WELCOME TO THE 101ST WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST

[00:00] The countdown in the arena and all across the world as livestreams and television broadcasts began, reached zero. The twenty thousand strong audience erupted into applause and cheers as they watched the opening theme video be played on the screens across the venue. It features a pixelated version of the city of Lipa, with the text 'LOADING..." overlayed, which then shifts into the real city, and pixel blocks fly across the night sky.

Image

[00:15] They pass the most famous and key attractions, monuments and sights of the city, all congregating eventually at The Lipa Dome, where pixelated fireworks go off as the video centres in on it.
[00:49] It then quickly flies down to focus on the people arriving at the arena, some of which real people and some are characters - which have been specially designed for each delegation as they requested.
[01:23] As they move into the venue the camera follows them, flying in the main entrance and circling around where there are 'coins' as if the arena had became a game map. People grabbed them as they walked past, each time a '5XP' text appearing above them.
[01:46] Backstage the camera flies past the staff working on the background things involved in the show, and there are also game characters walking through the back area, looking as if they are ready to go on stage. The music settles and finally the last shot is an enormous explosion of multi-coloured pixels right at the front of the main stage in the dome. The final shot is of the real live audience in the venue... and the parade of nations begins.

2 - AUSTRALE

Image

Étienne Riel

Étienne Riel is a singer-songwriter from the Australine city of La Pérouse. Hailing from the suburb of Napoléon, Riel was popular among cabaret revival venues in 1980's and 1990's in Pierrefonds, mostly known for appearing alongside of big names such as Théodore Ilene and Regine "Le Petit" Chagrin. Becoming a fixture of the Australine cabaret scene by 84', Riel became a frequent performer at La Grand Maxime, entertaining crowds of thousands every Saturday evenings.

Riel is a known fan of French giants such as Édith Piaf, Mireille Mathieu and Charles Aznavour and is often influenced by those idols. He is now one of the most popular artists of the nation, adored by millions both in French-speaking world and beyond, he was given the Honour of Arts by the Ministry of Culture in 2009.

Tout ce Qui Reste de la Trahison
Tune: Charles Aznavour - Emmenez Moi

An ode to rue with an unexpected twist, the song explores the feeling of shame and regret after being the causing side of a betrayal in a relationship. Being in a position of absolute regret while being aware of being undeserving of forgiveness and mercy, guilt of the past actions and the scars even time can't heal are the feelings covered in the piece.

For the performance, Riel is wearing a red coat above a white Victorian-style shirt and creme coloured trousers completed with white silk gloves and a corset-belt. The stage outfit can be seen here.

Postcards for Australe showcase the La Pérouse Opera House, the Bourgoignon Bridge, Museum of Poilievre and the Obelisk of Liberty. The performance starts as soon as the stage lights dim, a tall-stature is seen entering the stage. The lights focus on him as the tune starts playing, with him and the instrumentalists on the stage, Riel being the centre of attention in the middle of the big stage.

Je me souviens de tes poèmes
I remember your poems

La douce façon dont tu as caressé mes joues
The sweet way you caressed my cheeks

Le monde semblait facile sans problème
The world seemed to have no problem with ease

Seuls les médicaments m'ont guéri étaient tes bisous
When the only drug to heal me were your kisses

J'ai ressenti de l'amour, je le sais
I felt love, this I know

J'ai senti ta douce étreinte avec moi
I felt your tender embrace within me

Maintenant tu me manques, à peu près
Now I long for you, more or less

Et tout ce que j'ai, ce sont les photos de toi
And all left are the pictures of you

Je serai seul sur cette colline, je sais
I'll be alone on this hill, I know

Et j'ai ruiné l'or avec une pierre sans valeur
And I've ruined the gold with a worthless stone

Je me souviens des lèvres que j'embrassais
I remember the lips I was kissing

Et je sais que c'était creux, ça ne valait pas la peine
And I know it was hollow, not worth of the pain

Le peine... Le peine...
The pain... The pain...

Tout ce qui reste de la trahison
All that remains from betrayal

Me hante chaque nuit sans fin
Haunts me with no end

Venin des erreurs passées
Venom of the past mistakes

Ne peut être guéri par aucune goutte de vin
Won't be cured by any drop of wine

J'ai ressenti de l'amour, je le sais
I felt love, this I know

J'ai senti ta douce étreinte avec moi
I felt your tender embrace within me

Maintenant tu me manques, à peu près
Now I long for you, more or less

Et tout ce que j'ai, ce sont les photos de toi
And all left are the pictures of you

Maintenant je m'en vais, avec le poids de la honte
Now I go, with the weight of shame

Ne m'épargnez aucune pitié, je ne le mérite pas
Spare me no mercy, I don't deserve it

Mon cœur est enterré avec d'autres comme une catacombe
My heart is buried along others like a catacomb

Je paie le prix d'une nuit dans ses bras
I pay the price of one night in his arms

About The Artist

Image

Rae Kephart, born December 28th, 1999, is a Makko Okoan native, born and raised. She is a famous mid-tier artist mainly known on her homeland, and not so much internationally. She got her start in music by her own emotions and life, where she wrote lyrics on her struggles in school and in life itself, and even saw what happened abroad, and what was happening at home, and wrote her very first hit song "Mr. Poverty" in May of 2018 that was a leading cause of what initiated the Civil Transition War.

In 2020, the Empire Of Makko Oko officially recognized Rae Kephart for her dignity, bravery and creativity in writing "Mr. Poverty" and she received the very first "Makko Oko Award Of Musical Genius".

Her Likes & Dislikes

Rae Kephart likes putting her emotions through music, and tends to be a closed person otherwise. She does, however, like to read literature in her spare time and to see her adoring fans.

Song Title: My Sole Being
Song Tune: Girl Crush - Little Big Town

The Stage & Performance

Rae Kephart shows up wearing a red cardigan dress. She walks up to the mic, and she clears her throat and then says, "Hello everybody. Before we begin, I would just like to introduce myself. My name, is Rae Kephart. None of you may know of me, but I am a famous singer in my home of Makko Oko, and I've come to represent my nation on the world stage. Today, I will be singing a song that some of you may be able to relate to, and honestly, it relates to me as well, during a time of unrest and worry, so I hope you will all share in my revelations today, and take us home. Thank you.

Suddenly, a band of people walk up behind her as she begins to prepare singing. The band is composed of drummers, bass, among other instruments, and is around 7 people

The ground and background of the stage suddenly turns to a very cold color, and she starts singing

I've lost my sole being
Hate to admit it but
I'm losing my strength
To bring back my...freedom

I got it real bad
Want what I can't have
That sweet smell of press

The ground and background then turn into a faded white, and all the stage lights start to turn shades of green and white, mixed interchangeably.

That's lost on me now

I want to be able to move mountains
Yeah, because they'd move me closer
To my freedoms
That I so dearly miss

The background changes to a mountain top, presumably the highest in Lipa, but some batted an eye to it being Makko Oko. The stage lights, meanwhile, change from shades of green and white into shades of gray, blue and white.

I want what my grandfathers had
I want to do without intervention
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
My soul wouldn't be gone

Suddenly, everything turns black, almost seemingly shutting the power to the stage off, but then, you see Rae again, in all red stage lights.

Rae then sits down on the stool, as she continues singing, the stage lights following not far behind

I've lost my sole being

Rae stands up, almost like it was unplanned, and then starts slow-pacing, when in reality, it is walking around the stage, and continues. Hiding against the stage lights, seemingly for dramatic effect.

I've lost my sole being
I don't get no sleep
I don't get no peace
Worrying about my friends

Everybody calling me
The way that they're talking
Makes it sound like they're under disrepute
And I can't
Loathe the guilt I have for them

Seemingly instantly and quickly, the entire environment comes back from the dead, feeling cold with the colors, yet again showing mountains on the stage, and this time, her walking atop a makeshift mountain. Gray, blue and white stage lights follow to the top of the mountain.

I want what my grandfathers had
I want to do without intervention
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
My soul wouldn't be gone

I've lost my sole being

Once again...the lights go dark, and all red encompasses her, except looking sad almost, lifeless, standing while looking at the ground, on top of the mountain.

I've lost my sole being
Hate to admit it but
I got a sudden charge
To bring back my...freedom

The lights then dim completely, and the song ends. Much applause appears, and the lights come back on, and she then bows, and thanks the crowd for listening, and then walks off the stage with her band.

WAISNOR

TAKI - Pervyi khod/Tune: AISEL - Ona ne tvoya

TAKI, real name Tatyana Kiseleva, was on the Waisnorian music stage for several years, scoring some top charters before. Seemingly the only thing missing was the worldwide recognition, and so, she went to national selection for WorldVision Song Contest. She tried before, placing 5th in 91st edition selection, but 10 editions later she was the lucky one to go to the contest.

Her numbed started with Tatyana sitting on a chair, dressed in all black. Her head was covered not only by a, well, black head, which was pretty big, but by veil too, which was covering her face. But not fully, so that viewers could still see her face. There was also some smoke on the stage, being barely visible with the lights.

Может быть, это я ослепла
Maybe I'm blind

Но весь мир - будто кучка пепла
But the whole world is like a pile of ashes

Я не вижу ни капли драйва
I don't see any drive

Но мне хочется больше кайфа
But I want more high

After Tatyana sang that verse, she clicked her fingers, and at that moment, a litle fire appeared on the background. Over time this fire would take the form of a line that was slowly turning into some kind of ornament. Meanwhile at the stages, a human was walking towards TAKI from behind. Because of the darkness, it was unclear if it was man or woman.

Старые игры уже надоели
I'm tired of old games

И картины все потускнели
And the pictures have all faded

Помоги мне зажечь тот факел
Help me light that torch

Что, казалось, потух в том шлаке
What seemed to be extinguished in that slag

When that verse was over, this human's hands came into the light, going into various poses over time, firstly holding this chair with two hands, then holding the shoulders of Kiseleva and then finally hugging her. Meanwhile Kiseleva didn't seem to be bothered by all that, as she was still singing, seemingly not noticing everything.

Дай мне стать твоей ученицей
Let me be your student

Пожелаешь - императрицей
If you wish - your empress

Только сделай мой мир вновь светлым
Just make my world bright again

Что ты ждешь, тут нельзя нам медлить
What are you waiting for, here we can not hesitate

The singer repeated this verse twice, and then, when it was time for the chorus, these hands took away the hat and the veil from Tatyana's head. Light grew over the stage, revealing this person to be man. After that the man threw this hat away and began dancing with Kiseleva. Meanwhile at the background, fiery ornaments were getting more and more intricate over time.

Сделай первый ход, сделай первый ход
Make the first move, make the first move

Ты мой кислород, ты мой кислород
You are my oxygen, you are my oxygen

Сделай первый ход, сделай первый ход
Make the first move, make the first move

Ты мой кислород, ты мой кислород
You are my oxygen, you are my oxygen

While TAKI wasn't singing, she was still dancing with this man, sometimes utilising the chair in their routine. But when the time came to return to the verses, this dance stopped, and instead she and this man came to the opposite sides of this chair, firstly just looking at each other.

