A Communist Conspiracy in a Tropical Paradise [OOC][OPEN]

This is the OOC thread for my upcoming RP, "A Communist Conspiracy in a Tropical Paradise". The RP will revolve around the activities of communist terrorists in the Hintuwani city of Van Hoorn and the Hintuwani government's attempts to quell it.

I'm thinking this will be a sort of semi-military, semi-political character-based RP. Expect focus less on military strategy and more focus on personal stories. I will post the IC shortly.

There won't be any sign-ups so just please feel free to express your interest as well as provide an overview of your country's involvement in the RP. Any and all involvement (within reason) is encouraged.

Depends on what is deemed acceptable, or what could be hashed out with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, support could range from military advisors and training of Hintuwanian personnel in Mediaman military and police training facilities on up to date counter-insurgency and anti-terrorism tactics, covert operations with MI-6 and the Special Air Service, Naval Special Operations Service, or other such special forces alongside Hintuanian special forces, to full on boots on the ground deployments.

Realistically I would be open to all of these, but perhaps we can start with military advisors. Hintuwani police forces are badly equipped and badly trained due to a whole host of factors, including rampant corruption and severe underfunding. It would be beneficial for the force to be able to train with units that have more expertise or are more technologically advanced.

Just wanted to dip my toes in to see what you'd want me to possibly start with. Advisors and material aid to an extent sounds like a reasonable start, though the latter may be a little more difficult if there's issues with corruption, wouldn't want any NATO weapons to be sold in the black market or the like.

tbh reasonably speaking you should expect leakage of some amount of any arms trade made with the Hintuwani government, as it is extremely corrupt

If you'd like maybe you can start by sending a character to assess the situation for the Mediaman government first, such as a high ranking politician or intelligence agency member. This could allow you to get to talk to their counterparts in Hintuwan first before making a decision.

I would be interested in that as well. I could imagine two possible avenues of approach:
1. Seeing that the government is quite corrupt, and so are its officials, a possible avenue to explore would be a crime syndicate expanding operations to Van Hoorn - as a communist insurgency would be detrimental to business, they would be for the currently in charge people and against the communists, too.
2. Seeing that the corrupt government is currently underfunding and underequipping their forces in the area, an arms dealer would be in a good position to make a few interesting deals for all involved. If the training powers do not want to give them equipment, then someone has to.

I have been meaning to worldbuild Hintuwan's criminal underworld for some time now so this seems like a good a time as any to do so. Yes, this would be alright with me. In fact, it's perfect as I kind of need an in-lore explanation for where all the armed groups in Hintuwan are getting their weapons from. You pretty much have free reign to do as you like for now as all Hintuwani law enforcement resources are spread thin trying to suppress the political instability currently gripping the country.

I don't really have any factbooks on the state of organized crime in Hintuwan but basically the conditions are very similar to what you would find in any other Southeast Asian country. The region with the highest wealth inequality is the south (La Paz and San Bernardino), while the drug and arms trade would probably be most profitable in Panhai (Kemarak and Gambang Peninsula specifically) due to radical Islamist groups fighting there for so long (here's a map of Hintuwan btw). Also LCN could use the Hintuwani colony territorial collectivity of Lupah Ilijay as some sort of stopgap for illicit goods being brought between the Selkie and Hintuwan since that area also has very minimal law enforcement.

There are no such plans, currently. The Free Lands' main attention is currently elsewhere (an ally is at war) and Lutetii (where the LCN is from ; )) doesn't have a military anymore.
