The Queen led the Emperor to where Sir Khuri, a veteran member of parliament was standing with his daughter and chatting to another nobleman.
"Faisal how are you today?" the Queen asked, using Sir Khuri's first name, a privilege of her status.
"Her Royal Majesty my day is now greatly improved by your mere presence!" Sir Faisal Khuri replied, a wide smile beaming across his round face and under his great moustache. He had known the Queen since she was teenager, having been a friend of her father.
"I'd like to interduce you and Aziza to His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Charles I Le Grand of Haiti. His Majesty, May I interduce Sir Faisal Khuri, Knight of Nachmere and parliament member from the Christian Conservative Party, and his lovely daughter Miss Aziza Khuri"
Sir Khuri bowed and said "Honored to meet you His Imperial Majesty", with all the gravity and humbleness an old member of parliament in a monarchy would be expected to show. He offered his hand for a hand shake.
Aziza gave a small bow, her white shirt complimenting her slim figure. She was about 24 years old, of average height and with the typical black as the night Nachmerean hair. But her eyes were beautifully green and showed much kindness and wisdom. She was unsure if to offer her hand to the Emperor to be shaken, and a little awkward because unlike her father she did not often meet the actual monarchs. But as she was not a shy or timid young woman, decided to offer it none the less, wondering if he would shake it as was the custom among modern Nachmereans, or kiss it as her fathers generation use to do years ago. "Charmed to be in your presence His Imperial Majesty", she said.

Aziza Khuri was in a state of slight shock, but her upbringing was too good for her to openly show it.
The Queen nodded and made her self scarce. The Emperor was a bit too fast in his courtship, but Aziza was indeed a catch, and the Queen figured an absolute monarch from a foreign land probably is unused to temper his eagerness. She knew Aziza was raised well enough to make her own course through the situation, even if she looked a bit pale for the moment.
Sir Khuri was a kind and tactful man and easily noticed his daughter's state, and moreover was quite pleased at the interest shown in his daughter by no less than an Emperor. He rushed to rescue his daughter from her own embarrassment.
"If my daughter is happy to sit by you, I certainly will not stand in her way. But of course, as for marriage, this is all a bit rushed His Imperial Majesty. We do not practice arranged marriages in our family these days, though I was thus married as were my parents. I suggest that perhaps you two get to know each other over this weekend, as we will also be at the Naval Review and the Reception, and god willing, love will blossom."
While her father carried his short monologue, Aziza returned to her senses. It was no secret in high society that she was indeed looking for a groom, and though arranged marriage was a thing of the past, women of her status and culture did not exactly go on casual dates. The Emperor seemed charming, if a bit too aggressive. She may as well give him a chance.
"His Imperial Majesty, I would be happy to sit next to you for the parade. Perhaps you can tell me of your country? I must admit ignorance when it comes to Imperial Haiti, I have only travelled to closer countries. How is the weather? The food?"

"Thank you, Your Highness, you flatter me. I see that you and I share a love for the finer things in life, your Mercedes isn't such a bad piece of work itself but if you'd like I could have an Alpas made for you - it is among my country's proudest exports," the Lakan responded.
"And before I forget, I would like to congratulate you on another successful year of reign in Nachmere. Mabuhay ka, Your Higness!" added the Lakan, praising King Kashat's good health and making a traditional Hintuwani salute.

"Your country sounds not so different to Nachmere in many ways. Our monarchy was established after long tribal wars, to bring peace and stability. His Royal Majesty acts as a balance between the various religions and ethnicities. I have never been in a tropical country before, though sometimes in the summer the Valley feels as humid as the tropics! Our cuisine is as you imagine - traditional middle eastern food." Aziza replied, easing into the conversation.
"His Majesty, do you have much time off as an Emperor? Or do you have a very hectic schedule? Everyone thinks that my father and the other nobles are always hunting or at the club, but I have to say sometimes he is at work so much I barely see him. We do hunt naturally, but by some people you would think we only sleep and shoot ducks all day! Speaking of, is it acceptable for an Empress to have such hobbies as riding, fishing and hunting? I'm afraid they don't seem lady like perhaps..."Peoples Republic of Joyea wrote:As the Chairman shook his hand and exclaimed "The flight was excellent and it truly is a beautiful city. "As perhaps, maybe to meet other guest?"