Мое сердце почти заглохло
My heart almost died

И душа уже вся иссохла
And the soul has already dried up

Но ты можешь это исправить
But you can fix it

В мою жизнь остроты добавить
And spice up my life

Then Tatyana and this man moved their hands to each other - Kiseleva her left hand and the man his right hand. Then they clenched their hands together and pulled each other closer to, well, each other. Meanwhile and the background, the fire ornament met another ornament, also made of fire and stopped for a moment.

Я прошу, чтобы ты не сдался
I ask that you don't give up

На пути своем оставался
Stayed on the way

Дай мне радость от новой жизни
Give me the joy of a new life

Подари мне свои сюрпризы
Give me your surprises

Now it was Tatyana who was pulling the man to her, and so he stepped over the chair and got to be real close with the singer. In the background, two ornaments, which wer gaining new swooshes and getting more intricate, slowly began going to one another.

Дай мне стать твоей ученицей
Let me be your student

Пожелаешь - императрицей
If you wish - your empress

Только сделай мой мир вновь светлым
Just make my world bright again

Что ты ждешь, тут нельзя нам медлить
What are you waiting for, here we can not hesitate

After once again repeating this verse twice, TAKI once again began dancing with this man, once again using the chair sometimes. In the background, ornaments finally united and became one big ornament, which was going upward now instead of going to the side of the screen.

Сделай первый ход, сделай первый ход
Make the first move, make the first move

Ты мой кислород, ты мой кислород
You are my oxygen, you are my oxygen

Сделай первый ход, сделай первый ход
Make the first move, make the first move

Ты мой кислород, ты мой кислород
You are my oxygen, you are my oxygen

After finishing this performance, both TAKI and this man bowed to the audienced and waved, while Kiseleva said: "Thank you all for being here! I love you!"

#8 Axuva
Cora Jeong - "Nothing"
Music: Dyakkuk Lyrics: Cora Jeong, Kapete Erodos
Tune:BoA - Better

Cora Jeong returns to the Worldvision Song Contest for the 101st edition with her song, “Nothing”! In a interview with Cora from TPNB-X after the 73rd Worldvision Song Contest that was held during her nationwide tour, she revealed “I didn’t feel as content as I did about the performance when I was originally planning because there were several elements that were supposed to be added to the performance which were left out due to shipping difficulties which caused a major change to the performance so what you saw during that run wasn’t what was originally my plan and I wish I could do it all over. It was just so sudden.” Editions later, Axuva decided to reach out to Cora and now she is back with her song, “Nothing” to represent Axuva at the 101st edition of Worldvision.

ABOUT CORA

Axuvian singer-songwriter Cora Jae Jeong was born January 16th, 1993 to Ha-na Kang, a professional dancer and singer, and Mark Jeong, a real estate agent in St. Nardonygrod, Axuva. Cora was raised in a very musical household which ended up making music apart of her everyday life and shapes her into who she is today. She loved to perform for her family members and sing her latest favorite hits to them every now and then and she would force them to watch, but as she grew older her parents noticed she kept the singing habit alive and knew she was absolutely serious about her singing and noticed that she had actual talent in her voice. Her mother, Ha-na encouraged her one year to do her middle schools talent show and Cora signed up, as her mother begged her over and over to do so. Cora performed at the talent show, which got her a first place prize, and after this Cora confessed to her mother that she wanted to keep doing this and she was very interested in taking it further. So Ha-na signed up Cora with a professional vocal coach which strengthened Coras vocal abilkty through the years. When Cora turned 17, she took it upon herself to sign up to be a singer at Promenade Records. She was accepted at first notice, then the label made sure before debuting, they strengthened her vocal ability and dance skills by the labels trusted vocal coaches .

ABOUT THE SONG

This song 'Nothing”' is a song based around the R&B dance genre that stands out with heavy bass and the explosive beat of the chorus that lead the song. This song was bought from a Swedish singer by the name of ERiKA who self-produced and wrote the song. and was remixed in the style of Cora Jeong by producer Dyakkuk, who also has vocals on the song, but once Cora got ahold of the song, she and Taploukki songwriter, Kapete Erdoos collaborated in writing lyrics for Nothing. Cora Jeong came up with the idea to involve a Taploukki songwriter in her song since they had just won the contest. The lyrics to the song were expressed with powerful yet understated smooth vocals to add charm, The beat drives much of the verses, creeping forward on a rhythmic energy. The pre-chorus brings in swoops of strings, which have a slightly eerie and suspenseful appeal.

After 28 editions, Cora Jeong returns to the worldvision stage to represent Axuva with her song, “Nothing”.

Image

The performance starts with the camera view fixed on the dancers and they would fill up the screen, then as the beat starts, they disappear out of frame, and Cora is shown into the frame standing in front of the large prop that was placed on stage, covered in LED lights to luminate it and enhance the performance. Two dancers stand behind her with similar outfits as Cora, as Cora stunts her two piece skirt and top combo in black and she is equipped with a black head microphone, which allows her to dance freely and effectively while singing. The song kicks in and the camera angle instantly zooms out, showing all 8 dancers and Cora on stage, doing the the beat paced choreography, currently the lighting is set to a blue and white scheme. The lighting on the stage prop flashes to the beat as the beat makes itself present.

Image

Moleugess-eoyo What the truth is cause boy
you always lie
I don’t even know who you really are
Boy you think you’re messin with my mind
Well the truth is that i’m not a fool
And I’ve seen it all before
So please don’t even waste your time
Cause my love for ya’ already died

Image

As she continues going down to the end of the first verse, the male background dancers ease off the stage, and all female dancers align themselves with Cora, linking arms and going slowly to the ground, then unlinking arms, continuing the fast paced choreography. The lighting on the stage prop change to a slower speed, warping the entire prop. The dancers walk around Cora, as she continues to sing the Pre-Chorus, and as they do this, the male dancers send themselves back on stage.

Image

[Pre-Chorus]
Gipeun jeongjeok soge neoneun narang in your dreams
And I don’t even really care where you go
dangsin-i naleul tteonan ihulo
No I won’t be reaching for your love
Baby there is no second chance cause
This is not real love

Image

As all the dancers are back on the stage and the song hits the chorus, a loud dropping sound effect would interrupt the beat and the spotlights above and on the prop would drop and everyone on stage would lower their bodies, emulating the lights then as the beat picks back up they start to do the main choreography for the chorus. The camera angles would zoom out, showing all the dancers and as they kept dancing, Cora and the male dancers would drop low, as the female dancers walked behind them in formation.

Image

[Chorus]
Even if you think you matter, I promise that you don’t
Do you even know who you really are Just a mindless desperado
If you want to play your cards, go broke with them at some casino
I won't be the one to lose no more
You’re nothing to me You’re nothing to me

Image
Image

As the second verse came around, the male dancers would walk out of frame and the female dancers would spread out to the beat and Cora would continue to sing, following their lead and the male dancers would walk back into frame, standing infront of all the female dancers as they would drop to the floor, and the camera angle would change to a tilted angle as Cora laid to the ground with the female dancers. They all put their boots against the males backs, making their feet climb up to their mid-back and the male ancers grab the females hands, lifting them up.

Image
Image

[Verse 2]
Don’t ever think you’ll get away
Because baby I’ll pull your card
Not gyohwalhaji you silly man
This thing is stopping between you and me, yeah
Gyeonggyesimeul pureobwa
Neo sangsangmaneuroneun nareul so I got to go
There’s no more of you and me
Not here to play your silly game

Image
Image

As Cora went into the second pre chorus, Cora is surrounded by the male dancers, and she is rotated around as they pull her arms, making her spin and the dancers in the background admire Cora as they lift her up, touching on her body, and the female dancers come into frame, moving their bodies to the beat along the male dancers. As the male backing vocal comes into the track, the male dancers mouth the lyrics along to it.

Image
Image

[Pre-Chorus]
Gave you a hundred chances
Yet you still dont know how to love, oh..
(Give me little kisses, tenderness
(Give little touches, handless)
It’s almost like you have no soul
But whatever it is, I want no more..
(Give me little kisses, tenderness
I know)

Image
Image

As the pre chorus nears its end, and all the dancers make their way out of frame as Cora pushes them away, she dances on her own and hits her note, effortlessly. As she finishes the note and the male vocal finishes the pre chorus, the dancers are brought back into the camera frame, all forming a formation behind Cora, and as they formed the formation, the camera angle switched from normal style to aerial view, then they all started repeating the main choreography work from the chorus and the camera angle switched back to normal view.

Image
Image

[Chorus]
Even if you think you matter, I promise that you don’t
Do you even know who you really are Just a mindless desperado
If you want to play your cards, go broke with them at some casino
I won't be the one to lose no more
You’re nothing to me You’re nothing to me

Image
Image

After the chorus going into the bridge and the beat drops, they all group together, facing the prop and the male backup dancers all lift Cora above their heads, spinning her around and dropping her towards the female dancers, and they all stand around her, moving to the beat of the bridge, and she moves as well until the backing track plays, and it goes silent and starts back up.

Image

[Bridge]
Don’t want no more fake love
Not wasting my time.. cause you’ll just stay the same
Forget my love eobs-eojyeoss-eo
You’re out of my life and I dont want you no more
Want you no more

Image

As the bridge ends going into Verse 3, they all stand together popping to the beat then switching to where Cora sits on the male dancers legs, and they all surround her, nodding their heads to the beat and then Cora stands up, then the dancers follow, and they mimic her moves as she continues to dance to every beat.

Image

[Verse 3]
If I was the one you truly loved
All you did was just take me for granted baby
I gave you all of my affection everyday
And you don’t give it back so I got to go
There’s nothing you
Do for me that
gibun-i joh-ajinda
So just go ahead and save your love
I’m done with your silly games
And I crossed out your name
No more of your silly silly, games

Image

As this verse ended heading into the chorus, they would dance for the final chorus before the song ended and confetti would blow out on the sides of the stage commemorating the end of the performance. Cora hits a high note before breaking into choreography, lifting her hands and continuing into the choreography

Image
Image

[Chorus]
Even if you think you matter, I promise that you don’t
Do you even know who you really are Just a mindless desperado
If you want to play your cards, go broke with them at some casino
I won't be the one to lose no more
You’re nothing to me You’re nothing to me

Cora waves to the audiwnce as the performance ends with a close up of her face, and the screen closes, going black.

Maryam and Emine - Бың түшлер
Transcription: Bıŋ tüşler
Translation: A Thousand Dreams
Language: Öjjan
Music by: Andreas Çetin
Lyrics by: Maryam Kaplan, Emine Kaplan

Maryam and Emine are standing in the middle of the main stage. The spotlights are flashing and moving all over the stage. For the intro, the camera shows a full shot of the stage, going around it. Once they start singing, the camera moves to them and the spotlights move to be just on them.
Сени көрдүктимөң
Үч ғылыз өтти
Ачыгын, үжгүнлүкүн
Ёк бөлүм сениң бүтүн кирниң
Би мачакда көрмедүн

The camera then moves to just show Maryam, pointing to the camera and then her heart.
Сени узакча атдуктымта, си бөлүмүм ылты
Яне си бени ямама билмемек буну деликни ғүрекдем чалты

The camera then moves to show both of them, slightly from above. The choreography for this section can be seen in the second spoiler.
Бың түшлерде сени көрим
Ижтедүкүмте удмакны
Бың түшлерде сени көрим
Начад балчным кетечиң?

