Embers of a Crisis (MT—Open)

Postby Liegalla » Wed May 31, 2023 4:17 pm

A Nation in Crisis!

Liegalla, the small flat nation has long existed under the hard rule the kings of House Ojeras, but hard rule in the eyes of many had turned into outright tyranny under the current ruler, the ill-tempered King Vytautas IV. While promoting a foreign policy of peace and strict neutrality, at home the “Bastard King” as nicknamed by his many enemies—in whispered tones and out of earshot—has ruled with an iron fist and terror. His absolutism rule had lead to a crumbling economy, widespread suppression and mass poverty. While most could ignore the bloody palace intrigue of the Ojerases, a long history of assassinations and regicidal coups, this king’s bloodlust has spilled out beyond the palace walls.

While King Vytautas sits on the Dragonfire Throne in the capital, Vysla, in the hinterlands thousands of Liegallans find no work and empty bellies. Those who in the past dared to speak out against the king have scars and lack of tongues as reminders of that foolishness. Those who survived the captivity of the King’s prison complex. The nation’s production of wheat, millet and corn continues, only to be confiscated by the King’s soldiers and distributed amongst his cronies or exported abroad. Neglected infrastructure leaves much of the nation left in what seem like the begone feudal era.

It seems the straw that has broken the proverbial dragon’s back however has been the latest round of the mandatory draft of Liegalla’s young men into the Royal Army. Unwilling to serve in the very garrison that housed the same soldiers that had terrorized his family, one young man, Dalius Jonytis attacked and killed his senior officer, Sergeant Liudas Preidis in Rzhev. The death of Preidis lead to a man hunt for Jonytis, who, along with six other deserters fled into the safety of Holy Trinity Church where the Deacon, Ambraziejus Pauliukevicius sealed of the entrances under the ancient right of sanctuary. This however did not stop the army, who entered the church and opened fire upon its occupants, killing the deacon, Jonytis and two others. It was this that lead to the streets of Rzhev erupting into riots and protests, as years of anger finally boils over. And that anger has begun spreading across the north as grievances and old wounds spilt open a bleed.

As the number of protesters rise to the count of thousands, some have started to put voices to their anger, some suggesting that bastard Vytautas is not the rightful king, and should be overthrown in favor of his younger half-brother, the true heir forced into exile years ago. Other, louder voices have started to suggest that the very concept of a monarchy in the modern world is illegitimate, and the Dragonfire Throne should be torn down.

While them may be but embers now, the risk of them growing into flames grows and grows with each passing moment.

Coalition Palace of Sibinaf

Visari sat looking over the documents on his desktop. He sighed the world is a mad place he thought to himself and he hated the fact he had to lead a nation in this world. "My Lord." General Radec entered the room stopping and saluting half way across the expansive office, stood on the Family Emblem of house Visari and also the flag of the COG of Sibinaf. "Radec! How are you?" Chairman Visari stood and walked over to the General grasping him in a one armed embrace pulling the man close. The General smiled and patted his leader on the shoulder. The two men had fought as Junior officers in the Tiberium War and now faced the world from different positions of power. "Sir, I've come to give a report." Radec said simply as the two men parted and he passed a folder to the Chairman. Visari nodded and walked back to his desk opening the document and perusing it quickly. "Seems like a shit show." He said smiling at Radec and nodding his sad acceptance of the matter. "We have no affiliation with this Family, but the actions of its people suggest that they can't hold onto power much longer without substainal bloodshed. Radec, prepare the 29th Infantry and 3rd Armoured Regiments. 5000 men and 150 tanks should be a good enough force if this breaks into an open conflict we'll have to ask Admiral Cody if we can borrow his 2nd Fleet. Find me out more information on this country and get me a press conference booked." Visari spoke quickly as he closed the folder and looked at Radec. Radec nodded, turned on one foot and left the room at a speedy march.

Press Conference Room 3

Chairman VIsari walked into the room the cameras all on and the flashes of photographs nearly blinding him. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen." He began, "Today I am sure many of you will have heard of the crisis in Liegalla. The roar of an oppressed people is being heard and the Coaltion of Ordered Governments of Sibinaf will not stand idly by till peace is restored. Whilst we will not interfere directly unless armed conflict begins in the aforementioned nation we will not invade on either side of the conflict directly. But, we will prepare for a peace keeping role in the case this crisis expands into conflict and draws other powers in. Our aim is to prevent the wholesale slaughter of innocent people and to provide aid. At this time i am calling all reservists who are part of the 29th Infantry and 3rd Armoured into active duty and they will begin reorientation training within the next 3 weeks. The active duty members will deploy to the coast of Liegalla and prepare to deliver aid and supplies to the civilian population and establish safe zones free from conflict. If the tide changes and we are required to pick a side the COG of Sibinaf will meet and discuss the matter in full. Thank you." With that Visari began to take various questions.

Tvirtove Palace, Vysla, Liegalla

“Oppressed?” scoffed King Vytautas IV as he sat at the head of the Royal Cabinet’s table. The Royal Cabinet was the instrument of government the king used to see his will be done. The Royal Cabinet was as old the monarchy, growing and shrinking in size and power over the reigns of generations of kings. And it, as the rest of Liegalla, was dominated by House Ojeras.

“That is what the international is starting to say,” said Queen Brigita, an exasperated edge to her voice. In her early forties, the wife of the king sat at his right, though officially she held no position in the royal cabinet. No woman did. But Vytautas trusted two women with his realm and life, that is his wife and his mother, respectively. Queen Brigita, in a red dress, with the pale skin, silver gold hair and purple eyes of a true blooded Ojeras looked to her husband. “These outsiders will become interlopers if we allow it.”

King Vytauas scowled. The King of Liegalla was a large man, three years younger than his wife at 38 years old, with the body and temperament of a raging bear. His skin was fair and his thick beard and hair the same pale silvery blond of his wife, though instead of the bright purple eyes of his father, the late King Vytauas III, he had the decidedly common looking brown eyes of his mother. He slammed a fist on the table.

“I have never bothered in their affairs,” growled King Vytauas, “why do they seek to interfere in my own?”

“Why?,” raised the soft voice of Archbishop Mecislovas, He too was of Ojeras blood, though a distant relation only through the female line and even then as an illegitimate son of a long dead disgraced princess. He had been given to the Church it was said, in as to repay for the sins of his parents. Forever a reminder to the king of what could have happened to him had things been different.

“Perhaps,” the archbishop continued, “because your soldiers murdered a half a dozen people in a church.”

“A Protestant church,” said Queen Brigita. She declared at the archbishop. “Heretics. Condemn to hell by the ruling of the Faith.”

The archbishop let out an exasperated sigh. “The era of the inquisition is over, Your Majesty, the Faith—“

“Perhaps it shouldn’t be,” snapped the queen. “These we would not have these protesters in the streets.”

“The scripture believes you should love thy neighbor, that includes those whose beliefs—“

“The Law says otherwise.”

