Overview

Sylestone is a tropical island nation located in the far west of Esportiva, southwest of Cyborg Holland and north of the S.U.S Islands. The nation itself is home to roughly 30 million residents, made up of humans, the famed Sentient Objects of Kirkham, and even wild elves and sentient animals. The nation is one of the prime tourist destinations in the entirety of Esportiva, with a huge variety of attractions, including world-class beaches, rainforests, reefs, and even deserts. You can not forget Felton Island, located a couple of hours by ferry off the coast of Chamberley, where everywhere you look, there is something amazing to be seen in the island’s dense rainforest. Sylestone is also well-known for its efficient public transport system, with interconnecting railroad tracks and metro systems in all major cities, making the train the most predominant way of getting around for the majority of the population. Cars may not be banned at all, but they are rarely used and when they are, they are fuelled singularly by electric power. The economy is run by the tourism industry, as alluded to above, although the dairy industry is also significant in size, alongside others. Everything in the nation is run by renewable power, with massive solar and wind farms located in the grasslands of the island nation.

The humans of Sylestone are typically friendly, but are always looking for a way to pull a secret little prank on you. Many are unafraid and rush headlong into things, but most have a cautious side to them, too, although nigh on everyone is determined. For Sentient Objects, they may be slightly more reserved, but once you get to know them, they are certainly a joy to be around. The legal drinking age in Sylestone is 21.

Sylestone’s official classification may be a “Stone”, but in reality, that pretitle is basically synonymous with “Republic”. The nation’s president is a literal refrigerator and is a member of the Toilet Party, the party in power for the past fifteen years straight. The Toilet Party is famous for its pacifism - something the nation is generally famous for on the world stage -

The national animal of Sylestone is the Margaret; a human-like, hooded creature that is found sparingly across all parts of the island. Many sports players like to pray to the animal before they take the field, a superstition of which is universally renowned to give you good luck. Whether this is true or not remains questionable, but it certainly seems to somehow work, along with burning an amount of the national currency, the Rubber Chicken. This is another superstition many elite Sylestonean athletes insist on carrying out, and the amount of money burned depends on how vital the win must be. Fortunately, no one has gone broke just yet by doing this, but it’s only a matter of time.

Sylestone is roughly 700,000 km square and generally takes about 15-20 hours to travel by car from Dunkirk in the northwest to Kirkham in the southeast. However, it will only take two if travelling by aeroplane and ten if catching a train. A physical map of Sylestone can be found below and we hope you enjoy your stay in paradise.

Dangers

Sylestone may be beautiful, but like many tropical countries, it is not without its dangers. The nation is full of snakes, spiders, jellyfish, big cats and many other deadly predators. Also watch the Mwimbi Bimbi fruit that will kill if touched, let alone swallowed. It looks like an ordinary plum but with thorns on the stem. Remember to watch out for elves in the Melville Rainforest surrounding Emacuton and Chamberley, they will kill anyone who seems to cause disunity. And whatever you do, do not offend the sentient objects of Kirkham…

Q&A about the Sentient Objects of Kirkham

Q: How do the ovens cook their food?
A: Easy. All they need to do is get someone or something to put the food inside them (many have mechanical arms, etc.), and then they themselves can choose how to cook that food.

Q: Do the refrigerators own refrigerators themselves?
A: No. Duh.

Q: How do they reproduce?
A: Hmm, good question. In order for reproduction to occur, you need two Toilets, or two Fridges, or two whatever. Those two Objects then do stuff (which varies depending on the type), and the result is another Sentient Object!

Q: Do toilets need the toilet like humans do?
A: No. They’re toilets for a reason.

Q: Can a human own a Sentient Object or vice versa?
A: Do NOT even think about it. Sentient Objects and humans live on equal footing in Sylestone, and it is a huge crime to own one of the opposite… culture.

Q: How do Sentient Objects feel about non-sentient objects?
A: They laugh at them because they’re lesser beings. Well, not even beings at all, really.

Q: What happens if there is a power outage?
A: All Sentient Objects run on their own electricity (if they need it), so nothing.

Q: If you unplug an appliance and then plug it back in, is it a persistent conscious state?
A: See above answer.

Q: Is it torture to keep a broken Sentient Object operational?
A: When a Sentient Object breaks, it sometimes dies. Fortunately, this happens very rarely and when it does, the treatment is usually very quick.

Q: Is there intra-sentient racism?
A: No. All Sentient Objects live on equal footing.

Q: How do they see?
A: They have big googly eyes that help them see.

Q: What happens if you slowly exchange parts between Sentient Objects until they’re completely switched?
A: This cannot happen, it is physically impossible.

Q: Are there organs?
A: Yes. Sentient Objects have a brain-like organ somewhere in their body, which makes them sentient.

Q: Do Sentient Objects have brains?
A: Yes, see above.

Q: If a Sentient Object dies, do organ transplants occur?
A: Only if a Sentient Object of the same type requires a new brain-like organ.

Q: Do Sentient Objects feel pain?
A: Yes, although only in extreme circumstances.

Q: Does Sentient Object crime occur often?
A: Exceeding rarely, but it is not unheard of.

Q: What classic literature do Sentient Objects prefer? Do they admire the Mona Lisa or the Apple Lisa?
A: Er, depends on the Sentient Object, I guess.

Q: How do Sentient Objects walk around?
A: Depends. Many bounce around, but those that are lucky enough to have legs use them.

Q: How were the Sentient Objects created?
A: Ah, good question. So basically, no one knows. At one point in history following the colonisation of Sylestone, a big band of Sentient Objects decided to combine together for whatever reason and cast a “forgetfulness” spell on everyone in the nation, including themselves. It means that Sylestonean history is rich and thick going back 500 years, but no longer, as no one remembers what happened before then. This event is known as the Big Forget.