The camera moves back to be before them. Maryam is on her knees, expressing the sadness described in the song.
Яне би ғыгларур
Яне баркырым
Орсар мачад кетемечиң
Ян турмак тетим
Ян етмемек ялбартым
Орсар диңлемечиң

Maryam gets back up. They both put one foot before the other, with a stern look on their face. For the second line, the camera moves to Emine, looking slightly downwards, with an almost disgusted look on her face, before moving her eyes towards the camera.
Өлүмнүңүң күн яшамның енедгү күн чи
Бир алчыны ериң, яне роспу де, жаназеде би себинчи

The camera moves to be in front of both of them again. They do the same choreo as the first chorus.
Бың түшлерде сени көрим
Ижтедүкүмте удмакны
Бың түшлерде сени көрим
Начад балчным кетечиң?

For the first line, the camera moves to be in front of Maryam, who first points at herself, then at the camera. For the second line, the camera moves to Emine, doing the reverse motion. For the third line, the camera moves to be in front of both of them. For the fourth line, the camera moves to be above them, spiraling away.
Бени бун өгреттиң
Сентен бун өгрентим
Сентен күбме билмем
Сени бүз бозчым

The camera changes to a full shot of the stage, moving slightly around it.

They throw up their fists in time with the music. With the last note of the song, the pyrotechnics go off.
Maryam shouts: "РАХМАТ СИЖКЕ! THANK YOU!", before they both walk off stage to allow the stage to be readied for Iqq's entry.

Seni kördüktimöŋ
Üç ğılız ötti
Açıgın, üjgünlükün
Yok bölüm seniŋ bütün kirniŋ
Bi maçakda körmedün

Seni uzakça atduktımta, si bölümüm ıltı
Yane si beni yamama bilmemek bunu delikni ğürekdem çaltı

Bıŋ tüşlerde seni körim
Ijtedükümte udmaknı
Bıŋ tüşlerde seni körim
Naçad balçnım keteçiŋ

Yane bi ğıglarur
Yane barkırım
Orsar maçad ketemeçiŋ
Yan turmak tetim

Since I last saw you
Three years have passed
With pain and sorrow
There isn't a single part of your filth
That I've never seen

When I kicked you out, you took a part of me
And you left me unable to patch up this hole in my heart

I see you in a thousand dreams
While I'm trying to sleep
I see you in a thousand dreams
When will you leave my head

And I cry
And I scream
But you will never leave
And I told you to stop
And I begged you not to do it
But you won't listen

The day of your death will be the best day of my life
You're one cheater, and a wh*** too, I will laugh at your funeral

I see you in a thousand dreams
While I'm trying to sleep
I see you in a thousand dreams
When will you leave my head

You taught me this
I learned this from you
I can't trust because of you
So I'll ruin you

I see you in a thousand dreams
While I'm trying to sleep
I see you in a thousand dreams
When will you leave my head

I see you in a thousand dreams
While I'm trying to sleep
I see you in a thousand dreams
When will you leave my head

Бың түшлерде - step to the left, step to the right
сени көрим - point forwards
Ижтедүкүмте - step to the left, step to the right
удмакны - sleeping motion
Начад балчным кетечиң? - point forwards, to their head, then push to the left

DJ Eshay & John Johnathan Johnson - MCG I’m Having Fun
Tune: Dr Bombay - S.O.S. (The tiger took my family)

This is legitimately IQQ’s last entry. Forever.
Image

DJ Eshay and John Johnathan Johnson are the representatives for Iqq Northwest Bir Tawil Halaib Triangles this edition. DJ Eshay is a teenager from the very run-down and edgy suburbs of Sark Le Coq, the capital city of Iqq Northwest Bir Tawil Halaib Triangles. A life in the day of Darren “Dazza” Hallett (DJ Eshay), the half-SBI’slander, half-IqqNBTHT’esian would be going around the Sark Le Coqsian streets on his Razor scooter with his vape pen of many flavours, burning some twig with his street gang, going around speaking the finest of tongues, the Pig Latin language. He is an “eshay” after all, or the ol’ pig latin form of “sesh”, a word that represented youth of Sark Le Coq on the finest weed of the lower socio-economic class neighbourhoods that these particular youth mainly originated from and were raised in. This term is both said and shouted by both DJ Eshay, and John Johnathan Johnson.

John Johnathan Johnson is another local Sark Le Coqsian (mainly because that’s really the only large city in Iqq NWBTHT) and he falls under the category of a “junkie”. Junkies are also found around Sark Le Coq, and these are usually street people with no money, typically because they spent it at pokie machines and on cigarettes/drugs, and are forced to stay outside. The way they receive money, however, is by pretending they’re “looking for a job” while they live off the benefit (money provided by the government to individuals) by earning weekly payments from Northernlink, a government funded system that hands out benefits to people in need. Usually, this is for people who were laid off from their jobs, or single parents with children. But, junkies like John J.J., as he is known, get money from Northernlink just to spend it all again, and at times they are refused payments because Northernlink know what junkies like him do with it.

CUNT (Casting United News Television), the national broadcaster, has given the opportunity for DJ Eshay and John Johnathan Johnson to become a duo to show the world the many backgrounds of Sark Le Coqsian life. The song that they were given to perform is “MCG (I’m having fun)”, a song about the positives of Malta Comino Gozo, which weirdly and quite unsurprisingly at the same time, is a common theme in this edition of Worldvision, with the Vartugian delegation also sending a song based on the island kingdom. Keep in mind, none of them have actually been to Malta Comino Gozo, as Iqq prohibits basically any kind of travel to all citizens. It’s frankly ironic that the participating country with the lowest human rights is singing about the fun and enjoyment of another nation.

The song begins with DJ Eshay and John JJ revealed on stage. DJ Eshay, as his name suggests, is on a DJ set located behind John JJ, and John JJ is singing in front of him. All of the vocals sung are from John JJ, except when anything in brackets, like “(ESHAY!)” is shouted. Quite clearly that’s DJ Eshay shouting from the back of the stage. The song begins with a loud and strong “ESHAY BAH!” from DJ Eshay, and then John JJ begins to sign.

(ESHAY BAH!!!)
This song goes out to those who are Malta Comino Gozoan
Some people like King Rossi and Brooke Galea are who I stan
DJ Eshay is his name and I’m the Johnny guy today
And I’m telling you about the Malta land

The chorus sees John JJ repeating basically the same line, just changing it up with three locations in Malta Comino Gozo, and then the nation’s trigramme initials (MCG) itself at the end. Not to mention the fact that he also sings M-C-G at the beginning of each and every line too. As with all of the choruses, you will see John JJ doing some wacky dances on stage, as the camera zooms on him every chorus.

Image

MCG! I’m having fun in Malta!
MCG! I’m having fun in Swatar!
MCG! I’m having fun in Valletta!
MCG! I’m having fun in MCG!

Back to the verses. Another loud “ESHAY!” is shouted from DJ Eshay. Even though the song contains the lyrics “I loved exploring the country a really big ton” in this verse, John JJ, nor DJ Eshay, has ever left the country.

I spent my summer in the islands and I just went “Wow!”
Gozo and Comino were so amazing I screamed out loud (ESHAY!)
I loved exploring the country a really big ton
The sloth bears all grabbed my hand

Another chorus.

MCG! I’m having fun in Malta!
MCG! I’m having fun in Swatar!
MCG! I’m having fun in Valletta!
MCG! I’m having fun in MCG!

Image

Back to the verses, and this verse is about the sloth bears of Malta Comino Gozo. God only knows how he knows about these animals as a whole, let alone that they are commonly found in MCG. Someone from CUNT, The national broadcaster must have shown him a Wackypedia page about the animals. And also about Malta Comino Gozo because God also only knows how he knows that many locations in the country.

I adopted a sloth bear from the Malta state
I gave it lots of food and oh how it ate
It even wanted to eat my hand
But it’s so cute straight from the Malta land

Image

MCG! I’m having fun in Malta!
MCG! I’m having fun in Swatar!
MCG! I’m having fun in Valletta!
MCG! I’m having fun in MCG!

DJ Eshay steps off the DJ set and John JJ hands the microphone over to DJ Eshay. DJ Eshay starts wording out a jumble of lines about bongs, adlays, and saying Malta Comino Gozo in Pig Latin, his favourite language. It’s just basically a jumble of slurred and agglutinated sounds, in the lyrical form of actual words somehow.

(Eshay bahhhhhs this song goes out to all you adlays from Altamay Ominocay Ozogay MCG MCG yeah yeah ongbays bah!)

John JJ is handed back the microphone from DJ Eshay and says MCG, although says C twice for some reason in this pretty lame bridge in the song. The fact that he says MCCG suggests that the country is now called Malta Comino Comino Gozo now. Or, the extra C could be another island in the kingdom entirely. Who knows. Definitely not him, he really doesn’t know anything about MCG. He’s basically just read off scripted lyrics that were handed to him. He probably couldn’t even tell you what or where Malta Comino Gozo is.

EmCeeCeeGee EmCeeCeeGee Yeah!

And to finish the song, three identical verses with John JJ dancing crazily with more intensity. Everyone suspects that the drugs that he took directly before the performance are starting to kick in for him. Oh yeah, the LED background has changed to a video of his basement, with a few pizza boxes stacked around on the couches in his house.

Image

MCG! I’m having fun in Malta!
MCG! I’m having fun in Swatar!
MCG! I’m having fun in Valletta!
MCG! I’m having fun in MCG!

MCG! I’m having fun in Malta!
MCG! I’m having fun in Swatar!
MCG! I’m having fun in Valletta!
MCG! I’m having fun in MCG!

MCG! I’m having fun in Malta!
MCG! I’m having fun in Swatar!
MCG! I’m having fun in Valletta!
MCG! I’m having fun in MCG!

To conclude the song, DJ Eshay scoots over to John JJ from the DJ set to fist bump John JJ and they both say “Thanks lads!. Also, DJ Eshay shouts “ESHAY!” to the audience, with the audience actually having absolutely no idea what that even means, but he still feels proud of himself, and scoots off the stage. The drugs for John JJ evidently haven’t worn off yet, as he’s still dancing out of control even when the music has stopped ages ago. The Lipa crowd eventually begin throwing chloride gas at him, where he chokes to death and eventually disappears into many small cubic pieces as soon as he dies. The blocks of his body become invisible and the stage returns to normal like nothing ever happened.

11. Spiritual Republic of Caryton
Fisher Collins - Sunshine (The Poppyseed Street Theme Song)
tune

Image
A scene from the animated Carytonic religious Children's hit; Poppyseed Street

Background: Caryton had a wide range of entries to submit to the 101st WorldVision Song Contest. So why Poppyseed Street? After Granny Janine's re-debut in the Special Edition hosted in Schuftsburg, the Carytonic WorldVision Committee had been swept up in a phase of upbeat, family-friendly songs. A half-hearted recommendation, that the Poppyseed Street theme song itself should be submitted, turned serious as it won the vote with a narrow majority, with the Shirleyton Trio and Latanya Anderson with the remaining votes, respectively.

PERFORMANCE

-

Come and look out of your windows!
Come and see the big wide world!
Come and hurry down your hallways!
There’s a whole day’s banner to unfurl!

