The Land of the Setting Sun-ICF-ONLY-MEMBERS ONLY

The Land of The Setting Sun

An Original ICF RP

In the East

It is the year 2035 and the increased tensions of the previous decade have started to dwindle. Major players in the region, notably the Federation of Siberian and Asian States, and The Republic of Former Asian Colonies have agreed to numerous non-aggression pacts after the Okinawan conflict of 2026. While the people of the RFAC enjoy western civil liberties and support from politically aligned allies in North America, the FSAS is finding it hard to keep old friends and find new ones in a region that is finding itself more aligned with the nations of the West.

In the West

After mediating negotiations during the Okinawan Conflict, the Confederation of Appalack is enjoying a populist and semi-isolationist foreign and domestic policy. With former president Hubert Windsler winning re-election for the fourteenth time in 2030, he is leading his nation away from the chaos of international interference and closer to, in his own words, "A foreign and domestic policy that is not only good for the world but the people of this great Confederation". But with new powers arising in the west, will the Confederation maintain its more defensive stature or will they have to fight to maintain their supremacy in North America?

FY 2040 Project Projections

East China Sea and Yellow Sea High-Speed Tunnel

The proposed line expansions, Yellow Sea in Yellow and East China Sea in Red

Our team here at the DoEPI has consulted with two of the Nation's largest high-speed rail providers and numerous construction firms to produce this proposal for a multi-faceted rail expansion plan. This plan has been broken down into two phases:

-Yellow Sea Phase:
The initial project will break ground on a new rail connection from Weihai to Seoul. The new and more direct route will span 263 miles, a majority of which will be subterranean. The project calls for a 261-mile-long stretch of concrete tunnel which will have an average depth of 450 feet under a portion of the Yellow Sea. The new connection will boast a two-lane rail concept for rail traffic in both directions. The estimated cost of this phase is 5,000,000,000 FW.

-Nagasaki-Taipei Connection Phase:

This phase of our rail network expansion will provide a third option for citizens who travel between Taipei and Nagasaki. This major high-speed connection will offer a more affordable option over air travel and a faster option over ferries. Unlike the Yellow Sea expansion, this line will not be entirely subterranean though a majority of it will be. The new line will span 915 miles with 672 mi under the sea. Like the Yellow Sea line, this new expansion will sport a two-lane design. Unlike the YS like, however, this new express route will offer 20 new platforms with 6 new major stations, connecting our high-speed network with regional networks. The six major stations include ones in Taketomi, Miyakojima, Naha, Kagoshima, and Nagasaki. The estimated cost for this phase is 200,000,000,000 FW.

We expect these major rail connections to be finished by FY 2046 with a total estimated cost of 210,000,000,000 FW.

The second project we are proposing is a Fiber Optic communications expansion to our new Japanese island territories which will be made easier with the construction of our high-speed rail connections to those territories. We have reached out to the Nation's leading telecom company, Asia-Com, to help with this venture and the estimated cost is expected to be around 30,000,000 FW. The last project being submitted to the committee is a 5.8 Billion Federal Won airport construction and revitalization project with the staple of the project being the construction of a new international airport in Fukuoka. This project will bring all major international airports up-to-date with new runways, ground handling equipment, communications hardware, weather stations, and ATC facilities. We expect the completion of both projects by Q3 of FY 2045.

The positive economic impact of these major projects is enormous. This includes an estimated 50,000,000,000 FW of revenue increase from tourism and the use of public services and the creation of over 30,000 new manufacturing and construction jobs just from the private sector alone. And another estimated 4,000 public sector jobs will be created. Substantial investments have already been secured from Asia-Com, Seoul-Rail, Sun-Air, The Boring Company, and Naga-Rail.

We look forward to the approval of these major projects.
