In the same system of the planet Oshina, which has recently become a hub for galactic exploration in the past few years, Verking Colonist Ships were heading to the planet, when they found a large icy planet. The Planet has now been named “Duroth” from the Verking Word for “Cold Place”. While Oshina lies in the habitable zone of its star, about 0.78 AU away from if, Duroth orbits 10 times farther away at 8.9 AU. Duroth has a extremely long day-night cycle, taking 423 Earth Days to one orbit on its axis, this means nights on the planet can be over 200 days long. Duroth, as its name suggests, is as such a cold, barren world due to how far it is from its star, with a average temperature of -112 Fahrenheit, all water on the surface is frozen, though there may be a underground ocean. The Surface is covered by a layer of Ice and Snow on average half a mile deep. Duroth has a large continental Shelf which can easily be distinguished from Orbit. Duroth also has too small moons, Diros and Mirinus, which are believed to be captured asteroids, due to their weird elliptical orbits. Duroth has also been discovered to be extremely resource rich, with massive deposits of Iron, Gold, Copper, and Silver being found. Duroth is also about 0.5x the size of Earth, meaning it has a small gravitational pull. Duroth is also close to the Asteroid Belt of the Oshina System, making it a prime candidate for a strong Asteroid Mining Industry.

Verking Ships decided to land on a large flat area in Astern (A Large Continent in Eastern Duroth), immediately they found strange ruin’s scattered, which were extremely technologically advanced, scientists were sent to the colony but they are still trying to understand the ruins. Meanwhile, news of the discovery of Duroth has just now reaching Oshina, even though the Verking have been there for a few days. A small mining outpost has been set up outside the colony, which right now is only extracting Silver and Gold. The Colony only currently has a small population of about 100-200 Individuals.

The XDS Xaako flew above Duroth. It and the rest of the fleet had been dispatched away from Oshina after the XDS Qaarol had landed safely. They had a new goal now. Find a suitable planet that can be used as some sort of shipyard and factory planet. Ideally the planet should have minimal native population and a lot of open space. If the expedition to Oshina was to go well then the new shipyard and factory planet was to be close to Oshina to have maximum production and usage.

On the bridge of the XDS Xaako the admiral looked out at the planet below "Duroth, seems uninhabited except for some colonizers from Oshina. So that is easy money. It also fits all of the descriptions for our new planet. Tell the XDS Great Qual and the XDS J-33 to land and scout out the area. While they do that I will contact the heads of the corporation back on Xaarloj." The aides on the bridge all nodded silently and began ordering ships around...

Duroth
A few hours later the XDS Great Qual had landed on Duroth. As a few soldiers left the ship the quickly found that the planet was ice cold and they seemed to be sinking rapidly. They quickly got a small station set up for trying to measure out temperature and weather.

Duroth

After the Discovery of a small planet near Oshina, flowing with resources, and perfect for asteroid mining. The Birrin Corporation became keen to set their claim their quickly, before anyone else. A Outpost is set up on the side of a Icy Cliff, meanwhile Ruins of some ancient spaceship it seems were unearthed near the Northern Side of the colony. Large drills have begun digging into the Frozen Ocean surface to find possible deposits of Liquid Water. It has also been theorized there could be some sort of underground ocean far beneath the ice.

UEE Sector

Seeing the various events and conflicts on Oshina, the UEE thought it important to stake their claim on Duroth before the planet became crowded with competing galactic powers and organizations. If things go well here, the Empire may consider touching down on Oshina.

A small chunk of the surface is claimed as imperial territory. From here, Exucular will slowly grow to encompass more areas based on the needs of the imperial colony on the planet.

This colony would have two primary functions. One being the conduct of mining operations and the like. The other would be scientific, where personnel would study Duroth's ruins and the planet itself. More functions will be added as the colony grows.

As the viability and safety of the colony have not been entirely guaranteed, no families or mass migration to Duroth are allowed until further notice. Only necessary personnel and security forces are permitted at the current time.