Representative Ulyaka was not the only delegate from a nation with strong anti-monarchy ideologies, and the King of Nachmere was highly aware of the strange mix of countries Nachmere befriended. A lot of it was down to trade, Nachmere's arms trade made her a valuable friend, and of course, his people were highly dependent on this trade for their prosperity. It was his role as monarch to try and keep good relations with all nations, for the sake of peace and trade. He personally, like many Nachmereans found socialism in its various forms an ugly ideology - but also like many Nachmereans believed firmly that each nation has a right to pick its path.
The king approached Ulyaka with a friendly smile, offered his hand and greeted the Janpian:
"Representative Ulyaka, welcome to Nachmere. I hope this visit is both useful and enjoyable." |Imperial Haiti wrote:The Emperor smiles at Aziza, and he feels more at ease now that he sees that Aziza seems comfortable in with him.

"Oh I am not nearly that talented a rider. We own a large estate, a rural one you see? So father and I...And my brother before he joined the military...We ride horses around and visit the farmers that live on the estate - a far cry from meeting royalty! But we depend on each other, us and the farmers. In the old days they relied on my ancestors for protection and they relied on them for tax income. Now its a far more business like relationship of course...You should come visit us and hunt some ducks. We only hunt what we intend to eat or give our farmers to eat...It's not quite as precise as target shooting, but it requires - I believe - a similar level of patience and control. It took me ages to learn to hit them in flight, and it's poor form and sportsmanship to shoot them on the ground!"

Regardless, I look forward to seeing our Third Company in action. We are a people very proud of our military, and our parade troops represent generations of tradition and quality..."
Before the ambassador could begin a longwinded spiel about the Asuckian military, one of the Junior Ambassadors tapped him on the shoulder and whispered something in his ear. Ailtrain's eyes widened just a bit and he jolted up. "Of course! How could I forget," he exclaimed, half to the other Asuckian and half to the king. Turning his attention fully towards the king, he continued. "The Asuckian government has seen fit to send us with a gift for His Majesty. I think you'll enjoy it very much." The leader of the delegation motioned to the others, who brought forth a wooden display box.
The box was made with a great degree of craftsmanship; the wood had been sanded down to the point where it was soft and smooth to the touch, the glass face was solid and comfortably set, and the inside was lined with cushioned red cloth. Inside was a bolt action rifle. Its barrel and Mauser-style action had been polished to be nearly reflective, and the wooden furniture had been treated with oil for a smooth, shiny finish. A rectangular brass plate on the buttstock read "Presented to His Royal Majesty David Kashat II, King of Nachmere, in the Year of our Lord 2022 in celebration of his 25 years of faithful leadership"
Having completed his task, Ailtrain smiled once more and spoke to the king again. "It's been a pleasure meeting you. I hope to speak more about our countries, food, and a great deal of other things in the future, but right now," he swiveled his head to look around at the diverse group of ambassadors and delegates from nations across the world, "I'd like to introduce myself to some of the others while we're all still together. Might not be able to find any of these folks again once the parade starts."

"No fooling around, no snooping. Turn up for the nice party, watch the parade, check out some boats, leave." Nataliya replied, the vehicle coming to a halt as the pair left the black sedan.
Vasya Illiesci was a man of middle age and fair skin, dressed in an impeccable navy blue suit with a golden tie, his sense of dress as sharp as his features as he stood a full head above the lady accompanying him for the day. As if to contrast him, Nataliya was dressed in a soldier's attire, the breast of her green dress shirt adorned with two medals. On her shoulders were a single gold star, indicative of her rank as a Maior. The pants she wore were blue, a striking piece of attire with a white stripe down the side. She donned her large peaked cap when she left the vehicle, moving up to greet the King before the other vehicle arrived. The pair were the first to approach the King after the others had left, Nataliya saluting the man first, followed by Illiesci offering a hand to shake with both the King and Queen.

Now, changing topics, as you already know, there is a reception after the parade, so, would you please be so kind so to attend it with me?
