Hello folks. I am hoping to be start a thread soon and was hoping people would show interest in this thread. Before I lay out my idea and plan for the thread, I wanted to make absolutely sure what I am hoping to see from roleplayers. Anyone expressing interest must first of all respect everyone else in this thread. No exceptions. If you take issue with anyone else in this thread do not bring it here or leave. I'd rather there not be any drama or issues here. Secondly, I don't expect massive posts, but I have seen a lot of threads on the forums devolving into one line threads. These will not be tolerated here. Any posting style is ok as long as you have more than 3 or 4 sentences detailing your post. Also, consistency is very much appreciated. I understand things come up and people get busy and a quick post here or message to me explaining that you'll be unable to post for a bit is satisfactory to me. I'm not a jerk when it comes to that but I do not care for unannounced departures. Please be reasonable and I will be as well. Also please indicate all surprises you have in store in this thread so everyone is aware of them and won't be blindsided.
Now, if you got through all that and still express interest, here is my idea for a role play thread! This will be my first posting of role play in this forum so let me know if you have some ideas to modify this and I will take them into consideration.
The story goes as follows:
The Alliance of Vaskigar and the Cooperative have been at each other's throats for decades, warring with each other over a border zone of resource rich star systems. Both sides have used horrible tactics on each other but the Alliance was noticeably less horrific than the Cooperative. With the Alliance finally winning the war and the balkanization of the Cooperative, the Alliance has been trying to piece together a fractured economy and deal with the influx of refugees and independent star systems now on their borders. It is with this background that Vaskigar has sent a battlecruiser taskforce to deal with rumors of a Cooperative flotilla reforming in a fringe system to hit nearby Alliance worlds. When they enter the system, they fall right into a trap, with all but a single battlecruiser and 2 destroyers crippled or destroyed. With an emergency jump to an unknown system, they have fled in very poor condition. The rp would start on exit into this unknown system.
A pirate force run by me would be there and seize on the opportunity to capture the badly damaged battlecruiser and one of my destroyers will potentially desert and join the pirates depending on how things go with other participants. I'll let you know early if that will happen. Just be advised if you join that is a possibility. There are things in the background as well. The pirates and the fleet that ambushed my taskforce are actually funded by elements in the Alliance government tied to the Military Industrial Complex intent on keeping the war going and profiting off war expenditures. That would be revealed later on though. Participants have free reign to do what they want in the system as long as they talk out what they are doing and how they want to be involved.
