How does YN do Halloween?

Postby Sector 12 » Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:15 pm

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
In the spirit of Halloween, I have decided to ask you all:
How does Your Nation commit to Halloween? Or does Your Nation do it in an entire different way? I don't know! Just tell us!

Tangatarehua does not have Halloween.

October 31st is in the late spring/arguable start of summer in Tangatarehua and so this time of year doesn't really make sense for talking about death, darkness, coldness and the end of the harvest season. Plus pumpkins weren't introduced to Tangatarehua until the early 20th century.

Pumpkins don’t really grow here, but green coconuts may be used as decor, with faces painted on them. Children wear costumes, but trick or treating is not a thing. Generally, neighborhood block parties are used in lieu of trick or treating. Bayshire Mochi is given out as is candied mango, and coconut bars. The socials are usually held around 4-6pm, as it often rains at night into the early morning.

Halloween in Gandoor is considered to be one of the two unofficial official holidays in our nation, alongside Christmas (neither Halloween or Christmas are officially recognized as a holiday, in keeping with the strict separation of church and state, but both 31 October and 25 December are two of the ten generic Public Holidays in our nation; with all governmental and non-governmental workers [excepting for those employed in essential services] being given a day off, with pay, on each Public Holiday)

Trick-or-treating is not practiced in our nation, as knocking on other people's doors and asking them to give you things is considered to be impolite and somewhat rude in our culture. In lieu of trick-or-treating, Halloween parties aimed at families and children serve as a substitute for the practice, as children attending these parties will usually be given bags of candy for them to take home with them.

A general lack of exterior Halloween decorations is also something you will notice about Halloween in Gandoor. While exterior decorations for the holiday certainly do exist and may be found on the outside of haunted houses and other Halloween attractions, most decorations bought and used by the average person are designed for indoor usage - as most Halloween celebrations are indoor parties. Typically the most exterior decorations a household will have will be a jack-o-lantern or two.

Halloween takes place, but all the children travel to Buckingham palace to see Max and give him candy. Then he rates all the children’s costumes and the one he likes best he gives them 1/4 of the candy
I will be silly whenever humanly possible. I will always sit at the front of the bus to pretend to be the driver. I will always ask my friend who puts too much sugar in his tea if he would like some tea with that sugar. I will make all future dental appointments at 2:30.

This is Sillyism

Halloween functions basically the same as in the United States, but the President himself can be seen walking around aa John D. Rockefeller, with him in costume being referred to as "Candyfeller." He doesn't take candy, he gives candy, along with money. Usually, he gives away a few hundred thousand dollars, with each person he sees being given 50 dollars from Rockefeller.

The nation of Sakai and the Yomese Empire do not have Halloween, as that is a Christian holiday. However, we do have the Chitsuki Festival. The Chitsuki, or Blood Moon Festival, traditionally only took place on blood moons in the human realm and was connected more with Kashimurans specifically, but there is no natural moon in Yomi, nor are there many modern Kashimurans left in Sakai. On September 22nd during the Autumnal Equinox and the peak of rice harvesting season, a blood moon is magically simulated in the sky. This blood moon drastically increases demon power and weakens the human blood in all our citizens, which can cause transformations into more classical demonic forms for as long as it lasts. There are parties with lots of drinking for adults and lots of sweets for children in one big matsuri in the capital. Specific details of the celebration vary in other states of the Yomese Empire, but one particular to the capital is the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons. Representatives of every species — typically royalty or a diplomat from their country — are dressed in luxurious kimonos and taken on a parade through the streets of Sakai. This is also one of the few times the imperial family is also in the public eye without a disguise.

Halloween is usually celebrated by a tradition. First, candies are going to be transported to a crate (like Trick or Treat), then is sent to a pumpkin with a hole in it. Then, they put it in the fire for 2 minutes. Then, they take out the candy out of the heated pumpkin. The rest of the pumpkin will be cut to slices, but the candy is mixed with butter and flour, creating a candy ball. The exact same instructions of chocolate chip cookies applies to the candy recipe. Then the candy balls are cooled for 24 hours and baked for 5 minutes and becomes candy cookies.

There is another event called the "Last Day of this year's Fall Festival". It starts with a mass then after it there will be 1 or 2 crates around the entrance of the city hall or any house. At the end of the day, they make candy cookies out of it. There is an "Fall Triduum" mass 3 days before the festival. Seasons in Na Tlanhuna are a whole different than other tropical countries.

Halloween is not celebrated in the United Realms, although All Saints' Day (1 November) is a national holiday in which people take flowers to the graves of dead relatives.

We don't celebrate halloween but we do have an equivalent of it in Nascadia called the "Hendres Festival", which happens every year from the 12th of December until the 18th of December

We don't. Celebrating it (unless you are an expatriate of another country just living in Ateiria) is punishable by 2 years in re-education camp, and 1 year in purification prison. It is seen as "glorifying demons and providing an opening for them to enter the nation". Before Ferras came to power, it was mostly only Brits and Britaiters who celebrated it, although it was gaining popularity among the Espaigols as well. They celebrated it generally by having a burning (while October is Spring in Ateiria, it is still cold), and going trick-or-treating. Various Ateirinano groups had a holiday which celebrates the Fall season, and although they weren't so much about the spooky and scary as Halloween, did have a theme of the coming of the Winter season, which is quite a dark one. However, they are all banned too, only being celebrated in secret by certain dissidents who have managed to evade detection so far.

Halloween is celebrated by eating turnips, lighting rock or turnip lamps, and telling scary stories. Bob locks himself in the lighthouse the whole day, and refuses to come out before people stop " being weird ".

On the 1. November there is a more solemn remembrance of the dead, over coffee or tea, or whatever is available.

The culture of the Hiperuranion has not ties with Earth, so there's no Halloween, although the souls of deceased people are worshipped.

On the other hand, considering we have werewolves and barrow-wights, that witches and necromancers abound, and that ghosts are easier to find here than on Earth, we can say that every day is Halloween here.