The glissando features a cartoon butterfly landing on a windowsill. The drawing style is very vintage, as if it were straight from a seventies Christian children's book- handdrawn styles and pastels blurring into a Caillou-style white border. An animated five year old girl in modest dress with ribboned-up blonde hair tumbles out of bed excitedly. She presses her face against the cold window, looking over the beautiful Carytonic grasslands, farms, and plains in an idyllic blur effect. She struggles to put her coat on as she bobbles down the hallway for breakfast time. The scene fades to a handmade banner of handprints being waved by several small pairs of hands.

Then come out and enjoy the warm, bright sunshine!
The freedom and love of the heavenly sunshine!
Sunshine, it’s our very own!
Just as the land is our throne!

The door springs open as bubble-letter credits fade in and out of the screen. The Carytonic farmhouse stands quaint against the peaceful plains and the bright morning sky. She has a bonnet and coat on, plaid and nostalgic. She splashes in puddles on her way past white fences, puffy cumulus clouds, flowering trees, and the mailbox, sending muddy water to fade the screen.

Then why be sad when you can’t see the sunshine?
The light always wins, and so does sunshine!
Sunshine, just as it hugs us from above-
Sunshine, sunshine!

A sequential shot of scenes follows, the main character hiding in her covers as lightning flashes through the dark bedroom. The main character beaming out at the rainbow emerging from the rainclouds the next morning. Sunshowers soaking our yellow raincoat-clad main character who splashes in the puddles again, reveling in the bright sunshine.

[instrumental]

Love the love of your family,
Love the love of your friends.
Love the love of all God’s creatures.
Love the love that never ends!

The instrumental resumes the girl's journey. She passes by the elderly farming couple, her neighbors- who give her a cookie on her way. She passes by the friendly reverend in her priest robes, waving from the tolling church tower. She passes by the milkman and mailman- eventually coming to her small town's busiest road- Poppyseed Street. The street is flanked with apple trees on both sides. The brick buildings are bright and lined with flowering bushes. There she sees her friends- an assortment of animated multicultural kindergarteners. The vocals then resume.

A shot of all of their families looking with love from their fields and buisinesses. A shot of their friends- which includes their imaginary friends among which are Big Bear, Eldo, Cake Monster, and Grumpy. A shot of them in suits and dresses in Sunday School. Lastly, a shot of those same small hands planting their makeshift flag on a hill overlooking the town, working together.

Then come out and enjoy the warm bright sunshine! (why be sad... see the sunshine?)
The freedom and love of the heavenly sunshine! (The light always wins… so does sunshine!)
Sunshine, it’s our very own!
Sunshine, just as it hugs us from above!

The animated kids roll down the hill, and prance about hand in hand. They sit on each others shoulders, picking apples for everyone to enjoy. Big Bear gives them honey and Cake Monster takes a big slice of birthday cake at a party. The sunshine blooms its light on the main character again, watching ducks bobble on a pond with her pet puppy, Biscuit- folded next to her.

Then come out and feel the warmth of Christ’s sunshine!
Then come out and share with all of your friends your sunshine!
Sunshine, it’s a gift to be given!
Sunshine, sunshine-

A shot of the kids doing good deeds in their neighbor's house as a portrait of Christ hangs on a wall. More shots of community service, dancing, apologizing for wrong-doings, and sharing what they have.

Sunshine can also shine from you!

The main character is tucked into bed by loving parents at night, who turn the lamp off. The theme song fades into darkness.

Myra is an artist of the 3rd millenium. Needing no introduction to many Carrelians after her surprise win for North Borneo in the Songfestival just a few months ago, she's only recently come to bask in the spotlight. The road to stardom has been a long and winding one, but in her eyes has been more than worth it, and it all began in a small town, a while away from Kota Kinabalu.

On September 27th 2000, Myra was born to a single mother in the seaside town of Kota Marudu, near the northern tip of Borneo. She never knew her father, but her family made sure to give them the best upbringing they could. She took to the books as a quiet and reserved child, not really expressing her emotions much despite the encouragement of her life-of-the-party mother Yuliani. It wasn't a glamorous life by any means. In fact, the household frequently needed loans and support from their relatives. The dire situation come to an end when, at the age of 10, Myra and her mother moved in with her loving grandmother, who made sure to clothe and feed them as they got back on their feet. Life began to turn around as Yuliani got a stable job and Myra began to open up a bit, and she soon found herself invested in the world of music.

She began with the keyboard. Relatively cheap as it was, her first keyboard was nothing special, but to her it was everything. She'd spend hours learning and playing her favourite songs, and soon her talent in singing also began to shine. What a world it was! As her skill improved she began to sing in public, in bars and restaurants, but never caught the eyes of any media executives. She began to experiment with her own compositions, finding a niche in ballads. From there, her horizons only grew and grew.

Image

Myra had never had much luck in romance. Sure, she'd caught the affections of a few guys and had crushes before, but they never really amounted to much. And so, when a new student came to school from the faraway land of England, she was taken aback. His name was Pierce, and in Myra's eyes he was perfect. Outgoing, flirtatious, spontaneous, he was everything she looked for. The two immediately hit it off and, as 2016's summer break turned into the school year, they began to date. It was very much a whirlwind romance, and the light of the love they shared would surely never go out.

Or would it?

As the two came upon their 2 year anniversary in 2018, both parties were dissatisfied. Pierce had started mingling with other women and Myra was just plain uninterested. But still they stayed together - who else was there for her? Would there be anyone for her after? But she had to accept the truth, and let her first true love down gently.

She was distraught. He went on.

[Shadows at Midnight] was a massive undertaking for me, and the fact it won the whole thing is absolutely beyond my wildest dreams! The song is an outpour of emotion for my first love, and shows the uncertain things I felt after my first breakup. It was a labour of love.

"Shadows at Midnight" (performed at Songfestival as "Bayangan di Malam Hari") is the first single from Myra's debut album, Kisah Sempurna. It's a reflection of Myra's first love and the effort it took to break it off, with references to the lingering pain heartbreak brings. It rose to fame after winning Bintang, the North Bornean preselection for the contest. It then, completely by surprise, won the 2022 Carrelie Songfestival and catapulted the song and Myra herself into the spotlight. Now, she's taking to the Worldvision stage in an effort to recreate her astounding victory.

Image

The stage begins silent, props forming a scene of nature right out of a fairytale. Branches and vines curve across the stage, massive leaves make themselves at home in the air and on the ground, and the triangle structures to the sides are all coloured green. A single white spotlight shines onto an empty vine protruding out of the stage floor. Myra, wearing a long wedding dress, accompanied from behind by 3 women dressed as flower girls, takes her place sitting on the vine, shining in the light. The music begins to fade in.

Come to me bearing gifts of honesty
Wishing to make up, without a quality
I look at you, and you look right back to me
And I’m wondering now, when will I be free?
I see the pain behind your eyes, making me cry
But this is better for both you and I
Because…

Starting softly, petals begin fall around Myra as she sits and sings. Gradually, light begins to envelop the singer as she steps off the vine and onto the stage, the screens of which bloom in flowers below her. The camera takes a birds-eye view as she walks forwards and the chorus begins.

The world is not enough
You’re not making me swoon
Casting the shadows of midnight
On the dark side of the moon
We have had our time
But it is over now
Look back remembering our love
Keeping it close to your heart
We’ve both had our chances, we’re done

During the chorus, a moon appears on the back LED wall and the lights begin to darken on stage. Around halfway through the chorus, the moon glimmers as an onscreen light shines behind it. Myra stretches her arms out at 'We have had our time' and encloses them on her chest at 'Keeping it close to your heart', before hugging herself lightly. The next verse begins and the scene returns to daytime, petals resuming their flow.

I’m okay, you shouldn’t take that as a lie
Just putting my head up, facing the blue sky
Time and again I look back, contemplating you
And suddenly the sky isn’t so blue
But it’s true

The second verse presents some unique staging. On the LED screens a brilliant sapphire sky shines through the branches of an enchanted forest, overlayed by the lyrics in a handwritten style. The triangular structures pulse with green and yellow, as the flower girls behind Myra throw golden petals behind her. As Myra sings the line 'And suddenly the sky isn't so blue', the shimmering sky greys and rain begins to fall. The moon rises for the chorus begins with bombasity and flair. She's no longer singing softly, but singing with the power inside her heart.

The world is not enough
And this is for the best
Casting the shadows of midnight
We will count ourselves blessed
We have had our time
But it is over now
It holds that you were the first one
Keeping it close to your heart
We’ve both had our chance, and we’re done

The transition into the bridge is swift and sharp. Myra makes her way to the second stage with the help of the left catwalk, and the flower girls follow closely behind. The moon continues to shine as the triangular structures fade to grey and Myra takes wide strides over, hands on her heart.

Look up, there’s always another one
But I’m not the most sure, what happens to me?

The world is not enough
And this is for the best
Casting the shadows of midnight
We will count ourselves blessed
We have had our time
But it’s all over now
It holds that you were the first one
Keeping it close to your heart

The next chorus is spent on the second stage, hands outstretched towards the audience. Myra procures a rose, which is crushed under the weight of one of her heels as she stomps on it and the stage. She holds it as the petals fade onto the ground and the thorns poke into her skin, like the draining love she experienced. The backing performers begin to shine as the song nears its close, and Myra really begins to let go all caution and sing from the bottom of her heart.

(The world is not enough)
(And this is for the best)
You were the first and the last
It’s such a shame it’s passed
(We have had our time)
We’ll both get over it, I’m sure

But what happens to me after?

The rose drops onto the stage as a single tear falls from Myra's face. The moon behind her fades as the screen becomes white, and Myra bows all the way down. Petals cease to fall as the audience gives Myra a larger applause and appreciation than she could have ever asked for. It's done, but what'll come next in the career of this fledgeling starlet? As per usual, Myra leaves the stage with a resounding

"THANK YOU WORLD AND THANK YOU SO MUCH BESEN!"

14- Placely Placington

Wynan Schitt - A Sad Song

Tune: Johnny Cash - Hurt (Microsoft Songsmith version)

Things just kept getting better for Placely Placington. And by "better" I mean worse. First of all, in the last competition they not only finished second from last but they had received only five points, two of which came from actual last placers Fatimania. Secondly Elejamie, the country they always give five points to for some reason despite not receiving a single point in return, went on an indefinite hiatus from the WorldVision Song Contest following a dismal finish at the 100th edition and an OK-but-should've-been-better result at the Second Chance special edition. Thirdly Iangqan Qonyeondan (or whatever IQQ stands for) Northwestern Halaib Triangles something or other are also calling it a day after this contest, leaving Placely with one fewer friend in the contest. And fourthly there wasn't any Crustyland this time around, although whether this'll be a temporary break or if they've left too is a different question (at least ICly, OOCly I know this is a one-off).

OK, there's Vartugia but until the special Second Chance they weren't super pleased with how Placely got nul points and they didn't.

Either way, with a contest that's slowly turning against them Dave McDaverson has asked Wynan Schitt to compose a sad song in order to try and win the peoples' hearts over. He was the right man for the job, after all. So much so that Wynan was actually given the chance to write and compose the song himself without Dave having to step in and oversee anything. He did a pretty decent job, albeit by Placely standards. But will it be good enough to actually get them a good amount of points and maybe their new best finish? Probably not but with a classic such as this it's worth a shot, right?

