. After returning to international play and putting together respectable qualifying performances in IBC29 and IBC30, the Phoenixes exploded in IBC31, compiling a 14-3 record en route to a silver medal in front of the home crowd, vaulting into the upper echelon of international basketball at a ranking of #4. The Phoenixes have also won a silver and two bronzes in the last three Atlantian Oceania Basketball Championships. After fizzling out of IBC32 and not participating in IBC33, the Phoenixes steadily built their way back to the top of the game in impressive fashion, going to the quarterfinals of IBC34, the semifinals and bronze medal of IBC35, and a heartbreaking yet competitive second silver medal in IBC36. Hotly contested contract issues held the Phoenixes out of IBC37, but they competed well in a top-16 finish in IBC38 and hope to build on that in this competition.

About the team: Delaclava teams emphasize pushing the pace at all times - the fast break, ball movement on the perimeter and through the top of the paint, finding shots early in the clock, and a full-court press on defense. Players are expected to give their maximum effort at all times - if they need a break, they will get subbed out for a few minutes until they are ready to push again. Despite the inclination towards speed and urgency, the tactics are patient enough that a fast break will not start without having properly secured the ball. When the three-point shooters are finding their stroke, this results in high-scoring affairs. Often, it instead means the Phoenixes have trouble with their accuracy from the field and fall behind early. Their strength therefore lies in continuing to push the pace and wear down the opposition so that they can find layups and easier shots in the transition as the game goes on.

Nimble seven-footer Przemyslaw Derda, noted equally for his on-court achievements and off-court escapades, once again leads this squad. The former All-Tournament team member and the father of Anna Voss' child is hoping to capitalize on the last bit of his prime and get a deep run out of this team. Perhaps more sentimentally, Delaclav legend and two-time IBC finalist Đorđe Zubić has announced that this tournament will be his last competition, domestic or international. Hoping against hope, could this team bring their elder statesman a miracle title? Derda's "sidepiece" Alarig Gouyet is expected to start again, as is Conor Fernandez, returning to the first five where he played in Delaclava's last run to the final. The Phoenixes see a changing of the (point) guard; with Feuz and Rybakov out, and a younger crop of talent developing, Iker Peralta will get the starting nod for perhaps the first and last time. Notable reserves include savvy veteran Sifiso Ntenga, talented big men Alex Lehtola and Maxime St-Hilaire, and wunderkinds Karol Batko and Wojciech Bogus.

DRAWKLAND NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM (NET CORPS)

CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 25
Runners-Up, International Basketball Championships 27
CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 28

Name: Net Corps
Colors: Black with Crimson trim
Denonyms: Drawkian or Drawkish, personal preference
TWENTY-FIRST IBC, Rank #11

Basketball is an avid sport in Drawkland, with huge cheering crowds and near-constantly playing pep bands the norm. If you've never been to a basketball game in Drawkland, you may want to bring a pair of earplugs. Or two. You'll need them.

As you may notice, the Drawkian team is pretty tall, as far as height goes. This is perfectly natural for Drawkians, as the national height average is 7'5" (they're not related to humans evolutionarily besides the shape and proportions and such). They also may seem like they're "middle-aged," but that's wrong. In fact, most professional Drawkian athletes don't retire until around the age of 50, since the average lifespan is around 150.

After having their best group stage in their history in IBC 24, the Net Corps went on to get annihilated in the Round of 16 for the fifth straight time (once by Royal Kingdom of Quebec, once by Vangaziland, once Abaja, once by Ceni, and once by Banija). Finally, they decided they weren't going to take no for an answer. A decade of playoff disappointment took a heel-turn as the Corps made an unprecedented run to the championship game. Drawkland won the game in convincing fashion to Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and finally claimed the title of IBC Champions.

While they lost in the semifinals of IBC 26 to the team they defeated in the previous semifinals, Newmanistan, they still had the skill to make a deep playoff run. And that they did, by making it to the finals of IBC 27 against Vangaziland. Unfortunately, Vangaziland was the outright better squad and took the series in two straight games. The Net Corps was far from out of the mix, though. Despite the short format and taking a loss in the group stage, Drawkland stormed through the IBC 28 playoffs and defeated Vangaziland by 30 points in the final to capture their second title. Drawkland hoped to go back-to-back with IBC 29, but fell short in overtime to Banija in the semifinals.

