Hydroelectric and Nuclear power are the main sources of Cascadia, with around 77% of all energy sources coming from either nuclear or hydroelectric power. Solar, Geothermal and Wind power are also good sources of energy with 18% of energy coming from the three. Fusion Power makes up only 0.1%, Algae makes up 2% while the rest is from Natural Gas. The last Oil and Coal plants were shut down in 2023 and 2019 respectively.

Approximately 51% of the electricity production in the United Realms comes from nuclear power, due to the surplus of uranium found within the Lewfü mountains. And due to the many rivers and reservoirs, 36% of the electricity production comes from hydroelectric generation. There have been significant efforts to increase the use of other renewable and sustainable forms of energy in the United Realms, particularly in wind power, which currently makes up 9% of the electricity production; 4% of the electricity production comes from coal/oil.

Current sources for electricity production are as follows:

  • 50% Hydro
  • 30% Nuclear
  • 10% Natural gas
  • 5% Coal
  • 5% Other renewable (wind, solar, etc.)

Energy production is an extremely controversial political issue in Tangatarehua, with most parties at the last election pledging to phase out coal entirely but disagreeing over what to replace it with.

Nuclear power is also extremely controversial due to safety concerns - Tangatarehua is extremely prone to natural disasters so having a nuclear power plant damaged by an earthquake/cyclone/volcanic eruption/tsunami would be devastating according to opponents. The current government have stated that they support using nuclear power as a way to phase out coal.

While there is considerable support for renewable energy sources, especially expanded hydroelectric power generation, at present most of these do not meet the country's energy needs, with Tangatarehua's electricity consumption continually climbing year and year, often at a faster rate than the nation can increase electricity production - again, a major source of political controversy.

Electricity comprises 52% of Tangatarehua's total energy consumption with the remaining 48% coming from imported fossil fuels.

As such 55.8% of Tangatarehua's energy sources are non-renewable while the remaining 44.2% is, assuming that nuclear power is considered renewable.

Renewable energy defines Clancian electricity.

Solar and photovoltaic power were the first, and most prominent, forms of energy production. The seedship, whom safely carried the 1000 cryogenically entombed colonists, relied on solar and photovoltaic panels, including solar sails for propulsion. Though geothermal and biomass energy production facilities eventually appeared, solar and photovoltaic panels remained ubiquitous, even installed as an emergency source of electricity.

The primary source of energy in the Democratic Republic is from nuclear power, which is responsible for 83% of all annual energy production in Gandoor as of 2027.

The first nuclear power plant in Gandoor began operating in 1965 and, following the 1973 oil crisis, plans were put into place by the Government to greatly expand the usage of nuclear power and to end our nation's reliance on foreign oil with the intent being that at least 60% of all energy produced in Gandoor by the year 2000 would be produced using nuclear power. This goal would be achieved, with nuclear power being responsible for the production of 62% of energy in Gandoor in 2000.

Hydropower (6%), solar power (5%), wind power (3%), and waste incineration (2%) are all used to supplement the usage of nuclear power in the production of energy in our nation.

Coal-fired power stations once made up the second-largest source of energy in our nation (a peak of 28% of all energy produced in 1976) but has since gradually been phased out since the 1980s. The phasing out of coal was originally due to air and water pollution concerns and later due to coal being one of the largest contributors to global climate change. Only 1% of all energy produced in Gandoor as of 2027 is produced via coal-fired power stations and all such remaining stations are due to be decommissioned no later than 31 December 2030.

Postby Oddernia » Mon Aug 28, 2023 5:12 pm

As of 2508 UE, Oddernia remains a top producer of greenhouse gases on the planet yaBuhta, receiving approximately 63% of its energy from fossil fuels, split fairly evenly between coal and oil. However, this is down from 86% in 2450 UE, due to Oddernia's investment into the Sustainability 2525 program. Oddernia has extensive offshore oil fields, making it an oil-independent country and a net exporter of petroleum. Nuclear energy is rare in Oddernia due to lingering mistrust regarding its safety and environmental impact following the Acedia 11 incident, and the cost and time of construction for nuclear power plants.

Geothermal power is the main source of power in Solotrussia, which is a net exporter of energy, mainly to Dobberisk, and to Oddernia's neighbor nation Virdatia. The majority of wind power in Oddernia is located in the Wollni Sea, as offshore wind turbines have powered oil rigs, and increasingly, decommissioned oil rigs have been repurposed into wind turbines themselves — many of them outfitted with solar panels as well. The Sustainability 2525 program also encourages home wind and solar through tax incentives, if not outright sponsoring the installation of these in disadvantaged communities with otherwise poor access to electricity.

