At least it does for now. I have no idea whether they can fix this easily or if they're even interested in doing so. But I could rather easily increase the MV of my deck elevenfold within only a week:
For all I know, I'm not the first person to figure this out or using it. It's really easy though, all you need is:
1. A few copies of a card which has, in the best case, not many owners.
2. Enough friends or puppets to make a few deals with different pairs of sellers and buyers.
After a couple of those deals, the value of the card jumps up to the new value, which will mostly be 10, the highest price you can pay without paying the fee.
There are some points to keep in mind, of course:
- It takes a little planning and patience. You probably need a few puppets, at least, and get many copies of the same card that in the ebst case doesn't have too many other owners. The latter has become rather easy for a while after the start of season 3, because most cards only have a few owners and if you're willing to invest a little, you'll soon have the majority of copies of a certain card. For now.
- As long as there aren't so many inflated cards, active deflation could easily make the MV of a deck drop quickly again. This is why I encourage you to flood the market with thousands of cards inflated to values somewhere between 7-10.
- To do it effectively, you'll sooner or later have to take the risk and inflate cards with many owners. That means it gets more likely that others undercut your trade and "steal" the money. I had enough bank to simply pay it, make another bid for my own card and be happy about receiving another copy of the card I was just inflating. If you don't have the bank, you have to be more cautious. Otherwise it's an investment that's quite worth it. I got undercut way fewer times than I had anticipated and altogether only paid about 100-200 bank for that - which is little compared to the increase of MV I achieved. And, of course, I also got another copy of the inflated card.
Anyway, after this little experiment, which already took way too long for something as petty as these cards, I'm done with all cards except of maybe my own. I'm going to round off my experiment now and then see what I do with my deck. I'll probably just let it rot in the corner. Or sell it.
But I wanted to share that you can still achieve quite a high MV of your deck and the golden badge of top 1%, if that matters to you. It's maybe even easier now, since you don't need to gain thousands of bank before inflating even makes sense.