The IBC 30 campaign featured a first for the Net Corps ... a quarterfinal loss. This kicked off a new era in Net Corps history, one of floundering in the playoffs. In IBC 31, Drawkland went 2-2 in the second group stage, and had to settle for a "13th place win" against Quebec in the consolation playoffs. IBC 32 was yet another quarterfinal loss, this one against Valanora. Finally, in IBC 33, the Corps did something they hadn't done since their first tournament in IBC 19 ... miss the playoffs entirely. With that, longtime coach Cody Morgan and his staff was shown the door, and the aging Net Corps was collectively given the boot.

Originally, DISC was going to hire a new coach and assemble a new squad from scratch. Then, some "genius" came up with a "better" idea: let the Elite Eleven have a shot! Their IBC 34 campaign went decently. They made it to the playoffs and won a game in the Round of 24 before falling in the next round to Hannasea. Still, their performance was decent enough, and DISC was satisfied. The Elite didn't want to return to a playing position, but a few of them said they'd be willing to stick around as coaches.

The "Elite Eleven as coaches" experiment somehow went better than expected. The new-look Corps didn't have a perfect return cycle, needing last-matchday miracles against Ranoria and Mytanija to advance from the first and second group stages, respectively. The Corps had finally returned to the quarterfinals, thanks in part to the second group stage "skipping" earlier playoff rounds. Once again the Corps would face Hannasea, and once again they would fall, this time by a heartbreaking last-second shot. With their hopes for a surprising playoff push dashed, they slid into 7th place in the classification playoff. All things considered, not a bad performance, but improvement, especially in the group stage, is a necessity going forward. DISC had enough of the Elite Eleven, and kicked them out of the basketball wing of the building.

Now it's a truly new coaching staff. However, this team as a whole hasn't made the steps that fans were hoping for. Sure, the Net Corps has made the playoffs relatively consistently, and even won a couple games, but ultimately this is not a squad that inspires confidence in fans or fear in opponents. While the "new" coaching staff, led by Vince Donaldson, approaches their third IBC cycle, they've churned up the roster a little bit, hoping to find a combination that'll finally return Drawkland to the top.

Postby Drawkland » Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:40 pm

OOC NOTE: This RP was originally posted for NSCAA 14. It has been reposted here as context for the RP line I plan to implement for this IBC. Thus, it probably shouldn't be graded for bonus. If you care enough to read, enjoy.

Drawkland basketball is dying.

Okay, let's be a little more realistic. When you compare the best Drawkian basketball players and teams to their peers from other top-level nations in basketball, the advantage consistently points to the opponent. It's not that Drawkian basketballers are bad, it's just that they're not good enough to do the things we've come to expect from years past. The NSCAA has been proof enough that this young generation doesn't have the stuff. The IBC is a different beast, yet still plagued by a similar issue.

The answer doesn't seem apparent. Changing up the Net Corps didn't do much. Throwing the Elite Eleven into the mix wasn't that big of a jolt, and removing them (halfway) was an equally futile exercise. Maybe those teams just need a little more time to build chemistry ... except fans are tired of seeing the same roster of retreads wearing black and red every cycle. Turnover is necessary. New blood is required. Still, it seems that throwing more "pretty good" players into the fire isn't going to fix something. We need a hero.

For a long time, Drawkland has been searching for that transcendant star. Most generations have that One Man who changes the debate from "who is the best player right now?" to "is THIS player the best of all time?" Drawkland hasn't had that for almost 30 years. There's plenty of superstars in the game, but none are The Man (or woman). For decades, Drawkians have longed for the one who was undoubtedly born to play basketball.

Now, midway through the NSCAA 14 season, an intriguing message was received from an retired talent scout in the mostly rural southeast peninsula, that being the territory of Ellzidan. Things are a little strange out there. Much of Drawkland is known to be a developed, futuristic society, but the Ellzidanet territory is filled with small communities and many people who choose a simpler lifestyle. Talent scouts rarely come this way, especially for basketball. Hard court gyms down there are generally tiny, humid boxes uncomfortable to inhabit, and the average level of play is nothing impressive. Sometimes football and especially soccer scouts will come by where the grass is natural and the air is clear to find diamonds in the rough, but not basketball.

Willis Doyle was a scout for thirty years for various organizations in the DBO. He choosed to live his life out in the aforementioned sticks, a quieter existence which he enjoyed. Still, he often attended local basketball games, as his love for the sport never diminished. He attended a seemingly innocuous season opener between his local high school and Reese County High School, a institution which boasted a whopping 367 students that year. It was there that Willis's eyes were opened, for Reese County was the home of a budding star.