Postcard ends and the stage is ready. It's nothing special, just him sitting on a chair in the middle of the main stage. No props, no back-up, no nothing. On the one hand, it'd be a much closer and intimate performance. On the other, it's probably be quite boring with nothing to write about. Then again, since it is Placely, there is no one cheering. There are a couple of pity claps and a cough that managed to be loud enough to be picked up but, other than that, the arena was silent. After the lack of cheering died down, the lights started to dim and the song began to play.

Except this isn't the right music. Maybe a stagehand didn't want what is considered to be one of the best covers of all time being butchered like this. Maybe a stagehand didn't want to put up with a song so pathetic and self-pitying it makes Alcohol You seem well-adjusted. Or maybe something went wrong behind the scenes. Who knows? Who cares. Either way it's just a glum scene with Wynan strumming a guitar that's not even plugged into anything while everything around him is dark, the only source of light being a spotlight shining down on him.

Why have our friends left us?
And where did they go to?
And when will they come back?
What are we to do?

So we're going with whatever the hell this is. Great. I don't have much to say so let's just go with the next bit.

I want them to come back
So we don't feel alone
I don't know if we should play
Or if we should try to atone

Onto the chorus now. The stage started to lighten during this bit, albeit not by much. Also the waterworks started to flow. Great.

What have we done wrong?
Please let us know
If we should stay or if it's time
We should go
And we could send some songs
That'll change your mind
Or if we should just
Leave this thing behind

Wait, we're already onto the next verse? OK then. Besides, from time to time, the camerapeople just cut to people coming onto the stage from the audience. It's Placely Placington, even if someone wanted to attack them the security doesn't care enough to do something about it. Besides, the entrants just get cloned back to life anyway. Oh yeah, they came on stage to not only photobomb the performance but also to pretend they were playing some maracas to go with whatever the hell the music was being played. Wynan didn't notice, he was too busy crying his eyes out. The lights dimmed a little bit but were still bright enough to make out the stage invaders.

We will send better songs
That we can promise you
If our friends come back
We'll know what to do

We will work together
To make the greatest songs
And hope we can right
All our past wrongs

And it's the chorus again. As Wynan carries on being a mewling shit, people kept rushing the stage and dancing in the background. Some pretending to play maracas, others just swaying their bodies to and fro. He still didn't notice as his eyes were starting to melt from all the crying. The security noticed but didn't care because, again, it's Placely.

What have we done wrong?
Please let us know
If we should stay or if it's time
We should go
And we could send some songs
That'll change your mind
Or if we should just
Leave this thing behind

Oh shit it's the outro now. Wynan just became more passionate with his vocals, moving his mouth closer to the mic as if he was trying to eat it. On the upside at least people stopped coming onto the stage to "ruin" his performance.

But I don't know if we
Will ever make it that far
But we know we'll try
We can make a start

He stopped playing his instrument but the music carried on for a little bit longer. He tried to be dramatic and everything but the cheesy music and the fact that it's Placely pretty much scuppered those plans. That and he tilted his head up to try and figure out where the music is coming from but, of course, his lack of eyes wouldn't help him. Eventually the song came to an end and he stood up. He stood there for a few moments to complete silence before he was escorted backstage by a stagehand. Hopefully the next entry is better.

Ah.

15. Vartugia

Malta Stan Club- "Give All Your Points To Malta"

Malta Stan Club are two unidentified individuals that shockingly are from Malta Comino Gozo. They took part in the 3rd installment of Vartugia Decides, the semi-annual national final. However, as their song gained a lot of interest and fame it was decided that they would perform at WSC101 after gaining 2nd place. Their entry "Give All Your Points To Malta" has become some sort of meme song along the Maltese Worldvision Community due to its lyrics asking to give them (MCG) all of one's points.

ON STAGE

Main Vocal: "Maltese person"
Main Vocal: "Maltese person"

Both persons are dressed head to toe and we don't know who is singing which line. But at least one of them is singing.

Ye-eee-eee-eee-eee-eee-eah

Not sure I told you, but I really like his songs
Earcandy of his tunes, amazing animated images
If you didn't know who I sing about its about Malta
Ye-eee-eee-eee-eee-eee-eah
Now that we will get points from our homeland
We will help our motherland win Worldvision again
If you don't like Malta what the fuck is wrong with you?
Ye-eee-eee-eee-eee-eee-eah

Both begin to sing and they do a stupid dance. We see a lot of Maltese persons cringing hard over how bad this is

Don’t forget to vote for Malta
Give him all of your votes
Give him points-
Don’t forget to vote for Malta
Give him all of your votes
Give him points-
Give him points- (Worldvision)

Suddenly there is fire and there is a lot of fire. We see even more terrible dance moves

Vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Malta

One of them sings. We don't know who.

His entries are always a great time to read
Awesome lyrics, fantastic roleplay, and overall a great guy
Let’s phone his number, and vote for him since he is the best
Ye-eee-eee-eee-eee-eee-eah

Both sing out of tune and at this point it's a trainwreck.

Don’t forget to vote for Malta
Give him all of your votes
Give him points-
(Make him win WSC again, vote, vote)
Don’t forget to vote for Malta
Give him all of your votes
Give him points-
Give him points-
Give all your points to Malta

The stupid dance is back.

Vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote (Give all your points to Malta)
Vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
(Give all your points to Malta)

They all go into this stupid dance break that no one wanted.

Po-oi-nts
Po-oi-oi-oi-nts
Po-oi-nts
Po-oi-oi-oi-nts

Don’t forget to vote for Malta
Give him all of your votes
Give him points-
(Make him win WSC again, vote, vote)
Give all your points to Malta
Don’t forget to vote for Malta
Give him all of your votes
Give him points-
Make him win—

They do an awkward dance.

Vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote (Give all your points to Malta)
Vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote-vote-vote
(Give all your points to Malta)

They sing out of tune as their voices how are tired from all of this stupid singing.

Not sure I told you, but I really like his songs
Earcandy of his tunes, amazing animated images
If you didn't know who I sing about its about Malta

Both run away as a PSA plays. Its an image of a crying boy and it has a terrible voiceover

Voiceover: This is Tyler. He is 5 and he is sad because Malta isn't winning. For NS$420,69 you can ensure Malta can win for the 56897th time in a row.

The PSA is over and the audience is stunned over what they just saw. Maybe the next one is better.

Worldvision 100 had been a spectacle! The first contest with semi-finals and the largest contest so far. Malta Comino Gozo luckily, thanks to third place in Worldvision 99 automatically qualified for the final in Monterra Kalosia. With the contest over, disappointed wasn't the word thrown around, only because of the sheer number of high-standard entries but 14th place wasn't their best showing either. Still, someone had to finish 14th! Glen and Kartha had a whale of a time, with drinks all around as the points came in from all the international juries and televote. They nearly shrugged it off and focused on the positives, they had scored over 200 points again so that was something to be proud of and with 51 countries taking part that was not poor at all!

Welcome back to the multi award winning band that needs no introduction, 5IVE! The national and internationally renowned boy band hailing from Malta Comino Gozo. With 14 single releases and 3 album releases all reaching #1 in the I-MCG radio/music charts. "Summer Nights" spent 16 at weeks #1 on the official I-MCG charts and 8 weeks #1 on the Bay Radio charts – breaking local records. "Faultlines" as of August 2022 is still in the charts at number #11, having peaked at #1 for over 6 weeks as well as charting around the multiverse. Voted best up-comers, best music video, best song (twice), and best band (thrice) at the Kings Music Awards in Valletta.

Late last year, MCG1 spoke with 5ive one of MCG’s most exciting bands. Their blend of upbeat, melody-driven guitar pop has won them a sizeable fan base stretching across the island nation, and beyond. Their melodies, sound and unique songwriting echo the upbeat and bright blues-rock swagger of the 70’s buoyed by a pop lilt and with as much groove as grit.

For over ten years the band have experienced first-hand the development of MCG’s music scene. Historically with MCG often omitted from touring schedules, there has been a rise in home-grown talent, with bands like 5ive capturing the attention of local music fans – roughly 80% of Malta Comino Gozoans have streamed their music videos on YouTube and Spotify. Since their debut in Worldvision 99, the band has excelled internationally touring in countries such as Elejamie, Crustyland, Norrp, The WMCA nations and Antahbrantahstan. 5ive has grown into a tight-knit, intuitive group of writers and performers, each member bringing to the table a unique set of attributes and influences.

Since their participation in Keterig Aenglide in WV98, the band had been hard at work. "The Plan" was written in the summer of 2022, during one of the band’s many songwriting trips in the past two years.

On one occasion, they found themselves in a slightly grotty bed and breakfast lodging in Rannk Crustyland.

“We couldn’t afford anything else but also, we almost wanted to push ourselves out of our comfort zone,” guitarist Benjamin Miller says.
“We just set up our gear in the living room with sirens going off outside and I think just being somewhere different helped us create something that we would never have done back home.”

The song speaks about a toxic relationship or situation. The girl mentioned is trying to get away from all that, to the boy who wants her and will treat her right. In her head, she is planning her getaway and the boy is dreaming of being with her and longs to see her back out of the toxic relationship.

“I wanted to talk in a very direct way about how that feels,” singer Keiran Schiano says. “Chasing the high all the time but knowing that, ultimately, it’s not doing you any good long term." The singer said that the song connects with the current generation because dealing with a toxic relationship is a challenging situation to get out of. “If someone has dealt with a similar situation, then I hope it helps them to know that they aren’t alone. It is not their fault, and their feelings are totally valid,” Schiano said.

Those with a keen eye and interest in the contest will remember Malta Comino Gozo's first win in the competition also came in Besen granted in another city but still, the pressure was back on. 5ive having won the contest and placing fourth were back for the third time. They had now become the first act to represent MCG at the main competition three times (Lewis Sarucino represented MCG twice at the main WV and once at a special edition).

Image

Once they arrived in Lipa after their 5 and hour-half flight it was time to do some exploring. After dropping their luggage off at their luxury hotel located in the heart of this beautiful capital. The city itself was probably as big as MCG as a whole, with lofty towering skyscrapers that soared high into the air. From taking a tour of the city's main Cathedral, indulging in the local cultural cuisine, strolling by the stunning marina, checking out the tropical fauna at the National Wildlife Park on the outskirts of the city, and even squeezing in a few dozen selfies with the other participants, it was clear the band was having a blast there. After all, when you’ve got time to spend between rehearsals, and the occasional press interview for the people back home, you might as well take a trip around the city to enjoy as much as you can in the time you have.

KEY: Keiran Band Both

To watch all of the mentioned video clips in one go see this video

Performing came naturally to Keiran, it was as common as eating and drinking to him. But even still pre nerves were still a thing. His muscles strained against the fabric at the forearms, biceps and chest. His heart was beating against his chest he took a deep breath and got ready for the song to start. Ultimately this was the weight of his nation on his shoulders once again, oh why did he keep putting this pressure on himself, maybe he loved it, maybe he loved the adrenaline rush, whether that be in a small busking session or a huge contest like Worldvision and or the roar of the crowd chanting his band's name over and over.

