The Football Association of the Commonwealth of Baker Park, under license and with the authority of the Sarzonian Incorporated Football Federation, and in association with the governing body of Saterun, the FSF, present the 4th edition of the Jenna Raven Cup, also trading as the 17th Women's World Cup.
The FAC have been a strong supporter of opportunities for women's soccer at the international level and our late entrance as co-hosts of JRC 3/WWC 16 was part of that commitment; we see ourselves as caretakers of this event until such time as the SIFF re-assumes the sponsorship.
We will let their invitation speak for itself:
The world of women's football has not gotten nearly the attention in the multiverse of other competitions such as the World Cup, the Cup of Harmony, the DiBradini Cup, or other such competitions with a rich tradition. Fully realising that women are often integrated into men's teams or comprise some of the better teams in international football, the Incorporated Sarzonian Government believes there is still fertile ground for women to take centre stage on the footballing pitch.
Therefore, we are inviting the women's teams in the footballing multiverse to compete in this event. We would cordially welcome all of you to Sarzonia to ply your trades and take home the Lovennce Butler Trophy as champions of the Jenna Raven Cup!
The Particulars
This edition of the JRC/WWC will take place in Saterun and Baker Park, with a group stage followed by knockout rounds to establish a Champion.
Formats:
18 teams--3 groups of 6, with the top four of each group advancing, the highest placing teams getting a bye for the first round.
20 teams—4 groups of 5 with the top three per group advancing, group winners getting byes into the quarterfinal.
24 teams—4 groups of 6 with the top three per group moving on, same as above
32 teams—8 groups of 4, with best two per group making the knock-outs.
Formats above 32 teams would be adjusted accordingly.
SQIS formula with a daily RP bonus, and full day RP max bonus for a roster. As no ranks will be used RP bonus will be generous, with legitimate effort rewarded taking narrative, consistency and imagination into consideration.
tentative schedule
Signups open: March 30
Signups close: April 12
Tournament starts: April 18 (cutoffs every other day)
Tournament ends: May 4???
Other stuff
Puppets—preferably, we'd like to stick to one nation per user. If you wished to use this as an opportunity to use a puppet without entering a main nation, you would simply identify the master nation in your signup without need for a separate confirmation post.
EDIT: The concerns brought up require clarification which is bolded:
Please do not enter a main and a puppet “because you can”. Like the COH, the JRC/WWC should be focused on narrative rather than just having nations in the field to make up numbers.
Puppets entered alongside a main will be subject to cutting if there is a need to make numbers work based upon previous participation of both main and puppet; i.e., Nation X that enters, submits a roster and submits a few minimal effort RPs alongside Puppet X-1 that possibly rosters and has historically made almost no effort at RP will be judged against Nation Z that makes significant effort to RP and also puts a similar amount of work for Puppet Z-1 based on previous evidence.
AI Use—This is the first time that Baker Park has had to address this issue as a host, and we'd like to make something clear:
An upfront declaration of artificial assistance must be made, and the merits of the post will be judged fairly based on that admission. This is aimed at writing more than graphics, but it is clearly within the spirit to be honest about both.
Pandemic/Disease—A serious issue that still confronts RLStates, but respect the RP permissions of others; unless it has relevance to something within your nation, it's probably best to leave it out of NSSports.
Social Commentary—I think it is absolutely 100% important to stress this on behalf of Sarzonia, who we should never forget that this is his tournament and in his nation the rights of LBGTQ+ are well established:
also, any gender fluid or non-binary players are also welcome to compete. We just request that you designate such players in your rosters
refrain from making inflammatory statements on the subject; I was going to say that a clear warning disclaimer should be made, but on second thought I think it's too much of a hot button right now.
This OP serves as Baker Park's entry & shall be the thread to express your interest in entering; all questions, comments and other OOC issues should be directed to the Jenna Raven Cup Discussion Thread until such time that this thread is designated as the OOC thread for the JRC4/WWC17 tournament.