Q: How do strip clubs work in Kirkham?
A: Not even going to bother answering this, with respect to the inner Quebecois in all of us.

Grounds

Capital Stadium, Avondale
Capacity: 100,000
Style Modifier: +1
Location: Central Avondale
About: Located in the heart of Avondale, Capital Stadium is arguably Sylestone’s most prestigious sporting venue, the only contender the majestic Chamberley Institute of Sport stadium, seating a whopping 109,300 people. Every time Sylestone, the Capital Coyotes or Avondale Knights have a home match here, you can be guaranteed that a massive crowd will arrive to support their boys and girls, creating one of the best atmospheres in multiversal cricket. Being in the capital city, there are many non-cricket things to do, such as enjoy the sunny beaches, swim in the stunning reefs or take a visit to the world-class Avondale Zoo, the only place in the multiverse where a live Margaret has been captured. The pitch itself has a bit in it for everyone - rare for a Sylestonean pitch - so for pace bowlers, you’d better use it while you can.

MD3: Nova Anglicana vs Sylestone
Final

Chamberley Cricket Ground, Chamberley
Capacity: 86,000
Style Modifier: +2
Location: Inner east Chamberley
About: While Avondale’s Capital Stadium is undoubtedly the best ground in Sylestone, the Chamberley Cricket Ground comes close. A batters’ paradise, in a shorter format such as T20, it is integral to score big runs here for there is almost nothing for the bowlers. In the longer formats, the pitch often wears as the game goes onward, creating a little something for the spinners, but that is not the case in T20. Outside of cricket, Chamberley also offers spectacular reefs and is completely surrounded by the verdant, thick Melville rainforest and if that is not enough, feel free to take a trip to the nearby Felton Island. You will never forget it.

MD2: Tumbra vs Quebecois Acadiana
Semifinal 2 (B1 vs A2/B3)

Betham Cricket Ground, Betham
Capacity: 43,000
Style Modifier: -2
Location: South Betham
About: Located in Sylestone’s third-biggest city, Betham Cricket Ground is one of the nation’s most famous spinners’ paradises, the pitch always having something in it for the tweakers. Against high quality bowling, batters will find it tough to score runs but with boundaries edging on the smaller side, any mistake will be battered. Similar to Chamberley, Betham is surrounded by rainforest but unlike the western city, the BCG is located right on the edge of the water alongside the Bay Reserve and Merindah Stadium, forming a large, waterfront sporting complex. After games, it is very common to see the Carwell and Narradoon beaches stacked with people cooling off after an intense match of cricket.

MD1: Quebecois Acadiana vs South Newlandia
Semifinal 1 (A1 vs B2/A3)

Bolton Oval, Pesfield
Capacity: 50,000
Style Modifier: +3
Location: South Pesfield
About: It’s one of Sylestone’s most famous grounds in one of Sylestone’s most famous cities, but not for the reasons you might think. Bolton Oval is far from a massive stadium but being in the treetop city of Pesfield, the surrounding environment is certainly magnetic. One of the stadium’s most prominent features is a large oak tree halfway between the end of the bowlers’ run-up and the boundary, creating a rather poor and lazy “twelfth fielder”, but still a twelfth fielder nevertheless. It’s really the only advantage the bowlers get on a batters paradise without an inch of grass. Outside of the stadium, the entire population of Pesfield - over a million of them - live in treehouses. How they remain upright in tropical storms no one knows but one thing is for sure and that is that they are sturdy little things, just like the inhabitants.

MD4: Tumbra vs Cyborg Holland
3PPO

Carson Stadium, Cleorough
Capacity: 57,500
Style Modifier: -3
Location: North Cleorough
About: Out of Sylestone’s eight main cricket grounds, Cleorough’s Carson Stadium is almost unarguably the most favourable towards spin bowlers and with Sunlife Stadium and the BCG also there in the mix, that’s a big thing to say. The ground is also a pace bowlers’ hell despite the returns of Zefixaq Effervescentpyjamas in the Crash n’ Smash, barely anyone is able to get anything out of it. However, if you pitch the ball in the right areas, the amount of grip one can get is admirable and in a format such as T20, it will provide precious dot balls. However, like with the BCG, if the bowlers get it wrong, the short boundaries will certainly favour the batters at Carson Stadium.

MD1: Lozho vs Sylestone
Playoff Round 1 (A2 vs B3)

Sunlife Stadium, Halpenley
Capacity: 35,000
Style Modifier: -2
Location: Central Halpenley
About: Located smack bang in the centre of the desert city, Sunlife Stadium is the home of the Halpenley Lightning in the Crash n’ Smash and as a result, has a reputation for producing thrilling matches. On a pitch that once again favours spin bowling (yes, make sure you’ve picked spinners, people!) batters must be highly proactive to score runs but with shortish square boundaries, anything short will go the distance. Fielders will also swelter in the heat no matter the time of day, with temperatures often clipping 40C in the dry heat of the arid Sylestonean desert.

MD1: Natanians and Nosts vs Cyborg Holland
Playoff Round 2 (B2 vs A3)

Katham Oval, Katham
Capacity: 13,000
Style Modifier: -3
Location: North Katham
About: Anyone getting bored of these spin bowling paradises? Well, deal with it, because we have another here in Katham, just an hour northwest of Chamberley. However, Katham Oval does also have a bit in it for the quicks, with a little bit of up and down bounce making it a bit of a minefield. The ground is likely to host some low-scoring classics and outside of cricket, there are similar things to do to attractions in Chamberley, Katham’s sister city with ten times the population.

