Ah well, hopefully next time goes better. Would be a shame to not have a spooky RP in spooky month, though!

Yeah I didn’t see much interest but maybe people didn’t speak up and I didn’t give them enough time to post. This has been a creative project of mine for a while and I’d love to GM it on NS. So please, I’d like you to keep working on your character (my favorite part of running games). I’ll repost the OP, put up an ad and leave this open through Halloween. If you have any questions just let me know.

Sounds good to me! I had a duo in mind, actually, since I did see that that was allowed. Gonna get back to work on that ASAP.

Character Application
Name: George William Holmes
Age: 32
Appearance:(Image)
Personality: Holmes has an obsessive personality essentially. He works compulsively on all his cases and his deductive powers are phenomenal. He can get engulfed in periods of depression between cases and is known to take cocaine when he cannot stand the lack of activity. He has an in-depth knowledge of music and plays on a Stradivarius that he bought for a song in Tottenham. He is also known to run chemistry experiments in his spare time to the dismay of his landlady Mrs Hudson. He's not known to have had an intimate or romantic relationship with a woman. Here is, according to Dr London's account in A Scandal in Marseille, what he thought of women in general:
“They were admirable things for the observer – excellent for drawing the veil from men's motives and actions. But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results.”
Occupation: Consulting private detective
Skills: Knowledge of Literature - Holmes has spent various years and many hours reading the finest of the Europeans. Holmes is a dedicated reader of Classic European Literature and considers it to be a ‘‘defining part of the Western Civilisation’’.
Knowledge of Philosophy - Having spent hours debating the philosophical and logical meaning of life and why people behave the way they do Holmes is a genius regarding the human philosophy of life. He has spent hours studying Nietzsche, Dostoevsky, and Marcus Aurelius.
Knowledge of Politics - Holmes frequently tries to keep up with the current news and what's going on in the world as it is an important part of his profession. As one of the finest detectives to be ever produced he has investigated many Royal scandals such as the Oslo Affair and the Madrid Scandal among them which also provided him with a deep insight into Royal politics.
Knowledge of Chemistry - Holmes is earmarked student of Chemistry and uses his spare time to do experiments some of which at times have proven to be fatal and nearly resulted in his death. Holmes is always researching and experimenting trying to achieve innovations.
Musical Knowledge - Holmes had learnt to play the violin in his teenage years and can play many different masterpieces perfectly and beautifully. Sometimes when solving a case becomes too difficult or confusions flourish he plays his violin in solitude in deep thought until he can solve the puzzle in his mind.
Master Fighter - Holmes is an expert singlestick player, as well as a boxer and marksman. In his early 20s, Holmes participated in underground boxing clubs where he displayed the art of pugilism beautifully. Afterwards, he picked up other essential skills such as marksmanship which proved very useful for his dangerous cases.
Lawful- Holmes is an expert in British law and has studied Her Majesty's law very profoundly and word to word and he uses this knowledge from time to time.
Knowledge of Geology - Practical. Tells at a glance different soils from each other. ‘‘After walks, has shown me splashes upon his trousers, and told me by their colour and consistence in what part of London he had received them.’’ - Holmes to Dr London
Knowledge of Anatomy – Accurate, but unsystematic.
Knowledge of Botany – Variable. Well up in belladonna, opium, and poisons generally.
Holmesian deduction - Holmes observes the dress and attitude of his clients and suspects, noting skin marks (such as tattoos), contamination (such as ink stains or clay on boots), emotional state, and physical condition to deduce their origins and recent history. The style and state of wear of a person's clothes and personal items are also commonly relied on.
Forensic Science - The detective is particularly skilled in the analysis of trace evidence and other physical evidence, including latent prints (such as footprints, hoof prints, and shoe and tire impressions) to identify actions at a crime scene; using tobacco ashes and cigarette butts to identify criminals; handwriting analysis and graphology; comparing typewritten letters to expose a fraud, and analyzing small pieces of human remains to expose two murders.
Disguises - Holmes displays a strong aptitude for acting and disguising to gather evidence undercover he uses disguises so convincing that Dr London fails to recognise him.
Combat - Holmes often carries pistols with him to confront criminals. This includes primarily Glock-17 and Glock-19. As a gentleman, Holmes carries a stick or cane. He is described by London as an expert at singlestick and uses his cane often as a weapon. The detective possesses above-average strength.
"Few men were capable of greater muscular effort."- London
Holmes is an adept bare-knuckle fighter Holmes boxed while at university.