The next hour was one of the greatest in Willis's life as a scout, even though he'd retired years ago. He pulled a scrap of paper from his wallet and began writing furiously. When he got home, he immediately penned this note, which he sent to a friend at the Shire-Port Tribune (arguably the biggest news publication in the territory). The next day, this note was found and shared among the sporting community like wildfire.

Rejoice, my friends, for I bring you tidings of great joy.
For many years, we have searched in vain for our savior, he or she who shall bring Drawkland basketball into the light once again.
I have come to tell you that this savior has been born. He lives and shoots among us.
Today he is merely a boy, but he will soon be a man. Whoever puts their faith in him will be rewarded with success.

This past night I witnessed him ply his trade on the hard wood in the jungles of Ellzidan.
He is strong, yet agile.
He is quick, yet powerful.
He is as accurate from 40 feet as he is from 4.
He invites contact, yet he avoids foul trouble.
He has unbreakable concentration, and a sixth sense for defense.
He fears no opponent.
He is a motor with infinite fuel.
He is an animal bred for this game.
For him, the ball is not equipment, but an extension of himself.
And thus I sing the praises of him.

Basil Thorne, from Reese County.

According to legend, these unforgiving lands were the birthplace of modern man, a new era in history.
Now this ground will be known as the birthplace of another era, the era of Thorne.
One day he shall take his throne, and every knee shall bow to his greatness.
Now, my only wish is to see this glorious day in Drawkian history before I return to dust.

With the divine as my witness,
Willis Doyle.

Obviously the tone of the message is what got so many people's attention. Within hours, professional and collegiate scouts had looked up the schedule of Reese County, and found that they had a game scheduled against Earldon High, a school in the Yokare Lake area. That was an Actual City that was Close To An Airport, so several scouts went there to see if the hype was real.

It was. Basil Thorne scored 50 points in three quarters. He proceeded to spend the last quarter of the game on the bench, whittling a chunk of wood he had taken off a dead tree in his yard that morning. One scout attempted to interview him before the Reese County team left.

"You're Basil Thorne, right? Has anybody ever talked to you about a future playing basketball?"

"Coach sez I'm purdy gud," Basil responded nonchalantly in the most disgustingly deep country accent ever heard. "I wasn't plannin' on it, quite frankleh. Got plenty ta do at the ol' homestead once I finish mah schoolin'."

"Mr. Thorne, you may be one of the best basketball players I've ever seen at this level, and I've been doing this for 20 years. I would like to talk to you again, if you'd be alright with that. Can I ask for your phone number?"

"Don't have any a' that 'round my place. Pa unplugged tha phone years ago."

"Um ... do you get mail? What's your address?"

"I suppose so. I do enjoy receivin letters now an' again. Here."

Within a week, Basil had already received a dozen scholarship offers from schools across the territory. It took him awhile to read through them, and he was quite disappointed with the boring letters. Very little conversation, and they were only asking him one question which he had little care to answer. No reason to write back ... but at least he had more material for his tinder box! It needed refilling anyhow.

Picking Up the Pieces
Part 1: The Deep End

It was never good to receive a phone call at 3AM.

As a woman who loved her sleep when she could get it, Kristie Shaddon-Ysenov always had her phone volume on when she slept. Only one other time in her life had she gotten a phone call at the middle of the night, and it was when she got the news that her Grandmother had passed from a heart attack. Ever since then, she had always had the fear of something else happening in the dead of night.

So, when her phone rang, Kristie was immediately awake with a start, a sense of dread creeping up her spine. She took a deep breath, steeled her nerves, and picked up.

"Kristie?" came the slightly-accented voice of Lia Xiu, her Penguins teammate and the heart and soul of Chromatik basketball since the exit of one Park Jung-Hyuk.

"Lia," she answered, noting a hint of pain in Lia's voice, "What's wrong?"

"I thought it'd be best if you heard this from me before you see all the news articles in the morning," began Lia, "I thought you of all people should get the whole story from me instead of the yarn that the Chromatik Sporting Council is going to spin to the media."

Now, the Penguins Point Guard was really on edge. "Are you all right?" she demanded, "Do you need any help?"

"I'm calling you from the ER, I'll live," answered Lia, a hint of a smile now in her voice, "I broke my wrist on my shooting hand, though, so I'll be out for a few months - including the entirety of the upcoming IBC."

Kristie sat on her bed in stunned silence, her mind racing at a hundred miles an hour.

