What radioactive music are you listening in on?

A place for governments-in-exile, plucky survivors, unlucky survivors, the horrifically mutated, and other assorted characters to ride out the nuclear hellstorm until it's safe to go outside again.

What radioactive music are you listening in on?

Postby Dexterra » Tue Sep 20, 2022 6:42 pm

Wanna tune in even when the bombs are out? What's your bunker playlist?

(Special thank you to these two inspirations)

In a few days, the skies will glow - and whether you'll be on the front lines, stockpiling for your life or simply tossing back popcorn, beagles (for one) think just about everybody could benefit by spending the nuclear apocalypse in a little music festival. Come one, come all, and share any appropriate, thematic music in a place where yellow cake is for birthdays.

Some easy starters:

R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
Nena - 99 Luftballoons

Thank you in advance to any and all participants - be safe and courteous even before the sirens wail...

"We'll Meet Again" by Dame Vera Lynn, of course.

But as for my personal plans, "To Sleep! To Sleep!" by Ralph Vaughan Williams will suffice...

Other good suggestions:
"Like A Kennedy"--Joywave
"I'll Be Seeing You"--Cat Powers

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0WBAIIyYznWX3l3Zw24teA?si=c35aa3ab5fcf4178
i made this playlist for n-day last year and i still think it's great for it. i know it's not very conventional for an apocalypse, but, like, have you ever seen those videos of nuclear explosions w/ the best day ever song from spongebob played on top of them? there's something that's just Fitting about cheery upbeat music during total annihilation. and i put Thought into the tracklist here:

1. mr. blue sky, another great cheery song to put on as the apocalypse begins to get everyone into the mood
2. eye of the tiger, for that initial boost into focusing and organization
3. cum on feel the noize, because. uh. explosions. they're noisy.
4. thunderstruck, for similar Headbanging During Nuclear Apocalypse vibes
5. another one bites the dust, self explanatory
6. help!, because teamwork and shields are important :)
7. don't stop believing, because don't stop believing :) this is the middle song in the playlist, for when it's mid n-day and people are starting to get tired
8. livin' on a prayer, for things continuing to heat up and exhaustion claiming some. at some point it rlly does feel like livin on a prayer lmao
9. stayin alive, to encourage you to stay alive despite the above. you've heard of administering cpr to the tune of this song, how abt administering shields to the tune of this song?
10. hooked on a feeling, slight tonal shift but general continued good vibes for the people still hooked on nuking instead of going to bed
11. hold the line, also self explanatory. late in n-day is often when the most nukes are thrown and hence this is the time to Hold The Line
12. i'm still standing, for when you are still standing after holding the line
13. you're the best, for celebrating being the best after successfully holding the line
14. the final countdown, for the last few hours and eventual countdown to celebration of victory

obviously this playlist is 1 hr, not 24, so it's not synced in real time, but it's a roughly chronological order of good songs to play at different points during the day. i had soo much fun playing it 4 myself during CoTA last year (which i personally shamelessly enjoyed, rip to everyone who was not in CoTA but it was fun as fuck) and slapping the final countdown on the vc radio as n-day ended was great.

my thesis statement: skip the imagine dragons, and use iota's n-day playlist (tm) to motivate you & your troops into being the last ones standing. if at any point you do not survive a barrage of nukes simply quietly and shamefully turn the playlist off and pull up stairway to heaven by led zeppelin or some other song to mourn your death with.

As a hardcore Queen fan, I am obligated to say "Keep Yourself Alive" and "Another One Bites The Dust". Also "Epitaph" by King Crimson, "Blossom and Blood" by Midnight Oil, and "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie.

For me it's anything by Disclose as a good chunk of their songs are about the dangers of nuclear war. I believe the band they were inspired by Discharge made some songs about nuclear war too

I guess a specific song from Disclose would be Nuclear Explosion.

While I am nowhere near interested in the N-Day festivities, I would recommend a music piece made relevant by RL.

Behold: Turjan Aylahn's Tanc a Lelek

Synthpop/Electropop is a great genre for 80s fallout vibes, but that's just my opinion.