“Enough!” Vytautas’ fist hit the table again, startling the two to a stop. “I couldn’t care less what God they believe in.” The very concept of there being a god was one that had never truly agreed with him, even if official he was a loyal Catholic. “I care that they are disobeying me, they’re king! I will not abide traitors!” He clicked his tongue. “I did not order those men to fire on a church.”

“A court martial could help.” said General Juozas, the queen’s older brother and the head of the military. He was a refined man, sharply dressed in his decorated military uniform. Another Ojeras, with the white-blonde hair and purple eyes like amethyst. He stared straight ahead, not looking directly at the king. “A gesture to appease the public.”

“The public should seek to appease me!”

“The international community then,” said the general, finally looking to King Vytauas.

“That would be yielding,” said the queen.

“It would show that the king does not approve of the slaughter of his own people?”

“And anger the military,” said Vincas Riauba, the king’s minister of the economy. “They did what they did in the king’s name. How would it look to see him turn them.” Riauba was a short bald man, and amongst the few non-Ojeras at the table. He looked to General Jouzas, eying the royal with suspicion. “His Majesty is right. We shouldn’t be appeasing anyone. This Liegalla. The Law is the Law. And those who break it must be broken against it.”

“Finally,” Vytautas said, rising from his seat. Ashe did the others followed suit. “Someone who speaks with sense.”

“Your Majesty,” General Juozas shook his head.

“Order the city of Rzhev under martial law until these rioters are dealt with,” the king said before the general could get another word out. There is to be a curfew. Anyone out past six will be held as a traitor breaking the law. And there is but one way to handle traitors. Do you understand, General?”

General Juozas looked as if he wished to protest, but he only bowed. King Vytautas looked to Riaubas.

“Draft a statement.”

Rzhev, Liegalla present time,
Emma Gilchrist, a seasoned Chandelian News Network (CNN) TV journalist, and her trusted cameraman, Wilson Bond, found themselves amidst the turmoil in Liegalla, a small flat nation ruled by the iron fist of King Vytautas IV from House Ojeras. The situation had deteriorated under the current ruler, earning him the infamous nickname "Bastard King" whispered by his many enemies. The nation's economy crumbled, and poverty spread like wildfire as the king's absolutism led to widespread suppression. The people suffered, their voices silenced by scars and missing tongues, reminders of their futile attempts to speak out against the king. As Emma and Wilson delved deeper into the heart of Liegalla, they witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of the king's tyrannical reign. The tipping point arrived with the mandatory draft of Liegalla's young men into the Royal Army. One courageous young man, Dalius Jonytis, refused to serve under the soldiers who had terrorized his family. In a moment of desperation, he attacked and killed his senior officer, triggering a manhunt. Dalius, along with six other deserters, sought sanctuary within the walls of Holy Trinity Church, protected by the ancient right of sanctuary exercised by Deacon Ambraziejus Pauliukevicius.

However, the army's thirst for power disregarded the sanctity of the church. They stormed in and mercilessly opened fire, leaving a trail of death in their wake. The streets of Rzhev exploded in protests and riots, fueled by years of pent-up anger. The wave of unrest quickly spread across the north, reigniting grievances and reopening old wounds. Amidst the chaos, Emma and Wilson braved the dangerous streets, capturing the scenes of defiance and dissent. They interviewed the brave individuals who dared to voice their anger, some calling for the overthrow of King Vytautas in favor of his exiled half-brother, the true heir to the throne. Louder voices began questioning the legitimacy of the monarchy itself, advocating for the complete dismantling of the Dragonfire Throne.

As Emma reported on the ground, she witnessed the embers of discontent grow brighter by the minute. The risk of the growing flames engulfing the nation loomed ominously. With each passing moment, she realized the importance of bringing these stories to the world, exposing the reality faced by the Liegallan people nowadays

Petrauskas Manor, Rzhev, Liegalla

The elderly Aurelijus Petrauskas, once serving as the minister of domestic affairs for King Vytauas II, nicknamed ‘the Reveller’ for his ostentatious parties, now looked on out over the streets of his home from his wicker basket chair. The elderly Petrauskas was ninety years of age, and had lived through the reign of every king of Liegalla, born in the waning days of Vytauas the Great, that illustrious ancestor of the present monarch. He had served Vytautas II during his brief reign, but after his death fallen out of royal favor until that of the coronation of Vytauas III when the old man had been extended an invitation. He wondered now if with this fourth Vytauas would he see his own death or that of the monarchy’s first?

Aurelijus had always been a more liberally minded man. Or at least he thought himself so. That had not stopped him from marrying a princess. Jadyga the Elder, as she had been called following the arrival of her niece of the same given name. This relation indeed made Aurelijus the grand-uncle of the Archbishop Mecislovas. But his wife’s death, for she had been caught up in the intrigues of palace politics by King Juozas, had cooled him to the royals. He had been happy to move to Rzhev, on the opposite end of the country, where the law of kings grew weaker and weaker.

So weak now the people dared to protest in the streets. What was the world coming to? He shook his head as he was joined by his eldest son, Dainius Petrauskas. A tall lanky man with thinning brown hair already crows feet at the corner of his eyes, Dainius followed his father’s gaze to the streets below. If he had been a younger man he would have joined them. He had no love for the royals, certainly not the Bastard King. Let them all be burned down and the throne broken apart. Dainius left his father’s side and stepped out onto the balcony.

Petrauskas Manor was a grand neoclassical manor. While designed with few flashy adornments, it’s marble facade, Doric columns and brass and steel railings around its balconies depicting a gryphon made it a sight to behold on the Main Street of the city. And it was from one of these balconies that Dainius Petrauskas called out:

“Freedom to the People! Freedom to Liegalla!”

The simple phrases caught like wildfire, sweeping over the city.

Main Street, Rzhev, Liegalla

“Freedom for the People!” roared past the lips of Stefanija Sakiene as she shouted through a makeshift megaphone, her forgotten groceries at her feet. Stefanija this morning had been but a simple house wife, who spent her day running errands for the house and making sure her sons stayed out of trouble. She had been grabbing groceries when the protests had started up again, and the soldiers arrived.

Colonel Joris Ulba had arrived with a hundred of his soldiers to take back control of the city.

“All loyal citizens are instructed to return to their homes immediately!” Colonel Ulba ordered. “Those who do not comply will be punished. Those who break the Law, will be broken by the Law!”

There had been hesitation. There had been fear. But then one man, a grotesque scare curling from his mouth up to where once there had been an ear had pushed to the fore front. “This!” He shouted directing to the scars on his face. “This is the Bastard King’s law! He knows no loyalty!”

This sparked a round of jeers and curses.

“Bastard King!” Shouted someone else. Then another, and another and another.

“You can’t cut all our tongues out you pigs!”

“He tried to kill his own brother,” some said.

“He murdered his own father!” Shouted another.

“Enough!” Colonel Ulba roared as his men raised their weapons, taking aim at the crowd. Stefanija had seen this and let out a cry, rushing to the front to face the colonel.