"What?" she managed, "What happened?"

"What you're going to hear," Lia continued, "Is that I got in a car accident while driving in Chromia while with a friend. I just happen to have a friend who did get in a car wreck tonight so it's a good enough alibi. They've even gotten the Chromia Police Department to agree on the story for my benefit."

"A car accident?" Kristie asked, "Is the passenger that was in that car okay?"

"Yeah," Lia answered, "He's stable for now. As the one who's going to have to carry the Penguins this next tournament, though, I want you to know what really happened."

"Okay," Kristie responded, "I'll keep your secret. Tell me."

Kristie could hear Lia sigh.

"I have a younger sister named Ma Xiu. She's had a crazy ex that she dated for five years before letting go because he was toxic. I happened to be with her tonight - she's been staying with me since they broke up a month ago - and he came to her place, clearly intoxicated and belligerent. She tried her best to tell him to go away, but he started being violent. I couldn't stand it - I was in the other room to give them privacy - so I came to try to scare him off. Seeing me there just incensed him more, and he threw a punch at her."

"I - I'm so sorry that your sister had to go through that," Kristie managed.

"Long story short, I managed to get him to leave by giving him a bloody nose and a cut lip, but he managed to break the wrist on my shooting arm in the process. We're in the middle of trying to get a restraining order on him, but until we do, for her safety, this isn't going to be on the news. We've also got an undercover agent watching her at all times now, and I'm just going to stay with her for the time being."

"You're so brave," Kristie almost whispered, "You go take care of your sister."

"I'm sorry about this," Lia apologized, "I know that with Maude retiring and the new blood coming in, we were going to have to carry the team together. I'm afraid that it's just in your hands now."

"You take care of your own," Kristie said matter-of-factly, "I'll take care of Chromatik basketball."

With a promise to go see Lia soon, Kristie hung up, and did not go to sleep again that evening.

"I'll take care of Chromatik basketball," she had stated.

It was time to make that a reality.

Other Languages: Britonish, French
Uniform Colours: Red, Orange & White

General Information

While Britonisea regularly qualifies for the knock-out stages of basketball at the Olympic Games, its fair to say that Basketball Britonisea is not as successful and prominent as it could be. Like many sports in Britonisea, due its lack of international presence, the Britonish team suffers from playing well on an international level. The Games of the XVI Olympiad saw Britonisea win its first medal in basketball albeit 3x3. There is hope that one day the Britonish team could not only win gold in the main event but also do well in the International Basketball Championships where one could argue the standards are even higher.

Basketball Britonisea's permanent home is, like for many different sports, in Luton & Sports City. However, with a Basketball Arena that is of international standard in the middle of being built, the team has had to find other venues to host their home matches. In order to ensure that opportunities to watch basketball are spread across the country and accessible to all, Britonisea will be utilising three different arenas to host qualifiers for the Basketball Championships. Below is a list of arenas that will be used. The capacity is not the overall capacity but the number of tickets that will be available for the match.

Name of ArenaCapacityInformationHosting
Aloquirbe City Arena
Aloquirbe
15,000Located in the semi-autonomous country of Aloquirbe, the Aloquirbe City Arena is the largest of its kind in the city. Established in 1995, despite being nearly 30 years old, the arena is still one of the most modern across the ABEN nations. Aloquirbe City (the capital of Aloquirbe) is located across a channel from the capital of Britonisea, Doportedas which is connected via rail and road underneath the water.Lisander (26)
Abanhfleft (11)
Estadoyn de Zelmerlow
Zelmerlow (East Britonisea)
9,500Estadoyn de Zelmerlow (or Zelmerlow Arena in English) is located in the east of the country in the city of Zelmerlow. Zelmerlow is the most westerly major city on the Britonish mainland and second only to the urban areas on Isle Harmondsworth. The city is home to less than 400,000 people but is quite close and accessible to the larger Telm City or Boschke.Sarenia (UR)
Southwest Eastnorth (38)
Gyron Arena
Machievelihe (Central Britonisea)
20,400One of the largest arenas in Britonisea, the Gyron Arena will host the match against TJUN-ia. Machievelihe is located along the shores of Britonisea Bay, located in the centre of the city. With magnificent views of the mountains overlooking the city in the distance, Machievelihe is a picturesque location for the match.TJUN-ia (6)

We hope that for future editions of the IBC, Basketball Britonisea will be able to play in their new purpose-made arena.

