Ask a random citizen of BN

Postby Insulamia » Fri Jul 01, 2022 5:59 am

Concept's simple enough. Kinda like "Answer Above Leader's Question" but this time it isn't the leader (unless you get really lucky) but a random citizen in the nation.

So, get a random citizen from your nation and make 'em answer the above nation's question, then ask a question of your own to a random citizen in BN. Usually assume that the question is phrased in a language that the citizen will understand, unless otherwise specified (but, I mean, who would want to specify that?), and I'd advise you also to have your answers in English.

Anyways, here're some examples:
Girtischia wrote:"No, I have never. Well, I mean, I've seen him, yes, but met? No, not really. I don't think he's even that nice of a guy." - Adrik Fimmel
What is the most controversial topic in your nation's politics right now?
Wiristan wrote:Upon being asked this question in English by an AP reporter, Omar Resharon says (in English):
"America. Go f*** you! Not in Wiristania! Go, f***! Imperialist f***! Government of Republic of Wiristan fake government supported by CIA, unpatriotic puppet foreigner f***! Politic and the parliament of Wiristan, they are not sure whether America f*** or America stay kill our children. But people of Wiristan everyone say America f***!"

Are your parents proud of you?
New Jersey United Empire wrote:Well, my ma's real proud of me since I really made it in the world, I have a good job, a good family, and I own many assets and propeties. My pa, well he's a commie loser and he thinks that I am exployting poor people or whatever. He's in jail, so his opinon doesn't really matter to me.
- Ellen Fitzpatrick, lives in Scottsville, VA
----------
Where is your favorite holiday destination abroad, like not in your country?

Anyways, I'll start with this question to a random citizen in the BN:
"What are some stereotypes of your nation that you personally adhere to?"

"This is an extremely easy question for me to answer. Of course, my answer is the State of Anarchy, which just concluded in 1996 after the Milipol Junta took over. It was just nothing but utter chaos for us. Endless fighting, mindless violence everywhere, and a constant risk of finding myself dead thanks to the bullshit of some militiaman or just some damned violent idiot. Don't get me started on what the fucking Slavas Militia or the Mujahideen did to those who would oppose them. Thankfully, the Milipol Junta was able to end all of this by launching the Retaking, they brought order back to our island, and I am certain they will be able to stop this from happening ever again."

"So... the Americans have gotten around to launching this operation in Iraq. Known as 'Iraqi Freedom,' they call it. What are your thoughts on this?"

***This question was asked on 22 March 2003, on the streets of Franclinton***
"Iraq... Uh, sorry, I don't know much about the...uh...global politics and the such. I mean, I have been watching the news lately, I know that the U.S. and U.K. and stuff are invading Iran - sorry, Iraq - as for my thoughts on this, well, I'm no authority on the matter, 'cause I've got no idea on the details but, um, I think it's probably not that good. 'Cause I don't think there's a reason for them to be there, like, it's a small country on the other side of the world; I mean, it could be like retaliation for 9/11 or whatever but like... Man, I dunno. The Government's - the Insulamian one, that is - the Government's position on this is that it's not right, and, uh, I think I can trust 'em. I think I'm not really gonna be affected by the war, like, y'know, Insulamia's not gonna be participating, and whatever economic impacts won't really be felt here 'cause of New Millennium and all...we'd be in a recession either way, y'know?"

But with that being said, I believe some people have used religion as a premise to do harm, even though it actively goes against the beliefs of the religion. 'Not really. Yes, some animés deliver too much and others give nothing. However, this perception of the genre being overrated is due to its aggressive marketing, just like with cartoons. I see some of my students' notebook covers with Demon Slayer, Bleach or other anime characters on the , but others also have cartoon characters like Phineas and Ferb, We Bare Bears or Ben 10. Most of the kids don't know what they really do, but they picked them because they liked the look of the characters. Also, I'm a fan of anime myself and I know that their stories are weird in a fantastical, reality-bending way and without the weird, the stories are dry. That's the charm of anime, though, in how it magnifies these mundane stories into memorable epics with the addition of powerful magic and superhuman abilities. So if anime is overrated, then superhero epics also must be that, too.' - Sylvain Mohamedou, 30, primary school teacher.

"Celebrities...? Oh! Right, uh, sixty seconds! Well—well—I guess there's Josiah Tanner, church president. And Elizabeth Sleet, presidentess of the kingdom. And uh—if I may ask, what defines celebrity? Do they need to be famous throughout the whole kingdom? Beyond the kingdom? Because the former is still rare and the latter might be impossible... well, I thought Sister Sorensen's piano solo last Sabbath was very impressive, if that counts? And Jarom Anderson wrote a drama that has been performed all around the kingdom. Oh, and of course, Chief Patchoroowit is very famous, ever since he united all the Indian bands and nations! He's definitely an accomplished leader. And could I also say Nellie Fisker? She's editor of the Great Basin Beacon, and everybody reads the Beacon, so perhaps one could say everyone knows her name."

(OOC: Ada may be a character, but she is basically a "random citizen." Being secretary is just a job involving moving papers and opening letters; she's not elected or appointed or anything.)