MD1: The Licentian Isles vs Nova Anglicana
MD5: Cyborg Holland vs Quebecois Acadiana

Jameson Oval, Dunkirk
Capacity: 31,200
Style Modifier: -1
Location: East Dunkirk
About: Another one? You’ve got to be kidding. But yes, your eyes do not lie. Dunkirk’s Jameson Oval is indeed another pitch with a bit in it for the spinners. However, with relatively large boundaries, there is lots of space for batters to squirt ones and twos against quality bowling and hence, games are not going to be as low-scoring as one might think. Located about an hour out of Avondale on the way to Chamberley, Dunkirk is famous for its agriculture and for those who are a bit more adventurous, the wild elves of the Melville rainforest are not that far away…

MD4: Esportivan Darmen vs Nova Anglicana
MD4: Quebecois Acadiana vs Natanians and Nosts

Flush Park, Kirkham
Capacity: 35,000
Style Modifier: 0
Location: Central Kirkham
About: Located next to Sentient Oval, Flush Park is Kirkham’s only cricketing venue but with a 35,000 capacity, is the city’s largest stadium. With so many tourists entering the city at all times of the year, the ground needs every one of those chairs for sporting events as Sentients and humans alike flock to watch the games. The pitch itself is even for everything - batting, spin and pace and hence, the ground is likely to play host to some very hard-fought games with scores around the 160 mark.

MD2: Sylestone vs The Licentian Isles
MD5: South Newlandia vs Tumbra

Greenhill Oval, Kirton
Capacity: 20,000
Style Modifier: +3
Location: Inner west Kirton
About: Located halfway between Avondale and Cleorough, Kirton is a city that may often forget exists, with its main draw factor being its football team, Mid-Capital. While the city does not leave people in awe in the same way that Chamberley, Avondale, Pesfield and Kirkham do, it is still a lovely place to be, with everything rather spacious and classy beaches right on the doorstep. As the name suggests, Greenhill Oval is also lovely, the ground located in a parkland with excellent scenery. With small boundaries and a good batting surface, expect plenty of runs.

MD2: Esportivan Darmen vs Lozho
MD5: Nova Anglicana vs Lozho

Freeman Oval, Freeman
Capacity: 25,000
Style Modifier: 0
Location: Central Freeman
About: One of Sylestone’s largest grounds, it is virtually impossible to hit sixes square of the wicket here at Freeman Oval, with the straight sections also numbering well over 70 metres. It makes up for a rather good batting pitch although, like almost all grounds in the nation, spinners can find a bit of assistance if they go searching for it. Freeman itself is a port city home to roughly 100,000 people and is the largest city in the state, named, uh, Freeman.

MD2: South Newlandia vs Natanians and Nosts
MD4: Lozho vs The Licentian Isles

Dodle Furnace, Dodle
Capacity: 25,000
Style Modifier: +2
Location: North Dodle
About: Located on the foothills of the mighty Cable Alps and on the shores of Lake Acondo, Dodle is home to roughly 300,000 people, bustling around the city. Home to the Scorching Hot Dodle cricket team, Dodle Furnace regularly experiences sell-outs, particularly when the Scorchers host the Pesfield Wasps in one of Sylestonean cricket’s most passionate domestic rivalries. With smallish boundaries and a good batting surface, expect runs to flow at the Furnace.

MD3: The Licentian Isles vs Esportivan Darmen
MD5: Sylestone vs Esportivan Darmen

Evergreen Arena, Emacuton
Capacity: 15,000
Style Modifier: +3
Location: West Emacuton
About: Up there with the Bolton Oval as contenders for Sylestone’s most batting-friendly ground, there is literally nothing in this pitch for the bowlers. In fact, some bowlers have said in the past that while at the Evergreen Arena, they enjoyed exploring the nearby Melville rainforest and meeting the wild, but somewhat friendly, elves located to the northwest of the city of 300,000. Located a little over halfway from Avondale to Chamberley, you do not have to travel very far to reach two of Sylestone’s most picturesque cities.

MD3: Cyborg Holland vs South Newlandia

Aerorum Oval, Brethonenil
Capacity: 2,000
Style Modifier: -3
Location: South Brethonenil
About: Why Aerorum Oval, with a capacity of 2,000, was chosen for the EspoT20 is relatively unknown, particularly with other, larger stadiums also submitting bids. A little over an hour out of Betham to the northeast, Brethonenil is one of Sylestone’s most arid places despite the rainforest not being too far away, hot sand often getting in the eyes of players and spectators at the ground alike. With a pitch that will turn heaps on command, scoring 150 is an excellent achievement here.

MD3: Natanians and Nosts vs Tumbra

Talk of recalling Senator Kathleen Nielsen increases as disapproval rating grows to 52%; potential candidates in by-election cautiously display interest

KINGSBURY: THE constitutional amendment and associated laws allowing for the recall of Senators and Members of Parliament have been introduced to either chamber of the Federal Parliament. Speculation is already brewing, however, that the first member of the Federal Parliament to be recalled under that measure will end up being one of Georgia's Senators — Kathleen Nielsen, a close ally of the former Conservative Party leader and founder of Vanguard Party Alan Spalko. Nielsen, who was present at the founding of the Vanguard Party, announced she would be leaving the Conservative Party and joining Spalko's self-styled "political movement", giving the Vanguard Party representation in Parliament.

The move by Nielsen to jump ship has not been received well by Georgians. The former MP for Ravenstoke's approval rating was already low following the breaking of the scandal that eventually would sink Spalko's leadership, but it has only gotten worse following the Internal Revenue Service's reveal that several other members of the Spalko's inner circle were also under investigation. Nielsen, who served as the head of the Conservative Party's media team throughout Spalko's nine-year tenure as leader, was amongst those named.

