IC
September 24th, 2032.
Hundreds watched with bated breath as PM Eric Hadhill signed a new law, promising to steer the economy away from incoming self-destruction.
He never got the chance.
It was a dirty bomb. A simple thing - a bit of radium taped onto a conventional explosive, which was put at the foot of the Capital building. Within seconds, the nexus of Alfordshire was burning - emergency responders unable to salvage the situation. The attack had crippled all forms of government.
The perpetrators - whoever it was, then detonated a single nuclear bomb in Ulaki. It took a mere minute for the grand nexus of trade and finance to be consumed by nuclear fire, the once-grand city thrown down and humbled. Riots and looting filled the streets as hundreds made a mad-dash for the more rural areas, the international community looking on with shock and horror as a once grand nation was laid low by her own people.
With local forces unable to regain control of the situation, General Madden declared a state of Martial law. All travel had been halted as the sight of tanks and infantry fill the streets, putting down riots with extreme prejudice in a bid to restore order. Automatic orders were issued to every single aircraft across the state. Travel had been completely frozen.
It was the student. It was the student who dared to look the men in eyes and say a single, resolute word. "No." It was the student who hoisted the red banner into the sky, protesting against the military with unseen spite and rage. It was Ulaki that lit the fire, the entire province seceding from the husk of Alfordshire.
The Tribals followed. The heart of the nation was ripped out as it fell apart, the Military left powerless. Airstrike after airstrike rolled against secessionist hubs, with little to no effect.
Alfordshire has fully collapsed. The heart of the nation is gone.
The men and women of a once-great nation look up to the achievements of the past, and wonder if they will ever be achieved again.
Factions
Workers Confederation
It was the weathered hand of the worker. It was the hand of the worker which fueled the state of Alfordshire, and the hand of the worker which propelled the state into the annals of history. It was the worker who sacrificed for the state, the worker whom fueled the state.
No longer.
The Alfordshirian Bourgeoisie have overstayed their welcome, and the Proletariat rises from their slumber. Red banners fly from the street as the people march in unity against the oppresors of old.
The People have thrown off their chains. It will be seen if they can succeed in the dream of freedom, of communism.
Student Movement for Freedom and Liberty
Oh, liberty! How her people defiled her! She lies by the road-bank, watching the dream stumble and fail before her eyes. She watches as her once-unified people fall into the most brutal of wars. She watches as the Defenders of Liberty destroy the once-great torch, throwing down what made her great.
Yet, all hope is not lost. It was a group of students who took the torch, defiantly waving it in front of the oppressors. It was the student who seized the flag and carried it into the future, the flame of hope burning in their eyes.
As they march into the future, they do so with the blessings of Liberty. The ragtag group will return the torch, the flame to its home - the Alfordshirian People.
Havenist Statzen
The cries of a oppressed people filled the streets as they rose up, seizing a oppurtunity to create the first Havenist state on Elysia. It was something beautiful - a state for the Havenist, by the Havenist.
Forged out of the guns and fists of her people, the Havenist Statzen aims to create a sanctuary for the Havenist people. No longer will the whip of oppression buck the Havenist people - no, they will rule themselves.
Tricalen
Tricalen was formed by a confederation of natives, the natives seizing the opportunity to rise up from the oppressive Alfordshirian Government. The abuses of the March of 1821 and a slew of other atrocities have forced the native chiefs to secede from Alfordshire.
The nation has fallen into Civil War, giving the Tribals the perfect opportunity - the opportunity to rise up, and throw off their chains.
They have taken it with both hands. Time will tell if they succeed.
Ulaki Freedom Movement
Ulaki.. is a interesting state. Yanked from her fate by rough hands, she was annexed into the Alfordshire before she had a chance to truly prosper. Her people were put to work towards the new state, building Alfordshire block by block. A few decades later, Ulaki was the most influential province within Alfordshire.
The Status Quo is burning. The Ulakians no longer see the benefits behind this arrangement - the Alfordshirians were unable to provide protection, and hundreds paid the cost. Riots filled the streets as the Provincal Governor was overthrown - hung on the parapets of his own palace.
Ulaki has finally reclaimed it's fate.
Alfordshirian Military Command
The Constitution was defiled. The people had ripped the nation apart.
It took a single phone call, and history changed. The iron fist of Martial Law descended on the nation as the Alfordshirian Military attempted to keep the nation together. It was a temporary military government, one to guide the state through these tumultuous times.
The Alfordshirian Military Command has failed. With it, the last hope for any form of unified state has disappeared into the annals of history. Shootdowns of aircraft after aircraft and violations of civil rights rapidly ran thin as the people rose up, shattering the nation.
Alfordshirian Naval Command
A fleet without a home.
Stuck on patrol during the events of Bloody October, the Alfordshirian Navy could only watch as the nation ripped itself apart. They were powerless - unable to interfere in state affairs due to the sheer distance involved. Carrier groups were out of position, expeditionary groups storming some country thousands of miles away.
When they returned, no Admiral wanted to fight in the messy civil war. They have taken position in the Northern Isles, building up fortifications and coordinating with stationed squadrons. A desire for a new home fills every sailor - it remains to be seen if that will be fulfilled.

Notes
Phew, that was a lot. This RP aims to explore the reasons behind civil war and how it affects the people of Alfordshire. Themes of fanaticism and loss will feature throughout this RP, with a few main characters
I am for this to be a cohesive story with characters. This will be a character-based RP, with the effects of the civil war playing out throughout nations. You can play a intelligence operator, soldier, leader and a innumerable amount of other roles. For obvious reasons, military intervention will be capped at 50,000 men - this is not about the war, it is about the story. Of course, I would hope that a few would set up medical and humanitarian aid camps throughout the nation to interact with NPC and player characters.
Anyway, I digress. This should be fun and a high amount of skill is not required - we have start somewhere, after all. Of course, it is expected that you put a minimum amount of effort into your posts.
A map should be coming soon, before the release of the IC.
Rules
1. No godmodding. You know it when you see it.
2. No metagaming.
3. Please, invest a minimum amount of effort into your posts. No one-liners, at least a paragraph.
4. Interventions are capped at 50,000 men. Logistics must be RPed - it may seem boring, but those posts are perfect to develop characters.
