THE MELON CURTAIN ACHIEVE VICTORY ROYALE AT THE BATTLE OF WHATERLOO

On the 22nd of September, the nuclear faction knows as The Melon Curtain was announced to little fanfare. On the 26th of September, once the global nuclear apocalypse had concluded, the combined efforts of the three Melon Curtain factions (The OG Melon Curtain, Refugees, and you MAD bro?) had resulted in a combined score of 10,797 (5th highest if in one faction), and all had survived the nuclear blast to become three of the 42 factions with a positive score by the end of it all.

For the first three hours, The Melon Curtain was rather quiet. After realising that rogue nation Pineappleistania had ceased to exist months prior and there was no chance of sweet military revenge, it was getting quite boring in Eastern Ihvihdfbciusvdwjdbuegudbuwbdubwuibd front. The commanders were mostly waiting for an opportune to strike and were stockpiling, though slight carelessness through a shield operator "sleeping" led to the faction suffering from 34 radiation before things kicked into gear. Almost all at once, The Melon Curtain launched nuke after nuke after nuke at the Fascist Solidarity Axis, who had already been blitzed by other factions. During this time, shield producing nations decided to break away to form 'Refugees', in order to draw attention away from the crucial shield operators. After a pretty long time of launching nukes, the commanders were satisfied and decided to withdraw, confident that their job was done. Slowly, the Melon Curtain disbanded, achieving an impressive score of 4005, with all the strikes being targeted on the Fascist Solidarity Axis.

It only took a couple of hours before The Melon Curtain reformed. Realising that it wasn't over yet, the remaining Melon Curtain nations joined their allies in Refugees to restart nukes stockpiling. Wanting to keep staying below the radar, The Melon Curtain joined the volley against Hannah by The Minotaurs, racking up a lot of strikes. Seeing that Bits Beans were also under fire and their defences presumably down, The Melon Curtain couldn't not take the chance to bump off one more leaderboard competitor to bring the OG faction up into the top ten, so they launched a couple of nukes towards them. While initially a success, with critical commanding and shield-stockipiling nations being destroyed, soon the ante was raised when the faction started firing back, prompting The Melon Curtain to ironically evacuate Refugees and base their operations from East Iceland's you MAD bro?. Unfortunately, the Jurassic Park Abortion Clinic (now Jurassic Park Nuclear Launch Pad) couldn't leave in time and was obliterated. A moment of silence for our sauropod obstetricians would be appreciated.

Over at you MAD bro?, The Melon Curtain decided to stay under the radar again and focus on a singular task - wiping out the remaining nations in the Fascist Solidarity Axis. This was successful, in spite of last ditch attempts from nations shielding 100 incoming nukes with 2 or 3 shields, but was rather tedious. Then, other factions started to get more active, and soon many factions were facing rains of nuclear hellfire. Intercontinental Ballistic Pie, WE'RE ALL GOIN TO FUCKIN DIE, and Bawkie were all destroyed during volleys of nuclear warheads in which The Melon Curtain joined in, climbing up above the OG faction and up to a high of 7th. Soon after that, CARD began targeting the nations in you MAD bro?, so the commanders called it a day and evacuated everyone (for the third time) to the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, whom the shield-producers in The Melon Curtain had been periodically shielding. Sadly, we lost Honeydewopolis to the barrage of nukes. We will probably sell off our nuclear stockpile to some shady fences to raise funds to rebuild the capital.

All in all, a resounding success for the best fruit-based faction in NS, and hopefully more successes can follow the next time everyone decides to get together and nuke each other.