"I think she should go, immediately," said Evan, 67, from Nielsen's former constituency. "She's clearly unfit to be a Senator. The only problem is that they'd just replace her with someone from the same party." The Constitution currently requires that any departing member of the Senate — through death, resignation or otherwise — to be replaced with someone from the same electoral alliance, coalition or party. While this maintained the proportionality of the Senate as elected during the sexennial elections to the upper house of Tumbra's federal Parliament, critics have maintained that the system did not provide for changes in party alignment by a Senator, and proved a high barrier for independent candidates to the Senate. After plans for reforming the Constitution were unveiled by Minister of State Balkar Singh were revealed, several political parties confirmed that they were looking at pooling resources to organise a petition to recall Senator Nielsen.

"Senator Nielsen, in joining the Vanguard Party, has proven that she values her close ties to a disgraced former party leader more than the state of Georgia [...] The Vanguard Party, in its short history, has produced statements that have made many in Georgia worry about the the future of democracy in Tumbra, and Senator Nielsen's implicit endorsement of these statements by continuing her membership of the party is worth triggering a re-examination of her suitability to represent Georgia in the Senate," came a prepared press statement from the state Liberal Party. Similar statements were issued by the state Labour and Alliance parties.

Should the constitutional amendments and related laws pass, any petition to try and recall Senator Nielsen would require 1,037,192 signatures and a valid reason for her seat to be declared vacant. Litigation by the Nielsen camp would be likely to prevent her recall, though most analysts agree that Nielsen's political career is in serious jeopardy. Eugene Ziegler, a contributor and political analyst on Aurora News, essentially concluded that opposition from all major parties in the state would mean that the recall petition would almost certainly succeed. Nielsen's approval rating, in a poll released by ResPublica after her move to Vanguard, hit a new low of 8% — with a disapproval rating of 52%. The only question remaining, he said, would be who succeeds her — and several candidates have already cautiously made their intentions known. The state parties have not determined how they will select their nominees, but there is serious pressure from the state government and the federal government to allow constituents to vote for their nominee in semi-open primaries, where registered party members and people with no party affiliation would be allowed to vote in their party's primary. People with no party affiliations would only be allowed to vote in one primary.

Former Senator Caroline Hall, 48, of Labour has reportedly declared her intention to stand in any potential by-election; with little to no serious opposition in her way, she is seen as the frontrunner to win in a hypothetical Labour primary. The Liberal primary, however, has the potential to see a clash of political ideals in an early test for Prime Minister Stephen Williams' plans for the concept of "new federalism". Five-term MP for Hereford and known Williams ally, Daniel Rosenfield, 61, is intending to stand — but the looming shadow of the incumbent Premier of Georgia, Max Young, could prove to be a game-changer in that aspect. Young, 51, who vocally voiced his opposition to Minister of State Bernice Wyatt's condemnation of the state of Tumbran provincial finances along with the Labour Premier of Marcato Eileen Cho, has reportedly considered running on a platform of opposing any reforms to the existing relationship Straton has with the provincial governments. The Premier's office, meanwhile, offered no comment to any rumours floating around, with a prepared statement released emphasising Young's "commitment to serving Georgia and the Georgian people in any way possible."

William Obama-Hempstead and Dr Manafort Obama Still At Large

Sponsored By Lozho Premium Law Enforcement Services

Ghezhan, Lozho - It has been months since the coaching team of the West Barack and East Obama Cricket Team vanished in the middle of the ODI tournament, and there has still been no sign of the pair. Widely rumoured to have murdered an Obaman supporter of the cricket team, the warrants for their arrests are still outstanding.

As Dr Manafort Obama was intended to be part of the Lozhoan football and cricket teams (owing to his encyclopaedic sports medicinal knowledge and Lozhoan residency), so his sudden disappearance certainly made Lozhoan fans hoping to see their cricket team on the big stage nervous. Even worse, the team did not send any reserves to the tournament, making even the slightest of injuries disastrous.

Therefore, it was quite surprising to the Lozhoans when they defeated hosts on 2x EspoT20 champions Sylestone on the opening match. With Sylestone hoping to make it 3 for 3, they were the heavy favourites. Coach Zumba Zander even told the press that "they were hoping for a slim defeat at best".

In spite of Moz's tricky bowling which dismissed two Sylestoneans, the opponents managed to rack up an impressive 171 runs in their 20 overs. With the Lozho looking to be headed straight to defeat, Rick Zrumhammer came to the rescue. His powerful batting salvaged the game for the Lozhoans, managing to score 70 runs and not even being dismissed throughout the whole match. A particularly impressive batting performance by him was capped off with him scoring a 4, bringing Lozho up to 173 runs with almost 4 overs to go, handing the Sylestoneans a surprise defeat.

Next up, the Lozhoans will face Esportivan Darmen in what will also be a tricky match, but the team are in high spirits after their victory and will be more confident in obtaining a result from that game.
The Queendom of Lozho

Brought to you by West Barack and East Obama

Leaked texts stir up PP leadership race

Marian Bailey, Rutupiae Free Beacon

In a leadership race bombshell, leaked texts from Libertarian Party members appear to reveal front-runner for People's Party Leader Melody Savoy is a lot closer to her former party than previously was thought. Texts between MAE Gabriel Daviault and Deputy Peter Cross call her "as close to a Libertarian as we can get in the PP", speculate that "her 'liberalism' message is just code for getting closer to us, socially as well as economically", and predict that if she wins the leadership election and the prime minister job, "she'll help us tear the welfare state down to the studs." Daviault also said that Savoy "hated being an MAE, it was a demotion, and she just took it to build space and image between her and Ramsey", while Cross said that "[Libertarian Party of Quebec Leader] Delphine [Marchand] told [him] she'll only work with the PP if Savoy is the leader." These leaks incited uproar in the leadership race, led to condemnation from Libertarian Leader Cecil Buchanan, and provoked questions about a future Savoy-led government.

