The World Assembly,
Knowing that any sort of forests are being legally or illegally chopped down for the production of timber or to make space and that the logging industry is the main contributor to loss of forests.
Believing that major forested ecosystems should be protected by law and should be regularly checked upon along with its inhabitants/animal life, but the deforestation of small areas of forest can be allowed with strict government regulation.
Fully aware that the logging industry will take a major hit, causing logging and timber prices to go up, but have pre-planned solutions to this problem.
With the passing of this resolution, it will hereby;
1. Require that countries mandate a law restricting and protecting certain areas from logging. These include:
a. Rainforests as they are the habitat of millions of different species.
b. Public attractions and services (parks, national parks etc.) are not places for logging.
2. Requires the logging of endangered species of tree will become completely illegal. Anyone caught cutting down these trees will be given some sort of punishment. Acceptable punishments include:
a. one month of community service
b. 1000-2000 fine (in said nation's currency)
or
c: 1-2 years in prison (major logging and selling of wood/timber)
3. For any citizen or company that wants to chop down any trees in an area needs to show identification and proof that they have permission for the logging down of the area. For identification, the logger will need:
a. a logging license for a company/person (this is new and comes with this act)
b. a permit to be on the property
c. documentation saying that the government is OK with the logging
and
d. if the land is owned by someone, the person also needs to be OK with the logging
4. Mandate the creation of a new organization named the ‘International Forestation Regulation Organization’ (IFRO) will be created to enforce this resolution on an international scale.
5. Finally, a company fund project called 'The Logging Company Fund' aims to provide funds for the logging industry to recover from the major hit this resolution will cause on it. It will also aim to watch company logging amounts and will dictate how much funds a company may need and will also assign areas of forests for companies to log.
