Julianadorp Power Festival cancelled. Nitrogen rules throw a spanner in the works
The organization reports this on Facebook. The JPF was to be held on September 17 this year. On that day, farmers would go head to head in competitions with standard tractors and souped-up ones. In addition, there would be all kinds of attractions for children.
The organization had to demonstrate from the municipality that the nitrogen emissions fall within the standards. Nitrogen is emitted, among other things, during the construction, the breakdown, the event itself, by visitors, participants, recovery vehicles and generators. The board says that the standard has been severely exceeded in the calculation of nitrogen emissions. A permit is therefore not included.
Because there are financial risks to the further preparations of the JPF and it is almost certain that the municipality will not grant a permit, the board has decided to cancel the event.
Secretary Jan Romar says that the board does not stop there, however. The JPF board wants to meet with the municipality as soon as possible. Due to the summer holidays, however, this is not possible in time.