Reaction in the PP leadership race ranged from the diplomatic to the blistering. Kelly Goodman said, "Leaks like this really have no place in our campaign; still, I think it's concerning that Melody has not offered a concrete policy platform, so it's not surprising there is this much speculation. We need a clear direction in this party."

New Brunswick Premier Arsène Deslauriers turned up the heat a bit more, saying, "I don't like leaks, but the information is out there now, and I think it paints an unflattering picture. Our nation, our welfare state, is like a house. It needs a renovation, not to be 'torn down to the studs'. The new, popular centre we need to occupy is about creation, not destruction. My opponent shows a dangerous lack of regard for the many in our society who need a hand up, not a slap in the face."

The final competitor, former Justice Minister Edmund Baird let loose in typically bombastic style, calling Savoy "a Libertarian plant. This whole campaign has been nothing but cover for wealthy elites to remove one of the last obstacles to their radical cultural agenda. If Melody Savoy is elected, she'll twist the meaning of freedom into dangerous societal and cultural disorder, leaving families and traditional values adrift. I call on all loyal patriots to rally to my campaign and stop the welfare statists, the cultural relativists, and the moderate squishes from determining the direction of our true conservative party."

For her part, Savoy both decried the leaks and dismissed the information as immaterial, saying, "These leaks are clearly a last-ditch attempt to stop my candidacy, which has wide support from party membership, donors, and our allies in society. It's a reprehensible smear campaign. I left the Libertarian Party seven years ago because I was frustrated with the stale atmosphere, the fighting between zealots and realists, and I believed I could make an impact by bringing a young person's perspective to the major party of the right. I would be happy to work with Cecil Buchanan in a future government, but baseless speculation by members of his party about what I might do as PM have no place in our leadership race. If people want my platform, it's freedom. Order and respect for tradition, yes, but freedom is our main goal. Freedom from regulation for small business owners, freedom from crushing taxation for average families, and freedom to raise your kid how you like, without anyone pushing cultural agendas."

Libertarian leader Buchanan forcefully condemned both the leaks and the speculation by Daviault and Cross. He has summoned them to a closed-door meeting later this week where he is expected to re-assert his authority. For Buchanan, the image of the responsible governor, the financial manager, the prudent steward of the people's money, is key to his electoral strategy, and talks like this will undermine this. Delphine Marchand, for her part, denied that she won't work with the PP unless Savoy is elected leader, saying, "I value my relationship to my colleagues and to the People's Party. We're currently negotiating a program that will continue Quebec's economic dynamism, and that has nothing to do with who leads the national party."

However, Marchand and Savoy did grow up together in the Libertarian Party, and are reported to have continued in close contact in the years since Savoy joined the PP. Christophe Latour, failed candidate for Libertarian leadership, who has endorsed Edmund Baird, followed up with this salvo on Twii.tur: "Don't let these texts fool you. Savoy joined the PP for power. Her commitment to libertarian agenda is same as Chief Frog [Prime Minister Josephine Clark]: NONE! This is a false-flag designed to boost her. Edmund Baird's the only candidate willing to take on the administrative state and truly tear things down to the studs."

Following the reveal, the Progressive Justice Party joined in, calling Savoy "dangerously out of step with the mainstream of the nation." They conspicuously avoided blasting the Libertarians, as the PJP in Quebec is also engaged in negotiations with Marchand and the Libertarians on some sort of government in the province. No poll has yet been put in the field to see how this revelation has affected the race, but it does raise questions about what kind of leader Savoy would be and whether she could win a general election. The PP was undone by Michael Ramsey's unpalatability in a general election, despite his strong support among members and rock-solid right-wing bona fides. Edmund Baird is in much the same vein, but Savoy was thought to be well within the mainstream of the PP and thus acceptable to non-PP voters. If these texts change her image, then PP members might flock to Kelly Goodman or Arsène Deslauriers as less extreme alternatives. It's too soon to tell what's going on, but these texts have definitely introduced an element of uncertainty to what at times felt like a Savoy coronation.

Yes, You Heard That Right - We're Top Of The Group

Sponsored By Lozho's Best Bookies Inc

Freeman, Sylestone - You may be dreaming, but it's true. Lozho, a team who are making their international debut in the EspoT20, are top of the group, having beaten powerhouses such as The Licentian Isles and Sylestone along the way and are now sitting comfortably in first, having qualified for at least the playoff round.

It's a good time to be a Lozhoan cricket fan with lots of spirited performances from the plucky players. The man of the tournament so far is certainly Rick Zrumhammer, who has been putting in really good batting performances. He has been responsible for majority of the Lozhoan runs, and throughout the three games he has played in he has (very impressively) not been dismissed yet. A particular highlight was the final swing of the bat against The Licentian Isles in the latest match, which sent the ball flying straight towards the stands of the Freeman Ovaland thus winning the match.

Of course, he's not the only one who has been on form. Bowler Moz has really found his groove, and has played a good part in reducing the amount of runs scored by the opponents with his spinning throws. The wicketkeeper, Yap Dumfries, has also been stepping up with some great performances in the gloves. A special shoutout to the medical team though, who managed to nurse Dumfries back to peak condition following a knock in the game against Esportivan Darmen, ensuring the paperthin squad could be in tiptop shape for the game against The Licentian Isles.