Noticing the increased interest on Duroth, the Imperium decides to branch out into the area. Seeing as to how entirely unsuitable for life it is, 25,000 D-5s are sent to the planets surface, along with plenty of basic building materials and nanites. The plan is to set up basic infrastructure (Enough for a few thousand humans and at least half a million D-5s), while also mapping out the material and mineral deposits on the planet. Later on, when more resources become available, the main base will become a hub of trade and transport to get resources from the asteroids to massive haulers, and just to generally trade.

As more and more competing groups begin to set up shop on Duroth's surface, the UEE decides to begin a slow but steady expansion.

The UEE sector slowly expands, with new facilities, habitable areas, and infrastructure being built to support the growing population of imperial personnel. Some of the more notable additions are a spaceport on the surface and a space station high in orbit. These two facilities would help the movement of goods and people between Duroth and the rest of the Empire.

Senscarian Research and Development Colony of Duroth
Settling on the North pole of the planet, a team of 100 scientists, 400 workers, and 200 clones have settled to see what is beneath the ice.

The Senscarian Board of Economics and Trade bickers over the asteroid belt, until the head of the board, Budge B. Budgiefeather, owner of the Senscarian Mineral Mining Trust states, “Chirp.” [translation]: “Start a few mining colonies on the belt, establish neutrality, nobody means any harm and start research on the ice and figure out what is beneath the surface.

Upon finding out about the planet Germany decides to astablish a small outpost on it. Germany decided to send a first colonial pioneer unit to astablish themselves on the planet before begining further exspansion. The pioneer unit is made out of 3 German Artic Combat Brigades and a small transport fleet made up out of 4 Transport ships 8 Submarines 1 Heavy Battleship and 7 Support Cruisers.

The expansion and improvement of the UEE sector continue at a good pace. The spaceport and space station are complete, allowing for larger starships to be received and serviced at Duroth.

In the first checks of the asteroid belt, it is discovered that it contains lots of rare minerals that are used in the production of SRNERP, another mineral that can be used to reinforce SRNERP. Because of this, the project is granted very high priority resource-wise, with billions of gallons of nanites and millions more D-5s being brought to the colony. However, most of these resources will be sent into the asteroid belt to establish many smaller hub bases, and just regular mining bases on asteroids and such. Just run of the mill asteroid mining

OOC: I will be RPing as two or four nations. However, even if I RP as simply four nations, there won't be four colonies, but rather two colonies - one by an empire and the other having a population from three nations. Also, the three nations' joint colony would function as a major trading hub, a negotiating table hub, and a neutral zone as well as a hub for exploratory groups - so long as no one attacks. The empire's colony would also function as a major trading hub and a neutral zone, but it will be fully neutral and uninterested.

The Novayan Stellar Commonwealth, Saiyanese Stellar Federation and New Roman Empire - three powerful nations that made up the Triumvirate organization - learned of what is happening in Duroth through their own explorers. Fearing that conflicts would brew there, the three Triumvirate member-states organized a flotilla consisting of a colony ship, several transport spacecraft and dropships, fill them with supplies, vehicles, equipment, resources and colonists, and deployed said flotilla to Duroth. Transporting about 1,000-2,000 colonists, the flotilla would arrive in high orbit and begin their descent onto an unclaimed piece of land on Duroth. Upon landing, the colonists would begin settling in, setting up tents and refurbishing the transport spacecraft, dropships and colony ship into being makeshift housings, and setting up a few hydroponics farms that were closed ecological systems combined with vertical farming. Development of a habitation area is in progress.

Supplies would come in a monthly basis to allow the colonists to survive and be supplied. A few Triumvirate colonists would be sent to prospect the land for resources and spots to perform research at. And since the colony was located next to the "shore", that would make the colonists' day very good. Oh, and they have to drill into the ice just to install pipes for the colonists to drink, bathe and even provide water for their hydroponics farms. To ensure that water is treated properly, a few makeshift water treatment plants would be set up, to be developed into actual water treatment plants. A few makeshift waste treatment plants also were set up - so they can be translated into actual waste treatment plants at a later date - to reduce organic waste into fertilizers and non-organic waste into reusable objects.