“You would shoot your own people?” Stefanija said, indignation and horror in her voice so sharp that it seemed to make the whole world fall silent. It took her a moment to realize it had. Even Colonel Ulba had seemed startled by her outburst. An average fair skinned middle aged woman in simple homespun clothes and a scarf around her head, she hardly looked a revolutionary. “We are your neighbors! Your friends, your family!”

Stefanija waged a finger at Colonel Ulba, then looked to the other soldiers. Most of them were young men, only a few years older than her own sons. Some were the same age as that poor Dalius Jonytis. “You are but boys,” she clicked her tongue in disapproval, “yet you stand here, pointing guns at us. How many of you do not have a brother, a sister, a cousin here?” She gesrurexto vast crowd behind her. “How many of you have mothers, and fathers? Tell me, would your mothers be able to look at you right know with pride?”

A soldier longer his gun. Then another. And another. It was a vast domino effect across the line as Colonel Ulba arched in fury. It was not all. But it was far too many. He ordered them to take aim. To fire, to shoot that blasted woman. But the numbers were against him. Colonel Ulba and the handful of soldiers still under his control had no choice but to retreat. For now at least as the crowd swirled around Stefanija Sakiene with new words over freedom.

Outskirts of Rzhev, Liegalla

Colonel Joris Ulba jumped out of the keep that had hastily carried him a few loyal men out of the city. The escape had been harrowing as rocks were thrown at the vehicle as it sped by. The entire city was in madness, and they were all disobeying the martial ordinances that had been in acted. The curfew was being trampled over as the sun set. Colonel Ulba curled his hands into fists. The city of Rzhev, as far as he was concerned, was in revolt.

“Send word to the general,” Ulba snapped at an aide. “And begin erecting barricades on all roads in and out of the city.”

As the sun slip beneath the horizon, the traitorous outcry was burning through the city, while outside it, the loyal soldiers of the king sealed it off in the dark.

Rzhev, Liegalla present time,
In the heart of Rzhev, Liegalla, chaos erupts as government forces violently disperse a peaceful assembly, leaving a trail of death and countless wounded. On the ground, CNN reporter Emma Gilchrist fearlessly reports the unfolding events, providing a raw and unfiltered account of the brutality. Meanwhile, back at the CNN TV Complex in Chandelier City, News Producer Ryan von Anton and News Presenter Susan Thurston anxiously monitor the live broadcast. The intensity in the newsroom rises as they work to provide support and guidance to Emma, ensuring she stays safe while delivering the news.

[Live CNN TV news broadcasting]

[Emma Gilchrist, CNN Reporter, reporting from Main Street, Rzhev, Liegalla]

Emma Gilchrist (EG): Good evening, Susan. I'm here on Main Street in Rzhev, Liegalla, where a peaceful assembly has turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy. Government forces have violently dispersed the protesters, resulting in multiple casualties and numerous injuries. Eyewitnesses report a horrifying scene of panic and fear.

Susan Thurston (ST): Emma, can you tell us more about what you're seeing on the ground?

EG: Susan, it's a chaotic situation here. Tear gas fills the air, and the sound of gunshots echoes through the streets. People are running, seeking shelter wherever they can. The violence erupted just moments ago, and it's clear that the situation has escalated rapidly.

ST: Have you been able to speak with any military officers about their actions?

EG: Unfortunately, Susan, our attempts to interview the military officers involved have been unsuccessful so far. They seem to be avoiding any contact with the media. We are committed to getting their side of the story and will continue our efforts.

ST: Emma, is there any confirmation on the number of casualties?

EG: I managed to speak with a doctor at a local hospital who asked to remain anonymous. The doctor confirmed that there are indeed casualties, though the exact numbers are still unknown at this time. It's a somber reminder of the human toll of this tragic event.

ST: Prior to this violent crackdown, were there any indications of tension or unrest in the area?

EG: Yes, Susan. The government had declared a curfew, starting from 6 pm until morning, throughout Rzhev. This announcement heightened the tension in the city, and it appears that the peaceful assembly was a response to the government's actions.

ST: Thank you, Emma, for your brave reporting. Please stay safe out there.

EG: Thank you, Susan. We will continue to bring you the latest updates as the situation unfolds here in Rzhev, Liegalla.

[The TV presenter transitions to another headline, leaving viewers with a sense of urgency and a call for further investigation into the government's actions in Liegalla.]

As the segment concludes, Susan Thurston, the TV presenter, transitions to another headline, but the impact of Emma's reporting lingers in the minds of viewers. The world watches, now aware of the human rights violations taking place in Liegalla, and the urgent need for change in the face of government brutality. With this, the focus shifts to another pressing news story, leaving viewers with a sense of urgency and a call for action. The CNN team remains committed to shedding light on the truth, ensuring that the voices of the oppressed are heard, and demanding accountability for the atrocities unfolding in Liegalla.

Coalition Palace, Parliament Chamber

"We must act now!" The voice of Minister Jonathan Carter roared into the air as he stood to address the assembly. "Establish a no fly zone and prepare our pilots to engage any large formations of the Monarchs forces approaching Rzhev." The chamber erupted with cries of support and damnation, the majority of support though. Chairman Visari stood and walked to the podium, "Gentlemen, are we children? Let calm reign your voices and we will address this issue as best we can. At the moment the 2nd Fleet advance party is approaching Liegalla with 2 carriers of military craft ready to launch. I believe the establishment of a no fly zone could be useful, but we need to account for anti air ability of the local military. So to this end the Office of the Chairman has today authorised the deployment of 40 Commando to deploy troops to Liegalla in small contingents to locate and neutralise enemy AA emplacements. As of today Gentlemen we are in a state of limited intervention in Liegalla. I ask for your votes to approve this action and to allow the free reign of office of the Chairman to escalate the situation further."

The COG Government voted and a resounding 239 voted to approve the Chairman power to escalate and de-escalate the situation in Liegalla. A total of 29 voted against and 3 abstained.

Liegalla waters, The 2nd Fleet

"Dom!" The cry filled the air as the commandos made for their RHIBs. "Hey Marcus." Sergeant Dominic Flowers answered grasping his fellow Sergeants hand in a vice like grip. "Look after yourself out there." Marcus said simply then returned to his own squad. Dom yelled something after his friend but it was lost in the noise of the launch deck. "Okay 1st Squad listen up!" Dominic yelled into the squad comm link as the RHIB took off into the sea water foam and froth spilling over them. "We got to help secure the local Hospital in Rzhev in case of government reprisal. Lancers on safety till we are engaged. If the local army engages us we can fire back, but try to avoid giving them a reason to engage us okay?"

As the Commandos left a Captain on the COG Ship Lusitania broadcast a message which would appear on all radio channels in Liegalla, "To the Government and People of Liegalla as of 0500 hours today, the Sibinaf Navy is imposing a now fly zone on your nation around the area of Rzhev. Any military jets or helicopters found in the air after 0530 will be engaged and forced to ground. We advise the Government of Liegalla to stop the killing and embrace a peaceful solution to the situation." With that five F18s took off from the Carrier Aureilian and took to patrolling the skies above Rzhev.

