[ABANDONED] Is it History, or a Smoking Gun?

Postby Neim » Sun Jun 26, 2022 8:34 pm

[title] Is it History, or a Smoking Gun?

[desc] After two employees at a museum were arrested for having a gunfight with two guns from a gun exhibit in a museum, the issue of whether museums should contain and display guns has been brought to your attention.

[validity] Invalid for nations with guns legal/compulsory gun ownership.

[option] "I can't believe museums are able to get away with this!" yells local supporter of gun regulation, @@RANDOMNAME@@, slamming @@HIS@@ fist on your desk. "National bans on guns should apply to everyone, no matter the historical importance! We need to forget about and not put these backwards weapons on display, and move past this terrible part of our history."

[result] children are left to assume that modern warfare is fought with swords and crossbows

[option] "We must preserve history!" says war reenactor @@RANDOMNAME@@, shedding hair on your desk from @@HIS@@ powdered wig. "As much as gun restrictions are important, people must be allowed to learn and know about these weapons, they are an important part to our history! If we are a nation committed to education, then we must allow citizens to be fully educated, including the parts about more controversial parts of our history."

[result] children are taught how to use muskets for the purpose of historical education

[option] "The only thing that this event proves is that the people of @@NAME@@ want our guns back!" states guns-rights activist @@RANDOMNAME@@. "It's such a shame that the only way people have access to firearms is through museums or historical sites. What needs to happen is that guns are made legal again, so that it is proven that the government actually listens to the needs people of their nation, and no more historical artifacts get damaged or abused!"

[result] museums have been rapidly selling colonial-era muskets to citizens after the ban on guns was lifted

Why was there a loaded gun in a museum exhibit in the first place? You can't get into a gunfight if there's no ammo in the guns, and no museum would display loaded guns, especially in a nation where privately-owned firearms are banned.

I've abandoned the issue idea because it turns out to be basically a duplicate of the another one, but thats a good thought and I'll keep it in mind for the future, thanks!

If you decide to abandon a draft, it's recommended to change the "[DRAFT]" in the threat title to "[ABANDONED]".

In any case, better luck with your next idea!
