During a lunch break in Federal Hall’s cafeteria The Legislature, a political newspaper asked Representative Victoria Sanchez-Hernandez (P-New Foxhaven) about her opinions of Nicaragua’s government. Hernandez is a prominent figure in the People’s Party’s Democratic Socialist faction. She has supported bills requiring a democratic apparatus within the Jamesian workplace along with Arnold Summers’ proposal to make Jamesian companies give ownership of the company to the workers. When asked about Nicaragua’s government, she denounced it. She cited that “Nicaragua’s government is rated as an authoritarian regime on the Democracy Index and that the government under Ortega has suppressed civil liberties in Nicaragua.” She reaffirmed her commitment to “Democracy in the Jamesian workplace and the Jamesian economy along and most importantly the Jamesian government.” It is clear that even Democratic Socialists like she do not support Nicaragua.