OOC: am I moving too fast? If so say and I'll slow down.

Rzhev, Liegalla present time,
[Live CNN TV news broadcasting at a conflict zone in Rzhev, Liegalla]

[Scene: CNN TV Complex, Chandelier City]

Mona Lighatrd (News Presenter): Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. We now take you live to our correspondent, Emma Gilchrist, who is reporting from the conflict zone in Rzhev, Liegalla. Emma, what's the situation on the ground?

[Scene: Rzhev, Liegalla]

Emma Gilchrist (CNN Reporter): Thanks, Mona. I'm here in Rzhev, where tensions are escalating rapidly. Just moments ago, we received breaking news that the Sibinaf armed forces have started moving their navy assets to Liegalla. This move comes as a response to the escalating conflict in the region.

[Scene: Rzhev, Liegalla, with Wilson Bond, the CNN TV Cameraman, capturing the surroundings]

Emma Gilchrist (CNN Reporter): Behind me, you can see the Sibinaf Navy imposing a no-fly zone around the area. They have deployed five F18 fighter jets to secure the airspace. It's a clear indication that they are taking this situation seriously. According to authentic sources, we have learned that Sibinaf's special force element, consisting of a commando force, has landed near Rzhev. Their objective is to protect the public and important facilities such as hospitals from any potential harm.

[Scene: Rzhev, Liegalla, showing signs of tension and urgency]

Emma Gilchrist: We have been trying to reach out to the Liegalla Government for a response, but so far, there has been no official statement. However, based on the intensifying hostilities, it's clear that we can expect further escalations in the coming hours.

[Scene: CNN TV Complex, Chandelier City]

Mona Lighatrd: Emma, can you provide any insight into the motives behind Sibinaf's military deployment in the region?

Emma Gilchrist: Mona, although we don't have the official details yet, it is widely believed that Sibinaf is concerned about the deteriorating security situation and wants to ensure the safety of its interests in Liegalla. With two carriers in their 2nd Fleet, they have a significant military presence in the area.

Mona Lighatrd: Is this part of the process of evacuating foreigners there, Emma?

Emma Gilchrist: Mona, the situation here in Liegalla is quite chaotic, and there are concerns for the safety of foreigners residing in the area. While there hasn't been an official announcement regarding the evacuation of foreigners yet, it's highly likely that diplomatic missions and international organizations are closely monitoring the situation and making preparations to ensure the safety of their citizens if the need arises. However, it's important to note that due to the escalating hostilities and the deployment of Sibinaf forces, the overall security situation is highly volatile. The primary objective at the moment is to protect the public and vital infrastructure, such as hospitals, as tensions continue to rise.

Mona Lighatrd: Thank you for the update, Emma. We'll keep a close eye on developments in Liegalla and any potential actions regarding the safety of foreigners. Stay safe out there.

Emma Gilchrist: Thank you, Mona. We'll continue to provide updates as the situation unfolds. Back to you in the studio.

[End of a storyline as TV presenter transitions to another headline]

OOC - Maybe slow it a little bit, and hear what the respond from the OP

Centutu, Rogoda

Lord Protector Hupenyu Gumede looked over the report that had been placed before him. It was concerning their neighbor to the north. Centutu, the capital of Rogoda sat on the southern shore of the firth, almost directly opposite across the waves from Vysla, the capital of Liegalla. While the two also shared a small land border, Rogoda had for many years maintained only the most polite of relations.

That was at least before the Liegallans started protesting in the streets of Rzhev, drawing more and more attention from the international community. This mounting tension had caught the attention of the Parliament. It was becoming an imperative in the eyes of many that Lord Protector Gumede needed to say something.

Lord Protector Gumede didn’t wish to directly oppose the regime of King Vytauas, questioning the legitimacy of the Liegallan government was not the business of his own government.
Instead the Lord Protector decided to release a statement:

“We are greatly troubled by the unsettling events that have recently unfolded in our neighboring state. The tragedy of death and violence in the city of Rzhev is deeply mourned. We call on observers of the international to remain calm and to strive towards aiding the Liegallan people recover and heal their wounds. Escalation and the spread of violence will only cause greater chaos and harm to those most vulnerable in a time when we need to stand together in order to improve the human condition.”

Ahmed Kabir: We just heard from our reporter, Emma Gilchrist, on the ground in Rzhev, about the Sibinaf armed forces moving their navy assets to Liegalla. What is your initial assessment of this situation?

Dr. Fara McDonald: The recent deployment of Sibinaf's navy assets to Liegalla signifies a significant escalation in the conflict. It is clear that Sibinaf views the situation as a serious threat to its interests, prompting a proactive response to protect its assets and secure the region. This deployment of F18 fighter jets to enforce a no-fly zone indicates the seriousness with which they are approaching this situation.

Ahmed Kabir: Absolutely, and our sources have also indicated the presence of a special force element in the region. What role do you think they will play?

Dr. Fara McDonald: The landing of a special force element, specifically a commando force, near Rzhev, suggests Sibinaf's intention to safeguard vital infrastructure and protect the civilian population. Such forces are typically trained for rapid response and counterterrorism operations, emphasizing the importance of protecting critical facilities like hospitals. It is a measure taken to mitigate potential harm caused by the conflict.

Ahmed Kabir: While we await official details, there are concerns for the safety of foreigners in Liegalla. Should we expect an evacuation of foreign nationals from the region?

Dr. Fara McDonald: It is crucial to prioritize the safety of foreign nationals during times of escalating conflict. Although no official announcement has been made regarding an evacuation, it is highly likely that diplomatic missions and international organizations are closely monitoring the situation. Contingency plans would be in place to ensure the safety of their citizens if the need arises. However, the volatile security situation and the rapid escalation of hostilities must be taken into account when considering any evacuation operations.

Ahmed Kabir: With Sibinaf's growing military presence and the absence of a response from the Liegalla Government, what potential outcomes or developments do you foresee?

Dr. Fara McDonald: The lack of response from the Liegalla Government indicates the complex and delicate nature of the situation. Given the increasing tensions and Sibinaf's military movements, it is probable that we will witness further hostilities in the region. The possibility of an intensification of the conflict and its broader implications cannot be ruled out, requiring careful diplomatic efforts to mitigate and de-escalate the situation.

Ahmed Kabir: Thank you, Dr. McDonald, for sharing your insights on the evolving situation in Liegalla. We will continue to monitor developments closely. That concludes our discussion for today. Join us next time on The Telescopes as we explore other complex global issues.

Tvirtove Palace, Vysla, Liegalla

General Juozas entered the throne room of the palace, to find King Vytauas IV seated alone on the Dragonfire Throne, a massive tall chair of barque gold framing and lined with blood red belt cushion.

