For several decades, the Cyrassinian Army has operated the M-84A main battle tank as its primary armoured fighting vehicle. Now, as the entire Armed Forces continues to undergo modernisation, the time has come to replace these tanks with a more modern and capable system.

As such, the Ministry of Defence has put forth a tender to international defence contractors for a contract for adoption of a new MBT. The MoD plans to acquire up to 500 of these vehicles.

The performance of this new MBT must exceed that of the M-84As currently in service.

Most important characteristics:

Firepower, target detection, first hit probability, crew survivability, automation, efficiency, logistics, modularity, long service life (upgradeable), autonomy and battlefield awareness.

Requirements:

Armament:

Main gun: Ideally 55 caliber 120mm smoothbore with autoloader

Secondary: Coaxial MG, commander's MG on remote weapon station

Laser rangefinder, muzzle reference device, target track and lead, stabilisation, digital fire control system and ballistics computer

Performance:

Specifications: The weight should not exceed 70 tons, and should preferably be in the 50-60 ton range.

The speed of the new MBT should reach at least 70 kmh on road, 50 kmh offroad. Ideally, it will have a similar/the same reverse speed.

Components: Hydropneumatic suspension will be given special attention

The new vehicle should be powered by a diesel engine, with an under armour auxillery power unit. Special interest will be given to thermal signature reducing technology.

The tank must have a good power to weight ratio, special attention will be given to modular/easy to remove power packs, as well as ease of maintenance.

Protection:

The tank should have blow out panels for ammunition stowage in case of ammo cook off.

The tank's armour should be composite armour on front and turret.

There should be mounting ERA/NERA/Applique armour, as well as anti-RPG slat armour. The crew compartment must be protected from spalling with armoured lining.

For passive protection, the tank should be equipped with laser warning receivers, IR smoke dischargers, engine smoke systems, radio/IR jamming and automated fire extinguishers in the crew compartment.

Special attention will be given to advanced armour layouts and materials.

Systems
Independent thermals for the commander and gunner are a must, with panoramic CITV, hunter killer ability and integration with battle management systems and data-links.

The crew compartment must have full NBC protection and be air conditioned/climate controlled.

Delivery of this vehicle will be completed in cooperation with Cyrassinian industry, with manufacturing of components locally, for example ammo, computer technologies, turret casting and the engine. The tank should ideally come with accompanying bride layers, ARVs and CEVs of the same chassis.

The tender will be closed in 2 weeks, where the most promising products will be shortlisted. A winner selected in the following days.

I wish you all the best in this competition, and look forward to personally reviewing all of the designs.

Signed,
Abdul Hafiz, Ministry of Defence, Emirate of Cyrassinia

Tag for interest, what are the climatic requirements for the MBT? Should it be able to cross water and if yes how deep? Is air-transportability a wanted feature?

The tank should be able to run in hot and humid conditions, up to a temperature of 40 degrees celcius outside of the tank. The crew compartment should be conditioned appropriately to workable conditions, ideally below 25 degrees celcius. The tank will not be expected to operate in conditions below 8 degrees Celsius.

The MBT's weight restrictions should enable it to be transported by strategic airlift, a minimum of 1 per aircraft, optimally 2.

Water wading/snorkeling is not a requirement, but the ability to equip the vehicle with such provisions would be very welcome. Optimal deep water fording capability would be considered a maximum of 3 metres (in snorkel length.)

What is the wished terrain pressure and what types of difficult terrain should the vehicle be expected to traverse?

Are active protection systems welcome and if yes than what types of said APS are? Should they provide all-around coverage or be focused on the front of the vehicle?

About engines- would a gas turbine engine be acceptable? Although it is not a diesel engine per say, it is able to use diesel fuel. I understand that if a vehicle is expected to operate in desert it may be a problem, but it can be fixed by installing filters.

Esteemed Sir,

I write to you on behalf of Murakami Defense Industries. Our company would like to take part in the tender with our Medium Tank Type 1993 "Kusunoki Shigeharu".

It is important to note that while our design uses a Nifonese 121/L53 gun gun, it would not be a major issue to install a 120 mm gun should your excellency find such a feature desirable.

The ground pressure should aim to be around 11-12 psi. Expected terrain traversal would include dusty flatlands, Mediterranean shrub, inclines exceeding 30 degrees, loose rocks and sand.

Any APS is welcome, we currently have a requirement for soft-kill APS in the form of radio and IR jammers as stated, but we will assess hard kill APS as well. Any hard-kill APS should give as much coverage to the tank as possible.

If you can submit a multi-fuel gas turbine, we will of course assess such a system for suitability compared to competing designs.

Emirate of Cyrassinia
Mucero

Greetings,

We at Mucero share with your emirate the understanding that we need to protect our respective nations' borders. Thus, we are pleased to present our Apsychia tank family.

Parts commonality is a key strength due to its utilization of our platform: the M113 Medium Multi-Role Movement System. For instance, the baseline Apsychia AMX45 can be reconfigured to contain main and secondary armament that fits your requirements.

The Apsychia AMX45 is the most capable iteration of the tank that is originally designed to be useful in jungle or urban warfare, depending on its configuration. Built for the Diarcesian Mundana Forces, it has served them well and they do not hesitate to convey their satisfaction to us.

We take note of the planned order of 500 vehicles. Should we be chosen, we are happy to offer the opportunity to create a new Apsychia variant with specifications that are tailor-made to the needs of the Cyrassinian Army.

Additional documents are included in this letter detailing the standard specifications of the Apsychia AMX45. Any alterations for your emirate's use can be negotiated, and we are confident that the tank and its platform can accommodate them.

Sincerely,
Pimen Stibbons
Vice President

Dear Minister,

Having already supplied you with a wide range of arms and platforms, we at Schwerpunkt believe that purchasing another of our systems is the natural, low risk and logical choice for your armed forces. We humbly suggest the newest variant of our MBT-121:

Image

We believe this tank meets or exceeds your requirements, and moreover is highly compatible with systems you have already purchased from us. It is is currently entering service with Royal forces, replacing the combat proven MBT-121A1.

We hope to be able to equip your forces, and are happy to answer any questions.
Schwerpunkt.

Dear Minister,

Having already supplied you with a wide range of arms and platforms, we at Schwerpunkt believe that purchasing another of our systems is the natural, low risk and logical choice for your armed forces. We humbly suggest the newest variant of our MBT-121:

We believe this tank meets or exceeds your requirements, and moreover is highly compatible with systems you have already purchased from us. It is is currently entering service with Royal forces, replacing the combat proven MBT-121A1.

We hope to be able to equip your forces, and are happy to answer any questions.
Schwerpunkt.

Dear representatives of Schwerpunkt Arms,

It is good to correspond with you again. Your submission has been accepted into the tender, and your product will now be evaluated alongside competing designs. You can expect to hear back regarding our final decision within two weeks time.

Regards,
Abdul Hafiz.

Dear representatives of Batea Du Nord,

Your submission has been accepted, pending some clarification. Does the tropicalised A3 version of the BT-91 utilise a 120mm smoothbore gun, and is it of the 55 caliber variety?

Regards,
Abdul Hafiz.

Greetings,

We believe that we have a suitable MBT that meets the requirements, The K1N2-120 Auto with the specidfications here

Although the engine is not a diesel engine, you can use diesel as fuel with 90 % - 95 % fuel efficiency compared to the fuel it is made for, but it won't effect the performance of the engine.

It has been tried but due recoil problems 120/44 and 120/45 has been the limit.
