News from the Archipelago

Following the recent activity purge, our number of roleplayers has gone down to 22. The population of the planet has spiked up to a whopping 1.659 billion people, with La Masia reclaiming its throne as the most populous nation in Talonia. However, Thorbia currently possesses the fastest growing economy and population, with visible gains in both departments. This may be caused by its mostly-abolishment of their natural beauty act, which converted forests in Thorbia Adytalia into a thriving network of cities that will boost many Thorbian industries.

Over in Monadia, the Union of Molovar, which had been in existence since the early 1900s, has collapsed due to the declaration of war handed to them by the Coalition of Canãveral (composed of La Masia, Prosperado, and Achinoam) and a long history of political and cultural divides. The collapse of Molovar would go on to cause a chain reaction, decimating Molovar's allies in the Concordat - the Second Markian Empire and Falconia - which subsequently caused their complete destruction. The Union has split into the nations of Velinozia, Vastiria, Kakyetska, Ashenland, and most notably Eskia, who seeks to establish itself as the dominant Molovarian state.

Eastward of the chaos in Molovar, Vladis has been establishing itself as a formidable military power in Western Monadia. Exercises were conducted by both the Vladisian army and navy, gifting much-need experience to the new recruits and strengthening the integrity of the military. This was followed by a short period of insurgency in the government, in which the old parliament was disbanded and the provisional government was nearly couped. Fortunately, the Vladisian government has managed to retake control and are now back on track.

In the northern reaches of Septentria, the tiny city-state of Forinthry has once again made an effort to detoxify the Septentrian air, this time succeeding and massively assisting its agricultural industry, with its mining and smithing industries being bolstered with extra funds and multiple victories against city-raiders, the future of the city looks bright.

It's not all going well, though. The Thorbian desire to expand eastward in Adytalia has unsettled many, most notably Vladis, Eskia, Cayo Perenico and Achinoam. Tensions are flaring once more and Talonia may once again be plunged into an unforgiving war.

FA Update

Since the beginning of March, four new embassies have been established with Catboy, Aurora, Lazarus, and Gaule. All embassies were constructed as a show of goodwill and support from Talonia.

I'm quite sure that the region can collectively agree that May has, up to now, been quite insignificant. We in the administration team were largely occupied with IRL or other matters and this led to a tiny dip in our population.

The same cannot be said for the roleplay, however. Great reforms have been made in Tcherkia, causing the nation to transition into an empire. A civil war has erupted in Viidak, with many nations taking sides and using the civil war as a chessboard for their affairs. Experts from Resomenn have drafted a rulebook for war, which has been signed by many nations. However, with terrorist groups appearing all over the world, it seems that this rulebook will have to be put into effect sooner or later.

Talonia has officially disassociated itself with the Miltia and will henceforth take no part or stance in any R/D operations. Embassies have been established with the New Western Atlantic, whom we seek to further relations with in the near future.

I hereby tender my resignation from the position of Grand Vizier, effective June 7th, 2023. It is with a mix of emotions that I make this decision, but I believe it is the right time for me to step down and allow new leadership to take charge.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve Talonia. Together, we have achieved significant milestones, implemented positive changes, and worked towards the betterment of our region. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished during my tenure - rising despite the oppression of the elite, constructing a sizeable community, building strong ties with our allies. However, personal circumstances and other commitments have led me to reevaluate my priorities, and I believe it is in the best interest of the region for someone else to assume the role of Grand Vizier. I have full confidence in the abilities of the dedicated individuals who comprise our government to continue serving the community with dedication and excellence. Effective immediately, the Grand Vizier Emeritus (IDEVK) will take over all of my duties and I will remain in the region as a foreign affairs advisor.

I look forward to witnessing the continued growth and success of Talonia under new leadership.

News from Talonia by The Kirinian Khaganate

War and chaos engulfs Northern Evereston as a group of separatists from the city of Veronto wreaks havoc across the nation. So far, the war has caused thousands to lose their lives, but perhaps more importantly has caused a great deal of damage to the nation's infrastructure. Although Evereston's 18th Infantry Brigade had heroically managed to liberate Veronto, the separatist group remains active, attacking Everestino army camps and recently hijacking an airplane headed towards the faraway nation of Oturyaland.

In the lands down under, the war between Misr and IDEVK has finally reaches its conclusion. The cost? Over 20,000 brave men lay dead in the dry, grimy soil. Misr would end up on top with the assistance of Vladis after 2 years of brutal fighting and eventually forced the Singal administration's hand into signing a treaty that would grant Misr independence. The international community hasn't quite caught up, though, as Misr remains relatively unrecognized. The collateral damage of the struggle came in the form of 77,000 civilian casualties, with a large percentage of which consisting of women and children. Minor insurgencies have also affected the nations of Cordnecia and Kambrosia, with the stabilities of many other nations in turmoil. The future looks uncertain.

However, although out-shadowed by the axis of war, many positive developments have also occurred, with an international railway being constructed by a multitude of nations led by Moltremacial. What's even better is the founding of the Talonian Sports Association, headed by the Kirinian Khaganate, which will certainly provide common folk with such much-needed entertainment (specifically football) in these trying times. The TSA Champions League is currently in progress in Eastern Kirin while the TSA World Cup is scheduled for 2026.

There is no bad without the good, and there is no good without the bad.

As your new Minister of Foreign Affairs, my ambition is to bond new diplomatic relations and nurture our current diplomatic relations. I seek to build a good reputation for Talonia on the international stage as a small community of roleplayers who only seek peace and allies to be in good company with.

