Despite these successes there are many areas of Camelone which are still heavily underpopulated since the Age of Revolution, which in turn is beginning to effect the rest of the country that has more or less recovered already. To address this issue High King Cyneric II has expanded the scope and guidelines of the Chamber of Resettlement, with a healthy degree of support from both chambers of the Witenagemot. Now those who can apply to the Chamber of Resettlement include anyone who is a part of the wider Camelonean Diaspora with a variety of Settlement Contracts that they can sign. What all four of these Settlement Contracts have in common is that the head applicant must be conversational in Camelonean Gaelic, be a Christian, have never been a part of an anarchist, socialist, or communist group, live in their initial area of Camelone for a minimum of a year, and not engage in anti-monarchical activities. With the possibility of moving back to the Old Country for a new start, one in which the Camelonean government pays to relocate you, many in the Diaspora are now considering moving back to a land their ancestors, whether near or far, left. The ancient lands of Camelone now offer a new future to those willing to resettle and tame the nearly desolate old villages of the interior.
For this RP: Salutations and greetings one and all, I hope that you find this RP interesting and to make things slightly easier I shall explain some things. The people you will be roleplaying are members of the Camelonean Diaspora, either recent refugees from the Age of Revolution (1967-1988) or from those who left Camelone in the far past but could prove they had at least one ancestor who used to live in Camelone. Additionally the focus of this RP will be on a tiny fraction of the new immigrates to a small rural village named Galinstead in the western part of the Grand Duchy of Brenachta with a population around 70 and in need of repairs. This community is very rural and still hasn't been fully repopulated from the Civil War but still has connections with the outside world, though this is why Camelone is giving out land for free pretty much. Your characters again are from the Diaspora so I am not expecting your characters to act like "true Cameloneans" instead I am expecting the culture clash and want you guys to capitalize on it. Also those of you who have interacted with me a lot and have a decent grasp of the Cameloneans can telegram me and you can control other NPCs so just in case I have to disappear for a few days you all can continue. I hope you guys are interested and it shall be a grand ole time!
Rules:
1. OOC in the OOC and IC in the IC.
2. I am OP so my decisions are law, if you wish to dispute something reach out and we can talk about it.
3. No high ranking people, you will be playing as members of the Camelonean Diaspora immigrating to a small village in the interior.
4. No godmodding.
5. Limited violence, a brawl is fine but no killing and if you do so clear it with whoever you are doing it with and flesh out what you are going to do before writing.
6. Remember this is NS so keep it NS appropriate.
7. No one-liners, you have to RP with one another and that is hard to do if someone posts one-liners.
8. If you have read all of these rules please place "Give to me the parting glass" in your other section of the application.
Summary of the Settlement Contracts:
-Freeman Contract: Has the least amount of responsibilities and obligations but also the least amount of privileges, though still basic civil rights. According to this contract the applicant is arriving with what they can carry and will be enlisted in the Rebuilding Corps for the area they are assigned to as a common laborer, their income will be tax exempt and initial housing in village barracks will be provided. After several months as a freeman in good standing they are allowed to apply for a different contract. They are not allowed to vote in local elections or village meetings, they may speak as a representative of the RC if chosen by their peers, and they must alert the RC or the sheriff of their location if they are leaving the work sites or barracks and must abide by a curfew for the first few months unless given an exception by either the RC or the sheriff. Additionally they do not have to participate in the Sunday Levy or enlist in the militia.
-Freehold Contract: Similar to the freeman contract in many ways except for the fact that the applicant has taken on the responsibility of a homestead of some sort, please specify what type in your application. To support these folk the village has common farm equipment that is loaned free of charge, though they must apply to borrow the equipment, and they have voting rights in village meetings but can not stand for office until they upgrade their contract through time and good behavior. There will be no property taxes on the initial plot granted, though the homesteads are not guaranteed to have plumping but electricity is present and the Rebuilding Corp are working on it. For the Sunday Levy and militia service one male member of the household must be present unless circumstances prevent it. Once this contract is completed in good standing the applicant has the option to proceed to citizenship or continue as a freeholder, citizens have a few more taxes to pay.
-Guild Contract: Specialists such as engineers, doctors, tech specialists, and craftsmen of some sort who have signed on as junior officers of the Rebuilding Corps and in exchange are given a house in the village for them and their family. They have full political and civil rights within the confines of the village and with that the head of the household must be present for the Sunday Levy and militia service if there are no circumstances preventing them from doing so, or pay scutage to equip another member of the community. When the contract is completed in good standing the applicant will be given the option to proceed to the citizen contract or request a transfer within the Rebuilding Corps for another term of service, citizenship guaranteed at the completion of another term of service.
-Citizen Contract: The most responsibilities and obligations with the most privileges, with a down payment the paperwork for citizenship has already started and at the end of this contract the applicant and their family will be considered fully fledged citizens of the High Kingdom. They will be given a house in either the village or an already restored homestead, please specify in the application, and will be treated as full citizens of the village. Additionally prior contact would have been made with the local Reeve and Sheriff of Galinstead to determine which role the applicant can fill in the village when they arrive, guaranteeing a job on arrival. For the Sunday Levy and militia service the men of the household are expected to attend unless circumstances prevent them from attending.