The next game will hopefully be a fourth successive victory for the Pelicans as they face Nova Anglicana. Nova Anglicana have everything at stake, as a win could give them the edge they need to qualify for the playoffs over Sylestone and Esportivan Darmen. However, Lozho can only lose top place in the group if they get completely thrashed by almost 100 runs, so they're feeling a little relaxed.

Now... given that we're winning games consistently, why not place a bet or two with Lozho Best Bookies? We've got a wide variety of options, free bets, and even special perks! You don't even have to bet on cricket. Football, floorball, synchronised swimming... the possibilities are endless. Are you feeling lucky? We say yes. Please bet with us. Please do it. Just a Lozhon. All you need to make a million of them. I'll beg if you want to, just give us your money. Pretty please?

Londinium Democrat-sponsored People's Party Leadership Debate

Leaks from the Libertarian Party about Melody Savoy

Edmund Baird: "It just goes to show that my opponent cannot be trusted. She's got to have the best interests of the party in mind, and she can't do that by being in cahoots with another one, especially one whose definition of freedom includes the ability to smoke dope and let children decide to change the bodies God gave them."

Arsène Deslauriers: "As Premier of New Brunswick, I united not only the right, but also the centre, to pursue popular policies that made New Brunswick a leader among our provinces. The new, popular centre this party needs to pursue is not going to come from pandering to the most radical elements of any party, but rather from listening to the mainstream leaders and voters. Cecil Buchanan is a wonderful man and I applaud him for putting a stop to these irresponsible speculators and leakers and I look forward to working with him in government when I am prime minister."

Kelly Goodman: "Leaks have no place in our campaign. I urge the voters to make this contest about issues, not other parties, and I think I'm the candidate best equipped to lead our party into a better future. On Day 1 of my government, we will have a comprehensive plan to reform healthcare, education, welfare, and the business climate of this nation. That's a promise no other candidate can make right now."

Melody Savoy: "These are all overblown. I'm not responsible for what the Libertarian Party may think of me. I'm eager to work in government with them, as this party has for years, but being in a coalition with someone doesn't mean tossing your policies overboard and adopting theirs. I promise to be the best leader of this party and prime minister of this nation anyone's seen in quite a while. I'm quite confident that we can return to government and stop the stranglehold the radical left has on culture and government."

On the size of government, especially the welfare state

EB: "The government has become unrecognisable in its uncontrolled bloat. The vision of our founding, of a Christian nation that respected liberty, has been completely thrown away. Now we have bureaucrats, not only from Londinium, but from Esportiva, regulating our every move. The only cure are sweeping cuts, to restore the nimbleness of business and ensure that ordinary people can live their life free of government interference. The administrative state has to be cut down to size."

AD: "I do not think the question is welfare state yes or no, but what kind of welfare state. Do we want one that doles out excessively to those who choose not to work, or one that rewards work, rewards the family, and is truly a safety net rather than a gaping maw of dependence? The size of government needs to be reduced, yes, but more important than the size is what we spend our money on. Is it future-focused, green, likely to pay off, or is it more money shoveled towards special interests? A more active civil society and a slimmer, more focused government are the cure for our ills, not unrepentant spending or indiscriminate, slashing, cuts."

KG: "I agree that our government is too large. We ought to allow the private sector to provide more welfare guarantees, cheaper and more efficient than our government. Private companies ought to have a role in insurance, in cutting down on waiting times, in providing world-class care free of artificial government restraints. Workers' compensation can be handled fairly and efficiently by private companies as well. There are areas where we can make easy changes that keep our families protected while saving money and kicking those folks out who take advantage of the system. This in turn frees up more money to be returned to the people."

MS: "We have to get government out of the way of our freedom. I have no objection to offering cash to families, or to those down on their luck, but it is the taxes that finance them that irk me. We have excessively high, uncompetitive tax rates that fuel our out of control welfare spending. Let's cut taxes and allow employers to produce more jobs and more goods, give the working person a break, and give the welfare slug a good kick in the pants. As Prime Minister, I would make our government an advantage for business, not an obstacle."

On the Esportivan Union

EB: "It's a travesty. We've handed over sovereignty to an unaccountable institution that somehow manages to restrict business and fail to do anything about international conflict. We'd be better off withdrawing, and putting our money and sovereignty to good use. No good can come of the EU, much less the Espo."

AD: "As you know, I supported Nova Anglicana joining the Espo. I did it because it would make transactions between us and our Esportivan neighbors incredibly easier, meaning that our markets can expand massively. There's a whole world out there, and the Esportivan Union can help open it up to us. If we harmonise our taxes and regulations with other nations, then it's a snap to sell our amazing Nova Anglican products all over the world and lower prices for consumers here at home."

KG: "The Esportivan Union needs to be about commerce, not 'ever-closer union.' We must prioritise free trade between EU members and use the EU's influence as a bloc to open up more markets to Nova Anglican goods and services. We need the Assembly to make sure Nova Anglicana has a voice in Esportivan affairs, but we shouldn't be engaging beyond free trade and looking out for our own interests."

MS: "The Esportivan Union is about cautious engagement. As an MAE, I've seen firsthand the successes and failures of the EU. I was able to get the EU to agree to investigate women's rights abuses in Ethane, but I've also seen meetings adjourn for lack of attendance. We need to make the EU work for Nova Anglican interests, by creating a level playing field for citizens and businesses across the union. We shouldn't be subject to laws and regulations our neighbors and competitors aren't. The EU is a means, not an end, and the goal should always be the benefit of the Nova Anglican people."