For the performance, the MCG delegation had built a 2ft high rectangular platform that stood on the main stage with a small gap at the front allowing the band to step onto the actual event stage. The band would be accompanied on stage by 2 backup guitarists. Benjamin on a dazzling white electric guitar wore a dark red suit with a bomber-style jacket and pants that cinched at the ankles at the far back of the stage with the two backing guitarists. James was wearing a hazelnut brown suit, a crisp white shirt and white shoes, is centre back on Electronic Keyboard, and Kristofer was on drums right back on the raised platform to the left of James slightly off centre.

There were a couple of seconds of silence between the audience's applause and cheering and the opening of the song. Kerian took a deep breath, beat his chest, and hoped that his vocals tonight would be up to the task. Before he knew it, the song opens with the retro 80's sounding keyboard synthesiser, something that would have appealed to Elejamian audiences if they were still competing in the contest and a drum bass played by Kristofer. To top off the 80's sound the camera has a very soft veil / foggy feeling that gives the opening of the song an 80s mood. The stage lights would flash a dim almost greyish white illuminating the 7 figures on stage. As Keiran listened to the instrumental that opened the song, he was filled with anticipatory anxiety and excitement as he waited for the cue to start. With a dim white light from the back of the stage slowly lighting up his silhouette on the main stage he was ready to begin.

Keiran, Benjamin and Sebastjan opted for three distinctive takes on suits that looked even better next to each other. Keiran wore a colourful, plaid double-breasted suit with tasselled loafers; Benjamin's was a graphic striped double-breasted suit with a striped T-shirt underneath and chisel-toe boots; and Sebastjan, holding a beautiful black and pink chrome electric guitar, did a more neutral plaid double-breasted style, no shirt underneath, with lace-up oxfords. It was essentially all about a play on pattern, and clashing them in a way that still felt dressed-up and cohesive.

The camera now without the 80s filter, faded from black into a close-up of Keiran tilting his head upwards letting his left hand gently clasp at the microphone stand he was holding. Only a dim orange spotlight shone on him as he softly sang the opening lines, a delicacy and gentleness to his vocals accompanied by the lone keyboard and sound of the drums that played the song's melody.

When will there be any real reason why?
What's the plan anyway?
When I look into your eyes all I can see is mine

There is a brief cut-off of the view of Keiran as we see James on the keyboard, his fingers moved with grace, not playing but caressing the keyboard, his figure illuminated from the bottom lighting up the keyboard gloriously whilst his face and upper body remained delicately in the shadows. The view fades back to Keiran for the next verse.

This second verse would go by in the same fashion as the first verse but with Keiran letting go of the microphone to spread his arms as he sings "Are far between and few" before bringing them back in again to hold the mic stand as he wraps up the verse.

The plans we execute
Are far between and few
I'll go around the world just for something to do

Now with each note on the keyboard, a lone orange spotlight would appear simultaneously, whether that be above the stage or out in the arena beaming downwards as if switched in by each respective note. An audible cheer echoes throughout the hall as the first few switch on. The camera is this time suspended above the audience showing the entire main stage as more and more of it comes into view.

Existence is fleeting
You spend your life dreamin'
The shores are exhausted
The time is receding now

The opening to the chorus begins and a candle flame appears on the back LED as the stage is plunged into a dark marmalade orange. The camera sweeps in a 180-degree motion left to right around Keiran. He sings with conviction his brows furrowed before his eyes widened at the beginning of the second half of the chorus.

She had the plan, I had the plan, Oh the plan
We were just two kids they said the time's right, the time's right, the time's right
Girl you gotta do what you gotta do

The camera pulls outwards at an angle from the stage towards the left back of the arena above the cheering audience. Keiran remains animated. The rest of the band supports Keiran, their vocals radiating out in perfect harmony through the arena.

Oh Oh Oh Oh

The camera cuts to a full stage shot from above the enthusiastic audience. In huge contrast to the solemn start and general calm to the start of the song, the song and stage erupt majestically into the second part of the chorus quite literally as an eruption of fire pyros flares from the edges of the stage. When the chorus kicks in he sang with all his power, throwing his head back and to the side as his arms fly out. The fire pyros help emphasize the effect. This time the camera focuses on Kerian as he takes the microphone out of the stand as he sings "Serenading through the plan" the chorus with all of his resilience and determination. He would occasionally catch sight of the billow of golden lights, which caused his hazel eyes a-gleam with delight and the vigour of youth eye to glitter like stars. Lacquered and enamelled by the sun, he radiated energy and brio. His mountain peak cheekbones appeared chiselled into shape by a master craftsman. They were of such sharp contours, that it looked as if they were sculpted and pared to perfection. His posture was regal, powerful, and graceful, like a roman soldier. Unlike a soldier, though he sang with a voice that was far rawer and tinged with agony as he connected with the lyrics. The chorus wraps up with a shot of Kristofer on drums.

So you could be a better you
Serenading through the plan that you form, you form, you form.
Go find a guy with some kind of courage to get you through the night

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

The "Oh's" from the band echoes out into the arena as the chorus finishes, and Keiran drops his head briefly as the glow fades slightly and the LED fades into black again. The opening to the verse begins with a close-up of James on the keyboard. He acts like the camera isn't on him, with a face of concentration as he plays the keys before the camera spins and transitions to a body shot of Kerian. He taps his chest delicately with his right hand as he sings the last two lines. The camera pans in, his facial expression was now one of desperation.

I am the man
I am the man with the plan
So girl if this is somethin' you're needing, those feelings be true

We then cut back to a frontal body shot of him, as he sings captivatingly towards the camera walking a fine line between being seductive and charming, his voice has a persuasive quality to it. The view pans outwards from Keiran towards the roof as he paces forward slightly, towards the edge of the makeshift stage but doesn't step off it. We then cut to Benjamin and Kristofer respectively playing their instruments. They both have neutral expressions. The verse rounds up with a body shot of Keiran singing out towards the audience, the view is from below looking upwards with a scattering of spectators in the foreground.

You can only love me
As much as you love you
But girl I know you know that that's the truth

Like before, with each note on the keyboard, a lone orange spotlight would appear simultaneously, whether that be above the stage or out in the arena beaming downwards as if switched in by each respective note. An audible cheer echoes throughout the hall as the first few switch on. The camera is this time suspended above the audience showing the entire main stage as more and more of it comes into view. Kerian ends the verse with his soaring vocals.

Existence is fleeting
You spend your whole life dreamin'
The shores are exhausted
The time is receding now

In contrast to a raging inferno, the tickling flames were much tamer. The apricot hot flames shimmer through fierce yellow and into burnt orange
as the flames licked and tickled up the fire poles and occasionally appear to leap up a few inches. Still, they are generally low and are controlled flames and about head height to the band. The mesmerising and radiating flames helped add to the fiery brilliance of the stage. These, much like the lights, also intensify as the song builds up, growing increasingly more rapid and large as the section of the song continues. The camera pulls out from the centre of the stage to show a glimpse of Kristofer on drums, his drum kit surrounded by the spectacular fire display. His skin almost glowing from the reflection.

A small flame begins to appear on the back LED screen behind the fire poles. Keiran, Benjamin and Sebastjan step off the makeshift stage down to the edge of the main stage to be closer to the audience. The camera pulls out showing the entire front of the impressive stage glowing a deep amber orange with the fire rods Keiran raising his left hand in the air as Benjamin and Sebastjan stand with their backs to him clapping along merrily to the beat, their hands raised close to their faces, their guitars hanging against their torso's. In the foreground, we can see the audience doing the same. The camera cuts to a view from the audience itself so we can appreciate the fiery stage even more. The members of the band at the front clapping having the time of their lives. Yes, this was a professional contest but it didn't hurt to smile. The camera briefly cuts to a standing MCG fan in the crowd. She as well as the others around her are bathed in a deep red light. Her beaming smile showed pure joy unaware of the camera on her.

Towards the end of the pre-chorus, Benjamin and Sebastjan take a step back to allow Keiran to remain at the front. The camera sweeps just below Keiran's feet from left to right as he sings passionately into the crowd. The lights glistened off his colourful, plaid double-breasted suit, the dull blaze of the spotlights shone in the warm glow of their hair.

I'm suppressing my fight, my fight my fight
Cause I know that you're right, you're right, you're right
Girl you gotta do what you gotta do

The boom camera carries on panning left to the right amongst the fires around Keiran. A small flame begins to materialise on the back LED screen.

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh...

The chorus opens with a blast of fire that is pumped into the air every few seconds producing an incredible rising fire effect amongst the still glowing fire poles. We have an upper body shot of Benjamin as he holds his electric guitar in one hand and points outwards into the crowd as Kerian sings "So you could be a better you". The delegation wanted to show as many shots of the crowd enjoying the performance as possible this time we cut a young man clearly from Besen as he has a Besen scarf on, again bathed in a deep red light head bopping along to the song as we see a few flags being waved from participating nations behind him. The verse wraps up with the camera swinging past Keiran and Sebastjan to Benjamin singing energetically whilst strumming his electric guitar, with flames swirling around near him.

So you could be a better you
Serenading through the plan that you form, you form, you form.
Go find a guy with some kind of courage to get you through the night

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

All the lights facing into the audience now dramatically change to a soft white and change direction to face the main stage as our view is one from above the audience facing the stage head-on. Ben and Seb have taken a few steps backwards. In an almost pep talk-like manner like talking to someone's reflection, Kerian corrects his posture to stand up tall, his shoulders back, and back straight as he sings with persuasion. His manly lofty vocals reverberate through the arena his eyes squinting as he finishes each line as if he is digging deep to find his vocal outstanding vocal range.

Now when you wake up you can make your time,
Serenading through the plan that you form.
Go find a girl with some kind of courage.
To get you through the night

The camera cuts to Kristofer as he opens the verse with the drums, producing the beat to differentiate this verse from the last. We can hear the band supporting and signing behind Kerian adding a level of depth to the song. Their vocals tie in perfectly.

Now when you wake up you can make your time,
Existence is fleeting
Seranading through the plan that you form.
You spend your whole life dreamin'
Go find a girl with some kind of courage.
To get you through the night

The camera pulls outwards and the stage is plunged into darkness as the band's vocals ring out the only lights are some dim yellow lights surrounding the platform's edge.

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh ...

A lone spotlight appears on Keiran as we have a facial shot of him that pans outwards as he pointed directly into the camera lens pulling outwards interacting with the audience at home. The camera zooms into Keriran, who gazes into the approaching camera with a fire in his eyes. He is often obscured by the sheer mass of fire and flames on the stage. With each hit of the drum symbol the white lights around the stage flash. As the verse ends the lights fade into shimmering fiery colours again.