Meanwhile, the Kalaidian Empire, a militaristic empire, sent a similar flotilla to Rudoth to set up a colony, though far away from the Triumvirate's colony. While the colony building set up is similar, the Kalaidian colonists don't really seem interested in conflict and were rather neutral, they instead concerned and focused themselves with developing their colony. Supplies from the mother empire was also sent in a monthly basis to keep the colony well-supplied.

Both colonies declared complete neutrality.

[Independent Galactic States]

The first steps of colonisation.

The Federation of Independent Galactic States (From now on will be referred to as F.I.G.S) managed to pick up the planet and signals surrounding it, they know about the colonisation of Oshina and wished to stay out of it due to how many nations were now involved. However Duroth seemed like a better candidate for the Federation to explore, having only recently that nations began moving and setting up outposts in the cold planet.

The Rift Republic was the first nation in the Federation to assemble a scouting team, using their Capital Rift Gate to transport multiple corvettes and a landing shuttle. The shuttle was equipped with heating and 30 crew members who wore heavy warm clothing to protect themselves from the cold. Landing near the equator on the side that was still being lit by the distant sun, which would stay lit for another 200 days and giving the first colonists enough time to prepare for the lunar days.

A Federation meeting was assembled where the major nations of F.I.G.S met and discussed plans for the planet, with the Military Administration of Kolgara being tasked with security of the operation and the Altari Federation being tasked with sending a second wave of colonists and supplies to the planet.

UEE Sector

Seeing the constant armed struggles on Oshina, the Empire does not sign the non-aggression pact in order to keep military options open in the case of a possible, perhaps inevitable conflict on Duroth.

However, the UEE does pledge to open trade to all galactic powers on Duroth upon request.

Considering the inherent hostile nature and extreme conditions of the planet, the UEE also pledged to respond to and render aid to any and all maydays and distress calls from colonial settlements and facilities on Duroth and the space surrounding the world.

F.I.G.S outpost on Duroth:

The news of the shuttle successfully landing on the planets surface gave even more hope and backing behind the colonisation of Duroth, with the State of Oberon beginning the production of machinery and warm clothing for more colonists to come who would expand the Federations influence on the planet.

The second part of the operation would begin with a task force jumping into the Duroth sphere of influence, composed of military vessels escorting large transport ships. The task force was made up of 3 light frigates, 1 anti-ship destroyer and 2 more corvettes which were joined up with the corvettes from the earlier mission. The task force was made to safely escort 2 personnel transports and 3 supply ships, with the flagship of the entire task force being a large 1140 meter long transport vessel carrying enough supplies to sustain the new colonists and outpost for half a Duroth year.

The task force entered the sphere of influence of Duroth, and quickly dispatched the smaller transports to begin landing near the outpost and begin expanding the outpost. Permanent structures began being built up using building mechs and light-weight metal that was at the same time very sturdy. Storages were built and the mechanised walkers did most of the heavy work in building and transporting the necessary supplies while the other humans focused on getting supplies and colonists back and forth from the task force.

The massive 1 Kilometer transport vessel stayed near the task force, dispatching multiple supply drops as well as sending over multiple miner ships to the Asteroid belt near the planet. The Federation had learned of the rich Asteroid belt near the planet and needed more information before any action could be made. The task force stayed right above the Federation outpost, not moving anywhere else or trying to establish contact with the other settlements. However the task force did make sure that everyone knew they were there, the task force publicly sent out a message entailing that a Federation task force was on the planet and that they were peaceful.

Back on the planet's surface, most of the necessary buildings were complete. With heated habitation rooms, cafeteria, and an electrical station to power the facility that used a small fusion reactor brought over from the task force. A water refinery was built and began taking ice from the surface of the planet and making it safe to drink. While the operation of building the outpost was not yet complete, already 1729 colonists had been transported to the desolate ice world. Equipped with mechs to expand the facility and mining equipment to begin small scale mining operations that would then slowly evolve into a large mining industry. The task force still had many colonists not on the planet, with an expected 2900 colonists to be stationed on the outpost by the end of the operation by the task force.