The largest dam in Oddernia is the Remembrance Dam located in Mozi, which has an installed capacity of ~19,000 MW and is the largest dam on yaBuhta. It is beautifully decorated with a colorful mural dedicated to the memory of the first Premier of the Federation, Svitla Sjablla. While a major source of power in the region, the Remembrance Dam is still controversial for its environmental impact, and for giving Mozi an unfair amount of control over the downstream water resources of Yerefalur, Asparisk, and Barsukia.

However, above all other sources of renewable energy stands biogas, which comprises some 23% of Oddernia's energy consumption. Major reasons for this include Oddernia's very high population of itinerant motor vehicle dwellers, the Oddernian agricultural industry, and issues with providing reliable electrification in many poorer parts of Oddernia.

The Sustainability 2525 program also encourages Oddernians to cut down on energy use in various ways and recycle, and is also investing heavily into research and development of new sources of energy. Oddernian scientists are currently most fixated on getting "lightning in a bottle" — that is, harvesting the enormous amount of energy generated by the incredibly frequent lightning near the southern coast of Barsukia. There have been some promising recent developments in lightning harvesting technology, but it seems like it'll still be a long time before Oddernian homes will be powered by lightning. We can only hope!

Hydroelectricity has been the predominant source of energy in Rhodevus for decades. Making up some 58% of energy production, it is followed by Nuclear (17%), Oil (10%), Natural Gas and Wind (4% each) to round out 93% of energy production across the country. While hydroelectric dams are still being built, their construction is happening at a much slower pace than it had been in years passed. It is expected that hydroelectricity will fall below 50% of energy production by 2030, with the increased installation of solar, wind, and especially geothermal energy sources.

The largest increase in electric production in Rhodevus was in 1963 where two massive hydro dams were finished construction and put online with months of one another. The latest hydroelectric dam was built at the Kaquliak Basin in the Imperial City of Rhode and went online in 2022.

94% of the energy demand is satisfied by nuclear fusion, followed by about 3% hydrogen fuel cells. Electricity is often generated in a decentralized manner, with a compact fusion reactor being a roughly washing-machine-sized appliance in most residences, or shared among the tenants of a building.

Since 2015, Greater Marine has sought to phase out fossil fuels in favour of nuclear and renewables. Nuclear is the main source of electricity, at 32%, and has always been a major part of the nation’s electricity supply, chosen as it eliminated demand for imported oil and gas, whilst providing large amounts of power relative to running costs. Although controversial, it is also recognised as being much less polluting than other forms of power. Increasingly, renewables have been replacing fossil fuels, with hydroelectric plants providing 24% of all power, and wind and solar 16% and 13%. The remaining 15% is provided by oil, gas and coal, at 8%, 6% and 1%.

There used to be a lot of Nuclear Power Stations in Beliras, but following the nuclear incident from an island country near it (Forumvia), all power stations which use uranium have been converted to bio-power. The same happens for all coal & oil plants. Outside of bio-power, there is also wind turbines, which are found offshore and have 3-5 blades. They use the conventional wind turbine base, which is painted with 3 diagonal stripes of purple, white and green. There are also solar panels, mainly found on rooftops of hotels and whatnot.

There are total:

43% Biofuel
36% Wind
31% Solar

Electricity use started in the late 1890s, with a total power concentration of oil. When solar energy panels were introduced in 1947, many oil power plants shut down, except for a few. The oil power plants were demolished and reformed into solar power plants. The last oil power plant to be shut down was the Yaenji Island Oil Power Plant in 1951. Instead of being demolished like the other oil power plants, they used "solar panel rooms." On the inside were electrical wires, but on the outside, it had a glass roof with solar panels instead. Then, it was shut down again in 1955 and was replaced with a solar power plant because oil kept producing from the power plant.

Currently, we rely on 75% Solar, 20% Wind, and 5% Water. There are only 165 river dams. The biggest was the Na Tlanhuna Capital River Dam, the longest was the Gula Strait Dam, and the tallest was the Kuyko Falls Dam.

A geothermal power plant will be built in 2031 called the Na Tlanhuna Geothermal Plant.