“General,” the king’s voice boomed across the throne room as the king gripped the arm rest of his throne. “Would you care to explain to me why I have a foreign military daring to bare down on my kingdom? Why the largest city in my kingdom is screaming for my down fall?”

The steps of the General slowed to a stop. He looked at his nephew and remembered to maintain his face as a mask of calm. He knew the king had a temper, and now was not the time to lose his own.

“This is an outrageous affront by the Sibiu government, and—“

“They have threatened war!” Roared King Vytautas. “To invade my county!”

“Your Majesty, I did warn you that the matters in Rzhev would not be best handled by the military.”

“I am well aware of your hesitation, uncle.” King Vytauas said. He narrowed his brown eyes at him. Juozas himself had always held himself with power and authority. A prince in his own right, Vytautas was sure that there was a part of him that had always craved the throne. The son of a king. Brother of a king. Uncle a king. But yet in all these decades the throne has alluded him. And now, when those peasants called for Vytautas to be torn down from this throne that many had killed for, Juozas seemed to drag his feet. “That is why I have enlisted the help of your daughters to motivate you.”

The king’s words sent ice spikes up and down General Juozas’ back. His mask fell as horror grip him and he looked up at Vytauas.

“What have you done?”

Vytautas’ smile was cruel. “Princess Julita and Zieda are my honored guests here at the palace. And will remain here, for the duration of your absence.”

General Juozas swallow, but kept his back straight. “My absence?”

“You are heading to Rzhev,” the king stood from his throne, “and you are putting down his rebellion, once and for all. I do not care if you must put the entire city to the torch, end this, now!”

The General took a breath and then nodded. “And the Sibis and their military?”

“I do not fear them or their fleet or their jets. This is Liegalla. Any encroachment on our territory by land or sea will be seen as an immediate threat and dealt with overwhelming force.”

General Juozas pressed his lips together and nodded, bowing stiffly. He retreated as the King of Liegalla dismissed him, taking his seat his throne once again.

Sometime later General Juozas burst into his apartments in the palace, his heart pounding. He stepped into the room to find his wife, Princess Guoda with tears in her eyes. She whirled, rushing to him.

“He took them!” She shouted, hitting and clinging to her husband. Guoda too was an Ojeras, the youngest daughter of King Edgaras. Guoda had the tell-tell silver blond hair, fair skin and bright purple eyes of her late father. “Soldiers came in and just took them! That Bastard!”

“Hold your tongue,” Juozas hissed at his wife, holding her tight in his arms. He steadied her and made sure the doors were closed and they were alone. Even when he was sure, he went back to his wife in hushed tones. “With the way things are now, which suck talk, you are like to lose it if the wrong ears hear you.”

“I will not be frightened into submission by him,” Guoda hissed. “That monster. He has our daughters.”

“He won’t hurt them.”

“Like he didn’t hurt Dovydas? Or your brother?”

Juozas looked away. He knew well his wife’s hatred of Vytautas IV. There had been bad blood between the the lines of King Edgaras and King Juozas. Perhaps in a an attempt to heal the rift in the family, the daughters of Edgaras had married the sons of King Juozas. Gouda’s older half-sister Dziuginta had married the general’s older half brother, the late King Vytautas III. Prince Dovydas was thus twice over the couple’s nephew, and Princess Guoda had never forgiven Vytautas IV for his usurpation of her nephew and his and her sister’s forced exile. And there had long been rumors that Vytautas had even killed his own father in his ambition for the throne.

“We can not dwell on the past—“

“Only it is not the past, my love. It is all too much our present. It is happen, here and now, to our daughters.”

“I know, I know.” Juozas took his wife’s hand and let out a low shuddering breath of rage and terror. “I won’t let anything happen to them. I will put down this blasted rebellion and see them freed.”

Princess Guoda gripped her husband’s uniform, silent tears falling down her cheeks. “Do whatever you have to then.”

“I shall my love,” Juozas said, kissing his forehead. And then he was gone, off to Rzhev.

Left alone in her apartments, Princess Guoda wiped away her tears, though her rage still blazed inside of her. Her daughters were, for now, not like to be mistreated. Locked in the glided cage of the king’s household. They too were the Queen’s nieces, and she would not wish them harm. But given the queen would ultimately bend to the will of her husband. Should his temper flare. But Guoda was determined it would not come to that. Her husband’s place was with the army, putting down this blasted rebellion. So be it. Her place was here. For the palace could be just as deadly as a battlefield. And how my her love feel if he came back from his victory at Rzhev to the empty throne waiting for him?

“Do what you must, my love,” Guoda muttered to herself, “and I shall do what I must.”

Outskirts of Rzhev, Liegalla

The city was pitch black, the darkness broken up only by the light of fires here and there when General Juozas Ojeras arrived along with a thousands Royal soldiers.

Colonel Ulba had withdrawn his remaining forces out of Rzhev and successfully established a blockade around the port city with the aid of two destroyers that had arrived in the harbor, sealing it off. No one was going in or out of the city, by sea or land—the air was less concerned with as it lacked an airport in its entirety, a luxury reserved only for the King in the capital. In addition, Colonel Ulba had severed all utilities to the city. Water and electricity generated by the Svarus Dam a hundred miles west of the city had been cut off, plunging the city into chaos.

The protests had turned to riots as those who had tried to go about their days in peace, suddenly found grocery stores in short supply, and their homes darkened and unable to wash. Panic had spread, and looting had become rampant throughout the city ad bands of people smashed windows and set vehicles and building ablaze. It was madness. Rzhev, the largest city in the country with a population of over a quarter million people was in the grips of anarchy.

“What a mess,” General Juozas scoffed at the reports. Two hundred people were confirmed dead in the chaos, while many more times that were injured. Hospitals were being overrun and those that had back up generators were failing.

Citizens were advised to stay indoors and to lock their doors until the crisis had passed. Meanwhile many foreign nationals found themselves trapped with their hotels.

At General Juozas’ command, anti-aircraft fire was launched into the sky over Rzhev, initially as a warning shot while ground forces ordered the immediate evacuation of all foreign and commercial aircraft from over everything within a hundred mile radius of Rzhev on the orders of King Vytautas. This was, the message asserted, sovereign Liegallan territory and a designated no-fly zone. Those aircraft in the era had one hour to evacuate or risk destruction for violation Liegallan airspace in an action of self defense.

Of the coast, a patrol vessel sailed directly up to the Sibis vessels carrying five crew members and a cameraman and fired two warning shots before vis megaphone ordered the immediate depart of the military vessels from Liegallan waters.

Villa di Teranto, Kingdom of Caraintos

A courtier left from the home of the Princess Regent of Caraintos and her husband, the Duke of Terantos in the mid-hours of the morning. The situation of Liegalla was one that, a decade earlier wouldn’t have concerned Caraintos in the least. But now it existed at that precise nexus of low cost and great opportunity for the government of the Princess Regent. Tasa of Safar, the mother of the queen of Caraintos—whose name she ruled for—saw in Liegalla a geopolitical opportunity to gain influence on the Inland Sea, a body of water they had been locked out of thanks to their rivalry with Turanda who held the gates to it in their treacherous hands. This crisis in Rzhev, tragic as it may be, was also an opportunity. If the right person was in charge of Liegalla, with Caraintese support.