HOME STADIUM (The Fleftic Arena, Riuwiee)
Image
Presenting the Fleftic Arena, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

Situated in the north of Abanhfleft's capital city of Riuwiee is the National Sports Park, a 140-hectare "special national designated area" in which a majority of Riuwiee's sporting facilities are located. Standing out among the stadia and gymnasia is the massive and imposing structure and flat roof of the Fleftic Arena, officially the largest indoor stadium in the whole of Abanhfleft with its official stated capacity of 100,786 seated spectators for indoor sports. The structure broke ground on September 26, 2009 as part of the capital city's reconstruction efforts following the aftermath of the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008 which left nearly the entirety of Riuwiee devastated, and construction was completed over three years later in 2012. The Fleftic Arena is the official home arena of the Abanhfleft national basketball team and has played host to dozens of matches during the International Basketball Championships. Aside from that, the Riuwiee Presidents of the Fleftic Basketball Association occasionally uses the Fleftic Arena as its home stadium when it plays marquee match-ups against well-known teams from the league such as the Malabon Black Ops or the Markovsky Red Army, taking advantage of the arena's huge capacity when the capacity of their usual home stadium, the Sterling Arena, is deemed to be not enough for games of such popularity. Aside from that, the Fleftic Arena has also played host to at least four FBA All-Star Weekends since its inauguration and opening in 2012.

As for the stadium's location, Riuwiee is the capital city of Abanhfleft and is home to over 20 million people. The Fleftic people are very crazy and passionate about basketball, and even though their home side the Riuwiee Presidents has been disappointing in the FBA as of late, the fans still come out in droves to support and cheer for their team.

THE EMPIRE PREPARES FOR THE INAUGURAL GAME

Image

On the early morning hours of Sunday (by Kanmerin time), the hosts of the 39th International Basketball Championship, Cassadaigua, had made a draw of the group stage. 42 teams from across the multiverse were sorted to the 7 groups, 6 teams in each group, and each is from different pot, of course. And from all those 42 teams, only 16 would progress to the playoffs...
The Imperial Basketball team was placed in the fifth pot, and was drawn to the group number 4,along with Semoro, Quebec and Shingoryeo, Drawkland, Kronbia and Muralos.
It is worth to mention, that Kanmer has the highest-ranked teams of first and fourth pots, Quebec and Shingoryeo, who is also a no. 1 of the international ranking, and Kronbia, in their group. Together with them are Drawkland and Muralos who are members of the ranking' s top-20. It is easy to understand, that there would be no walk in the park, and the progression of the Imperial team to the playoffs would be percieved as a pure miracle.

Rindeslau Wrinder, the head coach of the team, said that he banned many things that could distract playes from the following matches, and his target is to make athletes as concentrated as it could possibly be.

The first game, fortunaltely, would be played at home, on the Dasen Imperial Basketball Hall in Awenir, the capital of the Empire. About 17,000 tickets are bought already (with the capacity of 18,250). And the sales are not over yet. This number shows the interest of the people, as it is really impressive for the game in the middle of the working day in the hard weather.
Tomorrow, strong blizzards are forecasted in the central Imperial territories, including the capital, Awenir. The daytime temperature is forecasted to be around minus 5 degrees Celsius (or 23 degrees Farenheit), and in the night, it would be around minus 12 degrees Celcius (or 10 and the half degrees Farenheit). We don't know, how this weather would affect Drawkians, our opponent, on the way to the warm stadium, but the Imperial team is pretty used to it and this cold weather is even giving them additional motivation.

So, the severe weather is not a problem. The main problem for the Imperial team is the height of our opponents. The average height of the Drawkians is 7'5", or 226 centimeters, and the height of the basketball players is, of course, even bigger. The tallest player of the Kanmer Imperial team, Herasim Sende (227 cm or 7'5.5") is only a bit taller then the shortest player of the Drawkland, Catalina Daywasson (7'4" or 223.5 cm). It would be really tough time for the Imperial athletes, as they would definitely need a strong power of will, spirit and faith. And the faith is probably the most important, cause, as the Jesus Christ said, if you had a faith even like the grain of the mustard seed, you can even move mountains from their places, and there is nothing impossible for you.

So, there' s an end of the article. There's no need to put more pressure to the players. Let them stay calm and confident. Let them rest and prepare for their first game.

The last addition is that the Imperial Sports Ministry realised that the team could need and alternative jersey, and it was made. As it could be seen, it is identical to the first kit, but the colors are inverted.