I'm suppressing my fight, my fight, my fight
Cus I know that you're right, you're right, you're right
Girl you gotta do what you gotta do

Surrounded by the flaming fire poles, glowing orange, blood red lights and the fiery LED background, Sebastjan true to form enjoys every second the camera was pinned on him, lifts his electric guitar up and brings it swinging back down whilst bashing his head to the beat. One could see by his grin the fun he was having as he plays the notes to link us into the chorus with as much energy as he could find. Behind him we see Kristofer and James and the backing electric guitarists supporting. They are also all bashing their heads in sync but crazily to the beat. As the band sing "you form" the camera swings outwards and to the stage left as Keiran and Benjamin once again rejoin Sebastjan on the make-shift stage. The camera cuts to a diagonal upper left shot and swoops in like a rollercoaster taking a bendy descent over one of the fire machines spewing fire high into the air until it reaches the 3 guys at the front. Kerian is now standing in the centre with Ben and Seb standing on either side facing inwards rocking heavily with their guitars in hand. Enamoured by the melody, the viewers are transfixed watching their hands strum and pull the guitar's steel strings in unison. The verse ends with a facial shot of Keiran asserting to the camera shaking his left hand as if pleading to the woman to stop her from being enveloped by the toxicity of the relationship.

So you could be a better you
Serenading through the plan that you form, you form, you form.
Go find a guy with some kind of courage to get you through the night

The spider camera pulls outwards again at an angle displaying the whole front section of the stage. The flames leap with the joy of a dancer, sparks pirouetting, giving their all in this brightest of performances. There is a brief shot of Ben singing, he sings at the audience not looking at the camera lens. His expression though not very happy remained relaxed and calm. His skin is slightly patchy with sweat which shone on his gorgeous face. Once more we can hear the band supporting and signing behind Kerian adding depth to the song. The boom camera pulls outward fast away from the main stage showing the whole stage in its fiery glory and the audience lit by the amber spotlights until it reaches the catwalk before cutting to a frontal shot of the main stage so we can see the whole band. The perspective gives the viewer a sense the band is dancing dangerously close to the fires which are shooting and curling up the poles and out of the fire machines, it added to the grandeur of the final chorus, as well as the heightened emotions showcased in the song. The LED background continues to flicker away. We can see the backing guitarists at the back hopping up and down to the beat with James on the keyboard and Kristofer whacking the drums producing a great "Ooomph" - punchy, fat sound from the kick drum and
"Whoof" boomy and resonant tone from the bass drum.

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh ...
I'm suppressing my fight, my fight, my fight
You can only love me
Cause I know that you're right, you're right, you're right
As much as you love you
Girl you gotta do what you gotta do

We have a stunning shot of Kerian where the camera arcs around 180 degrees from Kerians left, to the right as he tilts forward with renewed affirmation and holds his next note splendidly. The flames behind him and to the side of the stage rise higher to illuminate the entirety of the stage adding a hauntingly beautiful golden glow to the stage. His manly powerful voice echoed through the arena. There was a tinge of hurt in his voice singing instead of empathy outcomes anger as he longs for the girl to back out of the toxic relationship. The good lover is your divine medication and will drive you into sanity because you have no choice but to face your Waterloo when they come. They are the sweet addiction, as healthy as addiction to good food and exercise. So choose wisely when it comes to lovers, and these books come in any and all covers. You must read their pages with your soul, and use your intuition. The camera again cuts to a group of cheerful fans, bathed in red, this time a group of young women who can be seen playing to the camera and singing along. They were obvious massive 5ive fans as they shook their MCG flags.

The camera cuts back to a view of the 3 guys at the front before we have a fleeting glimpse of Ben singing as he grabs the microphone for effect before a swinging shot from the front row of the audience clapping and jumping along. The camera smoothly swings towards the stage as the song ends. Kerian places his arms over the top of his bandmate's shoulders as they play out the last line. The stage is a-blaze in its fiery cloak of hues, from incandescent-red to lightning-gold. Then both the leaf flame and field light flames burn bright one last time as the camera pulls out, fading into the dying embers of the darkness of the arena. The rest of the band sang their lines behind Keirans' lines.

Ohh!!...
So you could be a better you

But girl I know you know
Seranading through the plan that you form, you form, you form.
That's the truth
Go find a guy with some kind of courage to get you through the night!
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

The pyrotechnics show is over. The arena lights switch back to the tepid warm white as the audience who are already on their feet roar with contentment at the performance. The cheering is defeating as the camera pans over the crowds and back to the band who are standing basking in the cheers. What a performance, what a wave of emotion! Even after their third Worldvision the cheers never failed to give them those warm exciting tingles of performing to such a large audience. "Thank you! Thank you Worldvision!" Kerian bellows cheerfully. The band exited the stage ready for Ertzei Kishim to take to the stage.

Malaakh Dayan - BERSERK

Language: English
Lyrics & Composition: Ya'ar Doron, Sami Al-Nabulsi, Danica Dayan

To the Tune Of - Eden Ben Zaken - WTF

Background
If the last WorldVision was anything, it was certainly dramatic. One of the most spectacular events in the world had been ramped up to 100, with stunning hosting, enormous participation, and crucially, a formatting change. The introduction of semifinals (first formally proposed by HARESHET in its WorldVision 89 big I may add), had been a game changer for the contest. Instead of the mixed bag of entries we typically saw, the final, filled with only the top ranked entries, produced some amazing and unforgettable moments. The tension of semifinal qualification, and the jubilation of the now more dramatic voting sequence left audiences and contestants alike in awe of the changes made. So much so that hostbids for the 101st contest had semifinal trigger clauses built in - the new format was here to stay. For HARESHET, both semi final shows, and the final, were a huge ratings success, even if the fifth-placed finish was a little lower than they expected. In all honesty, they had aimed for the victory, and a poor showing in the televote which saw them finish 11th ultimately pushed Melis Bileh off the podium and into fifth place, still with a record points haul thanks to the new format, however. As with much state planning and contracts, HARESHET had committed to a five-year stint in the WorldVision as part of its five-year media plan, with WorldVision 101 representing the fourth year of the plan. HARESHET were however cautious not to throw the large amounts of money at the next entry as they had with Melis Bileh as, evidently, money did not equal a victory. Indeed, while the song was in many countries a success, HARESHET and EKRA had seriously had to evaluate their expectations on what their future entries were capable of.

Previously considered for the relatively ill-fated WorldVision 99 campaign, Malaakh Dayan's song, "BERSERK" had been a smash-hit throughout Ertzei Kishim, occupying the top sales figures for several weeks and, becoming the top selling single of the year. The song was actually a joint collaboration between the cities of Rakaphy and Tiferet for their summer Pride campaigns and thus served as the unofficial gay anthem of the summer. Initially, HARESHET had wanted the song for WorldVision 99, however due to the fact that it hadn't actually been released officially as part of the series of gay pride products, this request was turned down by EKRA. Their interest did not diminish however, and HARESHET made a separate approach for WorldVision 101 (having already selected Melis several contests in advance for WorldVision 100). This time, scheduling and release lines were not a problem, and Malaakh was eager to say yes to the project. The song itself was an oven-ready hit for the stage and, with just a few minor adjustments to make the lyrics more family friendly, the song was made ready for the WorldVision stage. In fact, HARESHET were one of the first to announce their act, stealing a march on many of the other broadcasters and setting their stall out early. Before "BERSERK", Malaakh herself was not a huge name, in fact, most Kishraelis would not be able to name her if you asked. It was only due to the LGBT-led committees tapping into underground talent that she was selected to work on the song. At 25 years old, she was still young, and had a number of releases on her Soundcloud page, plus small singles on her Spotify with a handful of listens. It was only due to her relationship with the queer community in Rakaphy that she was ultimately selected for the song. Well, and the fact that she pretended she was bisexual, even though we all know she isn't. When this news surfaced after the release of the song, namely due to several high-profile affairs with Kishraeli sports stars, Malaakh decided that she should just own it, and instead rebranded herself as something of a fag-hag, introducing her posse as "her gays" and overusing typical gay slang to comical effect. While this irked some of the more ultra-progressives, many took this in good humour and Malaakh quickly cemented herself as a trendy gay icon in the same way that Pooja or Tiffany Pollard is.

"BERSERK" itself was an interesting blend of music genres which had been described by critics has "disgustingly Kishraeli [...] blending the clubs beats of downtown Rakaphy with the traditional Middle Eastern vibes of the deserts and mountains". This was in part why HARESHET had chosen the song, with enormous drums and piercing violins, the song was a perfect representation of what modern music in Ertzei Kishim had to offer. It was also lyrically playful, and not serious. Sure, a song like this would never win, but maybe it was time to stop trying so hard - after all, it hadn't worked the times when they had put the effort in. The public seemed to think the song was fun too, with the announcement of it as the country's WorldVision entry given it a second wind commercially. This was coupled with a small domestic club tour, as well as a small international one which included a performance on Superstar: Scotatrófidna. In this period, Malaakh notoriously turned down an over to perform on PNB's morning show, releasing a short video on Twitter in which she decried the offer as "disrespectful", complaining "they want me to haul my ass up at 6:30 am to perform in a tiny studio for an audience of what? Seven? It's messed up". While some condemned her as ungrateful, many of the annoying 'slay queen' fans lauded her with praise. Ultimately her video likely garnered her much more exposure than a performance on Polkopian morning television would have.

Lipa
The bidding for WorldVision 101 was unusually competitive, with three interesting bids from Besen, Llalta, and South Batoko. The voting was close, and some within HARESHET had expressed reservations on some candidates, remembering the times when HARESHET as a broadcaster was forced to step in and rescue the contests in Besen and Llalta previously. Ultimately, the extremely polished retro-inspired bid from Besen was victorious which, all things considered, was fair. Following the announcement the team made arrangements immediately in preparation for the trip to Lipa. Having recently emerged from a crippling economic recession, some scars of this had been left behind the glittering facade of the city, but nevertheless, the city offered many options to the international tourist to enjoy. The team settled on a location near the Lipa Dome, an empty quarter of the city with not much to do, which was clearly undergoing rapid development in anticipation for its post-contest life. While it was probably not the most exciting area, it did afford easy access to the stadium since Lipa's public transportation infrastructure was somewhat lacking, despite its affordability. For some in the delegation, memories of WorldVision 84 rang out, even if the city was different. Eitan Carreira, singer turned music producer, had achieved eight place in the contest, which was generally met with a lukewarm perception domestically and abroad. HARESHET were hoping for a little more impact this time, whether positive or more controversial.

While the press tour had been muted due to budgetary constraints, the concept for the stage performance did require slightly more funding. With lots of elements and, for director Sasha Gobolev, an interesting story to tell, perfecting the rehearsals and camera angles were an immediate necessity. While Ertzei Kishim had slightly longer to practice, with a guaranteed place in the final if semi-finals were to take place, the complexity of the stage performance with its various props had to be nailed down. Interestingly, the only problems arose with constant microphone feedback and volume issues, something the team at Lipa Dome ensured would be fixed by the performance night. Trusting in this, HARESHET were free to tinker with camera angles and choreography, but ultimately they had faith in their product.

Performance
Being the meat or bread as part of a Maltese sandwich was never what anyone wanted, with audiences and commentators alike understanding that Malta Comino Gozo often served as a points vacuum, sucking up all the good stuff. As a result, standing out after the Maltese performance required a certain uniqueness and determination, but Malaakh was confident she was able to provide this. As the crowd hushed from the retro-inspired pop of WorldVision regulars 5ive, Malaakh and her team rushed onto stage into their positions. The Kishraeli postcard was a little long so as to allow for the time to set up what needed to be done on the stage. What had been erected was a makeshift runway, complete with backing frame so that dancers could emerge as if they were on the catwalk. On the side, a table with three people sat, along with a couple of cards. Malaakh stood in between the frame, the most imposing figure of all on the stage. As the first tinkles of music began ringing out on the stage and the crowd cheered, maroon and pink lighting twinkled across the back of the stage, still obscuring Malaakh until she put the microphone to her lips. At this point, she was lit up and the maroon and pink was complemented by gold undertones throughout the stage. Malaakh wore a golden dress, dripping with shining beads. It was probably expensive, and she probably had to give it back after the contest. Her hair was pinned up in an updo, but something suggested it was going to be pulled down soon.