Caraintese Consulate, Republic of Rogoda

Cederick Ruthermont had been appointed to serve as the consul to Rogoda. Ruthermont, a middle aged man of impeccable reputation amongst the diplomatic corps in service to the previous king and the regency, he had been tasted with the Rogeno leg of the Princess Regent’s plans to gain a foot hold on the Inland Sea. Ruthermont sent a missive to the office of the Lord Protector of Rogoda, humbly requesting an appointment with the minister of foreign affairs in order to discuss a temporary agreement of right of travel.

Kihei, Nishikaigan

Ever sense the beginnings of the Liegallan crisis, royal government buildings in Kihei were abuzz with activity. The Nishi government had seen how Vytautas IV had been ruling his nation with an iron fist for some time now, and with the crisis rapidly unfolding in the city of Rzhev an opprotunity to depose the so-called "Bastard King" presented itself quite clearly.

While many in Parliment favored direct intervention as soon as possible in order to make a bold statement that the tyranny of Vytautas IV wouldn't be tolerated under any circumstances, Empress Yoshikari had a far more subtle plan, while she did support eventual intervention in Liegalla, she proposed a plan to provide economic aid to the more impoverished lands of the Liegallan kingdom so as to ensure local support in a potential conflict with the Kingdom.

After 3 days of furious debate in parliment the Empress's plan would be enacted, with shipments of humanitarian aid being loaded onto heavy transport helicopters for shipment to impoverished areas of Liegalla, with the largest supply drops being in the city of Rzhev.

Commando Team Echo, Sergeant Marcus Fenix
Inside Rzhev

"Johnny you see anything?" The squad radio link chirped. Johnny was sat three hundred metres up on a train bridge with a sniper rifle. "

Just some looters Sarge, should scarper when they see you."
"Roger, moving up."

The 8 man team had split into 2 fire teams and was moving to a hotel where they believed there to be a high concentration of Foreign nationals. Whilst the COG had made no official annoucement yet, several commando teams were tasked with securing and guarding foreign nationals till helicopters could fly in to provide evacuation of them. Marcus and his 3 Commandos stacked up on the door to the hotel and knocked. The looters Johnny had spotted had indeed scarpered when Marcus and his team arrived in the street with Blue jeans and black long sleeve shirts showing under their body armour and kit. "Hello?" A voice asked and opened the door slowly. Marcus held a finger to his lips indicating to keep quiet and handed the man who had opened the door a note. The man read it quickly then gestured for Marcus and his team to enter the building. "Thank you for coming, we have so many here who need help." The old man led the way to a dining room where several small gatherings of people could be seen. "Okay Doc get treating any wounded," Marcus said to the team medic. "Everyone we are Sibi Commandos we are here to evacuate you, our government will be making an announcement within the next 10 minutes."

The Anti Air shots flew past one of the F-18s and the pilot banked to avoid it. "Command this is Rooster I'm taking warning shots."
"Copy Rooster, maintain a patrol pattern, dispatching Coldstream and Hangman to your position to offer a show of force. Out." The two jets of Coldstream and Hangman came in low over the hills roaring their engines as they flew over the anti air position and gathered Liegallan troops. They broke hard and sped off shortly after whilst two more F 18s joined the no fly patrol over the city. An AWACs also arrived after a long oversea flight with several aerial refuels and started to direct the airspace traffic.

The call to withdraw was ignored.

Rzhev, Liegalla an evening (local time),
As the camera pans across the rugged landscape of Rzhev, Liegalla, the CNN reporter Emma Gilchrist stands ready with her microphone, while the experienced CNN cameraman Wilson Bond adjusts his equipment. They are about to provide a live report from the conflict zone.

Emma looks straight into the camera, her eyes filled with determination. "Good evening, Tina. We are here in Rzhev, Liegalla, where tensions have escalated over the past week. The city has been cut off from the outside world due to intense fighting, leaving the local population in dire need of humanitarian aid."

Behind Emma, Wilson captures the devastating scenes unfolding in the background, revealing damaged buildings, smoke billowing from distant explosions, and displaced civilians seeking shelter.

"As we speak, shipments of humanitarian aid are being worked on by several countries, including Nishikaigan. However, getting aid to the people of Rzhev has proven to be a daunting task," Emma continues, her voice echoing with empathy. "The ongoing clashes have made it difficult for relief organizations to reach those in need."

Suddenly, a loud noise interrupts the report, causing Emma and Wilson to look up. In the distance, they spot helicopters descending from the sky. Emma's face lights up with a mixture of hope and concern.

"There are recent developments, the Sibinaf military forces have been reported to have launched a Non-combatant Evacuation Operation here in Rzhev. They are working tirelessly to evacuate foreigners stranded in the city, ensuring their safety amidst the chaos."

Emma quickly explains, "This operation is only possible if a no-fly zone is established above the city, guaranteeing the safety of the rescue mission and those involved. The Sibinaf forces are currently coordinating with international partners to ensure the implementation of the no-fly zone."

As Emma delivers her report, Tina Spencer, the News Presenter, maintains a professional demeanor in the CNN TV Complex in Chandelier City. Sitting at the anchor desk, she listens intently to Emma's words, waiting for the perfect moment to segue into the next headline.

"Thank you, Emma, for that vivid update from Rzhev. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and bring you the latest developments as they unfold," Tina says, transitioning to another headline.

Meanwhile, in the bustling newsroom behind the scenes, News Producer Jess Randall coordinates the program flow, ensuring smooth transitions and keeping the team informed about any breaking news. She watches the live broadcast intently, making quick decisions and adjustments as needed to deliver the most accurate and up-to-date information to the viewers. All while remaining unseen by the viewers.

As the segment comes to a close, Tina moves on to the next headline, leaving Emma and Wilson to prepare for their next report. The CNN team remains dedicated to bringing the world the stories that matter, shedding light on the challenges faced by those caught in the midst of conflict and working to inspire positive change.

Rzhev, Liegalla

A CH-40 Tillamook transport helicopter closed in for another routine supply drop, the massive transport helicopter flying rather low along a major street, once it found a suitable place to land, the transport helicopter would drop off it's crucial cargo of food, water, medical equipment, and temporary shelters, the Nishi commandos that had been dropped off a day or so ago helping to coordinate the distribution of these crucial supplies to the civilian population of Rzhev.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Nishi commandos have also begun to conduct an evacuation of any Nishi citizens that had gotten caught up in the recent crisis, with UH-62 "Cedar" Utility Helicopters being utilized as fast transports to ferry Nishi civilians to waiting ships of the 16th Transport Fleet in order to be ferried back home to Nishikaigan.