Background:George William English Holmes was born in 1968 in the great city of London. Holmes's father Sir Edward William English Holmes was a veteran of World War II and had seen the action in the European theatre and Pacific theatre. After the war, his father returned to Britain where he was Knighted by His Majesty, King George VI and was honoured with the prestigious and rare Victoria Cross for his exceptional services to the United Kingdom and the Empire. His father became involved in British politics and was elected as a member of the parliament in the House Of Commons. It was during these days that his father met a gorgeous French Mademoiselle named Sara Marie Dupont. Holmes's father courted Miss Dupont and eventually married her and settled in West London. In the 1960s Holmes's father lost the Parliamentary Elections to his Labour rival and eventually retired to his West London mansion. Sir Edward and Miss Dupont gave birth to their first child in 1962 Paul Holmes and after two years gave birth to two twins named Jean Pierre Marie and Harold English Holmes. Finally, in 1968 they gave birth to their fourth and final child George William English Holmes.
George Holmes's upbringing wasn't any different from his siblings. He went to a posh school and was a very bright and outstanding student with Mathematics, Science, and Arts being his strongholds. George was taught French, German, Russian, Italian and Spanish aside from English. When Holmes was 16 his mother passed away due to cancer and he was raised under the guidance of his father who taught him skills such as marksmanship, boxing, law and medical assistance in times of emergency. Holmes went to Oxford and Cambridge University where he acquired different degrees and performed exceptionally well. When he was 20 his father passed away which sent him into a state of shock and it didn't take him long to pursue a career as a detective. When he was in Cambridge he befriended Dr. Christopher London who served as a doctor in British Army during Malayan Emergency. Both lads went on multiple risky adventures spanning Europe and beyond. Holmes's office is on Baker Street, London
One early morning Holmes was sitting in his office. As usual, his office smelled of coffee and tobacco newspapers and different books were lying open on his table and one notebook had disturbing and mysterious pictures with different notes to it. Holmes took out his pipe and stuffed it with tobacco and lighted it. He took a big giant puff from his pipe and picked up the DailyMail newspaper. Began to read:
‘‘Quebec independentists narrowly lose a referendum for a mandate to negotiate independence from Canada’’; Well, that's interesting. I wonder what would happen next time, anyway next headline: ‘‘Tansu Çiller of DYP forms the new government of Turkey’’
Hmm, nice. Next: ‘‘Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz announced the discovery of 51 Pegasi b, the first confirmed extrasolar planet orbiting an ordinary main-sequence star.’’ Voila! Now that's the news. There are many like them out there just waiting to be discovered and explored which would take a long time if only our governments were ready to take concrete measures and focus the attention on real issues.
Holmes took another puff from his pipe and turned the page when he read something which caught his interest:
“WANTED: INQUIRING MINDS!!! TO INVESTIGATE DISAPPEARANCES IN SMALL TOWN!! $$$ROOM AND BOARD$$$ INCLUDED ON RANCH STYLE PROPERTY, $$ALL XPENSES PAID!!$$ CALL THIS NUMBER FOR AN INTERVIEW AND AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS!”
‘‘Hmm, I think it's finally time that I and London eventually visit the United States. Let me reach out to the London real quick.’’
Holmes stood up opened the door and came out of his office on the street. Baker Street was busy as usual with people going to their businesses. Holmes went to the nearest K6 and rang Dr. London
who picked up on the other side:
‘‘Dr. London here’’.
‘‘Good Morning, London!’’
‘‘Holmes’’?
‘‘Yes, it's me.’’
‘‘Ugh, what is it this time?’’
‘‘I was thinking it has been a long time since we had tea together why don't you come up and we can have a little chat.’’
‘‘Holmes, what is it? I know you aren't keen on having tea with me.’’
‘‘OK, listen I was reading today's newspaper when I came across this ad: “WANTED: INQUIRING MINDS!!! TO INVESTIGATE DISAPPEARANCES IN SMALL TOWN!! $$$ROOM AND BOARD$$$ INCLUDED ON RANCH STYLE PROPERTY, $$ALL XPENSES PAID!!$$ CALL THIS NUMBER FOR AN INTERVIEW AND AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS!”
‘‘And?’’
‘‘We need to investigate it, London. We can't let this opportunity get away from our hands.’’
‘‘Holmes, you know I can't come I'm with Mary. She'd be very angry if she found out.’’
‘‘Ah, C'mon chap! Convince Mary she's your wife plus she will understand.’’
‘‘Sorry, Holmes I can't. Listen, why don't you go across the Atlantic and asses the situation there and then we can see’’?
‘‘Hmm, London you'd lament passing this opportunity.’’
‘‘Don't worry old sport you go and perhaps by chance I'll join you.’’
In the next days Holmes packed his equipment and clothes and applied for a visa to the United States and started preparation for his next adventure and perhaps this time alone.