I didn't start this trouble baby
This trouble was always looking for me
Break these gilded chains and set me free
Awaken this hunger in me
Body on body, hands caressing my hips
Breathing steadily on my hungry lips
I know you like the taste of my liquorice
Fill my glass up, come take a sip

As the violins began playing for the next part, the camera loses its focus on Malaakh, as several topless male dancers, and scantily clad female dancers come out. All were wearing makeup. In fact, HARESHET had ensured that the total production was LGBTQ, including everyone on stage. After all, this was the official pride anthem for 2022 in Ertzei Kishim. The dancers and Malaakh all begin marching forward at the same time, stopping as the heavy beats ring out six times each. At this point the lights flashed on and off in time with the music, and everyone on the stage paused in their positions, and posed, before walking forward along the catwalk as the music resumed. For the second seat of beats however, the dancers and Malaakh didn't pause. They instead gathered around her and started putting their hands on her, grasping at her body as she made almost orgasmic faces.

I see you watching me reading the fresh ink written on my skin
They played my song then I’ll make them play it again and again

This was deliberate however. As Malaakh sung the first parts of the chorus before the huge beat drop, the dancers strategically placed their hands ready for a tear away moment. During the pre-chorus, everyone on the stage slowly stepped back in time with each other, Malaakh too. At the point where the beat of the chorus was ready to explode, Malaakh was in the archway of the fake runway, giving her a huge space to march forward. As soon as the beat dropped, the dancers pulled at her dress, ripping it away and revealing a sexy and sleek catsuit underneath. Malaakh marched forward while singing the chorus, winking and smiling as she went. The table on the side with the people finally revealed its purpose as they began laying on the table while on their back, holding up white cards with big writing on. As Malaakh let down her hair at the end of the makeshift podium, a shot of the people at the table showed them fanning themselves on their back, all of them holding up white cards with "12" on them, a reference to the amount of points I want everyone to give me this edition. These were acting as runway "judges", and they were to play a more prominent role as the performance continued.

Hands up I wanna see you work
Go berserk, go berserk
We don’t stop not even if it hurts
Go berserk, go berserk
Sexy, fired up, controversial
Free love u-niversal
Furious, lawless, always gorgeous
Give me the beat, enormous

As sung the first line, a shot of Malaakh straight from the front was shown, with her covering her mouth and acting shocked. Behind her, one of the dancers held up another card saying "Oh yeah she slayed". Of course, she knew was big slaying mama, and if you couldn't see it then maybe you were just blinded by her eleganza the house down boots, and that's not our problem huntylicious. Anyway, as the verse continued, the dancers would all move around her for the first part of the verse, and at the final word they would bounce back each time. At the end, at the point where she sang "Earthquake", a frontal shot showed Malaakh sassily snapping her fingers as the camera moved (as if in an earthquake, very creative I know), and the colours on the back of the stage swirled around on the backing screen and on the floor, almost resetting the motions and the beats to which the colours were moving.

Rega, ha’rega asiti big slay?
רגע רגע הרגע עשיתי ביס סלאיי

Gems on my wrist, imported
My whereabouts, reported
Pill on my tongue, distorted
I feel the ground shaking
Earthquake!
Wait, wait... did I just big slay?

Another frontal shot showed Malaakh in a wider frame singing the start of the prechorus, the stage lighting swirling wildly as if she was in a storm, seemingly replicating the urgent sounds of the violin. Malaakh stayed in position as a second camera show showed the "judges" on the table, emoting wildly with fake emotion and pretending to cry. They in turn lifted a card up each spelling W - T - F, perhaps reflecting what some people were feeling about this so performance thus far. While there was a lot of focus on the stage show, Malaakh did nail all her vocals, and it was the final note while singing "aligning" which really had people stopping and noticing. This was coupled with a huge "vacuum" like effect which came behind Malaakh during the final note of the prechorus, sucking all the pink, gold and maroon from the stage and leaving sparse twinkly white lights.

Dancing shadows in the night, warm bodies are intertwining
So I drop it to the beat and the bassline starts aligning

As the twinkly notes of the prechorus played out, the dancers formed behind Malaakh. As she sung, raising her hands up, the stage began to light up in sparkly rainbow hues, how gay. A topographical angle showed that each time she raised her hand out to the side, the rainbow colouring on the floor got deeper and stronger. She continued to sing, with one of her backing dancers holding up another card with the words "I HOPE CARYTON CAN SEE THIS" on the placard, gaining laughter and cheers from the crowd. The beat then trailed off preparing for the final chorus, and at this point, a wide shot was shown of the stage.

Hands up I wanna see you work
Go berserk, go berserk
We don’t stop not even if it hurts
Go berserk, go berserk

Zooming back in on the stage, Malaakh marched forward on the catwalk for a final time, followed by a troupe of five male dancers voguing behind her. In on hand she carried a pride flag, while in the other she sung with her microphone. After she reached the end of the runway, the men stopped voguing and rushed to the floor in front of her, dancing at her feet and writhing their bodies on top of one another. After this, one of the female dancers marched forward holding with two hands a placard saying "IF YOU DON'T VOTE FOR US YOU ARE GAY", once again, eliciting cheers from the audience. For the final part, Malaakh simply focused on her vocals as the dancers, and their placards did the talking. With the song preparing for its end, Malaakh got into position, raising her arm up with the pride flag, another female dancer held it from the other side so it was fully unfurled. The judges from the table gathered at the back, holding up their "12" placards again, and the other dancers gathered behind in preparation for the very final note.

Hands up I wanna see you work
Go berserk, go berserk
We don’t stop not even if it hurts
Go berserk, go berserk
Sexy, fired up, controversial
Free love u-niversal
Furious, lawless, always gorgeous
Give me the beat, enormous

A huge cheer erupted from the audience, Lipa clearly loved gay shit like that, and Malaakh was delighted to have served it. With a beaming smile she shouted "I love you guys, thank you! I guess I'm big in Achaea now". Her dancers laughed at this unscripted moment, as did the crowd, especially the Achaean slut-pop fans who were probably living for the performance. Malaakh and her dancers walked off the stage as the Lipa Dome team had the unenviable task of deconstructing these huge stage props while the hosts talked about everything and nothing.

About the Song

Image

The Cover for the album

'You' is the Title track of K/K's Debut album of the same name, it was released a few weeks before Roovision, the song is about a relationship where both people said wouldn't work, despite both of them having deep feelings for each other

Roovision

Roovision 5 was smaller than previous editions, with only 3 juries voting: Alezia, Polkopia and Carrelie and the juries placed 'You' in 3rd behind αλρηα and Ellie Inuali, neither of whom were expected to be high up on the scoreboard, while the pre-contest favorite Goldi finishing last with Nul Points from the juries, but then came the televote reveal which saw a real shock with Both of the juries' top 2 finishing in the bottom half of the public vote and K/K cruising to one of the biggest televote victories in the Contest's history, beating the next best score (16,achived by Goldi and Ali Jiali) out the window, and winning by 8 Points, avenging their 6 point defeat to Deratha last year

WorldVision Week

When the roosian delegation arrived in Lipa, all the city was thinking about was Worldvision, the Rehearsals kicked off a few days later, coinciding with the release of the running order, which caused some problems for the rtvS executives, as StrayaRoos was drawn to perform 19th,which was among the hardest spots to be, with Malta Comino Gozo and Ertzei Kishim on one side, and Eldija and Achaea on the other it was going to be very difficult to make a mark, despite Several big guns being missing and nations like Iqq, Placely Placington, Vartugia, Zamboodle and Tescoland fighting for 0 at the other end

The Song

The stage has been transformed during the postcard, with a curved wall running along the center of the stage and the LED Screens are all showing similar Black/Blue/Green patterns, the silhouettes of 3 people are visible to the audience, the opening notes of the song start to play and the lights now focus on the 3, then Sidney starts the song
Every hour alone,I Want to see ya
All these times i thought i'd take you
Forgot the past, breaking it all
and now you think that i'm just trouble

the curved wall starts to pulsate to the beat and the camera pans around the audience, then it moves back and focuses on Douglas and Francis
Image

the camera zooms out then turns back towards Sidney and the wall starts to have it's light effect speed up
and i can't take it anymore (oh-oh)
you even said it yourself

Sidney moves closer to the camera, and she starts to make a "come here" hand gesture to the audience, as the LED Wall stops it's in and out effect, and is replaced by a up and down one as the first chorus begins, with the camera zooming back
Image

Why isn't it me and you?
Oh, I just want it to
Why isn't it me and you?
I'm so misrable, that it wasn't me and you (ooh-ooh)
Why isn't it me and you?
it's better with us two
Why isn't it me and you?
I'm so misrable, that it wasn't me and you (ooh-ooh)

the LED Wall turns to black, and then returns to the state it was in at the start, and all three are frozen, until the light starts again and then it restarts, with sidney taking a stride forward towards the left side of the stage
Image

up forever every night
Deep swords slash through my heart
I wanna grow up
This isn't goodbye we aren't alone

Image

the wall returns to what it was before the start of the chorus and everything outside the curve goes black and the camera starts to zoom out and spin around the venue until it finds a location in the crowd
and i can't take it anymore (oh-oh)
you even said it yourself

The camera angle moves to roughly 70* above the stage and a navy/sky blue combo of lights create a stunning view of the stage for the viewers and the juries, though the latter will be more focused on the song rather than the staging
Why isn't it me and you?
Oh, I just want it to
Why isn't it me and you?
I'm so misrable, that it wasn't me and you (ooh-ooh)
Why isn't it me and you?

Why isn't it me and you?
I'm so misrable, that it wasn't me and you (ooh-ooh)

Image

the light stops and what happened at the last chorus with the whole wall turns off then on happens again, but this time with a change of speed, with the light on/off switch being almost immediate
Every night lying alone, but it isn't this bad
just wishing it was me and you (ooh-ooh)
Every night lying alone, but it isn't this bad
just wishing it was me and you (ooh-ooh)
Every night lying alone, but it isn't this bad
just wishing it was me and you (ooh-ooh)

Sidney essentially cried the next two verses into the microphone the lights flicker around her from dark blue to yellow to a bright pink and back again
Image

Why isn't it me and you?
it's better with us two
Why isn't it me and you?
I'm so misrable, that it wasn't me and you (ooh-ooh)

Image

Every night lying alone, but it isn't this bad

just wishing it was me and you (ooh-ooh)

the camera zooms out and shows the Mosh pit standing area, then zips down to show Francis and Douglas playing their instruments
Image

just wishing it was me and you (ooh-ooh)
just wishing it was me and you (ooh-ooh)

the song ends, and Douglas and Francis run towards Sidney to say one final word to the crowd, "THANK YOU!"