17th Air Superiority Squadron Flight 2, somewhere in the skies above Rzhev

For Airman First Class Moriai Toyozo (Callsign Eagle-1), routine patrols like this were nothing new, to be frank despite what command had told them, there was a distinct lack of Liegallan aircraft in the area so things were rather calm, for now anyways. "Remember to check your radars, despite the calm we must remain vigilant" He'd remind the rest of the squadron over their linked radios, determined to not let a single Liegallan jet get past the no-fly zone that had been established

Swyft House, Caraintos

“Dovydas, wake yourself!”

Prince Dovydas rubbed his eyes as the sound of his mother’s voice burst into his room.

Queen Dowager Dziuginta, widow of the late King Vytautas was an imperious woman, quite the accomplishment in a family of women known for their intrigue and domineering positions of power. A purebred Ojeras, her father had been King Edgaras and her mother a granddaughter of Vytautas the Great. Royal blood coursed through her veins and it showed. Her skin was pale and light, her hair so light it was as white as snow. She wore it pulled back into a pearl encrusted caul. She was beautiful and regal, even at fifty five, her face framed by purple and gold jewelry. Her purple eyes were bright and as sharp as a hawk’s like cut amethyst. She entered the bedroom of her son in a storm of the gold and purple of her dress. She scoffed as she found him rising from his bed, draped only in the thin sheet shared between him and his companions.

Prince Dovydas had even more royal blood than his mother, all his grandparents being true Ojeras. His father had been Vytautas ‘the Handsome’ and he had inherited his father’s good looks twice over. The prince was a lean muscular built tall man, with the same snow white hair of his mother which fell long past his shoulders, and her amethyst eyes which still blinked out sleep. The prince could have been a model to rival that of the antiques, of David (of which name he shared) save for the scar on his throat. The reminder of the night his half-brother’s minions had slit his throat.

Prince Dovydas had been just seventeen when his father had suddenly died. It had been expected for his mother to take up the regency and rule for him in the months it would take to reach his eighteenth birthday. But Vytautas, his bastard born brother, thirteen years his senior had had other ideas, seizing control. The night of his coup, soldiers had burst into Dovydas’ bedroom and held him down, running a knife across his throat and leaving him to bleed out on the floor.

Dovydas signed What’s wrong?

“We have to go,” Dziuginta snapped, grabbing a loose shirt from the floor and throwing it in her son’s face.

This startled the girl in front of him. She let out a surprised squeak as she pulled the sheet to cover herself. The Queen dowager ignored her, her eyes focused on her son as he pulled the shirt over himself. Her son’s bedroom behavior was something she had never been totally approving off, she felt he’d too much inherited her husband’s lust. But a mother’s love and a Queen’s ambition could easily wash aside this minor inconvenience.

Go where? signed Prince Dovydas as behind him rose Vaisvydas Dudonis, awakened by the sudden tugging in the sheet.

Eight years ago, had it not been for the timely arrival of Vaisvydas, who had served as the Prince’s friend and whipping boy, Dovydas would have surely died. But Vaisvydas had entered the prince’s room and applied pressure on his wound long enough for Dziuginta to get them all out of the palace amidst the chaos and flee into exile. Dovydas’s injury had been shallow enough to save his life, but the damage to his larynx had been too great and left the heir to the Liegallan Throne permanently mute. The prince had learned to communicate with sign language, while Vaisvydas had become his constant companion and interpreter.

The Queen dowager tapped her foot impatiently as she way for the three to dress. The prince signed again, where are we going?

“I believe our exile here may so be at an end,” said Dziuginta. The Queen dowager and her son had been on the run from the murderous hands of Vytautas IV for years, and this had lead them to jump from nation to nation. For the last few years they had taken up residence as the guests of Joran Swyft in Caraintos, hoping to find some support for Dovydas’ rightful restoration to his throne. “We are off to meet Tasa of Safar.”

Outskirts of Rzhev, Liegalla

General Juozas let out somber huff as he watched the skyline of Rzhev. He had been duly informed of the situation. The Sibinaf had decided to ignore his warnings. Perhaps under different circumstances the General might have been more lenient. More understanding. This was not a situation he saw as requiring violence. But in those circumstances the king did not hold his daughters within the palace. And in this reality, that was all too much the case. And he had not the time, freedom or patience for such nonsense.

“Prepare the mortars, colonel,” ordered General Juozas.

“Yes sir,” said Colonel Ulba. There was a bit of his smile as he gave a nod to their subordinates.

As the sun had once again set amidst the days long siege on the largest city in Liegalla and night fell over the country, there were a chorus of booms as artillery fired in flashes of light. The shells arched across the sky, little more than a whistle. A quiet ring as General Juozas brought down his hammer on Rzhev.

Liegallan Waters, Liegalla

The Liegallan patrol boat refused to retreat. These were their waters, and they would not tolerate the imposition of the foreign military vessels. Having received the message from the Sibis vessel, it promptly ignored this condescending and insulting message. Instead it positioned itself in front of the vessel, daring them to attack Liegalla.

Petrauskas Manor, Rzhev, Liegalla

“Let’s get you to bed,” Dainius said as he helped his father up the steps to his bedroom. Despite his old age, Aurelijus had always refused to move out from his bedroom room, the great grand master room of the manor that looked out over their small well manicured garden room. Pride, Dainius was certain of it. Aurelijus patted his son on the shoulder as he entered the room and closed the door behind him. Dainius started heading back downstairs. He was half way down the steps when the world was blown apart.

Outside, Main Street erupted in a blast of fire, smoke, and shrapnel, it crashed into the front of Petrauskas Manor along with the row of luxurious homes. Cars were tossed through the air like the plaything of giants. One sedan erupted in a secondary explosion as it was flipped and crashed into a restaurant, long abandoned and ravaged by looters. Screams flooded through the streets as those who had been outside ran as the first explosion was followed relentlessly by more and more, running up and down the street and across the city.

In one location where the humanitarian aid drops had been delivered by Nishikaiganians in the city hundreds had gathered around the supplies only fire themselves caught into the meat grinder as explosion shook the square. There was cries and the sickening sound of buildings, bodies and bones breaking apart.

Stefanija Sakiene ran through the streets as as the crowds ran, scattering and crashing together as panic ruled the city, unable to find anywhere to find safety. She attempted to find a perch, to calm people, to direct them, only for her words to be drowned out by a explosion that threw her and everyone around her off their feet and sent them crashing against the ground. Stefanija stumbled, trying to get to her feet, but in the dark and in the roar of the explosions, she couldn’t get her bearings as people ran and tumbled, pushing her down beneath the stampede.

Eventually the roar of the artillery shell bombarding the city came to an end. How long it last, one could not tell, it could have been but twenty minutes, it might have been three hours. None could remember amidst the devastation. The worst of the attack had fallen upon the center city which lay in smoking ruins, all but leveled. That was not to say the rest of the city was spared. The death toll was yet unknown, the chaos was too intense as the streets were cleared leaving behind the broken bodies of those who had been killed or the many more who had been injured and were unable to move.

