On May 3rd 2023, Arseniy Dadchenko, Russian ambassador to Mexico, was shot dead by armed men in his Mexico City home. Robbery was the stated motive according to police, but the Russians knew better; several weeks prior to his assassination Dadchenko had been constantly followed, harassed, and sent threatening calls and letters after his personal info was leaked by hackers and posted online by pro-Ukraine activists. Furthermore the killers had also left a manifesto professing their opposition to the war in Ukraine.

The Russian government had demanded the prosecution and extradition of those responsible, but Mexican authorities refused citing freedom of speech and protest. With Ambassador Dadchenko now dead, Russian president Vladislav Menin repeated his demands with an ultimatum attached; Mexico had 48 hours to turn over the killers or Russia would be taking the law into its own hands.

Hours after the deadline passed and the Mexicans would still not co-operate, President Menin gave the order to launch an invasion. At the crack of dawn thousands of Russian army troops and Wagner Group operatives flooded into Mexico on military planes flying in from Cuba and Venezuela, and more on commandeered passenger flights from Central America; many were sleeper agents who had infiltrated those countries long ago.

They descended on Mexico City, storming the presidential palace and government buildings. Those who surrendered were captured and brought to Siberian prison camps; those who did not were shot. Then they launched a hail of missiles into the neighborhood where Ambassador Dadchenko's murderers lived, killing everyone inside. Having gained control of the capital, Russian troops swept across the country capturing and executing anyone they believed to be involved with the cartels.

In less than a day the Mexican state had fully capitulated without much resistance. The Russians set up an occupation government, the Federal Autonomous Republic of Russexico, and President Vladislav Menin broadcast a global statement to that effect.

"The Mexican people have had enough of their corrupt incompetent government and living at the mercy of organized criminals. That will change starting today. The heroic armed forces of the Russian Federation have liberated Mexico from under the yoke of terrorist groups and restored functioning law and justice to the country. Long live the Federal Autonomous Republic of Russexico!"

The entire staff of the Mexican embassy in Moscow were forced out and put on a deportation flight to the United States. The empty building was then blown up on live TV by Spetsnaz troops to wild cheering from onlookers, many waving Russian flags and stomping on Mexican ones. Rally cries and banners of "For Dadchenko!" and "Death to cartels!" could be heard and seen through the Russian capital.

The expensive superyachts, sports cars, and private jets of wealthy Mexican businessmen were seized and destroyed in similar fashion; after they were all dealt with, the government moved to expel all Mexican nationals from Russia and confiscate their property. Furthermore, Mexican music was immediately banned in Russia and Russian-occupied Mexico, especially gangster rap and narco ballads, with harsh prison sentences for anyone caught listening to it.