On immigration and refugees

EB: "When this great nation began, yes, it began with immigration. And it began with a dream. A dream of a truly Christian, truly moral nation. That dream has been lost, nay, buried, in a flood of economic migrants. They aren't looking to assimilate or build on our Christian culture. They're looking to make a quick pound, undercutting our hardworking people and draining our social services. We need to take a serious look at reforming our immigration system, cutting down on economic migrants and prioritising assimilation. As for refugees, we should only take a small number and screen the hell out of them. I don't want economic migrants and terrorists slipping into our country and taking advantage of our good nature."

AD: "The prospect of change can be scary. We are tempted to view people we don't know as villains, and even encouraged in some cases. But Nova Anglicana is meant to be a light to the nations. We need to inspire those who desire freedom and wish to build an outstanding society to come to us. As prime minister, I would make it easier for companies to get the high-skilled immigrants they need and crack down on companies who use illegal labor or who use immigrants to avoid paying our own workers a fair wage. We cannot open the doors to everyone, but we must help those in need."

KG: "There are real benefits to immigration. Immigrants can provide labor, start businesses, and make important discoveries. But not all migrants are going to do that. We need immigrants that speak English or French, have real verifiable skills in areas we need, and believe in liberal democracy. I can see making tweaks to seasonal immigration or to visas for high-skilled workers; those are areas of need. But in general, we need to slow the pace of immigration and make sure that they can support themselves and help our nation. On refugees, we can take our fair share, but there are many other nations in the multiverse who can and should take more."

MS: "Nova Anglicana has always been an open nation. Immigrants have strengthened, even built this nation. But at the same time, our social services cannot keep up with the number of migrants who need help. Our schools are bursting at the seams because of the influx of migrant children. We must preserve our welfare state, and to do that, we need to limit immigration. We have to be judicious. We must balance our desire to promote freedom for all with our ability to support those who call Nova Anglicana home. My government would protect refugees and immigrants by making sure we have the ability to help them and do not simply condemn them to a life of poverty and living off welfare scraps."

One big policy idea they have

EB: "I pledge today that I will make Nova Anglicana a safer nation than it has been in a long time, and I'm going to do it in two ways. First, by making sure there are more police officers available to tackle homicides and drug smuggling, as well as establishing special counter-terrorism units, and by making sure they have the weapons and technology they need to stay ahead of criminals. Second, I propose to relax our antiquated gun laws that ensure that the only people who have guns are criminals. We should legalise semi-automatic rifles so that our law-abiding citizens can defend themselves from violent criminals. Rape, robbery, and murder will be a thing of the past when criminals realise that their would-be victims are more than capable of blowing them away."

AD: "I think our labor system isn't equipped for the 21st century. Too many people rely on an antiquated model of government unemployment, an antiquated model of education for work, and a system that fails to recognise the way the knowledge economy has transformed the world. I want to make it easier for people to save more of their own money for the hard times, easier for kids to get a skilled job right out of high school, and easier for businesses, unions, and civil society groups to take a larger role in our economy, in promoting growth and transforming the way we do business. We need more flexible benefits, more apprenticeships, and to get government back to promoting fair competition and equal opportunity, setting the rules of the markets, rather than being a guiding hand that pushes particular outcomes."

KG: "I think it's no secret that I think our healthcare system is in major need of reform. We have long waits, a government drowning under the weight of subsidies it pays, and a lack of innovation. These things can be fixed by the competition of the free market. For those vulnerable people and our elderly, we need to preserve a public health system. But for able-bodied adults, they should be able to choose whether or not to carry insurance, and private companies should have the ability to compete for people's business. When the market competes, prices go down, wait times go down, and quality of service goes up. By unleashing the private market, we can reward innovative and efficient companies and help consumers at the same time."

MS: "I think it's high time we stopped blocking the free market in hemp, cannabis, and cannabidiols. As Prime Minister, I would establish a framework for legal farming and medical use of these products. We are an agricultural powerhouse; it makes little sense for us to forego a major source of agricultural revenue and jobs that can also help some of our people who suffer from chronic pain. It might even let us reduce spending on disability benefits and the health system as cannabis-based medical solutions help people heal and recover. Even more important, the government should stay out of it. It has no place in this and can only complicate matters."

The reason voters should choose them as Party Leader

EB: "Michael Ramsey himself endorsed me. I'm the only one on this stage that can honestly say that I'll grab the bull by the horns and start fixing our government from day one. I'm the only one with the guts to take on the administrative state, gut its power, and return that sovereignty to the people. I will take on faceless bureaucrats that want to limit our every move for the cause of the month, and I'll slash taxes and spending so that more of your money stays in your pocket. If you want a real conservative, someone who isn't afraid to make the hard decisions and stand up for your interests, then you'll choose me to be the next Party Leader.

AD: "I'd like to point out that no one else on this stage has actually been in charge, has actually been the top dog. As Premier of New Brunswick, I understand the unique pressures and challenges that come with leadership. Under my stewardship, New Brunswick has been transformed from a progressive playground to a province where businesses know they can rely on the government to help them, not hurt them. I've delivered for the people by reducing taxes, investing in education and infrastructure, and protecting their rights and traditions. Choose me, and I'll lead our party to the new, popular centre and together, we'll smash the PJP and bring sensible, effective government back to Nova Anglicana."

KG: "I've been a CEO, a government minister, part of People's Party leadership, and an entrepreneur. There isn't anybody else here who brings the same combination of policy chops, leadership experience, and business acumen as I do. I promise that I'll make our government run like a well-oiled machine. I've been a CEO before and I'm prepared to be one again. I'll make sure the money we spend on our government is wisely invested and that the services it provides are top-notch. I'll get the government out of the way and let the free market show Jo Clark and all the other statists just how it's done. I've got the experience, I've got the skills, and I've got the ideas. Whatever you need, I've got it."