This was the scene the royal forces of the realm saw as they moved back into the city. Military jeeps and soldiers moved in. Securing the few key roadways and locations that had been spared from the attack, including the route to the docks, the mayoral office, prison hospitals and hotels. At General Juozas’ direction these few buildings, once fully under his authority were allowed to have access to water and electricity. And with this swift execution of ruthless violence, General Juozas had control of Rzhev.

Though in blood and life, it was yet to be seen at what cost.

Official Statement from General Juozas

In the name of His Majesty the King, the royal forces of the kingdom have valiantly secured control over the city of Rzhev following the anarchic rioting of traitors took hold of the city through the treachery of a sentiment of revolt. One thousand of the traitors, who over saw the destruction of property and the widespread theft of property by means of illegal assembly, criminal activity and looting, have been justly executed. Their criminal actions have lead to the injury of ten thousand people, currently being treated by military aid care installations at the direction of His Majesty.

Long Live King Vytauas IV!

Royal Palace Situation Room, Kihei, 3:13am Local Time

"THOSE FUCKING BASTARDS DID WHAT?!" Empress Yoshikari roared in anger, slamming her fist down on the ornately crafted table in front of her as a further expression of her pure unbridled anger, all while her cabinet attempted to calm her down.

Huffing a bit, Empress Yoshikari's voice would soon take on a cold, icy tone, hell-bent on revenge "Mobilize all of our forces, tell the 4th Naval Air Fleet that they are hereby formally authorized to strike Liegallan military targets at their discretion. Also, get me a press conference set up as soon as possible" She'd say before walking out of the room and heading to one of her favorite places in Kihei in an attempt to steady her nerves before the inevitable press conference on the horizon.

Royal Palace Conference Room 2, 4:13 pm Local Time

Empress Yoshikari made her way into the conference room, the fact she had donned her ceremonial royal armor and military uniform drawing much attention from the press, with a few questions being thrown around briefly before the Empress began her speech.

"As you all may very well be aware of, Liegallan forces under the command of a certain General Juozas have recently shelled the city of Rzhev, killing hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent civilians.

It is reported that several members of our royal armed forces, alongside many Nishi civilians may have been killed in the shelling and resultant panic as well. It is with these facts in mind, along with a unanimous vote of parliment earlier today, that I now formally announce that a state of war shall exist between the Constitutional Empire of Nishikaigan and the Kingdom of Liegalla."

4th Naval Air Fleet, Liegallan waters

To say that the situation onboard the ships of the 4th Naval Air Fleet was a hectic whirlwind of activity would be a massive understatement. Upon receiving the signal from Kihei, the men and women of the 4th Naval Air Fleet would steel their wills and prepare to avenge their fallen comrades. The Nagara Class Missile Cruiser HINMS Eien would be one of the first ships to open fire upon Liegallan forces, the Eien would soon be followed by it's comrades, with the Yamato launching her compliment of B-2N Sea Wing bombers and AF-18 Sea Darts, all loaded down with a plentiful amount of ordinance to exact vengeance upon Liegalla.

Skies above Rzhev

Dark shapes tore through the skies over Liegalla, AF-18 Sea Darts flying from the Supercarrier Yamato would unleash their devastating payloads on any Liegallan forces on the outskirts of Rzhev and across the nearby area.

Meanwhile B-20N Sea Wings would open their bomb bays, from which would drop long range standoff precision attack missiles which would proceed to strike at military targets across northern Liegalla.

[Camera pans to show the city in chaos, with smoke rising from buildings and people fleeing in fear]

Emma Gilchrist: It's a scene of utter chaos here, with reports of royal soldiers shelling their own people. Casualties are expected to be high as the violence escalates. We also get a information, just moments ago, General Juozas, the head of the Royal soldiers, arrived here in Rzhev.

[Camera captures images of injured civilians being carried away on stretchers]

Susan Thurston (News Presenter): What strategic measures has General Juozas implemented in Rzhev to address the potential vulnerability in the Royal soldiers' air dominance and ensure the security of key locations?

Emma Gilchrist: It appears that the Royal soldiers have not yet gained complete control over all dimensions of the battle. Notably, their fighter jets are nowhere to be seen, indicating a possible vulnerability in their air dominance. Military jeeps and soldiers are swiftly moving through the streets, securing key roadways and locations that have been spared from the attack. These include the route to the docks, the mayoral office, prison hospitals, and hotels. General Juozas has ordered that these buildings, once fully under his authority, be allowed access to water and electricity.

[Camera pans to show military jeeps patrolling the city]

Centutu, Rogoda

Lord Protector Gumede was shocked by the events unfolding in Northern Liegalla, finding the entire situation a disaster of failure of humanity and diplomacy. The overreaction of the Liegallan government was only outmatched by the overreactions of those who only sought to meddle in Liegallan affairs. The Lord Protector of Rogoda went before a press conference to expressed his nation’s view on the developing situation.

“We are greatly disheartened by the events that have unfolded in Northern Liegalla. In this time of unprecedented violence and protest of the people in the face of disagreement and policy of questioning effective as, this miscarriage of diplomacy and humanity is despicable. The Liegallan Government’s response to the events in Rzhev are unbalanced in their nature, and the destructive bombardment of the city leads us to seek an investigation into the necessity of force in this operation carried out by General Jouzas Ojeras.

We in Rogoda do not condemn the actions of the Liegallan Government, though we recognize the difficulties of restoring order, and hope to aid in the guidance to a greater more peaceful and equitable resolution to the domestic affairs of Liegalla lead by Liegallans for Liegallans. This key objective is one that seems to have been disregarded by the international community and nations seeking to invade and violate Liegalla and her people. This arrogance and disrespect by the action of foreign governments is unacceptable and condemned by the whole of the Rogeno government.

We call for the immediate ceasing of all hostilities in Northern Liegalla and the withdrawal of all non-Liegallan military assets from the area. Invaders, colonialist and imperialists have always been the enemies of Rogoda. We stand with our northern neighbors in their sovereign right as an independent nation to self determination and the domestic handling of their domestic affairs. Peace for Liegalla.”

Statement from the COG of Sibinaf

The actions taken by the Royal Government of Liegalla are reprehensible and cannot go unpunished. 20 of our men are reported as dead or wounded and a number of foreign nationals have been injured or killed in evacuation sites operated by the Sibinaf Military. At this moment the Coalition is unwilling to engage in direct action but is calling for international damnation of Liegallas military.

In turn the 3rd and 5th Fleet are establishing a naval blockade of Liegalla in an attempt to prevent overseas trade and we will also be expanding our no fly zone to incorporate other areas of Northern Liegalla.

To The Empress Yoshikari we will allow your jets to enter our no fly zone to conduct attacks on Liegalla, but will offer no support in this aggressive actions which threaten a nations independence and also threaten to increase civilian death toll. We are willing to mediate in a meeting between all the major powers, including Liegalla, to diplomatically find a solution to the problem. We know our nation has acted rashly but we wish to bring a more peaceful solution to the conflict zone now.
