"Good morning, evening, afternoon to whoever this message reaches. I am Padriga Kerautret, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Great Brittany.
In the past year or so we have become increasingly aware of the true extent of our shared existence. Some call it the multiverse. Some, another name entirely. One thing is clear to us now, however. It is that for all the immensity and expanse of our own universe, it was not the only one. It is an immensely humbling fact to bear. However it is our knowledge of this fact that equips us with great opportunity."

"In an unprecedented development we have developed technology with which the walls separating our distinct existences can be rendered moot. Two-way portals to bridge realities. It's likely been the fever dream of countless science fiction writers. In the same way we have also developed a radio device powerful enough that we believe this message may reach a good number of you. We hope it does."

"We understand our infancy in this field which I am sure many of you men and women of goodwill are already well-acquainted with. But we would like to explore this uncharted territory with your help. That is why I make this following invitation to all of you listening."

"To make things short, we'd like to invite any multiversal citizen of good standing and with the means to travel here... to a party. You could say we're... celebrating, in our quaint little way, our ascendancy from ignorance the lot of you might laugh good-naturedly at."

"It's a nice venue, a very old castle, over a thousand years old. The family living there was gracious enough to offer to be the hosts. The castle is smack-dab in the middle of the town. Don't worry, there are clean toilets inside the castle, and a pool just outside of it. You'll have a good time. The family living there cooks a decent breakfast, and you might like our local selection of fizzy drinks that they'll probably serve."

"We'd love to have as many of you as possible here, whether you're a foreign dignitary or a private citizen. Either way, you coming here would be a pleasure. I can't imagine the sheer breadth of different and equally astounding cultures you must come from, way out there."

"Just some ground rules and reminders though."

Faintly, papers rustle.

"1. Don't pee in the pool. This is not a public place, you are a guest at a family home.
2. No kids allowed. No offense intended to any of you, but trust an adult to act as proper models when children are involved in this day and age? Ha!
3. Pets allowed, but their waste is your responsibility.
4. Don't take pictures of the Hasteins. Or of anybody without their permission.This is a party. If you're a paparazzo, be sensible for once.
5. Note all weapons beforehand. No rifles or what would generally constitute an 'assault weapon'.
6. The dress code is casual. Just don't be naked or overly skimpy. Bring a swimsuit or whatever other appropriate wear if you want a dip in the pool. Or you can just go in with normal clothes. Just bring extra ones if that's the case.
7. No skinny-dipping."

"Ahem, sorry. Please transmit to frequency [redacted] so we can establish secure contact. You might want to share the news of this broadcast to a friend in the event that they might be interested. Our scientists will coordinate with you so that a stable portal can be established. Upon arrival you'll be processed at the Naoned National Airport and undergo standard contraband checks."

"And that's all. I'll be there, as well some other members of cabinet. Hope to see you there, it's nice to dip in the pool this time of year."

Hey everybody. Still pretty new to the whole NS roleplay scene, and I wanted to start out with something kinda lowkey, with a nice little pool party with drinks and everything, complete with a nice dose of 9th century citadel. Here's to a good start.
Before anything else, make sure you read this and the little collapsed text above to get an idea of the RP setting and concept.

Bring your characters, whether they be random guys off the street, diplomats, or whoever. There's room enough for kicking back and relaxing, but if you bring someone who matters to the party, a few government officials are in attendance who would love to talk relations.
That's in no way a suggestion that you should bring a diplomat or official or what have you though. Again, feel free to bring just about any character from your country you can think of. There's a jukebox, I hear, and a diving board, and you know how they say it's easy to fall madly in love in the spring? Well, there's something for just about any old body who might come.

Again, still new to all this so if you guys ever have any tips, please share. I'd love to learn.

Collapsed are the dreaded OOC rules and guidelines.

1. Follow site rules of course.

2. For OOC questions and concerns feel free to ask them in this here OOC thread.

3. This RP is in an MT setting, but you can bring characters from most any time period so long as you have some rationale that they could have gotten wind of the party somehow, and the capabilities to contact us by radio.
However, if you're going to seek any kind of diplomatic relations with Brittany through the party, please note I'd only want that with fellow MT or MT-adjacent countries (say, couple years forward or backward). I just don't want too much FT to be introduced technologically into Brittany's universe, whether that's by trade or whatever. Hope you guys understand.

4.There are a good amount of NPCs I've got prepped, which I'll control.

5. Creativity and unconventionality with the kind of character(s) you bring is welcome. Light fantasy & magic is welcome too. But no big stuff like eldritch abominations or literal omnipotent deities. Again, please ask if you're unsure.

6. No killing anybody please. You can get into fights, sock that guy in the nose, but please don't kill anybody.

7. Put some detail in your posts! You don't need to write whole paragraphs, just flesh things out a bit with a bit of description so it's clear what you want your character to be doing.

8. Have fun and interact with folk. It's a party, no need to be all dour! Be hammy, dump your tragic, angsty backstory, crack all the wisecracks you can, push an old man into a pool—do something 100x more creative than those tame things I just spouted! The only limit is your character's personality (and the guidelines, I guess )

9. When RP begins, in-RP it will be about 8:30 am on a Saturday. I'll probably further iron out the timeline when I get to making the IC post.

10. Your characters can start out within the castle premises already. Feel free to write what your character may have done, what happened to them, before they got there.

11. You can sign up to three characters. This rule is tentative and the number may increase.

If anything is unclear, please ask me about it.

Here's a rudimentary layout of the castle area for your reference, with the floor plan for the first floor. A circular wooden rampart surrounds the roads, with gates where the ancient stone roads of the castle meet the modern roads outside.

However... if you're creative, you might be able to find a way to sneak Sarah Jr. into there, or pass her off as an adult. The limit is with if you can find a logical way to go about it. If I may, a small tip I have: Stick to your own rules. Observe them when dealing with the players, but also observe them yourself. At the same time, keep them loose enough to not railroad your players along the path you want them.
Subtle hints as to where you want players to go work most of the time. ; )

This about sums it up. That, and don't worry too much about it. The more you worry, the more likely you'll screw up. Just have fun - there's no universal standard for roleplay. Just let things flow and develop accordingly. Oh, and let people know if you have any ideas in mind. As long as you keep touch with everyone, you're golden.

This is of course your choice, but I usually leave applications open for my Social RPs like this one in order to give people the chance for a late entrance. Working on the IC is always good, though. ; )
