The country in itself is very beautiful, fantastic culture, and some very amazing natural beauty. The Government however, is the complete opposite. I don't think some people understand that the people aren't the villain's and I think we should have nothing again the Russian People, as they haven't done anything wrong, the government have brainwashed many people into believing the invasion in Ukraine is "Liberating" them, which of course is false. With a different government, it would be 10x better, but the rest of Russia, I think, is pretty good.

Isn't the "liberation" part what every government that has waged after World War 2 used as a reason

* I live in this territory, but I am deprived of any leverage over its government, so I cannot be held responsible for the actions of its government.
* There is no reason to demonize or idealize her. Due to the cold climate, remoteness from the main sea trade routes, frequent wars, etc., monarchical Russia lagged behind Europe by 200-300 years in industrial development and in the spread of humanistic culture (i.e., in emancipation from feudal-church dogmas and survivals that enslaved the personality). But this is not a unique feature; many countries in the East, Africa, etc., lagged even further behind. Agrarian backwardness prevented the country from developing: in the economy it hindered technological modernization and the growth of prosperity, in culture it led to many erroneous decisions and harmful remnants in the behavior of both rulers and the masses.
* The revolution of 1917 - the overthrow of the monarchy and the coming to power of left-wing radicals, pushed the industrial modernization of the country, secularization, emancipation of ordinary life and culture. This influenced the whole world, forced the bourgeoisie of all countries to social handouts and cultural indulgences for their workers and the poor. At that time, Russia was the flagship of world progress (as France was such a flagship under Robespierre and Napoleon).
* But, unfortunately, the backward remnants in the USSR did not disappear instantly, but first led to the Stalinist conservative turn of the 1930s, and then the collapse of the USSR in 1991. After that, everything went according to the classical Marxist scheme: the concentration of capital and power in the hands of a handful of monopolists, the emergence of state-monopoly capitalism and imperialism, the replacement of bourgeois liberal democracy by the dictatorship of big owners with the ideology of great power, the offensive of clericalism and chauvinism, despotism and archaism, the attack on the social rights and political freedoms of the masses. Then began the third redistribution of the world between blocs of imperialist powers. Karl Liebknecht advised left-wing activists in such cases to be more critical of the government of "their" country than to the governments of foreign countries - but at the same time not to idealize foreign ones either.
* TLC Factbook
* Goal: increase comfort, technical capabilities and knowledge for most people.
* Pro: technicalism, social equality, cosmopolitanism, scientific atheism, revolutionism, emancipation.
* Contra: technophobia, reactionary despotism, nationalism, religion, ascetic regulation, traditionalism, patriarchality.
* Real location: Russia. Sorry for mistakes in English. Всем салют!

Russia is definitely one of the countries of all time.

But for real, I have mixed feelings about Russia. It is an extremely large country on the world stage and has been involved in a lot of significant events, but I don't know much about the people within it. I definitely do not like Putin though, or many of their past leaders for that fact.

I think it's a neat country with a very cool historical background. But, how it's been for the past few decades, especially with Putin as a dictator, has definitely ruined most peoples' perception of the country. Hoping for the best for the Russian people, though. They don't deserve to live in a hellhole like Russia is now.

I think that it's a beautiful nation with a great culture. It's just been ruined by inept and authoritarian dictatorship. There was a chance for it to go towards it's potential after the Soviet collapse, but our fucking politicians wanted to keep using them as the big baddie while China rose to power

Not so much the latter nowadays thanks to the Soviet disease that infested the country for the better part of a century

I have no problems with the Russia, whether is the current Russian Federation, former Sovietic Republic of Russia, formerly former Russian Empire, or the Tsardom of Russia before it. Is a beautiful nation, with beautiful people and lovely culture. Problems? Every nation has its own. We should stop allowing temporary situations caused by people to change our minds about entire nations.

It was called the Soviet Union, and...oh.

That Peter guy seemed pretty neat, too.
Just think of the Pacific Northwest under a charismatic, theocratic ruler who has many wives, lovers, etc. and was directly appointed by the hand of God. With plenty of both leftist and some rightist policies in place under his enlightened guidance. Very sex-positive laws, too. This ain't your grandfather's theocracy. It's a utopia in the midst of a post apocalyptic Dark Age.