Here is a bucket list of things I seek to realise during my term:

News from Talonia by Extremium and The Kirinian Khaganate

Though experiencing an activity purge that took out half the old roleplayers, the roleplay is currently bustling due to an impending armageddon. Read more below.

On May 29th, 2026, Dautovic publicly displayed their first intercontinental missiles - the D-1000 and the heavier sibling, the D-1200. These missile tests were supposed to take place on the 26th; however, they were postponed due to concerns about the weather. Between the official postponement and the official tests that were supposed to start, Alstov-On-Don and Vladis's governments tried their best to convince Dautovic not to launch missiles into their territory.

This spiked relations and made Vladis and Alstov work together against Dautovic's sudden persistence on the tests - starting to set up units at the borders and anti-air.
This entire situation prompted Vladis and Alstov-on-Don, undoubtedly the victims of this situation, to set up an alliance - the Northern Talonian Alliance. Askrieg stepped in and supported Dautovic's tests, making what's known as the Protector alliance. As a result, both sides started mobilizing their units - with Tarukistanate being in slight support of the Protector and West Vesteria, Hypia, Kirovian Tsardom, and Iana-Kashrapa standing side by side with the NTA.

On the 3rd of June, 2026, a video caught on right before being censored - showing a massive buildup of Dautovian soldiers on the border with Vladis, with Askrieg mobilizing multiple divisions towards the East of Dautovic.

Times had never been this tense in a good while.

Regional Update by Askrieg

Greetings, world of NationStates. It has been ha-while since the last regional update. Now written by the Sexiest Foreign Affairs Vizier on NS, Askrieg! Milestones after milestones were achieved by Talonia since the last update, which I will outline quickly below.

First and biggest, our transition to Frontier. It was a highly debated matter in the government, but now we are glad that we finally did. There was a period in the middle of March where Talonia was the Frontier with the most spawns in NS, which we dubbed Talonia as the “Frontier that Mogs.” Since then, we’ve been growing steadily in new nations and WA endorsements. We’ve gained 30 new WA nations and 20 more endorsements since our transition, pulling Talonia to the 19th highest region in terms of WA endorsements and 3rd in Frontier spawns. This is, as I quote IDEVK, the founder, “A shit-ton of WA nations and delegate endos.”

In Foreign Affairs, yours truly have been re-elected into the office of VoFA and enacted the “Eagle’s Wings” foreign policy. Where we exploit the pre-existing baseline from the previous FA Vizier and extend our circle of influence. We’ve opened five new embassies with our brand new friends. We are on track to reach beyond our goal of gaining half a dozen embassies before the end of the term. It is important to mention that these embassies are not just meaningless figureheads of empty promises but are also active. We had countless residents applying for dual citizenship to partake in our impressive national roleplay.

Speaking of, we had our first major RP update of the year. Now, controlled space exploration can be done by our players. To further encourage new players and attract more nations, the admin team is doing a brand new RP event. “Ortu Solis” simulates a solar storm that knocks out all electricity in Talonia, effectively knocking humanity back to the late 1700s, relying on carrier pigeons and transcontinental postmen to deliver the news. The Roleplayers are growing steadily with increased activity, indicated by a surge of RP memes and Tiktok edits, which is a reliable and foolproof indication of growing interest.

We hope that in the future Talonia can be better and stronger. We further plan Talonia to be a bastion of fun and inclusivity in NationStates, which we are well on course to realize.

This alliance, focusing (hehe) on forging cross-regional relationships from different communities, aims to be at the forefront of Frontierism and nurturing growing new nations into an inclusive, fun, and rich environment for them to prosper. This is further proof that Talonia is adamant in fostering a fun and inclusive playground for NationStates, and a portrait of what's to come in the future.

Join us, in our struggle to realize a better future for all players in NationStates, much more than what Max Barry could have ever dreamed. Stand hand in hand with us, in growing a community that is inclusive regardless of your identities or personal beliefs. Just before I founded Talonia I considered moving to a random region under a new identity, I was done with Kavonia and the people there and thought making a region of my own would be a failure anyway. And so I made the nation Graves, and decided to join a region through recruitment telegrams. I didn't make the nation with the intention of ending up in Concord and "infiltrating", nor did I even know Concord was basically The League but with a different name. But I did realize where I had ended up when I joined the discord server.

At that point I gave up on trying the new identity thing, and making a new region was an option again after some stuff that happened elsewhere, but I decided to stay in Concord to learn a few things. To see how well established regions were run. And I only sent that DM when I left because I felt guilty for lurking around in Concord. So no I wasn't on a recon mission.

If that's a good enough answer for you, I'll be expecting an apology for infiltrating Talonia in December of 2022.

Hardly a new identity, more clearly recon. Why else would you identify as a "foreigner" instead of someone trying something new?

In this message you claimed you didn't have any "intention" of spying, but that's kind of undercut by your actions. You never reached out to the Consulate privately saying you wanted to work under a new identity, you acted dishonestly and fraudulently, an abuse of our community's trust and a violation of its statutes.

You continue to post word salads instead of just owning up.

First of all, I'm not in charge, Moukden and Kirin is. I'm in the region keeping an eye on everything and most of what I've done has been general moderation in our discord.

I did now just say that I dropped the new identity idea when I figured out where I had ended up, so I'm not sure what the point is that you're trying to make. At least from my point of view.

I'd appreciate if you take my "word salads" with some seriousness, I'm explaining my perspective not trying to argue who could bullshit harder. I'll own up to what I've done and apologize if you think what I did was a violation of your community's trust.