MS: "I have the leadership experience. I am Acting Leader and Deputy Leader. I've learned from Michael Ramsey what it takes to run a party and keep it on the straight and narrow, the conservative path. At the same time, I will bring youth and new ideas, fresh energy, to our party. I promise you that my north star is the freedom of the Nova Anglican people and I will do everything in my power to promote that freedom for everyone."

Nova Anglican team concludes Espo T20 competition with loss, heads held high

At first glance, the performance of the Nova Anglican national cricket team in the Espo T20 competition (1-0-3) might seem like a disappointment, especially considering they ended the competition with a loss to Lozho. But in fact, according to team captain Jalil Lakhani, the competition was a success. "This was our first multiversal competition and we played well against some experienced sides," said Lakhani. He pointed to the team's victory over Esportivan Darmen as a proud moment and one that demonstrated what they had learned: "It was our first-ever victory on the multiversal victory, which is always a good thing to say, but more importantly, we took what we learned from the Sylestone match and built on it."

In the previous match, the Nova Anglican team had batted second and were chasing Sylestone's total of 205 runs. Lakhani says tentative play was the reason they lost by 23 runs: "202 was a pretty strong result, especially given lower run-scoring tallies in previous matches. We should have been more cognizant of that; instead of trying to avoid losing wickets, we should have gone full-bore into the chase. We just ran out of balls at the end." But against Esportivan Darmen, the side adopted a more aggressive strategy, which ended with a victory. "Chasing 145 runs is a much more manageable total," said Lakhani, "but we still wanted to banish the kind of tentative play that lost us the match against Sylestone." The side worried less about losing wickets and more about scoring runs, with the result that multiple players batted for runs, including hitting several sixes. This eventually allowed them to come out on top with an astounding 28 balls remaining.

Lakhani also highlighted the team's solid play in their other two losses. "Against the Licentian Isles, the match literally came down to the last two balls. We actually led by one run with two balls to go, but the game-ending stroke just eluded us in the field, bouncing out of the boundary for a four. If we caught that instead, then it's all or nothing: one ball to go and needing two runs to win. Very competitive situation." Similarly, the match against Lozho also went down to the wire, with the corporation nation winning by three runs with three balls to go. Lakhani saw it as proof positive the team has good things ahead of it: "Even against Lozho, who was top of the group, we battled until the end. I think we can hold our own with any side in the world, and we certainly want to try in the future."

Lakhani certainly doesn't lack for confidence, and cricket is growing as a sport in Nova Anglicana. 4% of individuals now report it as their favorite sport, and while Nova Anglicana does not have an official professional league, there are semi-pro sides and NTN has recently acquired the rights to broadcast certain multiversal cricket matches in the nation. The growing South Asian population has promoted an interest in the sport, as reflected in the team. For now, the team can feel proud of their accomplishments and enjoy the rest of their time in Sylestone.

Not Clickbait: We're in the Final

Sponsored By NordVPN

Avondale, Sylestone - Here's a fun little fact of the day - Lozho has defeated Sylestone as many times in this competition as every other team has in all three editions combined. Not too bad for a first outing!

Of course, our plucky underdog story is coming to a climax, with a final against Natanians and Nosts about to take place shortly. That game will certainly be an interesting clash, with Natanians and Nosts having surprisingly appeared in the finals after defeating heavyweights such as previous finalists The Licentian Isles and group toppers Quebecois Acadania. Therefore, it's all in for both teams to try and take home their first win in the EspoT20.

Continuing their hot streak, Lozho has consistently played well in all of their matches up until this point. Nova Anglicana fought until the very last over, but it was too late to salvage qualification for the knockout rounds as we defeated them eventually. Good performances all around, with team skipper Drezhen being a particular standout, batting close to a century before being run out. This paved the way for Lozho to finish top of their group with all wins, and for hosts Sylestone to qualify for the knockouts themselves after a rocky start.

Being group winners, Lozho took a backseat for the playoffs. Natanians and Nosts defeated The Licentian Isles, and Cyborg Holland were dumped out by derby rivals Sylestone. This led to interesting rematches, with Lozho facing off against Sylestone and Natanians and Nosts playing Quebecois Acadania. Despite shockingly winning against Sylestone in the opening match, this proved to be no fluke for the Pelicans, whose red hot form were backed up by inspirational performances on the oval. With some still nervous about facing titans Sylestone, many were confident that anything was possible.

For the first time in the tournament, Lozho batted first. Opening batsman Tim Crawford put in the performance of his life, racking up a highly impressive 98 runs from 46 balls and being awarded player of the match. This impressive performance gave the Lozhoans a commanding lead over the Sylestoneans, with Lozho being 178 runs up when he was finally dismissed. Star batsman Rick Zrumhammer put in a rather quiet performance today, even leaving the oval before Crawford did. This was all made up for by skipper Drezhen, with an impressive 64 runs from just 29 balls. By the time we completed our innings, we already hit 239 runs, a figure that even the Sylestoneans likely couldn't reach.

And they didn't. While they put in a hell of a fight, reaching 200 runs, they just couldn't reach the behemoth of our team. Their hard and fast approach to try and win the chase proved risky, with the Sylestoneans getting seven wickets knocked down going into their last two and a half overs, dangerously close to automatically losing. They managed to hold firm, but it just wasn't enough for the unstoppable Pelicans. Hopefully the final will be a similar story for us as we lift the trophy.
The Queendom of Lozho
